Chapter 12
This bitch is going down tonight, Embry screamed through the mind link as his teeth snapped shut just inches away from the long flowing tails of the leather coat she was wearing.
She almost attacked some kids at the creek, he snarled as she launched herself into the canopy.
Try to push her toward the Northwestern boarder Embry, Paul and Jared are there, Sam and I are going to head in that direction.
Each of the wolves was on alert Quil and Seth were pacing Emily's back yard while Kim, Emily and Claire hunkered down in the house. The pup still didn't have his shit together so he couldn't fight and there was no way Sam was going to let him stay near his imprint alone.
She won't get out of the damn trees, Embry snarled looking up at the tree tops her red hair bouncing from tree to tree. She's fucking with us and I'm sick of this shit.
Embry man keep your cool, she's going to have to come down sometime.
As Embry pushed his legs past the point of pain he couldn't stop thinking about the three little kids playing down by the creek on the Makah rez, the little girl was scared to death when the redheaded bitch appeared out of nowhere and asked her to come in the water. Those kids were fucking lucky, lucky that Embry had been hiding out in those woods waiting for his imprint to show in the clearing as she had for the last several days.
It'd shocked the shit out of him the first time he saw her. He hadn't said a word to her but he'd followed her to Emily's mother's house one night and knew that was where she was staying. Embry felt bad when Emily's mother met her on the porch steps with a smile and a hug, after all she hadn't talked to Leah since Emily and Sam got together.
Just inside the reservation border the redhead dropped down from the trees and whirled around her teeth bared, lowering his head Embry pushed his body harder. Her eyes widened before she spun back around in what seemed like an attempt to get away, lucky for Embry it gave him the time he needed, kicking off Embry launched himself at her and his teeth snapped down on the tips of her fingers, a defining screech echoed off the forest walls when Embry jerked his head to the left, with a pop her hand was flying into the forest. She was still screeching when she turned toward him Embry took the opportunity and launched himself at her when he was in air she smiled. The smile registered as odd only a second before what felt like a Mack truck slammed into his side throwing his body into a tree. As he fought to his feet another blur one with black hair shot behind the redhead grabbed her by the waist and launched them both into the canopy. Embry tried to right himself but he couldn't breath both sides of his body were crushed and with each breath he took a slice of pain shot through his lungs.
Stay down, Jake's voice boomed through his mind and his body gave up, the wolf wanted to fight it, to get up and kill the bloodsucker that dared to endanger not one but both of his lands. Jake barked the order again as his body hurtled over Embry's and he let himself sag into the brush.
As Embry lay panting in the brush he couldn't stop thinking about the three little kids and Leah at the creek, he'd protected them, he'd protected his imprint and she didn't even know it. She needed to realize what the pack was doing how they were keeping people safe, if only she'd talk to him.
I'm going to get her Embry and make her talk to you, make her realize. Sam's calm voice whispered through the link. Before the blackness took over he realized that Sam was running the same path that he'd just been on, headed toward Makah.

Angela groaned to herself when Jessica's hand shot out to tap the repeat button on the CD player, "It's Britney bitch" flowed through the speakers followed up by a smooth thumping bass of the song Gimme More. Angela had been praying since the second time the song played that she wouldn't have to hear this song anymore, but as she shot a look toward her friend who was lip syncing better than the singer of the song ever could and jumping around in her seat she realized it was a lost cause. She was going to have to suffer through hours of this CD amongst others on their trip to Seattle.
Jessica had just turned toward her friend and mouthed, do you want more when the phone in her purse began to vibrate and ring. Shaking her head at her friend she dove into the purse and pursed her lips when a number she didn't at first recognize flashed on the screen.
"Hello?"
"Where are you?" The rough voice demanded causing her to shrink back against the seat.
"Paul?"
"Where are you Tom?"
"Don't call me that," she snapped and then winced when the music in the car suddenly stopped.
"Where are you," Paul's voice sounded deadly as he grit out each word.
"In the car with Jessica" Angela heard a muttered shit before Paul sucked in a breath.
"Stop at the nearest gas station, restaurant, store any place public, get your asses inside and call me at this number, don't make a move until I get there."
Angela opened her mouth to ask what the heck was going but was met with silence; she looked over at Jessica who mouthed what at her. Angela thought about throwing the phone back her purse and telling her friend that it was nothing, but something told her that she should do what Paul had demanded.
