-The 'dream'-
"I'm sorry princess but I can't h-hold you anymore!...pant...pant... Remember! Don't stop running!"Aed the cook, said as the small girl got down from the old man's back.
"W-wha..Hic...?"
"Aed! Y-you don't have to do it, we can all runaway-"
"Stop insisting, you clearly know who's gonna get out of here. Alive that is." The short old man snapped, glaring with only his left eye at the old woman behind her, cutting her from talking.
He slowly turned his frying pan in his hand before grabbing it for good, as he saw a couple of guards coming towards them.
"Take the east wing... Go …Go trough the garden, you might be able to evade some of them..." He said before cracking his neck.
"...Got it."
"N-no,... G-gampa Aed is...is gonna...l-leave us like the others, no!" Lucy tried to run from Supetto's arms, but the woman was stronger and swept the little girl off her feet.
"I'll go now."
"Ahn..." The old man grunted, dodging some bullets with his pan.
"Just...Just try to stay alive...You stupid old man..." She breathed, as she ran away from there.
"Tch, you too old hag." A tear, ran down his only functioning eye, before jumping into his demise.
The small Lucy saw through Supetto's fingers, who was trying to blind her vision, the old man run towards the guards with a roaring war cry, taking down many of them, but also taking many hits from the other party.
She slowly saw a shot make his chef hat fall to the ground before his body did.
Soon enough they were outside the west wing and the image of the old Aed dying kept replying in the little girl's head like it was happening right before her eyes.
Entering a small garden, suddenly the old woman tripped on a broken edge of the soaked stone pavement. The woman fell hard on the ground hitting her chin first, weeping as the pain cursed through her wounded body.
"S-Supetto!" Lucy cried as the woman sat up.
"D-don't w-worry! Let's go!" She said taking the blonde kid by the hand and limping towards the entrance of the mansion's other wing whilst trying to fight the rainstorm that was outside.
"Supetto...It's o-ok...I...I'll go to papa..a-and..." Lucy gulped, even her violet lips shivered at the sole pronunciation of that word, and her eyes filled with fright.
"Nonsense! Don't you even dare thinking of going back to that crazy man!" The old woman shouted while turning around. As she did that a thunder fell right next to them, scaring Lucy even more, who reacted with a high pitched scream.
"Aed is fighting for us right now...A-Aed is buying us time, so...So please...Lucy..." She added, falling to her knees in front of the girl, hugging her in the process.
"You're our only hope...You have to live..Hic...Y-you have to survive! That's why! Please let's run! I know it's hard but, let's escape from this crazy place!" The woman cried, as she broke the hug to look at the little girl in the eyes.
"O-o...Oka-!" Before she could finish her sentence a magical bomb exploded next to them, making a hole in the wall. Crumbles started falling from the ceiling, as smoke and dust raised from the ground. With a grunt the old woman who managed to protect the little kid with her body, brushed off a sash of one of the windows, with little and big pieces of glass falling from her back.
"Pant...Pant...!"Tears started to form again in Lucy's eye seeing the old maid, breath heavily on top of her.
"L-let's...Pant.. Go...Pant.." The woman breathed, getting to her feet and dragging the little kid once again behind her. But as she tried to make the first step she cried her lungs out as she collapsed to the ground. Trembling she looked behind her and saw a broken piece of wood stuck in her right calf.
"Ugh!" She clenched her teeth, as she heard the dogs that were supposed to track them down bark.
"S-S-Supetto...Hic...T-there..." Lucy whined as she saw a strange shadow, like some kind of beast, run towards them.
The girl was about to shriek as she saw the beast jump in the air, but Supetto, was quicker and with a swift motion she took the wood from her leg and hit the dog directly in the jaw, making it yelp as it fell to the ground.
Gasping and gulping down the knot she had in her dry throat, the old lady, clutched the piece of wood with both of her trembling hands. Watching how the brute animal tried to rise to its feet. (poor doggie)
Suddenly from behind, another one jumped in the air, but Supetto saw it in time and she counter-attacked with another swing of her stick breaking it into 2 pieces. In that moment the other dog that was on the ground jumped on the old woman's back forcing her to fall face first and started to pull her by the poncho.
Just when she thought she was done for, the weight on her shoulders disappeared. Opening her eyes she saw the beast trembling next to her and turning her head towards Lucy she saw the little kid with her eyes closed holding a piece of wood with both hands. Trembling like a leaf.
"B-bad doggie...D-don't hurt...Don't hurt Supetto...Hic.." A faint smile grazed the woman's lips, but as soon as she heard the ground rumble again she knew she didn't have time to smile.
With the last drops of her strength the woman raised to her feet and leaning on Lucy as support, they started walking again. With each step they took, Lucy felt the old woman, slowly getting weaker and colder.
"Supetto!" She shouted trying to catch the woman from falling to the ground face first again.
"I...Cough...I can't walk anymore...Sweetheart...."
"What...B-but you said that we would go together...I-I won't leave you here..." The blonde kid, stuttered as her hands shivered struggling to embrace the older woman.
"Lucy, my dear, run ... Run right now..." Supetto said in a dying voice.
"N-no ... No! S-Supetto I don't wanna-"
"Go! Go right now!" The old bleeding woman shouted, startling the crying kid.
