Rhythmi: *Looks at poster* 'Have you seen these adorable pokémon?' Hey, that picture of Snuggle-Buns looked like the time he, Hyper Beamed both Crawford and Keith after the first Mounty was eaten by Crawford.
Keith: *Looks at picture and cringes* That looks like a face only a mother could love. *A Ninja throwing star hits the wall where Keith's head was but Keith dodges at the last second* AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!
IMN: *Carries posters in arms* HOW DARE YOU INSULT MY BABY, SPIKE-HEAD! I'M GOING TO KI-!

Chapter 8: Old Friends Unite Part 1!
Keith's Pov
"Kate, I know you're scared to face Rosie but can you please get out from under my bed?" I said trying to contain my annoyance at Kate. She has been hiding under my bed for an hour. It's been three days since Rosie, Kellyn and Mace (a.k.a. The She-Hulk) arrived at Ranger School. Kate tried to avoid Rosie for three days straight. It was kinda cute when she first hid in my dorm from day one but now it's getting ridiculous. I'm just thankful that Isaac is having an after school study session with Rhythmi today.
"Why can't you hide in your dorm?" I asked while sitting on my un-made bed.
"In case you forgot, Rosie is a Grass type Mewman with a strong Leafeon. Rhythmi has lots of flowers in her room which means Rosie can get in easily at any time. Plus if I start hiding in my room, Rhythmi would ask lots of questions and she would not leave me alone until she gets answers. She and Isaac can't find out I'm a Mewman." said Kate from under my bed.
"What's so bad about people knowing you're a Mewman? I been thinking about it a lot and I say that it would help people in need especially since you'll be a ranger." I said with curiosity. The dorm became silent until Kate popped her head out from under my bed to look at me. I could tell by her eyes that she was debating whether to tell me or not.
"Believe me Keith, there are some things that you don't want to know. There's a reason why there are few humans who knows about the existence of Mewmans today." Kate said before crawling back under my bed. I let out a sigh and crawled under the bed. I saw that Kate had her back to me and was holding her knees to her chest, making her look like a giant ball. I was about a foot away from her at most when I put a hand on her back and Kate suddenly froze under my touch. I felt a little bit hurt when she froze because of me but I steeled my resolve and opened my mouth to release the words I wanted to say.
"I may not understand much about Mewmans but you can trust me with anything Kate. I'll do my best to help you even if I don't have powers like yours. I promise that I'll always be by your side, even through the darkest hour." I said with a smile. Suddenly Kate turned around and buried her head in my chest. I felt Kate's tears soaking into my shirt, so I hugged her as she cried.
When Kate stopped crying she lifted her head up to look at me. Her eyes were shining with excess moisture, her cheeks held a small blush despite having tear tracks down her cheeks. I wiped them away with my fingers and before I knew it I had the urge to-.
"What cha doing under the bed?" said a voice from behind me. Kate and I froze with shock and had huge blushes on our faces. Kate's ears and tail popped out of nowhere. I turned my back to her to see who the voice was and protect Kate from people seeing her ears and tail. I saw that the voice belonged to a very curious Bidoof that we all know as Bailey.
"B-BAILEY?! What are you doing in here and why are you here?" I asked with surprise as Bailey rarely entered my dorm because something about Kate's dorm smelling better. Suddenly there were two pairs of shoes next to Bailey and then the shoes disappeared to show Isaac and Rhythmi.
"There you guys are. What in heaven's name are you doing under Keith's bed?" asked Isaac.
"Isn't it obvious? For the last three days Kate has been in Keith's dorm a lot so that means that they are having a secret relationship!" exclaimed Rhythmi. I felt my face heat up again and quickly crawled out from under my bed. I stood up to my normal height to see my best guy friend, Isaac, blushing about catching Kate and I in our 'moment' and my annoying childhood friend, Rhythmi, having floating hearts around her head.
"Rhythmi you watch WAY too much Romance/Dramas. Kate and I were just... uh..." I said trying to think of an excuse because I know that Kate didn't want to tell them what was going on just yet. Then Kate crawled out from under the bed (thankfully with no Mew ears and tail) and walked over to us.
"I dropped something on the ground and it accidentally got under the bed because Keith kicked it by mistake. Keith and I were under the bed to look for it because it's very important to me." said Kate with a smile on her face. 'Damn, she's good at lying' I thought.