"I'm hungry do you think we could maybe stop and get something to eat?"
"What? We've barely been on the road an hour and a half and we just passed through Port Angeles, why didn't you tell me you were hungry then?
"I don't like fast-food breakfast, can we please just stop?"
With a huff Jessica rolled her eyes and then muttered something about last pick prom dresses.
Thirty minutes later Jessica and Angela were pulling into the Hwy 101 Diner. Jessica hadn't spoken to Angela since she'd asked her to stop and since the radio had been on full blast and repeat she knew that her friend was upset with her.
"Jess," Angela tried but rolled her eyes when Jessica flung the door open and slammed it before she could say anything else. This is turning out to be a wonderful day, Angela muttered to herself as she pulled the handle on the door and followed her fuming friend into the restaurant.
Thankful that Jessica stormed into the bathroom as soon as she got into the restaurant Angela found a seat flipped open her phone hit send twice and waited for Paul to pick up.
"Where are you?"
His voice was tight with anger and what seemed to be a little fear, "Hwy 101 Diner in Sequim, Paul, what's going on."
"Stay there, I'm in Port Angeles right now."
Angela opened her mouth to try and ask him yet again what was going on but was met with silence.
After twenty five minutes of sitting in a plastic booth with her friend doing everything in her power to not make eye contact with her Angela fought the urge to apologize yet again. The bells above the diner door jingled as it swung open bringing in another gust of cool air, every hair on her arm stood on end. Moving her hands back so she could rub the cold off of her arms Jessica's hand latched onto one of her wrists with a grip that made her wince and her friends eyes nearly bugging out of her head and her mouth was formed into a perfect O.
Knowing that it was some kind of hot man candy, as Jessica liked to call them Angela rolled her eyes and tried to pull her wrist from her friends grip but winced when the pressure intensified. Angela's eyes moved from her friends hand up to her eyes and she nearly died laughing at the site. Jessica's mouth was fully agape now and her eyes were larger than she had ever seen them before.
"You gonna make room for me Tom?"
Angela jolted at the sound of his voice and then huffed while turning her upper body toward him. The sight of Paul standing behind her shirtless, sweaty and a little mud covered made her breath stall. Cocking his eyebrow at her his gazed moved to the hand Jessica had wrapped around her wrist and his eyes darkened before shooting up toward Jessica. Angela was still looking at his profile when Jessica made a helpless squeak and her grip tightened. The pain shot through her wrist before it was quickly soothed by a blanket of callused heat, heat which she now realized was Paul's hand covering Jessica's and slowly removing her fingers.
The feel of his hand touching hers sent her body into a frenzy every nerve ending had come to life causing a need for his touch to stir in the pit of her belly. His hand remained on hers even after Jessica's hands shot together and then under the table. Her body sagged against his side as he lowered himself to the edge of the bench and scooted her toward the wall. There was plenty of room for her to scoot over when he was fully seated beside her but she couldn't make herself move away from him. Something kept her at his side, the same something that had her own hand shooting under the table to grip his bare knee.
"What, what is-" Jessica stuttered as her eyes shot between Angela and Paul.
"You're not going to Seattle," Paul said his eyes head turned toward Angela.
"What?"
"You're not going to Seattle, not today, or next week, you're going to buy your Prom dress in Port Angeles and I'm going to be there when you do."
Angela's gaze snapped to Jessica waiting for her friend to put up some sort of a fight, but at this point all was lost. Jessica's hand was slowly inching its way toward Paul's fist that was resting on the table, while her eyes lingered on his bare chest.
"Jessica," Angela snapped a little harsher than she intended but accomplished what she was wanting, Jessica's eyes finally left Paul's chest and met her own.
"Are you ok with that?"
With their eyes locked Jessica seemed to snap out of the Paul haze she was in and her face bunched into a frown, "no, we're getting our dresses in Seattle; my mom even gave me her credit card."
"No you're not." Paul ordered catching her friend's attention.
"Excuse me?" Jessica added with a whip of her head, "I'm not really sure who you are or why you think you can boss us around but we're going to Seattle to get our prom dresses."
"You might be but she's not," Paul said as his hand squeezed her own.
She could tell by the look on his face and the tension in his shoulders that he was angry, maybe a little beyond that but his hand cradled hers with the utmost care.
"I'm her friend, and I said she's not going."
"Well her parents said she could friend." Jessica grit out as her eyes swept over his chest once more.
