AN: Hey y'all! I know it's been forever and a day since I have written on this...I haven't written anything until today LOL.

Yesterday in a group I host on FB, there was someone I added who needed a beta. My longtime friend accidentally "volunteered" me for the job, which I agreed to willingly. Anyway, I got talking to my new friend and as it turns out, she has read my stuff and likes it. I was floored, however, when she told me this series of fics, my 'Twisted Twilight', helped her through some stuff. I am so very humbled that my writing, which I do for fun, has made an impact on someone. Her enthusiasm and our chats have inspired me to write again, and for that I will be eternally grateful and beholden to her.

So, thank you to Puzzy Power for helping me to find this gem of a girl. I heart you so much, you will never know.

And a very special thank you to my new friend, Shimi1, for being my muse, my friend, and most of all, for believing in me even when I didn't believe in myself anymore. (I am surprised you stuck around this long! LOL) This final chapter of Blush of the Sun is dedicated to you, Meraki1. I cannot express my gratitude enough!

Anyway, I don't own anything Twilight. This has not been betaed, so please excuse any mistakes. I own them all.

Hope y'all enjoy!

JPOV

Edward stood up from his third drained buck and licked his lips. Looking around us, I saw the ground littered with three dead elk and three dead deer. My mate always preferred to go after big bucks. He said they were more hearty than anything else but I knew better. He liked the chase and made a game of dodging the deer's sharp antlers. I loved to watch him play with his food. He was so intense yet he was having so much fun his happiness seemed to radiate from his entire being. Truth be told, it made me horny as fuck. Most of our hunting trips ended with me ravaging him, and that's why no one in the family wanted to hunt with us anymore. The first time we all went hunting back in Forks, I couldn't help myself. I ended up fucking him so hard, we broke more than a few small trees. Poor Esme and Emmett. They couldn't look at us for days.

From the moment Edward opened his crimson eyes to this new life, he excelled in everything he did, with complete control. Aside from his initial freak out, he never again had an issue. On the plane back from Rio, I was concerned he would experience bloodlust, but all he did was hold his breath and buried his nose in a book the entire way. Luckily I spent the time concentrating on him so I wouldn't be tempted.

Walking over to my mate, I pulled him to me and kissed him long and slow. He backed away after only a moment and placed his hand on my chest.

"You know we have to go back right away," he scolded."Everyone's waiting for us."

I fake pouted. Grinning, he replied, "I know what you're thinking, but you know Carlisle's orders."

"I know," I said, leaning in to nuzzle his neck, "but you know how much I want you after we hunt."

Moaning softly, Edward huffed out a chuckle. "Yes I do, and I want you too, but we still have an army of vamps after me."

I sighed, still fake pouting. "Fine. Let's bury these animals and we'll go."

My mate was right, of course, but damn if he didn't know how to push my buttons. One little grin from him had me hard and horny and yes, we had plenty of sex, but I would never get tired of wanting him.

Before we were even back at the house, I could smell the dogs. Why Carlisle asked them to help us was beyond my understanding. We were not weak, and I didn't like to be considered as such. Edward gave me a knowing look and when we were close enough, we leapt up into the open glass doors on the back wall of our bedroom. Thank fuck we were presentable, because Emmett was in our room before we could blink.

"Just in time!" Emmett grinned. "We're all having a meeting in the dining room." He left as quickly as he arrived.

Slowly, my mate and I made our way down to the dining room. My family, and Edward's, was seated around the table and it seemed like all of the extra space was taken up by the wolves. Edward and I leaned against the wall, waiting to hear what Carlisle had to say.

"Thank all of you for joining us for this meeting," Carlisle began. "As all of you know, the army of newborns is getting closer as we speak. Alice informed me that they are scheduled to arrive this evening."

Murmurs of surprise and concerned ran throughout the room and I felt Edward tense beside me. Carlisle held up his hand for silence.

"I know some of you are wondering why they are coming so quickly but, to be honest, I'm surprised they haven't came already. According to Alice, there will be a couple hundred newborns. We have trained and prepared for this as best as we could and I know we are ready. Victory is within our reach. So, for the rest of the afternoon, I suggest you go home, spend time with your loved ones, and we will meet in the meadow at six this evening."

Carlisle stood and watched as the wolves made their way toward the front door. He put his arm around Esme and turned to my mate's father. "You are welcome to stay if you wish."

"That's very kind of you," Mr. Masen replied. "Although, I think we are going to take Bella to the reservation so she can spend some time with Jacob." He turned to look at his son. "We'd like to spend some time with you too."

"I'll bring him to the reservation in a bit," I reassured Mr. Masen. He nodded in thanks and led his remaining family out of the room.

