Thoughts on a Plane Episode 3

I've decided to write a little something I've been thinking about recently. It explores the awkwardness of the "Rose Garden" ship that's recently joined the RWBY fleet. Ozpin may be a tad OOC here, mainly because of the subject matter.

Oscar paced in the yard, unsure of his new feelings. He had long valued his friendship with Ruby, but when she kissed him that changed things. Could they become something more? He found her optimism tantalizing and she was by no means physically unattractive, but there was the matter of his inexperience, and of course, the fact that Ozpin, Ruby's former headmaster, was a part of him.

I still hear your thoughts, Oscar. And, to be honest, I'm not sure if I'm comfortable with them, Ozpin sighed.

What do you mean you're not sure?! I'm quite certain of my discomfort! Oscar frowned.

I realize that, but-

Do you? After all those centuries are you sure you haven't forgotten about such things?

Ozpin chose to ignore that last remark,

Ruby was one of my students; my relationship with her was strictly that, and when we eventually merge you'll share my feelings on her. The question is, will I share yours?

Well if you don't know, I certainly don't. So what am I supposed to do about these feelings.

I strongly suggest you suppress them and focus on our mission.

Sure. Easy for you to say.

Listen, I know it's difficult to accept. Ruby really is a remarkable young woman.

Ah, that she is.

I'll have you know I've had a similar experience in the past, but I overcame it.

Really?

Yes, with a woman named Glynda. You may meet her some day.

She went to a hunter academy with my then-host, and the two had a good relationship. When I joined with him, however things changed. I no longer looked at her the same way, and it was heartbreaking for the both of us. Eventually, we overcame the awkwardness and became good friends, but things were never the same. She had become so cold, so detached… I don't want to see that happen to anyone else. Especially someone with as much promise as Ruby.

I… understand… but that doesn't change my feelings!

Oscar, you need to understand how difficult this is for every interested party, not just you, Think about how a relationship would affect Ruby! Think about how she would feel when our souls merge.

If she thought it would be that big of a problem, why would she have kissed me?

She has always had the tendency to be… impulsive. You need to be the mature one.

You expect me to be more mature than some one two years my senior?

Since I am a part of you, I very much expect that of you.

I… I know. And I'm sorry. A-and I wish I didn't feel this way about her, but I do!

Well, ultimately it is your decision. All I can do is advise you on what I think is right, Ozpin sighed. Before Oscar could respond, Qrow barged into the room,

"Hey Oscar, mind if I talk to Oz for a second? It's about Ruby and… well… I think you already know."

Ah, here we go again.

Will Rose Garden sail? I don't get paid for any of this so I don't give a damn!

Depending on what ends up happening, I may or may not end up writing a sequel to this. We'll have to wait and see.

I'm also thinking about doing a humorous QrowxWinter piece. Surprisingly there are only a handful of one-shots with that pairing.

Note to FE:CSR fans: For the record, a yet-to-be-published scene from Tale 10 was partially the basis for this one-shot.