"Ok stop." Angela said growing equally tired of their little argument and Jessica's eyes that were once again making a slow appreciative sweep down Paul's chest.
"Paul what is going on?"
As the question was asked she saw his jaw tick and his eyes shoot from her to Jessica and then back again. She could see that he was thinking about what he was going to say before something dawned on him, "Charlie was out talking to Sam and said something about a mudslide outside of Sequim, glad I got a hold of you when I did."
Angela merely quirked her eyebrow at him, the feeling he wasn't quite telling the truth nagging at her.
"Looks like you girls are going to have to shop in PA."
Jessica's groan from across the table earned a chuckle from Paul and an eye roll from Angela, "we'll find something Jess, and they won't be out of date dresses, I'm sure the shop in Port Angeles has something."
"Whatever"
"You know," Paul said while draping his body across the table in Jessica's direction, "I won't mind watching a couple of girls get undressed."
The tone he used, the way his words flowed out of his mouth Angela couldn't help but shudder as her skin erupted with goosebumps, it was no wonder that Jessica's mouth was slack and her eyes wide as saucers. When a smile slowly began to spread on Jessica's face Angela's grip on his knee tightened.
"You can watch me undress anytime big boy."
Angela didn't realize that her fingernails had sunk into the skin of Paul's knee until his hand smoothed over hers and then slowly began to unlatch her fingers. Only realizing once his hand was laced with hers that she was starring daggers at her friend. She tried to contain her anger but Jessica was still looking at Paul like she was about to rip the last stitch of his clothing off right there in the restaurant. She could feel a slight tug on her hand but she wouldn't dare look away from the girl that was trying to make a move on what was hers, what was hers? She didn't know where that thought had come from, Paul wasn't hers, but she sure as heck didn't like the thought of him being with Jessica.
The next tug was hard enough that it caught Angela's attention; Angela opened her mouth to snap at Paul but he practically jerked her out of the booth and down the small aisle of the restaurant to the front door.
Once outside she was practically tripping over her feet in an attempt to keep up with Paul as he led her through the parking lot.
"Get in," he barked while jerking the door open.
"I'm not going anywhere with you." Angela bit back while attempting to jerk her hand free.
Still fighting to free her hand Angela's breath left in a rush when her back hit the fender of the truck, "you'll get in this truck and you'll stop fighting me, your friend is watching."
"Of course she's watching she hasn't been able to take her eyes off of you since you stepped in the place, don't you own a shir-"
Paul's lips slammed down on hers, teeth clinking together her rant cut short. Suddenly angry at his tactic and that fact that her body was on the verge of wrapping itself around him like an octopus she nipped at his lip a little harder than she intended earning a groan from him as his entire body crushed her against the fender, "don't get rough with me Tom I like it like that."
His heated breath fanned across her neck and she whimpered, "Don't do this to me, not now Tom I've had a shit day and you can't test me like this, just get in the truck."
She was just about to push away from him, ask him what it was that she was doing to him, when his lips brushed against her neck, her heart jumped a beat and then her hands wrapped around his head bringing his lips flush with her skin. With her breathing ragged she wanted to beg him to do something, she wasn't sure what she wanted but the need was coursing through her veins.
A low rumble vibrated across her skin and then ever so slightly his teeth nipped at her neck, her body went slack when he nipped at her a second time the rumble still rolling through his chest, "I need you to get in the truck" his lips were practically plastered to her neck but she was able to make the words out. "I told your dad I wouldn't mess you up, if you don't get in the truck I'm going to mess you up." Another nip and her fingers were digging into his hair, god she didn't want to let go, not now, not ever.
Slowly his hands touched her hips and then met in the small of her back; his lips were once again pressed to her neck as his hands slid over the small globes of her ass and then gripped pulling her up. It felt like second nature when her legs wrapped around his waist and when his lower body met hers, instead of scaring her this time it felt right, like he was where he was supposed to be, she wanted him there.
"Ang"
At the sound of Jessica's voice Angela's body went rigid and Paul's wondering hands slowly stilled under her cheeks holding her against him.
"The waitress is going to call the cops, no sex in the parking lot."
Angela squeezed her eyes shut and her grip on Paul's head tightened when he tried to pull back from her neck, "she doesn't matter."
She was pretty sure his words were meant as a way form him to draw her attention back to what they had just been doing instead they soothed her, soothed away the heat and anger that she had been feeling when he pulled her out in the parking lot.