"Oh, what were you guys looking for?" asked Isaac. Kate didn't miss a beat when she pulled something out of her shirt and revealed a pendant. It was silver oval shaped piece of jewellery that was the size of my thumb. It had strange carvings around the edges and five small gems encrusted into it. There was a red gem at the bottom, a blue gem at the left, a yellow gem at the right, a black gem at the top and in the center was a pure white gem. When I look closely I noticed that it was thicker on the sides than a usual pendant.
"Wow, that's so pretty! Where did you get this beautiful pendant Kate?" asked Rhythmi looking at the necklace with awe.
"It's actually a family heirloom. This pendant goes back hundreds of years, to the very first Icecia. This is special to me and my family. I couldn't stand the thought of leaving it in Fiore so my dad let me take it with me. It's kind of like my good luck charm." said Kate with a smile on her face.
"You know Kate, this necklace reminds me of something. I just can't remember it." said Isaac while stroking his imaginary beard, trying to think where he saw the pendant.
"Wait a minute! I just remembered why we came in here! Guys, we better hurry and change into our gym clothes. We have Mr. Kaplan for gym today remember? Let's go Kate!" said Rhythmi before grabbing onto Kate's hand and running back to their dorm. I could hear Kincaid's famous 'NO RUNNING IN THE HALLWAY!" from outside the door. I let out a sigh and opened my closet to get ready for gym.
Still Keith's Pov 10 minutes later
When Isaac and I arrived outside the gym hall we realised that we were early because we saw only three students instead of the thirteen due to be there and the door was locked. Isaac and I were wearing forest green t-shirts with the Ranger School's capture disc in yellow on the left breast, dark blue shorts and white gym shoes.
"Hey Keith, Isaac over here!" shouted someone. I was surprised to see Kellyn calling us and waving his hand while he ran towards us. I haven't seen Kellyn or the other transfer students since they arrived here three days ago. I know that they're in Isaac's class and that Kellyn and Mace are great at captures but not as good as me (or Kate). Kellyn was wearing the same gym uniform as Isaac and I.
"I haven't seen you in a while Keith, how have you been?" Kellyn asked with a smile on his face.
"I've been good, nothing eventful happened." I said to Kellyn.
"Actually Keith and Kate had a little moment in our dorm. Keith is in love with Kaaaate!" Isaac sang with an evil but teasing smile on his face. I'm not sure if I blushed at that comment.
"Oh yeah, Mr. Smart-Guy? What about you and Rhyth? You guys have been together a lot too!" I retorted and Isaac blushed fifty shades of red. Suddenly Kellyn placed his hand on my left shoulder and smiled at Isaac.
"Hey Isaac, do you mind if I talk to Keith in private?" Kellyn asked. Isaac raised his eyebrow for a second before nodding his head. Kellyn then dragged me away from the few students outside the gym and looked at me with a serious expression on his face.
"Does he know anything about Rosie, Kate or I being 'you-know-whats'?" he asked while making sure no-one heard us.
"No, I didn't tell him anything. Why are you asking?" I said with confusion. When I finished talking, Kellyn let out a sigh of relief before smiling at me. 'Why doesn't Kate or Kellyn want other humans to know about Mewmans?' I thought.
"Ke-Ke, there you are, you idiot! I can't believe you went ahead of me you dummy!" shouted a familiar voice. I looked over Kellyn's shoulder to see Mace, who looked angry, and Rosie wearing the same gym uniform as I. Both of them had their hair tied up in pony-tails.
"It's not my fault you took too long getting change, Mace. And another thing, I told you not to call me 'Ke-Ke'!" said Kellyn with a pout on his face. Is it just me or did Mace have a little blush on her face?
"Oh yeah? THINK FAST KE-KE!" shouted Mace before she jumped on Kellyn's back, wrapped her legs around his stomach and gave him a hard noogie.
"Mace, get off me! Stop it!" said Kellyn with a laugh. Even though he told her to get off, he was holding onto her legs so she wouldn't fall off. 'Is this normal?' I thought while watching the laughing duo.
"Yes it is. They're really close and were raised together in the same environment. I thought the same thing the first time I saw them like this." said Rosie with a smile. I reminded myself that I have got to learn to stop thinking private stuff around Mewmans.
"By the way, how's Big Sister? I haven't seen her a lot. Is she okay?" Rosie asked with a look of concern on her face. I knew that I couldn't tell her about Kate avoiding her so I said, "She's fine, she's just been busy lately." I silently add 'hiding under my bed' after that sentence.