"Save yourself Lucy. Go! Go away, far away from here-Argh!" The little girl in tears looked at the old woman in her small arms yell at her before starting to cough violently and spit blood.
"B-b-but ... But Supetto is h-hurt-"
"Don't worry! I'm fine-"
"Lucy! Where are you, little brat?" Lucy immediately raised her head towards the end of the corridor with huge frightened eyes.
"Lucy!" The so named girl, stared hypnotized in front of her, ignoring the old lady that was now shaking her. And as expected, the kid saw the guards coming towards them followed by that scary monster. She heard the man yell 'fire!' and saw the guards raise up their rifles. Waiting for the dreading blow, Lucy saw everything slow down.
The smoke coming from the guns, their mouths move in large movements as if they were shouting and the blow that never came. Out of nowhere the old maid's body jumped in front of Lucy. With her arms outstretched and her head down, drops of blood falling down on the ground. There was no sound. It was as if Lucy went deaf for a second before hearing only the woman's voice.
"Go!" Supetto spat blood on the ground before turning her head around to glare at the little girl. Trembling the small kid crawled back on her elbows. Her big scared eyes glued on the old woman's face, who was now smiling.
Go ... Save yourself, my little chained angel... I won't let any more of this madness continue... Those were the last words thought by the woman, before she fell to the ground, lifeless, with a smile on her chapped lips. Just like all of the others who died before her.
A petite Lucy was running through the halls of her immense mansion.
Her small legs with various wounds here and there, couldn't pull her forward anymore, her little lungs were working more than they should have and her vision was becoming more and more blurred even though they were wide open from sheer terror. Rivers of tears came out of her big brown eyes, and they didn't seem to stop. With the fear of blinking and finding that hideous monster in front of her, the little hopeless girl kept running inside her house, aimlessly, but with a goal.
Run away.
"Lucy ... where are you going~?" The little girl jerked at the sound of that false yet sweet voice behind her, deep in the corridor. The girl ran while looking back horrified and because of that she tripped over the red carpet.
"O-ouch ..." She cried out.
"Lucy~?"
"Ah!" Lucy suddenly stood up, ignoring the blood coming from her left knee and tried to run again. Once she reached the end of the corridor, she collided against some guards.
"Here she is! We found her!"
"N-no! L-let me go!" The girl screamed while kicking her feet trying to free herself somehow.
"H-hey! Stay still-Argh!" The child was able to run away from the guard's grip by biting his hand. Once free, Lucy ran towards another corridor and suddenly she decided to enter a room on the left, thinking that it would have lead her out of the house or that it would have hid her well. But to greet her was total darkness.
She hated the dark. She was dead afraid of it. Her heart was beating in her throat, pain was pulsing through out her small body and especially her left knee, she wouldn't stop crying and it was so hard not to make any noises come out of her mouth. She felt like fainting at any moment, tired of running and never taking a break since, who knows how long.
Walking in the dark with her little trembling hands in front of her, she finally touched something and the second after, the door behind her swung wide open, showing the silhouette of a tall, muscular man.
Lucy, my dear, where are you running? You know you're only making me angry?" A little Lucy turned around shaking, with pure terror in her eyes as she saw a huge man's silhouette with white light coming from behind him. She could see that he was banging a whip against his left open palm.
"N-no ..." Lucy whispered, but she was too scared to run away or to actually shout for help. Those scared big eyes, like a deer's, observed as a wicked smile, pure of evil intent, made its way on the man's face.
"Come, my love~. You're gonna be fine, daddy is here~. Ehehe."
-End of the 'dream'-
Lucy opened her eyes immediately and sat up on her bed. Shaking and covered in cold sweat, she glared at her trembling hands.
Ugh...it's getting more and more real...She thought as she clenched her fists.
"What's getting more and more real?" Lucy froze, hearing that question from a really familiar voice.
Suddenly everything around her turned black.
"W-what...What's going on?!" She stuttered watching with disbelief her hands getting smaller.
"W-why are my hands so small?" She shouted as she clenched and opened them many times.
"What nonsense are you babbling there? Let's go, we don't have any more time." The now small Lucy turned around only to see the silhouette of the last man she wanted to see.
"N-no...Way...I-impossible..." Her big brown eyes met those of her father's.
"Impossible? What's impossible? Are you so happy to meet your own father?"
"B-bullshit!"The little girl glared at the old man that was smirking down at her.
"I know there's no way you can be here, so stop messing with my head!" She shouted as she clenched her small trembling fists.
Because of you I feel like I'm going insane! She thought as she gritted her teeth.
"Oh, but I am here, can't you see? I'm standing right in front of you-"
"Lies! you're just using a dream spell s-so you can control me in my sleep! I know! I'm dead sure you're not true!" As soon as she said those words she slowly started to grow again.
"What nonsense are you speaking, my dear daughter? Let's stop this, come let's-"
"NO! Lies! Everything is just a dream! A spell!" Lucy shouted as she covered her ears with her hands, shutting her eyes closed.
"Lucy..." The sweet and calm voice sneaked though her fingers and into her ears reaching her heart, making it skip a beat.
"No! Shut up! You're not my real dad! Disappear already!" She kept screaming, squeezing her eyes once again, backing away into the darkness.
I want to wake up already! As soon as she thought that the man smirked.
"You sure have changed a lot...Maybe...Because of this young boy."
