Gibbs watched Kelly as she slept. He couldn't believe how lucky he was to have her back. He thought about Shannon and how much he still missed her. She must of known that Kelly had a chance to survive when she told her to go and that Gibbs would find her. She just didn't know it would take so long. He realized how tired he was and knew he needed to get a few minutes of shut eye or he would be no good for Kelly. Ziva came into view and nodded towards him. He knew she has this watch. He leaned back into the chair and closed his eyes.
Franks sat at the table cleaning his gun while Tobias talked with one of his agents on the phone. He hung up with a frustrated sigh. They were not any closer and he feared time was running out.
Abby sat on the stool watching the monitor as the sketch ran through AFAS anxious for a hit. McGee sat at Abby's desk resting his eyes as the sketch was running through another program he quickly created . He told Abby to wake him in ten.
Tony was in the bull pen going through Rivera's call log and cross referencing visitors with any known criminal activity or associates of his. He knew this all tied back to Alejandro, he just had to find the missing thread. He had received word that Alejandro had been put in solitary confinement by the warden so Tony began looking at the guards that had access to him. Maybe there would be something there.
The man stirred when his phone vibrated with a text. He picked up the phone and read the simple message of wait. Good he thought, that will make it all the much sweeter and went back to sleep.
Gibbs woke as the sun was coming up. He glanced over at Kelly who was still sleeping. Ziva was in the doorway with a cup of coffee for him. Gibbs got up and walked over to her and nodded his thanks as he took the first heavenly sip.
"Updates?" he asked her quietly. Ziva answered "No hits through AFAS so far. McGee and Abby are working on another way to identify him." Gibbs let the information sink in as he took another sip. "Ziva, watch her." He headed to his room to shower as Ziva took up post.
Franks made another pot of coffee as Fornell cooked up pancakes. He watched outside the window as the agents changed shifts. He and Fornell managed to catch cat naps between standing watch and pacing.
Gibbs added his knife, gun, and backup as he finished dressing. He could smell breakfast cooking and headed to see if Kelly was up. He wondered if she still liked pancakes.
Kelly woke up feeling so refreshed and realized without nightmares. It took her a moment to remember where she was.
"Morning Kelly." Said Ziva as Gibbs appeared back at her door.
"Morning" replied Kelly as she got out of bed and stretched. She started to smile but stopped herself as she wondered if today would be the day that her nightmare would be over.
Gibbs saw the shadow across Kelly's face as Ziva crossed the room and headed downstairs to give them privacy and wondered what Kelly was thinking. He walked over and kissed her forehead and hugged her. Kelly buried her head in his shoulder and he felt her shaking as he whispered in her ear. "I got this. He is not going to get you. I will not let anything happen to you." Kelly nodded as she took a deep breath and stepped back. She believed him.
"Is that pancakes I smell?" she asked. Gibbs laughed as he said yes.
"I need a hot shower first." Replied Kelly as she grabbed some clothes from her suitcase and headed into the bathroom. Gibbs went into the hallway to call Tony.