"Keith! Isaac! Over here!" shouted a very familiar voice. We turned our heads to see Rhythmi in her gym uniform running towards us. I know that Isaac was blushing in front of me but I wasn't taking too much notice of that, I was focused on who was behind Rhythmi. Then I saw Kate running towards us in her gym uniform. When she stopped in front of me she gave me a smile and she automatically looked ten times cuter.
'Wait, DID I JUST CALLED KATE, CUTE?!' I thought while blushing.
'Yes. Yes you did.' I heard Kellyn's voice in my head and I didn't have to look at him to know he had a stupid smirk on his face. I was about to retort back until the entrance to the gym opened and out came Mr. Kaplan.
"Alright guys, I have a special lesson for you today! Follow me." said Mr Kaplan and we followed him into the gym. It was dark and I couldn't see a thing but when Mr. Kaplan turned on the lights, I could already feel the excitement and adrenaline flowing in my veins. It was an obstacle course with a climbing wall, spring board, capture dummies, the whole enchilada! This is the type of course that my parents and cousin Wendy used before they became rangers, at least that's what Grandpa told me.
"Today we'll have an obstacle course! This is basic ranger training to know what to do in different terrains. Your goal is to pass each obstacle, capture the dummies and get to the goal. I usually just let the new ranger students do this but since there is only four this year, I decided to let everyone take part in it." said Mr. Kaplan with a smile. I could feel the glares of the operators and mechanic students drilling holes in my back with their eyes.
"I am SO going to kick your ass, Adams! Back home people called me 'The Tornado' because of my awesome speed and combat skills." said Mace with a smirk on her face.
"They mostly called you 'Little Miss Sugar-High' because of your 'like' for sugar." said Kellyn before Mace tried to punch him but failed because Kellyn was fast this time. Everyone had gotten into ready positions to start the race except Rosie, who was talking to Mr. Kaplan about something. Mr. Kaplan gently shook his head and pointed to the starting line. Rosie walked over to get ready for the race but she looked a little scared like she feared the obstacle course itself. I also noticed that she was clenching the place over her heart for some reason.
When Mr. Kaplan said "GO" everyone started to run the course. I was in the lead with Kate beside me. Kellyn and Mace were on our tails (metaphorically in Kate's case) while Isaac, Rhythmi and the rest of our year were far behind us. I turned to look at Kate, smirked and started to run faster and jumped over the hurdles. Just because Kate and I are best friends, doesn't mean we aren't still rivals. On the second obstacle Kate ran ahead of me and climbed the wall like she was a Mankey. I saw her smirk at me before jumping off the wall, as if she was saying 'is that the best you got?'. Oh, IT'S ON NOW ICECIA!
It was like that during the whole course. Sometimes I would take the lead. Sometimes Kate took the lead but in the end it was a tie. The rest of the year crossed the finish line in the next two minutes. Everyone was gasping for air after they stopped running. I saw Rosie looked very pale and was panting very hard. She was clenching her chest again, directly over her heart. I saw that Rosie was wobbling for a few seconds and I didn't notice until after Kate ran towards Rosie that something was really wrong.
Rosie's Pov
'Keep breathing Rosie, just keep breathing.' Those were the words I was thinking of while I ran the course. I shouldn't have done the obstacle course but I did. I had no choice thou, my paper work wasn't received yet so it was either I run or fail gym. I couldn't let my Element Pokémon, Ivy, down. I couldn't let my family down. I couldn't let Big Sister down. I couldn't let my one true weakness get the best of me and ruin my life, so I ran.
I could feel my breathing going faster than it should. I could see my vision failing me and my cursed heart trying to take control of the situation. It wants to stop me. It wants to hurt me. It wants to show me how weak I am. I was always like this ever since I was born. I have a weak heart condition. Since my heart is so weak I couldn't do normal things that humans or Mewmans could do without straining my heart. If there is too much pressure on my heart I could go, into a coma or worse. I always felt useless but I kept fighting for my family and friends.
I finally reached the finish line. I could feel my heart hurting me. I tried to ease the pain my holding onto my heart, telling it to stop hurting me. It refused to listen, the pain increased. I felt dizzy all of a sudden, I knew what would come next. The last thing I saw was Kellyn, Mace, Big Sister and her friends running towards me with worry and fear on their faces.
...
"Ro-... ke up. ...ie wa_e up. ROSIE WAKE UP!" I heard a voice calling from the darkness. It took me a while to fully open my eyes and when I did I saw a blur of white, green and brown. I soon realised that I was in a white room and my faithful Leafeon, Ivy looking at me with a sad look on her face. When Ivy saw that I was awake she smiled and tackled me but not too hard to hurt me.