"Wha...?" As she raised her head her eyes met those of Natsu's, and her heart clenched. The young teen was next to her father, who's hand was on the boy's shoulder.
"Lucy...Why...Why did you lie to us...To me..." His words were as empty and cold as his dead eyes.
"N-no you ….You don't get it.. I-I-!"
"LIAR!" That word went right through the girl's heart breaking it in a million pieces.
"You're a fake...You don't deserve to be with us...Get lost...Don't you ever appear before us..." Said those spiteful words he turned around giving the girl one of the most disgusted looks she had ever seen in her life and slowly walked away towards the light with her father.
"No...P-please...You don't get it...N-N...N-Natsuuuuuuuu!"
Lucy suddenly opened her eyes, gasping for air. It took her a second to take in her surrounding and readjusting her eyes to the light. As she blinked a few times some familiar faces came into focus.
"Lucy get a grip of yourself already!" Loki's voice roared in her face, as her body was powerfully shaken.
"I-I'm ...A-awake...L-Loki, s-stop-you're hurting me!" Lucy shouted, trying to free herself from his grip.
"F-finally...Geez, we've been calling you for hours now! Damn, we thought we've lost you there for a second, girl!" The boy sighed, sitting on the bed next to her feet.
"W-what do you mean lost?... I-I was just s-sleeping..." She stuttered, looking away in order to hide her blush.
"Just ….sleeping?"
"Princess, you've been shouting and screaming while fidgeting for a long time, like a madwoman if I can say." Virgo shamelessly explained with a straight face, leaving Lucy speechless.
"Also you were shouting about a Nat-!"
"Nightmare!" Loki suddenly shouted, slapping his hand on the maiden's mouth.
"Y-yeah, well more or less, you did t-that..."The boy clarified, tugging on his tie, hoping that the blonde girl would believe him.
"E-either way... Thanks for waking me up, but you didn't have to... A-and stop coming out of your gates on your own!"
"Well, actually, we came to tell you that you're late for school."
"...What?"
"It's 7 o'clock." Lucy stared at the male teen on her canopy bed, before shouting like crazy.
"What were you thinking!? Why didn't you wake me up earlier, you stupid cat!" The girl stormed into the bathroom and soon after came out with a tooth brush in her mouth.
"I've prepared her clothes princess."
"Nice one, Virgo!" Lucy thumb-ed up her maid spirit, before taking the hems of her t-shirt. She was about to take it off, when she remembered the other spirit's presence. Turning around, she saw him leaning against her beauty table, with a hand on his face, trying to hide his obvious red coated cheeks.
"GET. OUT!" The girl shouted as she kicked the boy out of her room.
"Geez, Lucy! You should start behaving like a girl you know!" The boy said as he raised to his feet, a big bump on his head.
"Don't tell me how to behave! I behave exactly like a woman!" The boy's eyes widened when he saw some golden lock dance in front of his eyes.
"What are you waiting for? We're late." Lucy said as she put on her shoes.
"Ah! Y-yeah, here, this is your lunch pack." He cleared his throat as he gave her a pink box.
"Lunch box? Why?" She looked at it with a doubtful look.
"Don't ask silly questions, you didn't have time to have breakfast, right? Also I've been wanting to ask you about that bandage on your cheek for a while now." Loki said following the girl out of the house.
"Ah! This? I-I fell from the stairs." Lucy quickly lied, increasing the pace.
Lies. Loki thought as he also increased the pace to keep up with her. His serious eyes never leaving Lucy's back.
-flashback-
Lucy finally arrived in front of the Strauss' house after pulling the youngest sibling's body for the whole trip.
"Ghh! AH! Pant, pant..." She shouted as she dropped the young girl's body on the porch's house. With the back of her hand she wiped away the sweat from her forehead.
Ughh ... Why the hell did I do that... It's true, she's Mira's younger sister ... but! The blonde thought as she crouched down, scattering her blonde hair in different directions.
She suddenly stopped and looked behind her, noticing that the girl was no longer there. As her eyes widened she saw a kick directed right at her head. She was quick enough to dodge most of it, but the claws still cut her cheek.
"Who are you?! W-why did you bring me here?" Lisanna shouted as she was about to punch Lucy, who dodge it by doing a backward somersault.
The blonde stayed still, starring right into the girl's blue eyes.
"W-w-why aren't you answering me?!" Lisanna tried to stand her ground even if the blonde girl's behavior confused her.
Why did she save her when she was supposed to kill her? As she watched her cold brown eyes, she noticed something. Guilt maybe?
"Who's out there?!"The sudden cold atmosphere was cut by Mirajane's voice ,and with her voice, also her body. The old Strauss sister opened the door, but froze on the spot once she saw her little sister covered in wounds outside her door.
"L-Lisanna!" She shouted as she reached her, but the short-haired girl quickly closed the door to see that the blonde girl was no longer there.
-End of flashback-
"Anyway, you seem pretty excited to go to school." The boy commented, freezing Lucy on the spot.
"W-what?"
"Don't take it the wrong way, it's a good thing. It means you've found a place where you can feel relaxed and safe." Loki said patting the girl's head as he passed by her at the school's gate.
"R-relaxed ...And safe...?" The girl looked up to see the boy run off towards the school where she's been wanting to be since that morning.