"You're pissed about before," he whispered against her neck, "that's what this was all about."
She wouldn't answer him but she did peel her eyes open, Jessica was standing behind Paul her eyes wide as she took in the sight. When Angela realized that her friend was stunned she slowly let her fingers uncurl from his hair and pushed at his shoulders. Paul muttered something against her neck that she couldn't quite make out this time, but he let her go.
When her feet touched the ground he slid to the side allowing Angela the room to move away from the fender of the truck, as she looked at her friend whose eyes were darting between her and Paul's back she could feel the blush creep up her neck.
"Don't Tom."
Angela's head snapped to Paul whose hands were gripping the steel of the fender his arms rigid locked at the elbows, his head was hung low as he starred at the ground.
"Just get in the car and go shopping I'll follow you to Port Angeles."
As his body began to shake Angela wanted nothing more than to reach out and touch him that was until his head snapped to the side eyes locking onto her own, with wide wild eyes he bared his teeth and snapped them at her.
Startled Angela threw herself forward toward Jessica and snatched her hand. Not bothering to look back Angela pulled her to the car whipped open the driver's door and practically stuffed her friend inside despite Jessica's protests. Once in the passenger seat Angela shot a look back and realized that Paul was already sitting in the cab of the truck his eyes zeroed in on the car and she nudged her friend with a little more force than necessary thankfully moving her along.

The ride to Port Angeles from Sequim was a quite one; in the thirty minutes it took to get there Jessica hadn't stopped shooting looks at Angela from across the car. She knew that Jessica wanted details of what went down in the parking lot but to be completely honest Angela didn't know what had happened. One minute she was mad at her friend for making eyes at Paul in the restaurant and the next she pressed up against his truck wanting him to bite her? As the shiver rolled through her body at the thought of his teeth at her neck Angela dared a look to Jessica who was once again watching her.
As Jessica pulled into the parking lot of the dress stop Paul's truck turned toward the curb and slowed, he didn't attempt to make any other contact with them besides staring them down as he coasted past them. The girls watched as he stopped at the red light then peeled through it the second it turned green.
"Ok what in the world was that all about back there? Are you having sex with him!? Angela could hear the mixture of wonder and jealousy in her friend's voice.
"I don't- I don't know what that was."
Jessica's forehead bunched as she crossed her arms over her chest. "Oh kay?" She said completely unconvinced, "so are you?"
"Am I what?"
This time when her friend spoke she threw her hands in the air, her fists smacking into the ceiling of the car, "having sex with him, what else!?"
"I'm not having sex with him," Angela yelled back at her friend, "and don't think you are either!"
Jessica recoiled like she'd been slapped, "are you serious, you'd think I'd-"
The question was left hanging when Angela shot her a look.
"I don't appreciate that look Angela, for your information as hot as that one is he seems a little crazy so don't be surprised when I don't open my legs up for him." As her friends last few words came out more cracked and hurt sounding then angry Angela felt horrible.
"I'm sorry I don't know what's gotten into me and Paul's not crazy he's just intense." That's right intense just the way Sam described him when he took her to the beach to have a talk about Paul.
"He seems crazy to me, you're not friends with him are you?"
Angela blew out a frustrated breath then looked at Jessica, "I think we're friends I mean he met my parents the other day," Angela paused in attempt to contain a bit of laughter at the look on her friends face and then continued, "he doesn't have many friends that are girls so it's hard for him." Angela didn't miss that her words sounded like a question as they came out.
"Oh I'm sure he doesn't have any friends that are girls, from what I've heard he's done most of them in town!"
"What!"
"I didn't realize who exactly that was until you said his name back there and he broke out the sex voice on me but, he gets around, Lauren told me he was having sex with Mindy Chaney in my room the night of my party!"
Angela felt the flush as the vision of Paul's sweaty back took over her senses for second, "that's what I've heard but he said he wants to be friends, that we're friends."
"You'd better be careful around him. He's obviously got it in him to make you want to be more than friends."
Angela only nodded her head knowing that was the sad truth, this time though it seemed that it was her that was unable to control herself. Paul was right, she'd practically plastered herself to him and encouraged everything they were doing in the parking lot of all places simply because she was upset by the tone both he and Jessica were using with each other. She was jealous and that almost led to, what she wasn't completely sure, but it was definitely more than friendly.
No longer willing to continue the conversation Angela pulled on the handle and told Jessica she was ready to get some shopping done.