"Thank goodness you're awake! I was so worried about you, I thought you might be in a coma again. I swear that you'll give me a heart attack one day, MARK MY WORDS!"shouted Ivy while she waved one of her front paws in the air to put empties on her last sentence. I smiled and scratched behind her left ear. In a matter of seconds she turned into a purring pile of putty in my hands.
"Sorry to worry you Ivy. How long was I out anyway?" I asked. Ivy quickly composed herself into the proud pokémon she is.
"You were out cold for over an hour. Janice had done a check up on you and said that you need some rest. By the way, Principal Lamont said that on behalf of the staff and Mr. Kaplan, they were sorry for not believing you when you told them about your heart issue. They said that you can stay in bed for a day or two before going back to school if you like." said Ivy. I stayed quiet and scolded myself for letting my heart control my life again. I'm always feeling weird and alien-like because I get the 'special' treatment compared to other people my age. I hated it. I want to be an equal. I want to help people, not the other way round.
A few years ago, I was an equal. I didn't get special treatment. I didn't feel like an alien from another planet. People saw me as, well, me instead of some sick innocent girl. It was nothing but heaven with Big Sister, Fro, Ivy and the others with me until that day two years ago. I never thought I see anyone from the old days until I met Crawford and talked to him. I had a feeling that I hadn't felt in years. Hope, happiness, strength. Big Sister showed me those things and I can experience them all over again and be myself once more.
Suddenly I felt someone yanking my hair and placing a horrible smelling cloth over my mouth and nose. I saw that some men put Ivy in a sack that looked strong enough to hold her despite her powerful moves. I tried to struggle out of the strong grip but I felt myself growing weak from the cloth over my mouth and nose. I tried to scream but the cloth muffled the sound. Before I knew it, the darkness had taking me back into it's embrace.
Kate's Pov meanwhile outside the medical room
I sat outside the entrance to the school's medical room. I had an urge to open the door to visit Rosie but I let my fear of rejection get to me. Would she hate me? Would she understand? Does she want to be my friend again? I let out a sigh and hugged my legs to my chest. I still wore my gym uniform and I could feel Rosie's letter in my pocket. I didn't had a chance to read it and since I'm alone I believe that now is a good time as any.
I quickly took out the envelope and opened it before I could change my mind. I looked at the lily and bluebell scented letter and this is what it said;
"Dear Big Sister,
I'm so happy to finally see you after two years. You haven't changed much have you? The only difference is that you cut your hair and put it in pigtails. It's a real cute look on you! Sorry, I'm getting distracted from the point of this letter.
The point is that I met your brother, Crawford, the day before I arrived at the school. He told me what really happened two years ago and how much it hurt you. Don't blame yourself Big Sister. You did what you had to do! I never would have thought that Luke could betray us like that, even to his own family! No-one should betray their own family! Big Sister, I missed you and the others every day. I thought you were dead but Arceus, Mew and all the Legendaries must like us a lot if we've now met in the same school after two years. TWO. YEARS! If you're alive Big Sister, then the others must be too. I'm sure that everyone is safe somewhere. Oh, I forgot to tell you, my little brother became a co-ordinator and he has a crush on this girl that he met on his journey! It's so sweet when he talks about her to me! He always has this adorable blush on his face just by saying her name! MY LITTLE BROTHER IS BECOMING A MAN! XD
Someday I hope that we could talk to each other like the way we used to and not by letters. There is so much I want to talk to you about, maybe I could help you with a certain red head. *Wink, wink* No matter what, I'll always be on your side Big Sister. You do your best to become a ranger and I'll do my best to become an operator!

I wanted to scream. I wanted to cry when I finished reading the letter. How could I be so selfish ignoring Rosie and think about my pain while she shares the same pain as me. I been so horrible to her and she still thinks of me as a friend to tell me everything, especially about her brother having a crush. I wanted to go back in time so I could stop myself from ignoring Rosie. I'm such an idiot.
"I knew you would be out here." I heard a very familiar voice talking in front of me. I looked up to see Keith walking towards me still in his gym uniform. He sat down next to me and looked at me.
"So you finally read Rosie's letter?" said Keith. I just nodded my head and let my hair cover my face. There was silence for a few minutes until I finally have the courage to speak.
"Keith, can I ask you a question? Say that you have a friend that you haven't seen in a while. You're afraid to see them because you haven't talked to them and you don't know what to say when you made a mistake. What would you do to solve the situation?" I said while looking at Keith. I twisted the truth a little bit so that Keith wouldn't know what really happened two years ago. I felt bad but it was for his own good. Keith looked at me and the sunlight from one of the windows gently caressed his face. I noticed that the green in his brown eyes are back and it made my heart skip a beat.
