Ch. 7
*knock knock* "Master Inutaisho?"... *knock knock knock* "Master Inutaisho!" A muffled voice yelled through the door. Inutaisho groaned groggily. *knock knock knock*
"Dude, get the door!" Kyo yelled throwing a pillow at him.
"Alright! Alright!" He said sliding out of bed. He stumbled across the unfamiliar room to the door. When he opened it a demon with long straight blonde hair and bright blue eyes was standing there looking a little nervous.
"M-master Inutaisho I presume?" She asked/said with a bow.
"Uh yeah. But you can just call me Inutaisho."
"Eh I could never do that!" She shrieked looking up, her eyes wide. "You are Lord Sesshomaru's son!"
Inu rolled his eyes, "And what's your name?" He asked. "Oh I'm Kimi I'm kinda like your personal servant."
"So um Kimi, what time is it?" He asked tiredly.
"Oh um a little before dawn." She replied cheerfully.
He sighed rubbing his hand over his face, "And why are you waking me before dawn?"
"Oh!" She exclaimed as if she just remembered. "Your father is waiting for you in the dojo. For your training."
He hit his head against his left hand that was rested against the door frame. "This early in the morning?" He whined.
"Lord Sesshomaru trains every morning before his royal duties." She quickly explained.
He looked down at himself. "All I have is my uniform..."
She rolled her eyes, "Come on!" She said barging through the door leading the way with her candle.
Kyo threw the blanket over his eyes dramatically burrowing further into the couch. "The light it burns!"
Kimi giggled. "That's my friend, Kyo." Inu said as she led him to the closet. "Uh isn't this all Sesshomaru's stuff?" He asked as she opened the door.
"Yes. But there should be something in here that fits you." She said pulling out a pair of pants. "Way to big..." She said putting it back and going further in. "A seamstress will be here later today to take your measurements but until then... This should work!" she said presenting the clothes to him. "I'll wait in the hall while you get dressed. And please hurry, master Inutaisho." She said with a bow.
As soon as she left he sighed and began to change. The pants surprisingly fit though he felt like he was wearing a costume. He chose not to wear the top but a tank top that he had on underneath his uniform. Kyo peaked his head out of the covers to look at him. He snorted, "Nice puffy pants."
"Shut up!" He said walking to the door. He gave his bed one last longing look.
"Have fun." Kyo joked as he rolled back over. Inutaisho glared at him as he opened the door.
As soon as he opened he saw Kimi pacing. "Ah! We must go master Inutaisho, lord Sesshomaru does not like to be kept waiting."
Inu sighed, "Yeah, yeah."
He walked behind her as she took quick steps trying to hurry. "Do the clothes fit alright?"
"Yeah actually. They fit perfect." Inutaisho said looking down at the 'puffy pants'. "Though they're not really my style."
"I figured as much. Lady Kagome felt the same way. But you can get some clothes that suit you soon." Kimi said turning her head with a smile.
"You knew my mom when she first came here?" Inutaisho asked speeding up to walk beside her.
"Oh yeah the castle was abuzz about Lord Sesshomaru finally finding someone to settle down with. There were some in the court who questioned it but Lady Kagome quickly nipped that in the butt."
"How so? And why would they question it?"
"Because she was human, of course." She said with a roll of her eyes. "But she quickly released her spiritual energy. And with her strength it was enough to sting everyone's skin. And those who did challenge her still, she challenged to a duel. Which of course lead to their utter embarrassment." She finished with a smirk walking out a set of doors that led outside. "Have you seen the dojo yet?" She asked turning her head to look at him. He shook his head no. "It's immaculate!" She said clasping her hands together enthusiastically. "Your grandfather, Lord Inutaisho had this dojo built by the best architects in all of Japan. He started the project the day Lord Sesshomaru was born. He wanted to teach his son how to protect himself against the dangerous world out there." Inutaisho stayed silent for a while. "I was your mother's personal servant before she left... She used to talk about when she first came here and even years after I could still tell... This world was very strange to her. But she found her home in the people she loved and cared about here. I really hope that you can do the same."
Inutaisho shakily said, "I'm really trying to... I'm just brand new here." She gave him a smile. He looked up and saw the dojo. It was a round wooden building with intricate carvings of battles all around it. "Um... What is training like with Sesshomaru?"