Looking at the building, though, the girl's lips turned into a sour smile. For a second she thought that she's found a place that has accepted her even if not for who she really was. But remembering the 'dream' she had that morning, she felt like she had a lump in her throat and her stomach clench.
Lucy stopped in front of the door of her class and sighed. She could already hear the noise and ruckus from the outside. She clenched her fists taking in all of her courage. Today she was going to do something that scared the crap out of her.
Grabbing the doorknob, she closed her eyes and opened the door:
"G-g-good morning!" She stuttered, before she saw a desk fly right under her nose.
"Oh Lu-chan! Good morning come here, here! Quickly!" Levy, jumped from behind the teacher's desk with an iron pot on her head. With a dead pan face Lucy slowly reached her and once she was there she was pulled down on her knees.
"'Sup', here put this on, you're gonna need it." Cana winked, as she put an iron pot on Lucy's head.
"Wha...What's going...on..." The blonde tried to say, seeing that all the girls were there.
"Who knows, when we came in, this shit was already on." Cana said taking another sip of her booze.
"The teacher...isn't doing anything, right?..."
"Nope, he's here with us!" The blonde girl raised her head to see teacher Warren, gripping his pot on his head, before greeting her.
"Wuss..." Lucy commented, watching with pity and disappointment the teacher. Like all the other girls.
"H-hey it's not my fault! For some reason when I came in everyone was fighting, I-I tried to stop but-! HEADS DOWN!" The man shouted, as everyone ducked down to dodge Elfman's body.
"You're not a man if you don't get hit!" Elfman said before passing out.
"What the hell is he saying?" Lucy whispered to herself before peeking from over the desk.
"That's strange, somehow Natsu seems even more motivated to send Gray to the after world today..." Warren said, as everyone beside Lucy, nodded at the same time.
"Juvia doesn't understand... Somehow Juvia feels like she should be aware of Natsu-san..."A troubled Juvia popped from nowhere near the girls, scaring everyone. Hearing that, Natsu stopped for a second before shouting, as his head burst into flames:
"I'm a maaaaaan!" And after that he started headbutting Gray for good.
"Oh boy, I'm starting to feel sorry for all the fun I had..." Mira said with a hand on her cheek.
"W-what?" Lucy breathed, as she felt like she also had something to do with what was going on.
"Geez you never change do you?" A voice could be heard from the classroom's doorstep.
"Oh right! Guys, look who's back!" Mirajane shouted, smiling from ear to ear.
"Lisanna, my shinning star is here!" Mira skipped towards the white haired girl, before hugging her.
"Ohh c'mon Mira-nee, you're making me blush if you shout it like that!" She jokingly hit her sister on the shoulder.
Everyone stopped from fighting and reached the girl to greet her. Everyone except Lucy that was petrified. She knew she was done for if she got recognized. Slowly she backed away keeping her eyes fixed on Lisanna.
Shit ... I-I have to stay away ....She thought raising to her feet, but as she did that a pair of arms folded around her.
"Good mornin' Luce, why are you walking like you're constipated?" Lucy was quick enough to turn around in his grip and look him in the eyes. She wanted to glare but her eyes more likely showed fear or preoccupation.
"Hmm? Oh Natsu, there you are!" Lisanna looked up to see a blonde girl run away from Natsu's embrace.
"What's wrong Lisanna?" Mira asked seeing her sister look intensely where Lucy has run off. She felt like she had already seen her somewhere.
"Hey...Mira-nee, who was that blonde girl?"
"Hmmm, oh you mean Lucy? She's a transferred student, and Natsu's girlfriend ahaha!"
"W-w-w-what!? "Lisanna exclaimed, suddenly looking at Natsu.
"Mooo, you're already cheating on me?!"
"What cheatin' and cheatin' are you in for some jokes, hah?" Natsu smiled scattering Lisanna's hair.
"Now, sorry but I hafta go and talk to Gramps."
"Hmmm ..." Confused by his behavior, Lisanna watched Natsu run in the same direction where Lucy had run away a second before.
"What do I do ..." Lucy whispered to herself walking in circles. If she got busted, her disguise was also done for and the last thing she wanted was to have more enemies.
"At this rate I have to make my moves faster ..."
"What moves? Miss. Lucy Ashley." Turning around she saw Lisanna look straight in her brown eyes. Lucy stood still, as the young Strauss walked around her observing ever inch of her body,
"Hmm, I see why Natsu has a thing for you, you have ... I don't know ... an indefinable element of danger." She stressed the last word, looking right into her eyes. Lucy could only gulp down the lump that she had in her throat, as her thought were running wild.
"R-r-really?" She stuttered seriously, putting a hand on her whip.
"Pff ... Hahaha! I was just joking! What's with this reaction? Nice to meet you, I'm Lisanna Strauss. Mira's little sister. "She said extending a hand. Lucy looked at it carefully before grabbing it, but once she did it, Lisanna pulled her to sit on a bench nearby.
"Here, these are some cookies made by my sister, they are very good!" The girl giggled, pushing a plastic box of biscuits into Lucy's lap.
"Umm ... I-I ... T-thank you ..." The blonde girl said with a defeated tone, as she took a biscuit.
She doesn't remember me...? She thought suspiciously, taking a bite. After hearing the young Strauss say how Mira was telling her everything that was going on at school every single day and hearing her childhood with Natsu, Lucy began to think that she really didn't recognize her. However the atmosphere suddenly changed when in the box there was only a single cookie left.
