Eric and I sat in the waiting room of the doctors office. His hand was in mine rubbing circles on the back of my hand trying to calm me down. Today would be the day when we found out how far along I was in my pregnancy and what we would have to do to keep the baby safe. I was watching all the other patients in the waiting room, there were kids sitting in the pay area sneezing and coughing, mothers watching intently as they did so, some other mothers with their babies in the push chair and even a couple of men sitting there trying to act tough even though they were obviously unwell. I felt a squeeze to my hand and turned to Eric questioning why he had done so and saw him pointing toward the nurse who had called my name. I stood as did Eric and we made our way over to the nurse

"I'm so sorry" I apologised and she smiled

"It's alright ma'am, if you'll follow me" she said and we did. As the nurse checked my vitals and ran some tests Doctor Morgan who I had seen since I first moved to LA asked

"How are you feeling Nell?" she said grabbing the folder off the nurse and reading what had been written down.

"Better than I have been" I answered.

"Alright I see here that you are thinking that you might be pregnant?" she asked and I nodded

"Yeah I had been feeling unwell for a couple of days and my friend finally managed to convince me to take a pregnancy test. I did and it came back positive but I just wanted to make sure and also see how far along I am" I said and she nodded

"Of course we can do that. So I see here that the nurse has taken the blood test, now it is a quick test and shouldn't take too long to confirm but while we are waiting I want to double check your vitals" she said and I nodded, Doctor Morgan had always been very thorough and made sure that she had covered every thing when it came to me. I don't know why but I really appreciated it. For a fifty something year old women she was always incredibly kind and went out of her way to make sure that she saw me if something was wrong.

After checking everything she left the room to check on the results, I turned toward Eric and asked

"What did Hetty say when you called?" he looked at me and smiled

"I told her that I had to take you into the doctors and that I may not come into work after wards and she said that it was fine and that we would be fine just as long as I watched you and made sure you were alright" he said and I nodded

"I'm feeling fine now honestly. If I am pregnant I think we should tell the team, they're like our family and they should know" I said and he smiled

"Alright, but first could we get something to eat?" he asked and I chuckled

"Sure" I answered and he smiled, leaning forward to kiss me. It felt good knowing that if we were indeed expecting that we could tell the team, I mean we both had our families and all but these guys had been more like a family that we could depend on, because with them we didn't have to lie about our jobs, they knew that we were doing our jobs and that we had fears and weaknesses, strengths and dreams. I was about to say something when in walked Doctor Morgan

"I have the results of your blood test, it seems that you are indeed pregnant. I will set up the ultrasound and then we can take a look and see how far along you are" she said and I nodded looking over at Eric and smiling happily

"I can't believe it" I whispered, to have it confirmed was the best feeling in the world, my hands immediately flew down to my stomach and I looked over at Eric again who had the biggest smile on his face.

Doctor Morgan set up the ultrasound and then warned me about the cool gel that would be placed on my belly. I gasped at how cold it was, the warning was definitely needed. Eric who was seated beside me leaned forward and grabbed my hands. We looked toward the screen as images started flickering across it. As Doctor Morgan moved it and zoomed in just a little bit more I gasped seeing the little foetus that was our baby.

"I believe that this is your baby, it looks healthy and like its progressing well. Given how big the foetus is I would estimate that you are 14 weeks, which means you are entering your second trimester" she said and I felt my mouth drop

"Would that be why I have been so ill over the past couple of weeks?" I asked and she nodded

"Yes though typically most mothers get morning sickness around two months, its not unheard off for you to be ill later on. I'm guessing that you became ill because the nutrients and vitamins that baby requires were being taken, which happens. You would've also felt tired because the first trimester is the most important during the development, and the forming of the umbilical cord is the most tiring process. It's also common for there to be a lack of interest in sex during that time, but you may get the urge to consummate over the coming months" Doctor Morgan explained. Everything she had said made sense and explained a lot about why I had felt so bad.

"When will we be able to find out if we're having a girl or a boy?" Eric asked and I nodded

"At about week 17 through to week 20, so at 5 months pregnant is when we can tell for certain if your having a boy or girl" she said and I looked at Eric in less than two months we will know if we are having a little girl or a boy.

"Well we are all done here would you like pictures of your ultrasound?" Doctor Morgan asked and we nodded.

"Alright, while you clean yourself up I'll get the pictures printed and write up the report" she said and I nodded. Eric handed me a couple of tissues to clean my stomach

"I can't believe that your so far through, I was thinking maybe just past two months" Eric said and I nodded. Thinking back I was trying to pin point when it had actually happened and then it hit me. The night Eric proposed we had left the office and headed home, we'd skipped dinner and made love so many times that it had actually hurt to move the next day. I felt the smile spread across my face and heard him ask

"What is it Nell?" shaking my head to clear it I answered

"The night of your proposal" I said and he looked at me confused before I raised my eyebrows and it clicked

"Oh, oh my that was a great night. And this is most definitely a most wonderful present" he said and I nodded. Kissing him passionately before Doctor Morgan cleared her throat and said.

"I'm sorry to break up this happy moment but I have another patient. I will see you in two weeks Nell for your five month check up and then we can find out if your having a little girl or boy" she said handing me the pictures and walking with us out the door. I booked my next appointment as Eric stood off to the side. Finally when that was done I made my way to Eric's side and said

"My next appointment is for the 23 of November" and he nodded

"I will make sure to get that day off work" he said and I smiled, taking his hand as we headed toward the car.