When everyone had left, the house was quiet except for the soft sounds of my brother and sister having a hushed conversation in their room. Carlisle led Esme in the direction of their room, and I had no doubt Alice was meditating.

Edward and I slowly started toward our own sanctuary. Carlisle was right - victory was within our reach, but it could also be taken away in a fraction of a second. All we could do was hope no one made a mistake or underestimated the newborns. I had no doubt my family could handle them; there were just so many. None of us anticipated just how many we were going to have to face.

Once inside our room, I closed the door and pulled Edward into my arms. He rested his head in the crook of my neck and sighed an unnecessary sigh.

"Ae you afraid, my mate?" I murmured.

"Not afraid, per se," Edward answered, his breath tickling my neck. "Just anxious...ready for all of this to be over so we will have no more worries and can get on with our life."

"I know what you mean," I answered with a kiss to the side of his head. "Unfortunately, we will never be free of adversity."

"I know," my mate responded in a whisper, then placed a wet kiss just below my ear.

Tightening my arms around Edward, I moved him toward the large bed we purchased especially for occasions such as this and pushed him down onto his back. His eyes were like molten obsidian, threatening to consume me whole.

In a matter of seconds, all of his clothes and mine were on the floor in a heap and I knelt over him. "You have no idea what you looking at me like that does to me," I breathed, desire clouding my vision.

"Then why don't you show me?" Edward whispered with a smirk, skimming his fingertips up my sides.

With a growl of possession, I leaned down and scraped my teeth up the side of my mate's neck. He arched his back, trying to get more contact. Pulling back slightly, I shook my head.

"Oh no, my mate," I hissed. "You will lie there and let me do as I wish with your gorgeous body."

Before he could answer, I attacked his neck and chest, using my teeth and tongue to their fullest potential. Edward had such a strong hold on my back, I was glad my skin was impenetrable because otherwise, I had no doubt there would be blood flowing.

He writhed, hissed, groaned, and growled beneath me, frustrated because I wouldn't let him get his mouth on me. I loved seeing him like this, wanton and begging. And as much as I would have loved to tease him for hours, my own need was clawing at me. I needed to take him, feel him around me, be consumed by his touch, scent, and love.

And he did not disappoint. Even though we had speed and strength, we made love tenderly, passionately, giving each other everything we needed without saying a word. My mate's moans and cries of pleasure were like a symphony in my ears, as I was sure mine was in his. We moved as one, like a perfectly oiled machine, giving and taking, our noises broken only by words of love and promise and adoration. This was what love was supposed to be like.

Unfortunately, our bliss had to end for the moment, and after we both came with a shout, we lay there trying to catch our unneeded breath. Staring at each other, we lay in silence. No words were needed in that moment. We had told each other through our actions everything that needed saying.

Slowly, as if to prolong the inevitable, we got up, showered, and dressed. It was time to go to the reservation.

^oOo^

In the large center area of the reservation there was a huge bonfire, surrounded by everyone, including the elders. In no time, we located Edward's parents, Bella, and Jacob. They were huddled together, arms around each other's shoulders. Everyone was somber, staring into the fire. Silently, we approached the family.

"Hey," my mate whispered from behind them.

Mrs. Masen immediately stood and pulled her son into her arms. I felt bad for him, being so close. The scent of her blood had to be scorching his throat. Not to mention the stench of the wolves. It was almost overpowering. However, I understood the need she had to be close to her son and he to be close to her.

Edward held his mother at arm's length and wiped the tears from her cheeks. It was then Mr. Masen's turn to embrace his son. No one said a word during the exchange and that got me wondering why. We were on wolf land without permission.

Standing up, one of the elders held his hands up to gain everyone's attention. He wore the traditional garb of old, his lined face cast in a warm glow from the fire.

"We, the Quileute, will be embarking on a dangerous mission this evening. As you all know, we will be joining the Cullen family in protecting all of us from the newborn army of vampires threatening to upset both our worlds. You also know that Bella Masen is Jacob's imprint and her brother is Jasper Cullen's mate. In light of these facts, we Quileute wish to end the treaty and coexist in peace. The Cullen family is hereby welcome to visit our lands and we ask in return the same privilege. Do you accept?"

"We do," said the voice of Carlisle, who led the rest of the family to stand with Edward and I. The elder smiled.

"Good! I believe the spirits will be looking on all of us with favor tonight. My prayer for you is this:

'Happily may their roads back home be on the trail of pollen.

Happily may they all get back.

In beauty I walk.

With beauty before me, I walk.

With beauty behind me, I walk.

With beauty below me, I walk.

With beauty above me, I walk.