"Hey Lucy-chan..."
"Lucy-chan?" Lucy irked an eyebrow.
"Can I ask you something?"
"Y-yes?..."
"Where were you 2 days ago?" Lisanna asked seriously. And as soon as she heard that question, Lucy almost choked on her own saliva.
"U-ummm..." The girl muttered, trying to come up with an excuse.
"I feel like I've seen you somewhere before...Do you know where's my school? I mean, Edolas high school?" The girl asked, staring directly into her eyes. Lucy was starting to sweat cold, when suddenly she stopped fidgeting and Lisanna noticed this unusual change. The white-haired girl raised an eyebrow as she tilted her head to see Lucy's face better.
"No. I don't have the faintest idea where your school is. I moved here recently and I doubt that you've seen me somewhere around two days ago, because I rarely leave my house. "
Lucy stated firmly, her voice so cold, it froze the atmosphere.
There was a moment of silent exchange of glances between the two girls, when from afar they heard Natsu's voice shouting Lisanna's name. Hearing that voice Lucy jumped to her feet and her expression changed right away showing fright and pain.
Surprised, Lisanna saw Lucy run away quickly before Natsu came.
"Hey Lisanna, were you with Luce? Why did she ran away like that?" Natsu asked, looking at girl's figure fade away.
"I would like to know that too ..." Lisanna seriously whispered looking in the same direction.
"I need to do something...Right now...There's no more time left-" Suddenly Lucy stopped in her steps, seeing some of Minerva's men walking down the street in front of her school. Hiding behind a tree she tried to listen to what they were saying.
"Those fuckers tried to get into the hospital again."
"The Boss said to kill the chick, while Minerva-sama said to move her again. Geez, what the heck are we supposed to do?"
"I dunno but, it's better if we follow Minerva's words right now. I don't wanna lose another limb" The words got less and less comprehensible as they walked away.
"They...They got into the hospital again? Kill the girl?" Lucy, tried to put together the pieces and realized who they were talking about.
Sting and Rogue! She thought surprised.
"Yo, bro, you really need to see a doctor, you've got some real problems!" Gray grunted as he punched Natsu's arm.
"Shut up, or I'll whoop your ass again. Hmm?" Natsu stopped seeing Lucy hiding behind a tree.
"Hmmm? What is Lucy doin' lookin' like a stalker?" Gray asked, following Natsu and folding his hands behind his head.
"Hey Luce, what's goin' on-" They saw Lucy suddenly run away and without double thinking, they looked at each other and followed her.
Shit, I can't believe I'm doing this right now. Lucy thought, seeping trough the front gate of a big hospital. She easily followed the two men without realizing that she too was being followed by Natsu and Gray.
On the last floor, at the end of a hall there was a big door with two men standing in front of it.
"What's the password?" One of them asked.
"I need to hear it." Lucy thought biting her bottom lip. Seeing a janitorial cart laying next to a corner she rolled towards it. But as soon as she got there, also Natsu and Gray rolled behind her.
"Yo!"They whispered as a dead pale Lucy stared at them speechless and confused.
"Nirvana shall be released" Gray and Natsu noticed how Lucy's eyes lost their life as they heard the password.
"Hey Luce, you ok?" Natsu whispered, grabbing Lucy by the arm before she quickly slapped it away. A moment of fear passing trough her eyes before they returned to normal.
"What-"
"Who's over there!?" A man shouted and feeling like they got busted they suddenly looked at each other before running away.
"What, the fuck, are you guys doing here?" Lucy shouted as they managed to hid in the janitor's room, just in time.
"We saw you lookin' funny behind a tree and so we followed you." Gray explained crossing his arms.
"And now that we can talk with you, watcha doin' following two suspicious dudes to a hospital?" He asked irking an eyebrow.
"M-mind your own business!" Lucy stuttered as she tried to glare at Gray who was unfazed by it.
"I have no idea why you followed them Luce, but those were some really dangerous lookin' chaps, ya better stay away from them." Strangely, Natsu was impassive and serious as he said that.
"I have my reason to be here, so can you please get lost?" Lucy asked, as she sighed in distress. Natsu and Gray looked at each other and with their arms crossed on their chest they said together:
"No way."
"Oh God...." Lucy face-palmed. They heard some noise and immediately hid behind some shelves.
"Did you see what they are doing to that poor girl in room 392? Yukino Aguria wasn't it?" A nurse said coming into the room.
"Yeah, not only they stormed in demanding to do as they say, but they also told us to slowly poison her! Poor soul, I really wish I could do something for her."
"Sigh, I agree...Now that you've reminded me, did you bring her any food?"
"Soon I will, I still have some errands to do." And so they left, talking about another topic.
"What the fuck bro?! There's some messed-up shit goin' on here" Gray said in a disgusted voice, as he got to his feet.
"Yeah I agree-" Natsu turned around to see Lucy, tremble with her head hanging low.
Yukino Aguria...W-wasn't she also a celestial mage?...Where have I heard her name before? Lucy thought, clenching her fists, as she tried to remember.
"Luce?" His sharp eyes caught a glimpse of gold light coming from beneath Lucy's skirt. The girl suddenly got to her feet and went towards the door.