She gave him a weary look, "I have heard Lord Sesshomaru can be rather rough... But he only wants you to be prepared for any enemy you come across!" He gulped. "Believe me your father is very happy that you're here. That he has a son. He's wanted a true child of his own for a very long time. Even if he doesn't admit it. Just remember he's getting to know you just like your getting to know him." She said as they reached the door. She looked into his eyes as if trying to inforce the importance of this to him. He nodded his head as he reached for the handle. "Oh and that he's trying to teach you to protect yourself against those who may wish you dead..." Inutaisho got the chills from that statement and the seriousness in her voice. No one wished him dead in his own time. No one tried to kill him there. He closed his eyes took a deep breathe and opened the door to the dojo.
Sesshomaru was wailing on a wooden dummy. He spun on the back of his heel facing Inu, "You're late." He stated
He rested his hand on tenseiga nervously. "I didn't realize how early we were training and I had a little trouble finding clothes to fit me..."
"I'll excuse your lateness for today. But only for today. I'm glad you brought tenseiga, now draw it."
"Excuse me?" Inutaisho asked confused.
Sesshomaru held his wooden sword out poised for battle. "Draw your weapon." Inutaisho clumsily did as he was told. And stood awkwardly half tensing himself half cowering.
Sesshomaru only sighed and started his assault. Inutaisho barely blocked a few swings before Sesshomaru hit him across the chest; he flew backward and hit the ground hard. "You'll never defeat anyone with a stance like that. You must be strong and flexible in your movements. Get up." Inu glared at him and stood up. "Now widen your stance." Inu shuffled his feet. "And hold your sword with confidence." He sighed and gripped his sword with both hands pointing it at Sesshomaru. As soon as he did Sesshomaru went on the attack again. He swung out and Inutaisho clumsily blocked. Sesshomaru swept his feet out from under him with his leg. He pointed the wooden sword at his throat. "Dead." He said pulling it away and walking back to the center of the room.
"What?" Inu said sitting up.
"If this was a real fight you would have just died." Sesshomaru said turning to him. "And I wouldn't have been able to knock you off your feet if you kept a strong stance. Now get up." Inu stumbled up. Sesshomaru began his assault again. He was hit in the knee and Inu dropped in pain. He felt the smooth wooden tip of Sesshomaru weapon against his neck. "Dead." He said walking away.
He looked up rubbing his knee, "Well maybe if you taught me instead of just attacking me!" Inu growled out.
Sesshomaru whipped around, "And you think you're enemy will stop to teach you before he kills you? Now get up!" Inu glared at his father as he stood. "Now prepare yourself." Inu did what he was told; almost as soon as he started his attack did Inu fall. It continued like this Inu being knocked to the ground and Sesshomaru proclaiming him dead. Inutaisho laid on his back breathing heavy. Sesshomaru walked past where he was lying on the floor. "Training is over with for today." Inutaisho let out a small sigh of relief. "The whole time during training you didn't attack me, why not?"
Inu sat up on his right elbow, "I didn't know I was allowed to?"
Sesshomaru was halfway out the door, "And would you wait for your enemy's permission before you attack them?" Were his parting words as he left the dojo. Inutaisho laid back down defeated.
"Rough morning?" He heard his mother ask as the door shut behind her. He sat up and turned around towards her. "Well you're doing better than my first day of training if you can still move." Kagome joked. She wore dark blue long flowy silk pants they had a light pink Sakura pattern. She wore a more feminine top that matched the pants.
"I'm literally sore everywhere!" Inu complained. "That wooden stick may not have a point but it still hurts!"
"Trust me I know. And how he annoyingly proclaims you dead every five seconds. I got that point as soon as I fell!" Kagome laughed sitting beside her son. "I think I fell a million times my first lesson and didn't even get a single block in."
"Really?" Inu asked. He at least was able to block once or twice before he got knocked on his ass.
"Yeah, but eventually I got better with a sword, and then I got good, and then I was really good... Though the training is very harsh it definitely has its pay out. So... How was your first day?" Kagome asked bumping shoulders with him. "Get any good blows in?"
"I blocked a few times before I got knocked on my butt. But honestly I didn't know I could try to strike back." Inu said awkwardly. Kagome began to giggle uncontrollably. "Mom!"
"I'm sorry! It's just you really are my son!" She said wiping her eyes. "It took three training sessions for Sesshomaru to finally ask me why I wasn't attacking him and I pretty much said the same thing."
"Oh no!" Inutaisho said falling on his back his hands over his face.
"What? What is it?" Kagome asked worriedly.
He removed his hands a smile on his face. "I'm turning into my mother."
Kagome playfully smacked him. "Yeah, and be careful. There's a whole lot of crazy going on up here." She joked.
He rested his hands under his head. "I can't wait to go back to bed."
"Uh not quite yet..." Kagome said.
"Wait, what? Why?" He said sitting up resting his arm on his bent knee.
"You have another training session with me, remember?"