With beauty all around me, I walk.

It is finished in beauty.' "

Alice gasped from behind us, effectively breaking the serene moment. "They're coming!"

Everyone around the fire started moving in all different directions. My family and Edward's embraced each other and with many kisses on cheeks and handshakes, we took off for the clearing Alice told us the army would be coming to.

I felt almost human again as I ran through the woods toward our destination. I was a soldier before being turned, and also for a short while after. War was in my blood and always had been. Edward grabbed hold of my hand while we ran. I looked over at him and he was grinning ear to ear. When we stopped at the edge of the clearing, I squeezed his hand.

"What's the grin for?" I asked, knowing full well why he was smiling.

"This is what I was meant to be, Jasper," he said. "A vampire. Here with you in this moment and able to fight alongside my family instead of being scared and having to hide while others fight my battles."

He looked so happy and excited in that moment I couldn't help myself and pulled him to me, kissing him hard.

"Enough sucking face, you two," Emmett said, walking up next to us. "We got some vamp ass to kick!"

My mate and I broke apart, laughing, but sobered up when the collective growl of the wolves rumbled through the trees. Oh yes, it was almost time. If my heart could beat, it would be pounding with excitement.

My family spread out in a line about ten feet in front of the tree line. The wolves lined up right behind us, ready for the word from Alice that the vamps were almost here.

"Dude," Emmett mumbled, elbowing Edward. "Did somebody fart?"

Edward tried but couldn't hold in his snort of laughter, which earned us a stern look from Carlisle. Of course, the wolves heard Emmett's comment too and both Edward and I almost lost our shit when Jacob head butted Emmett right in the ass.

"Five seconds," Alice said abruptly. "And they're running."

Sobering, everyone crouched and tensed, waiting on Alice's word. It came not a second later.

"Now!" she shouted, and we took off running.

We met the first group of newborns right at the tree line on the other side of the clearing. They were easy targets, running and screaming in all different directions, not really knowing what they were doing. I wanted to watch my mate fight, but I didn't dare take my eyes off of the targets before me. It was methodical, in my nature, and I took down vamps from all sides around me with ease. Emmett was still being a dumbass, calling out things such as "suck my ass" and "oh yeah, you know you like it" every time he took down a vamp.

Just as we thought we were making headway and gaining the upper hand, two new groups of newborns rushed in from the sides of the trees. Thank God we had the wolves with us. In short order, the wolves split into two groups and were tearing apart vamps with a vengeance.

The meadow was filled with the sounds of growling, snarling, hissing, and yelling as we took down our enemy. The sounds of vamps being torn apart was almost deafening, and random tufts of fur floated through the air.

All in all, the fight only lasted close to half an hour. As soon as the last newborn was killed and torn apart, James sauntered out of the woods. He surveyed the damage, his smug smile dropping when he saw the army he had created in pieces all over the meadow.

My family was surrounding James in less than a second, the wolves right behind us. I hissed, ready to pounce. This was the asshole that wanted to kill my mate. Edward walked up and put his hand on my shoulder. I glanced at his dirty face and torn clothing for only a moment before training my eyes back on James.

"No, Jasper," Edward said. "This is my fight."

I shook my head. "I want him," I growled.

"He's right, Jasper," Carlisle said then turned to tell the wolves to start piling up and burning all the other vamps. They nodded and went to do as my father asked. They knew it was us who had to deal with James.

Reluctantly, I stood up and moved back a few paces. Edward walked forward in my place.

"So you got them to change you, huh?" James asked with a sneer. "What a waste because I can still take you out."

"So you say," Edward hissed, then leapt on James.

Their fight looked like it was choreographed. Every move James made Edward countered and went in for more. He was using James' temper against him. The more moves Edward blocked or sidestepped, the more pissed James became. He started acting stupid, tripping over his own feet trying to make contact with my mate, and that was his downfall.

Edward saw James start to trip and he went down on one knee, pulling James backward over his leg, and successfully twisted his head off. He pushed the rest of the body off him, stood, and walked straight into my arms.

I ignored Emmett's cries of delight as he dismembered James' corpse and held my mate as tight as I dared. He clung to me, burying his face in my neck. After a few moments he raised his head and gave me the most beautiful smile I had ever seen.

"It's finally over," he said.

"Yes," I replied. "All except for one thing."

My mate's brow furrowed. "What?"

I grinned. "Marry me."

Edward buried his face in my neck again, smiling. "Yes," he whispered.

I held him close, reveling in victory, knowing I was the luckiest vampire on the planet.

I know it's Navajo, but I couldn't find a Quileute one. My apologies.

Thank y'all for reading! One chapter left! :D