"Where are ya goin' Blondie?" Gray asked, seeing the girl turn around and with full determination say:
"To save an innocent soul, no?" She said before leaving. The boys looked at each other and smirked before following her again.
"I've already told you to not follow me!" Lucy whispered, blushing from all the attention they were getting. They disguised themselves, so they could blend in with the environment. Lucy was a sexy nurse, dressed in a pretty pink dress. Unfortunately it was a little tight for her, so some places were hard not to notice.
"Daaaamn, Lucy you sure got the looks." Gray commented, but he himself, was stunning. He also was dressed as a nurse and his muscles were really showing beneath his clothes.
"Shut that mouth of yours before I turn you into a poodle of water." Natsu glared at Gray who backfired with an insult. Natsu instead decided to dress himself as a doctor.
"Cut it out, you numbskulls!" Lucy whispered through her gritted teeth. They once again reached the last floor. Creeping close to the wall, Lucy peeked over the corner and said:
"There are still, two men in front of the door."
"Good let's get in!"
"Fuck yeah!" Gray and Natsu cracked they bones as they smirked.
"Don't you dare burst in like the idiots you are!" Lucy threatened, gaining a disappointed and serious look from the boys.
"Listen, we have to work with extreme care, if something goes wrong we're dead, checked out, tossed into summer land, extinct, gone, earth life closed. Capisce?"
"Geez woman, we got it. No need to go on like that." Gray rolled his eyes.
"Sooo how are we gonna get in?"
"I have an idea. Just stick with me and Don't. Do. Anything. Stupid!" Lucy glared. She thrust her chest out proudly and untied her ponytail leaving her blonde locks falling down like a gold waterfall.
"Umm, excuse me, we're here to check on the girl and give her food as usual." Lucy fluently spoke pointing to a cart full of food and medicines behind her. The two men with a stern face, looked at the girl from the top to the bottom and merely glanced at the two boys behind them. Natsu was clutching his fists along his side, hating how those disgusting men were eyeing his woman.
"Damn, girl, you've got some nice strawberry creams! What's the password, babe?" Gray elbowed a growling Natsu.
"The password is N-!" Lucy was about to answer, but she stopped in the process. She suddenly started to tremble and stutter.
"T-T-The password i-is... " Lucy tried to gulp down the lump in her throat. She couldn't say that word, it was as if her body was fighting against her.
"N-N-Ni...N-N-" Suddenly a hand covered her eyes and she felt a light force pull her back against something solid.
"Nirvana shall be released." Natsu with a low, throaty voice answered in her place. She shivered in pleasure, biting down a moan as she felt his warm body against her back, as she smelled his cologne before feeling his body move away.
The two men looked at each other for a second and with a doubtful look they opened the door.
With a strong impact a man stopped Gray, slamming his hand on the boy's chest, as he was trying to go trough the door.
"15 minutes. No more. No less."
"Jackass." Gray said as the door closed behind him, dusting off his shirt.
"We need to be quick, Luce, you ready?" Lucy looked up to see Natsu smile down at her.
"Y-yeah" She quickly blushed.
"Dude, look at this chick...She looks ..Weak..."
"We need to get her out of here!" Lucy said grabbing her by the arm.
"Woah, slow down, cowgirl, and how are you goin' to get her out of here?" Gray said grabbing her report card. Flipping trough the sheets, his face scrunched up.
"What's wrong?" Natsu asked as he looked around the room, feeling something strange in the air.
"All of her tests are below the average...There's a small but stable decrease..."
"So? Can you get to the point already?" Lucy asked impatiently, her arms crossed on her chest.
"She's dying dude, she's still livin' because she's attached to that machine."
"What?" Lucy angrily shouted as she swept the medical record from Gray's hands.
"Those mother-..." The girl breathed as she trembled with anger.
"Guys."
"What?" Gray and Lucy said in union as they both turned towards Natsu who was sniffing a corner of the room.
"We gotta get outta here. Now." Natsu said firmly. He suddenly turned around and pulled out from the plug all of the cords that connected the machine to the current.
"What the hell are you doing Pinky?! Didn't you hear what Gray said?"
"There's a sleeping gas leak, if we don't get outta here we're all gonna get roasted. Even this chick!" Lucy was so speechless she didn't know what to do. She still couldn't understand how his nose could work so well.
"Gray, ready? let's do this." Natsu said as he positioned himself behind the bed.
"I'm always ready, bro." Gray smirked as he stretched his shoulders. His shirt already on the ground.
"G-Guys, don't do this, it will get us into trouble-!"
"3-2-1!" Natsu shouted before the doors swung open.
"Ice maker! Floor!" Gray screamed as a rail of ice formed on the ground making the two bodyguards slip and fall on the ground. As soon as they fell Natsu pushed the bed out of the room and onto the ice rail, making the escape quicker.
"Oh, forget it!" Lucy shouted as she took her whip out. They managed to get trough the second and first floor, passing through all the guards like a hurricane.
"Damn, Luce, leave some even for me!" Natsu said punching away a guard and thus saving Lucy's ass.
"Pinky!" Lucy screamed her lungs out.
"What!?"
"The girl!" They both turned around to see the bed roll away from them.
"What the fuck are you guys doin'!?" Gray shouted as he punched a guard and jumped over his crouching body to run after the bed.