"Oh come on mom! I'm so tired! And it's so early!" Inu complained.
"Come on it's just some meditations since I knew you were going to be sore. You can go back to bed after that." Kagome said. He sighed and turned towards his mother. "Ok so every demon and miko has their own energy and power. By tapping into them you can become stronger. It can be used in your attacks like how you saw with my sacred arrow or your father's poison whip."
"Ok so how do I use it?" Inu asked.
"Well first we have to tap into it. That's why we're meditating. And even though I'm a miko and your a demon the start of it all is pretty much the same. So sit like me." She said and he copied her crossing his legs resting his hands on his knees. Now your going to take deep breaths. Silence the world around you. And focus on what's going on inside you when you do that you should be able to feel the power inside you. After that you just kind draw it out of yourself. But only a little, demonic energy can be very strong and destructive." Kagome warned him. "Ok now close your eyes and only count the breaths you take." Inu nodded his head and closed his eyes.
Inutaisho found the task very hard every sound made his mind quickly wander. Though he was struggling to stay focused he could already feel his mother's energy hit him in waves. He sighed and started counting again after about 20 minutes of just breathing and almost falling asleep he finally felt the energy his mother was talking about. Though this energy was dark red and much more malicious than his mother's. It made him nervous to even try and draw it out. He steeled himself and started to reach out to it. Right before he did he felt another energy. He stopped what he was doing and he evaluated this one. It was a dark blue instead of a dark red. This one had more of a calming affect. He took a deep breath and went for that one instead. It felt like he was pulling it out of its hiding spot, but as soon as he did it felt as if it soared through his body and outwards. He immediately felt stronger and less sore. It seemed to retreat as soon as he was distracted by his mom's gasp. "What did I do something wrong?" Inu asked confused by her wide eyes.
"I'm just- I can't believe it! I had no inkling of the idea! Heck, I didn't even think it was possible!" Kagome exclaimed excitedly grabbing both of his hands.
Inutaisho was extremely confused. Not understanding what his mom was freaking out about. "Um... What did I do?"
"The energy you just used... It wasn't demonic energy!" Kagome said excitedly.
Inu furrowed his brows, "Then what was it?"
"It was holy energy! Like mine!" She said giving him a hug. "It means you somehow impossibly have both holy and demonic energies inside you!" She pulled away, "I knew you had the demonic energy! I mean I felt that! But never the holy energy!"
"Is that why I'm so weird even for a half demon?" Inu asked.
Kagome's eyes softened. "You're not weird Inu! You're just a little different. And that is what makes you amazing." Inu shrugged his shoulders. "Now none of that! You are amazing and strong and brave. Sesshomaru told me how you stood up to him. I wasn't brave enough for that... Or actually I think I got really mad and yelled at him. But I was also absolutely terrified and I knew Inuyasha would protect me."
"How did you become so close to Inuyasha?" Inu asked.
Kagome smirked, "He was the boy in the tree." She simply replied referring to her old stories.
"Oh... Oh!" Inutaisho exclaimed understanding what she meant and trying to remember all her stories about him. That also made him realize the girl in all those stories was actually his mom.
"Now enough procrastinating lets get back to work. We'll get to your demonic energy another day, but it may be good to practice with your holy energy first anyway." He started practicing with his mom again. Soon he was able to draw it out within five minutes. Their combined spiritual energy bombarded the dojo. Kagome was impressed by the amount of power behind his. Yes, she had a lot of power but it took a very long time to harness it. She was sure he may surpass even her. After thirty more minutes she relaxed letting go of her focus, "Ok I think we're done for today. You did really well! Your spiritual energy is very strong!"
Inu relaxed and stretched, "Yeah I'm great at sitting zoned out." He joked.
"No really! It's not easy for everyone to be able to meditate. And your spiritual energy is almost as strong as mine. As soon as you are able to access it when you want; you can begin training on forming it to your will. Such as a barrier or an attack." They both got up and Kagome started to walk away. But Inutaisho hesitated. His mother turned around curiously.
"I think I'll stay here a little while longer." He said not believing his own ears.
"Suit yourself." She said with a smirk walking out the dojo.
Inu turned to the wooden dummy Sesshomaru was wailing on earlier. If he planned on attempting an attack on Sesshomaru he better be able to actually do it. He drew his sword while walking up to the dummy. He felt silly attacking an inanimate object but he took a swing at it. Though hitting it he lost his balance and teetered for a second. He grumbled to himself knowing a 'strong stance' would change that. He widened his stance a little and tried again. He was more successful this time. He gained a little more confidence in himself and continued his assault. After thirty minutes he finally fell to the ground panting and exhausted.