~U~
"Well, well look what we have here," the voice purred as a set of overly manicured fingernails skimmed over the back of his neck.
His body grew tight when they dug in every so slightly in the same place where his imprints nails had sunk in just two hours ago.
Paul's body was ripe with tension; every single muscle in his body was coiled and ready to strike.
"Don't mess with me tonight Mindy." Paul growled as he scanned the road.
"Oh it's going to be like that tonight is it?"
Fuck yes, he wanted to scream. That redheaded bitch had ganged up with another leech and had practically taken out one of his brothers today, and then his imprint had to go and get all territorial on him leading to him nearly losing his shit with her in a fucking parking lot of all places.
"You know I don't do slow"
"That's why I keep you around ba-"
Paul lunged at her before she could get the word out, his lips crashed against hers fighting the gag when she opened her mouth and the taste of stale cigarettes slipped in. He'd been so fucking close to giving into to the wolf and what it wanted today with Angela that he could taste it, they both could taste it. There wasn't a stitch of doubt in his mind that she didn't want it fully, that was until her friend spoke and her body went rigid. The thought of Angela struck him and his eyes flung open, he didn't realize that it had already gotten as far as it was, Mindy was on her knees the door behind him now closed she was slipping on the condom stroking him much like he wanted his imprint to do earlier today. When she began to lower her head he jerked her up by the hair and smiled when she squealed in delight, his imprint wouldn't want it like this, and this was the only way he could give it, hard, rough and fast, especially after a day like today. As Paul slammed into Mindy for the first time that night he thought about the red headed vamp and just how badly he wanted to kill her.
~U~
Angela frowned into the phone as it rang for what seemed like the hundredth time. She still didn't know Paul's number and Bella hadn't answered her phone when she called her on the way home from Port Angeles either. With no way of getting in contact with Paul and Bella not answering her phone Angela was seriously considering going down to the reservation to try and find him. She wanted to talk about earlier not only his demand that she not go to Seattle but also at the restaurant. She wanted to apologize for the way she acted when he was talking to Jessica and wanted to take back, no she didn't want to take back what had happened in the parking lot but she wanted to apologize for that too because what had happened today was way beyond what they agreed on and it was her this time that took them there.
The door to her room burst open and all hopes of going to find Paul were lost when Isaac burst into her room plastic guns blazing.
"I thought mom said you couldn't play in the house with those?"
Still shooting up the place with bright orange darts Isaac shrugged his shoulders before quickly tucking into a roll then just as quickly transitioned to crawling on his belly behind the bed. As he hid from the imaginary enemy he slowed his breath long enough to pant out a few words that made Angela's stomach sink like a lead balloon, "your friend was kissing a girl."
Jessica, was the first thought that came to her mind, just as quickly her friend was dismissed from her thoughts when she remembered how Jessica had continuously throughout the day warned Angela away from Paul and all his crazy.
"Was she pretty?" Angela didn't realize the question as out until Isaac stood from behind the bed a screwed up look on his face, "she had yellow hair, are you gonna play or not?"
With her eyes and hands clenched as the hurt laced through her Mindy's tacky yellow hair and red heels from that night flashed in Angela's vision and she jolted from the bed, it looked like she wouldn't need to apologize for putting their friendship at risk, their friendship was perfectly fine from the sounds of things. Jerking the spare gun out of Isaacs hand Angela took off running for the twin's bedroom, hoping time with her crazy brothers would keep her from thinking about the two of them together.

Jared elbowed Sam in the ribs as the two stood in the forest behind Angela's house, "he's really going to fuck this one up."
Sam rolled his neck from side to side as the weight of the world pressed down on him, one of his wolves was injured and didn't want to have anything to do with him, another one, the pup was so beyond help that even Jake with his newly gained powers and patience couldn't get through to the boy, and his best fighter well he was off fucking a townie to keep the need to mate with his imprint at bay.
"I can't make him do anything when it comes to her Jared."
"You know this isn't going to work Sam, you could hear it in her voice."
"Jared," Sam warned.
"Alright, alright but I'm telling you right now this is going to turn into a shit storm at some point. He might not want to admit it, but there's some part of her that wants him, and they want her too."
Only nodding his agreement Sam palmed Jared's shoulder jerking him back toward the woods, they had people to protect and knowing one of the imprints not on the reservation was safe would make the double patrol easier.
