Chapter 4: Healing Hands
The warmth from the light of newly risen sun stirred Ryoma from whatever dream he had been having and back to the world of the living. He attempted to yawn but quickly became aware that his busted, broken and bruised body was no dream. He sighed deeply looking from his leg in a raised sling to his dominant arm that was elevated and held in place by another sling.
After a devious rumor about Ryoma having used his new-found fame to manipulate the hearts of many spread around, two mean seeking retribution or rather revenge for their own loved ones gave Ryoma a beating to remember when Momo had left his side. Ryoma wondered why those guys were so quick to assume those rumors were true, although Ryoma definitely could have done without the wise ass comments. Either way what was done is done now. He had to face the music, his tennis career could possibly be over and at the simple thought of that his eyes began to tear. Tennis was his whole life, it always had been and he always wanted it to be. What would he do without it.
Ryoma slammed his working hand down onto the bed and then covered his eyes with his arm to hide his tears should anyone come. "How could this happen, why now of all times could such a horrible thing happen?" He cried out lowly "WHY, IT ISNT FAIR!" He shouted. Suddenly Ryoma felt arms wrapping around his waist.
"It's okay, it isn't your fault" Ryoma's eyes had barely adjusted to the light he wiped his arm over his eyes to erase his tears.
"Who are you, what the hell?" He tried to back away from the mysterious girl but to no avail due to his injuries.
"Whoa, whoa relax. I'm sorry I didn't mean to scare you. Please don't move around to much last thing I want is for you to injure yourself any further because of me. Honestly I meant for our meeting to go much smoother." The girl laughed twisting her finger around a lock of her shoulder length black hair.
"Oh my god, you…you must be another of the Kings daughters." Ryoma ran his hand through his own hair stressed by his situation.
"Ah yes, I am Corinne Lilia Vladimir, it's a pleasure to meet you, I have got to say though your way different than what I expected." She says scanning him up and down. Ryoma shifted in his bed obviously uncomfortable.
"This must be awkward for you huh?" Corinne laughed seeming to be a bit embarrassed herself.
"Oh, you think?" Ryoma scoffed a bit. "This is absolutely insane, just like my dad to do something like this to me and simply fail to mention it, how well was I supposed to handle this kind of news so suddenly on the worst day of my life?" Ryoma's exclaimed his distress ever apparent.
"Hey you aren't, the only one dealing with a dad of the year candidate, my sisters and I all got the 'you have a fiancé' bomb dropped on us just about a month ago." Corrine laughs dryly as her gaze shifts from Ryoma to her lap. "It'll be okay, trust me." Corrine sat silently for a moment. Before moving over to his shattered knee cap. She placed both her hands on it and chanted a spell in a whisper. A yellow light radiated from her hands from his knee to her own. She bit her lip but maintained her position over his leg.
"You'll be able to walk in a couple weeks' time, if your doctor asks it you say it was a miracle or they'll send you to the psych ward." Corrine said smiling up at Ryoma.
"What why would you, how…?" Ryoma's face riddled with concern and confusion.
"I was born gifted with healing magic, even though it comes at a cost, I have no problem paying it to help those I care about." She smiled with both her eyes and mouth. "My only regret is not being able to heal your hand, I am not strong enough to handle both injuries. I figured you'd want to be able to walk at the very least…"
"This is too much I don't know what to say… t-thank you Corrine" At the sound of her name Corrine lit up like a light bulb a bright pink spread across her cheeks, before a cloud enveloped her body. Just like that Corrine was gone and in her place a small black cat. Ryoma gasped.
"What the hell, you can even do this?!" Ryoma shouted and Corrine nodded her head.
"Wait so you've been here the whole night?" In that moment Ryoma's door lock turned, someone was coming. Just as the door began to creak open, in an instant Ryoma scoops Corrine's small cat form into his arms and throws his blanket over them both with his working hand. Though no words were exchanged Corrine picked up on the fact it might be best that she once again assumed the role of a stuffed animal, otherwise she ran the risk of being caught and getting Ryoma into heaps of trouble.
A nurse inched into the room in order to check his monitor and IV. After doing so she evened out his sheets and exited his room. Ryoma's heart bet loudly. 'Why is my heart acting this way, what do I care if she gets caught it's her own fault for not coming in like a normal visitor' Ryoma thought looking down at Corrine's feline form which he held tightly in his embrace. He found himself lost in her jade eyes. At that moment he thought, about how displeased Karupin would be with him if she could see him now.
End of Chapter 4
A:N/It's been some years but I never forgot about this story. I want to finish it. I need to finish it. I'll update again very soon.
Also with this story I'm going to try to make everything make as much sense as possible. It has been so many years since I last worked on this story. I did have a flash drive with chapters for rumor laid out but I lost it years ago along with small updates for other stories and I remember nothing about any of them however, I'm going to do my best to outdo the me from the past. Thank you if you took the time to read this. I hope everyone is safe and sound. Its night time where I'm at and very late, good night
