Ultrabross's Vision
CHP53: On the Run
Taking to the path suggested and getting through without guards spotting him at all came as a surprise. Even if she wasn't completely evil, there was nothing about Morrigan that suggested she was trustworthy. The slight breeze over his mouth was refreshing and looked for somewhere to hide. Out in the open as he was might be spotted and re captured, which he wanted to avoid at all costs. He took off up a nearby hill using the dozens of trees as shelter. For the time being needed to get away and devise a plan; something that involved getting back to Gotham. Not only that but had downloaded information that might hopefully shed light on what the enemy had planned.
At that time had his back against a wall finding himself in a rare situation...lacking answers. And because of that was best to take a step back and reevaluate the whole situation. He'd been in circumstances just as troublesome so wasn't new territory. He had no way of examining the downloaded footage and would have to remain patient until the opportunity presented itself. A cracking sound from behind caught his attention quickly realizing he wasn't alone. He spun around grabbing hold of the individual slamming them to the ground over his shoulder.
"Ichigo..."
"Yes, and no."
Batman stepped off to the side extending an arm and helping the individual to his feet.
"As you may or may not recall I'm the mod soul that looks over Ichigo's body whenever in soul form. Anyhow he and everyone else took off leaving me behind and are inside the castle as we speak. Have you any clue what's happening inside! The suspense has been killing me!" Ichi/Kon said.
"Quiet down, an enemy could be near. You said Ichigo and the others were inside. How many? Till now hadn't any clue anyone other than the boy, Gin and myself were present in this world."
"Yeah, yeah that makes sense. Ok, yeah that evil bat lady or whatever she is used me as bait to lure the others through a portal and just like that we ended up here. After a single night additional friends of Moka's tracked us down. How they managed to travel from the Yokai realm to here I'm uncertain." Ichi/Kon implied.
The Dark Knight had no idea what the Yokai realm was; his first ever hearing the name. At the moment was unimportant so elected not to inquire about it further. However did wonder who the extra associates to Moka were, and what abilities they might possess. For the time being there wasn't much he could do. The first issue being, had no access to all his equipment and in foreign territory; and second stood before the enemy's main stronghold.
"So what now." Ichi/Kon asked.
"We wait. Engaging the enemy now isn't of best interest...not until I've figured what they've got planned."
The small gadget within his belt containing the uploaded information from Ultrabross's computer system came to mind. Once the king's plans were determined could then map up a counter.
Back inside Ruby, Mizore, and Yukari had no choice but to continue to play Vixy's game. If there was one thing they gathered to that point, it was that the young girl was a psychopath. They'd managed to avoid the traps and other dangerous obstacles throughout the maze up to that point but still hadn't a clue to which direction led to the exit. From the moment the walls rose over twenty feet and the surrounding changing so drastically; Ruby figured Vixy possessed magic. It was likely the specific enemy's prime ability.
"We're getting nowhere at this rate, and there's no telling what these people might do to Moka if we don't hurry. Our only hope is that maybe somehow Ichigo and the others have gotten to her, and will put an end to this all." Mizore said.
"I hope you're right, I really do...but I've just got a bad feeling about this all." Yukari added.
It was an inner feeling shared between them, and hoped they were wrong. The past hours had been pretty unbelievable. Each wondered if Moka hadn't followed after Ichigo back in the Yokai realm if things would have been different. Perhaps they'd be going about their daily routines as usual, not walking through some death trap. But there was no point in looking back, what happened was done and wanted nothing more than for them all to get through the whole fiasco alive. And if that happened was no reason things couldn't go back to normal.
"Still alive huh? Well let's see if something can be done about that. You've done an acceptable job lasting this long, but don't get your hopes up. None of you three are making it out of my maze alive, I guarantee it!"
The voice of Vixy was loud and clear but could not pin point where it originated. It was more than liking coming from an intercom. Each doubted she'd make a physical appearance.
"Enough of this game! Lower these walls and let us out! We're here to rescue a friend, and have no intention of making you an enemy, but if you keep this up will..."
"Blah, blah, blah," Vixy's voice cut off Ruby, "Save it! You became my prey the instant you entered my quarters. You can continue to try and find a way out but you will find it most difficult. Oh yeah you might want to take a look behind you, I've sent a little something your way."