"Hey! It's not my fault! Flame brains left the bed all of a sudden- W-watch out!" Lucy yelled, grabbing on of the bed's legs with her whip and thus making it turn so it wouldn't crash against a wall. Even though she managed to turn the bed she fell face first, losing the grip on her whip.
"Ouch..." She whined while biting her lip, trying to get up.
"Lucy!" With the end of the eye, she saw a dark figure hover over her body ready to hit her with a sword. In the blink of an eye everything around her caught fire. It was surprising yet terrifying at the same time. The man screamed in pain as his face lit up in flames and the young girl watched petrified as the man rolled on the ground in front of her. A force pulled her from the ground and took her away from that insane scene.
"Gray!"
"Natsu! Bro, we're fucked, they barricaded the entrance we gotta find another way out. By the way, why are you carrying Lucy on your shoulder?"
"The upper floor is on fire."
"Man, are you fuckin' nuts?!" Natsu just laughed his ass of, putting Lucy on the ground.
"Either way, we gotta get moving!" Gray said taking the weak girl in his arms. As Natsu and Gray were busy trying to find a way out of the hospital, inside Lucy's mind the image from before kept replying again and again, almost as if it were taunting her. She managed to get back to reality when she felt her keys shiver beneath her skirt. Confused at first, she realized her spirits were enthusiastic with what was going on. They also wanted to help.
"No! Stop! I'm not gonna use you guys!" Lucy whispered through her gritted teeth, but as soon as she said those words the keys started to wiggle even more, emitting a bright gold light. The girl quickly tried to hide the light with her hands looking back and forth between the guys and her keys.
"O-ok! I get it, stop moving!" She looked around and saw Natsu and Gray in a corner trying to take down a metal door. Going the other way, Lucy hid behind a counter and whispered:
"Gate of the maiden, I open thee!" As she spoke those words Virgo appeared from the ground, right in front of Lucy's legs.
"You called, princ-Mphm?" A muffled sound, came from the spirit's mouth.
"Shhh! Virgo can you quickly make a tunnel out of here, like really far!?"
"As you wish master." As soon as she said those words she disappeared underground, leaving a hole behind her.
"G-guys!" Lucy shouted as she popped up from behind the counter.
"Here, I found a way out, quickly!" Blocking them from asking questions she pushed them towards the hole and out the building in a blink of an eye.
"Where the hell are we?" Natsu asked as he got out of the tunnel.
"Are...Are we out of the city? How...?" Gray asked, totally confused. They were on a mountain near the city. With the end of her eye she saw Virgo, raising from the dark woods. The young maid bowed before disappearing into nothing.
"...Thank you..." Lucy whispered as she finally breathed her problems away.
"Thank you, who?" Natsu asked, as he quickly approached Lucy. Backing away, she only made two steps before colliding with a tree.
"W-wha-?" She flinched, as Natsu roughly slammed his hands next to her face on the tree. His body hovering over hers.
"How did you find that hole Lucy?" He whispered with a dead serious face.
"Guys, cut the crap, I'm still here ok? We gotta get down from this mountain before it gets too dark, and the light from the hospital on flames ain't gonna help that much!" Gray rolled his eyes, motioning a puking gesture with his finger.
"Y-You're right! Let's get moving, my house is in this area!" Lucy managed to run away from Natsu's body cage and quickly follow Gray down a small pathway. Natsu watched as his friends' figure got smaller and smaller before looking down at the hole. He knew something was off. First the light, the hole, the weird smell he has never felt before and lastly the whispered thank you. Lucy was hiding something. And he couldn't put his finger on it. He put his hands in his pockets and slowly started to follow his friends' scent. His sharp eyes never leaving the back of the blonde girl.
It was late, but they managed to reach Lucy's house.
"Where can I lay her?" Gray asked, looking around the house with an amazed face.
"There's the couch. I-I'll bring the first aid kit." Lucy quickly ran up the stairs ignoring once again, Natsu's burning stare.
"I don't have enough in the kit but it should be enough to stop-"
"Why can I still smell that carrot-head's stench?" Natsu abruptly cut her, freezing her on the stairs. She couldn't see him from where she was but she could, sure as hell, say that from his behavior, his eyes had turned into those devilish green eyes.
"What the heck are ya talkin' about bro? I can't smell anything..." Gray said opening a can of soda. Lucy couldn't think of any better excuse, but she knew she had to come down and deliver the first aid kit. She closed her eyes and prayed with all her might, but as soon as she turned the corned to go into the living room she ran into Natsu's chest. He was coldly staring down at her with his arms crossed on his chest.
"H-Here's the first aid kit!" Lucy swiftly dodged him and ran towards Gray. Confused, Gray watched as Lucy took his arm and covered it with some bandages.
"What are you doin'?"
"I'm t-treating you, can't you see? B-By the way, what can we do, with that girl? You said she needed the machine to stay alive."
"Don't worry" The boy said throwing some IV fluids on the coffee table. Lucy angrily turned towards the young teen who answered with a:
"What? It's the Hospital's treat. " Lucy pulled strongly on the gauze making him yelp in pain. As soon as she finished with Gray, Natsu pushed Gray away and extend his arm in front of the girl, making it clear that he also wanted to be treated. She felt his eyes burn her entire body as she touched his arm. His body was warm to the touch and her fingers trembled as they came into contact with his muscles. Curious she peeked up at the boy only to quickly look back down. His face was damn sexy when he was that serious. She bit her lip trying to push away all the dirty thoughts.
