Recap
"Do you know how my family is?"
Miyuki frowned. She not believing she hadn't thought to ask about them before this moment.
"Don't worry. They are safe. We should go down for dinner, I was told bring you down I guess we are a little late."
"Oh. About Tsuna's side of the story." Shoichi paused after he stood from the bed. "I don't think you'll ever hear that side from him."
"Why?"
"He's gone too."
Miyuki poked at her food. She didn't know what to say to the two before her. They had been through a lot in the last ten years, mafia stuff, her death, she glanced at Shoichi across the table, puberty.
She shoved rice in her mouth, while trying to get her thoughts straight. Shoichi had said Tsuna was also dead. Who else? What about the others, Gokudera, Yamamoto? Are they still okay? How did Tsuna die? She couldn't ask the two men before her. From what she's gathered they view them as enemies.
"When I go home everything will be okay right? I'll just know the future and avoid dying. So then the future will change and I won't be dead-" "That's not how it works." Byakuran cut her off with a frown. Miyuki furrowed her brow in confusion. It seemed pretty simple to her, minor changes in the past can change her future. "How does it work then." She frowned.
"This world you'll always be dead. Nothing can change that."
"World?"
"There are parallel worlds, you can't change the results in them that easily."
"Parallel worlds?!" Miyuki groaned it was like she was in some kind of anime or something. Like the mafia thing and ten years into the future wasn't strange enough.
"Yes."
"Really?" She turned to Shoichi who nodded.
"Am I dead in the other worlds then? Am I just meant to die young?" Honestly it scared her, she didn't want to die young, she still has so much to do.
"No." Byakuran answered firmly. "This is the only one you've died."
Miyuki frowned "How do you know?"
"Because I've been to them."
"What? Wait, how have you been to them? That doesn't make sense. I mean I guess that would explain how you know about the other worlds but still..." She completely lost what little appetite she had now she just wanted answers.
"You've had to take in a lot the past twenty-four hours, I'll explain more to you later." Byakuran's eyes cut to Shoichi.
"Sho-chan will be returning to Namimori tomorrow morning." Byakuran smiled brightly at the two.
Shoichi looked shocked, but knew better to speak out against it. Miyuki on the other hand...
"Why? I don't want him to go. I don't even know how long I'll be here. He's my best friend I need him here."
"He has work to do."
"Then I'll go to Namimori with him."
"Miyu-chan you can't go." Byakuran grinned more.
"Why?"
"You don't have a passport." He spoke like it was the most obvious thing in the world.
Miyuki fell back onto her bed, grumbling. "He's such a jerk sometimes. I don't know why I even care to be friends with him."
Shoichi watched her from the foot of the bed. His eyes softening, he really has missed her.
"And I swear he hasn't changed at all! Always eating sweets with his stupid grin, calling everyone stupid nicknames. Isn't he suppose to mature with age? Why hasn't he matured?! You've matured." She sat up suddenly making eye contact with Shoichi.
Shoichi awkwardly averted his gaze. "He has changed."
Miyuki's annoyance suddenly melted into sadness. "Yeah." It was her fault wasn't it?
"I don't know you." She changed the subject.
Shoichi looked shocked and even hurt.
"I mean everyone changes right? You're an adult. You're twenty-five. I hope you aren't the same person you were ten years ago. I can tell just by looking at you that you aren't though." His expression changed to a neutral one. She was right.
"Well, what would you like to know?" He moved to sit beside her.
"What's your girlfriend's name?"
"G-girlfriend?!" He spluttered his face matching his hair in color.
"Wife? Fiancée?"
"No!" He cried out panicking.
"You're single?"
"Yes." He confirmed face still red.
"Why?"
"What do you mean 'why'?!"
"Why are you single, and why are you yelling?"
"I'm not yelling!" He protested. She just stared blankly at him.
"I'm too busy for a relationship." He spoke again. It was the truth.
"Was I single?"
"Yes."
"So I never had the chance to fall in love?"
Shoichi tensed at that statement.
"I'm sorry, haha you don't care about that kind of stuff." Miyuki laughed to herself though her eyes held sorrow.
Shoichi instantly regretted the lie. But it is best her not knowing the truth.
"Does Byakuran have a girlfriend?" Sure she should've been asking Byakuran this but he wasn't here and she was curious now.
"No."
Miyuki frowned at the answer. "Why are you two losers in the future? It doesn't make sense."
"Losers?!" He tried to look angry but he couldn't. She was reminding him of things he'd forgotten about her. Guilt filled his chest at the thought. He never wanted to forget about her yet with her younger self before him he's remembering things he didn't know he'd forgot.
"Yeah, you guys are old. You should be in a serious relationship or married." Miyuki scolded him.
"We aren't old!" His eyes widened in disbelief. Did she really think twenty-five was old?
"Have you ever been in a serious relationship?"
"No, but-"
"Why not? You're a twenty-five year old virgin? Have you ever even kissed a girl? You weirdo. You're running out of time. All the girls your age are going to be married. You'll end up old and alone with twenty cats. Is that what you want Shoichi?" Her tone was scolding him, though her eyes were filled with amusement.
"There is nothing wrong with being a twenty-five year old virgin!" His face turned darker than his hair. He couldn't believe he was having the conversation with her! She's only fourteen, she shouldn't even be thinking about these things.
"Haha, I'm sorry, Sho-chan. I didn't mean to tease you this bad."
The man just frowned at her causing her to grin. It was almost like she was sitting across her the Shoichi of her time.
"I just want you to be happy."
He quickly bit his tongue. He hasn't been truly happy for two years, It's hard to find happiness when the one thing that always made you happy disappears. She held so many people's happiness in the palm of her hand. She truly doesn't realize how important she is to certain people.
"I'm happy now." He smiled softly.
"Is this our final goodbye?" Miyuki stood with Shoichi in front of the mansion. A car was parked beside them waiting to take him to the airport.
Shoichi frowned. He didn't want to say goodbye, this could be the last time he sees her alive and well. The thought of that weighed heavy on his heart.
"We don't know how long you're stuck in the future. I'll be searching a way to return you, don't worry. This isn't our final goodbye." He almost believed his own words. Knowing Byakuran he won't let her close to her hometown unless it's absolutely necessary. Regardless he knew she'd be returning home, with or without them meeting a final time.
"Well" she moved to embrace him. "I'll see you later." She tightened the hug before releasing him completely.
Sorry for the filler chapter but I think it's nice to have something light hearted before the serious stuff. Miyuki I feel would've really needed her best friend for reassurance before it truly all starts. Also my electricity is out in my house! China can be so complicated with paying utilities. I don't even know if it's a thing where we pay the landlord like our last apartment or if it's a card you have to add money to like my apartment before the last one. Actually I hadn't planned to update this chapter so soon but I've got an hour of free time in the mornings sitting at my desk. Oh! So I've also got a Facebook page, it's about my life in China if you are interested you can message me about it. I'm also planning to visit Japan in feb during the Chinese spring festival (aka Chinese New Year) Anyway I haven't watched the anime in awhile so I need to get my electricity back on so I can update the story with the storyline. Please review it gives me motivation. (As you see since I updated in less than a week) and think you for following/favoriting the story.