"I say that I would try to talk to the person. The more you avoid the person, the worst the situation gets. Who knows, maybe the person would forgive and forget. You never know until you try." said Keith with a smile. After Keith told me what he thought I weighed the pros and cons in my head about the situation. I realised that Keith was right, Rosie was always a very forgiving person and she didn't deserve being treated horribly by me after two years of separation.
"Thank you Keith." I whispered and suddenly hugged him. I felt Keith stiffen underneath my arms for a second before embracing me back. I didn't know why but Keith's presence strangely gives me confidence and makes me feel safe. I think that's why I used my powers in front of him during the Test of Courage. I just wanted time to stand still at that moment.
Suddenly I smelted one of the most horrible scent in the world. I quickly got out of Keith's embrace and sat on the floor, shaking with fear.
"Kate? Hey Kate, are you okay?! What's wrong?!" shouted Keith with worry but I just shivered on that same spot with my fear consuming me. I'd recognised that smell anywhere. The most horrible smell known to all Mewmans in the world. The smell of Mewman blood and death.
I quickly opened the door as fast as I could to the medical room and what I saw confirmed one of my greatest nightmares. The bed was a mess, caused by a struggle. The smell was very strong along with a hint of chloroform in the air. The window was wide open and the worst part was that not a single soul was in here. Rosie and Ivy were kidnapped!
"What the hell happened here?" asked Keith in shock, I said nothing and ran to the window. When I leaned my head out the window I breathed in a big whiff of air into my nose. The smell of blood was still strong so they shouldn't have gone very far. I quickly jumped out the window and ran towards the source of the scent with Keith close behind me.
"Kellyn, Chrom, Fro! Can you guys hear me?" I said via telepathy.
"Kate, long time no thought! What's going on with you? Fro and Chrom have been trying to get me out of the gym for a little while. It must be important since you sound scared as well." said Kellyn with confusion.
"Kellyn, Rosie and Ivy have been taken by them! I need your help, NOW!" I shouted in my head while still running.
"WHAT?! Those b*$^*%ds are here, in the school?! How the hell did they find us?!" shouted Kellyn in my head. I would've told him not to scream in my head by I didn't care at the moment. Rosie's life was in danger!
"What the heck are you two talking about? Is it another Mewman?" I heard Keith saying in my head. I heard Kellyn growl like the dragon type he is for a second because of his hatred for those people.
"I'll come as soon as I can! Where are they?" Kellyn asked with rage laced in his voice.
"They're near the front gate from the scent I picked up. HURRY!" I shouted in my head.
"Aye, Aye, Mon Capitan! Chrom and I are on the way!" I heard Fro shouting in my head. I ended the telepathy there and continued to run.
"Kate what the hell is going on? Talk to me, I can help!" shouted Keith as we ran. I suddenly stopped twenty meters from the stairs to the school's front gates. Keith stopped next to me and looked at me with confusion.
"Do you really want to know the real reason why Mewmans never tell their true identity to humans?" I said with a serious look on my face. Keith just looked at me with surprise before nodding his head. I took in a shaky breathe in and exhaled.
"To humans we're nothing but scum, monsters, a waste of space to the world. Even if humans believe that, they still think that we could help them in a way but not the way Arceus or Mew intended. They pay lots of money to use Mewmans to kill people, destroy things, and turn them into slaves. They believe that the smaller the population of Mewmans, the higher the price. The people that took Rosie are called 'Hunters', they hunt or kill Mewmans for money. They don't care if they hurt or kill anyone else, even one of their own or innocent people as long as they have their money." I said with hatred laced in my voice.
I hated the Hunters as much as the next Mewman and they hurt Kellyn so badly in the past. I wanted nothing more than to kill every last Hunter for hurting everyone I loved in the past but that would make them think that Mewmans are truly the monsters they believe we are. I do know one thing I have to do. I have to save Rosie before it's too late!
IMN: CHAPTER 8 IS FINISHED! YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!
Rhythmi: It's great to see you so happy after Sn- *Mouth was covered by Mace's hand*
Mace: Ex-nay on the Snu-bay in front of IMN-say! Comprende?
Crawford: Snu-bay? Oh you mean 'don't talk about Snuggle-Buns in front of IMN'!

Kate: Crawford how did you get here?
Crawford: I got in here by-