"D-D-Done..." She stuttered, as she got to her feet trying to run away.
"I still have an injury left." Natsu pulled the girl down who easily fell into his arms.
"Ugh, I'm hungry," Gray sighed as he got to his feet, shamelessly making his way into the kitchen. Natsu took his shirt off, revealing a deep cut on his side.
"What? Are you going to treat me, or are you going to eat me?" He taunted her, seeing her face quickly bright up.
"S-shut up!" The boy raised his arms as the girl got closer so she could roll the gauze around his clearly sculpted and robust torso. He was stunning even when he was covered in ugly scars. She couldn't say anything to run away from that awkward situation. She did everything to not touch his body but as her fingers briefly grazed his torso, she could feel the boy's chest go up and down. Once she reached the end of that agonizing torture, he caught her hand and kissed a small cut on it. He gave her one of his sexiest and provocative looks before pulling her into a tight embrace. She heard him take in all of her scent, before releasing a deep low growl.
"I hate it..." He whispered into her ear.
"I really hate it when you're together with that guy...Why do you keep teasing me?" He growled into her ear, making her tremble and moan. Surprised by her reaction, he dropped his guard and she pushed herself away from him. A hand covering her mouth as her deep pink stained cheeks showed how embarrassed she was. Taken aback he watched as she quickly backed away, turning her face away from the boy. That sound was ringing into the boy's ears and hear was beating like crazy.
"Yo, Lucy, why didn't you tell me you knew how to make dumplings, girl?! They're my shit!" Gray shouted, bringing into the room with him a plate full of dumplings. He quickly sat on an armchair and with his other free hand he took the remote control and turned on the TV. Slowly feeling the awkward atmosphere and the burning anger coming from his right, he looked towards his classmates and with a cocky attitude, he asked:
"What?"
"Ugh... Nothing! You, frozen jerk...".
"Ok, the girl's alright for now even if it would be better if she gets some real medical treatment, by the way nice room Lucy, I bet it's a blast to sleep on that bed."
"T-thanks..." Lucy, whispered, remembering the fact that she managed to get a good sleep only twice.
"B-but, what are you doing with my pillows and blankets?" The girl confusedly watched as the boys came down the stairs.
"Don't worry, tomorrow Wendy's gonna check on her."
"W-what?" Lucy exclaimed, as the boys passed by her and went into the living room.
"Oh, yeah, she has some healing magic or something like that, right?"
"G-guys? What are you doing?"
"It's dragon-slaying magic, fucker." Natsu jokingly punched his arm.
"Ahaha, but yeah, it can also heal people, ya know she wants to study medicine so she could become a doctor. "
"Lucky her." Gray breathed, as he put his pillow on the ground.
"What the hell do you think you guys are doing!?" Lucy shouted as the boys shamelessly got under the blankets.
"What do you think we're doing? We're going to sleep." They once again said in union, angering Lucy.
"And why are you sleeping at my house?!" The boys looked at each other before Gray answered:
"Why not?"
"Because it's my house!"
"And so?"
"Get out!" Lucy shouted in despair.
"Luce." Natsu suddenly said.
"Did you hit your head?"
"W-what?" The blonde girl irked an eyebrow, trying to look strong even if her cheeks were flaring up again. That serious expression was surely becoming her weakness.
"We kicked some dangerous lookin' dudes' asses and we don't know if they're gonna come after us." Gray said cracking his neck.
"So?"
"So we have to stay together." A moment of silence fell on them, as Lucy tried to process what was going on. She was tired, hurt and confused as hell; she couldn't keep up with these pinheads' way of reasoning.
"Listen Lucy, we're not gonna do anything, we just want to stay together if any attack occurs, so we can lean on each other."
"E-eh?"
"That's our school's way of doing things. If things get nasty, get together and lean on your friends. Or something like that" Gray yawned, before closing his eyes.
"Yeah, so stop your ramblings and get to sleep, we ain't gonna do shit." Natsu said winking at the dumbfounded girl.
"And where am I supposed to sleep?! That girl took my whole bed!"
"On the couch, isn't is obvious?" The black haired boy yawned as he turned around, giving her his back.
"G'night Luce."
"W-wait!" She couldn't argue anymore with the 2 teenagers since they immediately fell asleep.
"Geez..." Lucy sighed as she fell on the couch, She never had a sleepover and she never thought of ever doing one, even less with some boys! She twisted and turned around but she couldn't find the right position to sleep. Her thought going back and forth at what happened that day. Looking at the boys she was surprised to see how they fell asleep so quickly inside a stranger's house. Her eyes shifted to Natsu's back. Even from behind his broad back, looked firm and sturdy. She almost wanted to get up and go snuggle next to it. And with that strange idea wandering through her thoughts, she slowly drifted off to sleep.
In the middle of the night a constant ringing phone woke the girl up. Recognizing it was hers, she got up to see what was the reason behind all that noise. She had several lost calls and many messages. The last message was from Sting.
-Next time we'll attack Fairy Tail high school. Get ready, Sting.-
"What do you mean with:"we'll attack Fairy Tail?" A husky voice said from behind Lucy's back. Petrified in her spot, she slowly tried to turn her head around. She was faced with Natsu's dead serious face.
"What are you hiding Luce?"