Immediately everyone turned around prepared for just about anything. For several moments saw nothing, questioning if the enemy attempted to divert their attention away from something else. The thought however vanished just as quickly; a loud noise echoing from down the dark hall. It took a couple seconds before what it was came into view. It was the shape and size of a massive boulder but in the form of gold. Mizore tried freezing it solid but her efforts were for nothing as it smashed through not losing speed.
Ruby attempted putting up a magical barrier but was also not enough to stop the golden ball. It went without saying as they took off in the opposite running for cover wherever that might be. All they could do was go forward, at that moment really having no other option. The more and further they ran became apparent they'd be unable to outrun the ball.
"Hey look there, that's our chance." Yukari pointed out.
Ruby and Mizore spotted the corner she pointed out and together picked up speed turning the corner as the ball continued forward. Yukari was especially relieved, wiping the sweat from off the side of her face. They'd encountered so much since trapped inside the maze could only imagine what might be on the way next. They remained close to one another in case the enemy tried separating them. As they took a couple steps further into the specific section of the maze an additional wall rose from behind them blocking the path not allowing them to go back the way they came.
With that wondered just what their chances were of escaping the maze. It appeared the enemy in question had full control of the environment. None of them wanted to believe it but might have been correct when she said they wouldn't be going anywhere. A sound caught their attention, echoing from all directions but couldn't make out what it was. And before they knew it spikes emerged from out of all the surrounding walls.
"This doesn't look good..." Yukari shivered.
Shortly after the walls began closing in on them, with nowhere to run or hide. All potential exits were closed off with no way of getting out.
"Great, just when I thought things couldn't get any worse. This is really turning out to be quite the drag. We better do something quick before we end up in body bags." Mizore said.
The ice user wasted no time freezing the approach walls. Unfortunately didn't stop the walls progress. Hoping the ice had weakened the walls created an ice blade with the intent to smash through. She quickly realized beneath the surface was actually constructed of steel!
"Well, ah this looks bad." Mizore sucked on her lollipop.
"Hehe you can say that again, you three are good as screwed. Hhhmm wonder if I should bathe in your blood. Oooohhh and plaster your heads over a wall on display. Yes, yes that's exactly what I'll do. It was nice knowing you for the time that I did but all things must come to an end. Goodbye, hehe."
The three could hear Vixy's voice loud and clear but unable to determine from where, just as it had been since entering her death trap.
"Vix-chan what are you doing, put an end to this right away!"
"But, but sir..."
"Do It!"
"Yes Ultra-sama." Vixy replied looking to the screens rolling her eyes.
In the single push of a button the walls stopped. Ruby and company noticed right away.
"Do you think she's decided against killing us?" Yukari asked.
"Doubtful." Mizore replied.
They weren't given anytime to talk it over as the room was filled with smoke. Coughing and gagging ensued as they quickly fell unconscious.
"Lower the walls and I'll send guards to imprison them at the nearest cell block. I want Moka's friends alive for now. All that's left is the karate one and the other vampire. Security footage has alerted me of their current positions and have already directed a unit of guards to take them down." Ultrabross said before exiting.
In another part of the castle Akua and Heiji walked up a set of stairs. As they made their way down the hall Akua extended an arm resting it over Heiji's shoulder.
"Stop for a second...we're surrounded." The vampire informed.
"You sure about that?" Heiji asked.
His question was answered as Ultrabross's minions made themselves visible from the surrounding space. They looked at one each other and without speaking knew exactly what they needed to do. Separating from one another sprung their attack on the enemies. It quickly became apparent the guards were no match for them.
Akua flipped over two of the guards, grabbing at one and slamming him to the ground and KO'ing him with a knee to the face. The next she slammed an open palm into his stomach and upper cutting him into another of them that approached. Opposite of her Heiji drop kicked one individual catching the fist of another. He twisted the enemy's arm around elbowing him in the face and roundhouse kicking another that came from the side.
From down one of the hall more guards approached armed with weapons. On a quick count Heiji figured there had to be at least thirty of them.
"Hate to say this but I think we should ma..." Heiji stopped in mid-sentence seeing Akua had the same idea.
Together they took off retreating.
