Salvation
By Ayesha Raees

Prologue
Part 2

And as the world evolves
there is a place
where a mother loses her child
and cries in grief
where a father fights till the end
and loses his life.
Then there is the War Song
that everyone sings
in sorrow and with tears…
A song
that is just too often sung.

20000 BC
Battle of Ryun Shan
Agustria VS Evelyn

Rain pattering onto the dry ground
this is holy water of
God's tears.

The war seemed strangely unfair; elves versus humans. Elves were creatures of dignity and grace, speed and power whereas humans were mere creatures who almost took their whole lives to understand themselves before doing anything.

But even then, humans were in greater quantity than the elves and maybe this has triggered the intentions of war in an elf's mind. Elves were creatures after all and creatures loved to kill.

Hurried steps on the ground
Panic screams from the mouths
Nature does not doubt.

The slaughter was greater than expected and bodies kept piling up. Swords were discarded, energy was wasted, blood soaked ground… and strangely nobody was gaining anything.

The human archers, who had stood on the walls, had collapsed and only a few stood there now, dodging the arrows from the skilled elf archers and shooting skillfully.

Arrow by Arrow
Spell by Spell
Life by Life

Augustria had lost many but Evelyn didn't have any lead either. Magic was rare, mostly found in elves because of their extraordinary stamina. And they were tiring out, their breathes coming in huge rasps, their swords out now and tainted with blood. The archers weren't doing good either, now many out of arrows, they had joined the battle, their swords in front of them, ready to strike even though they were tired to the bone.

Things were worst at the side of Augustria; the soldiers were first priority was to protect the women and children who were cowering behind the walls but the soldiers never expected a full sophisticated army especially an army of elves. And as they fought, they had no time to turn back and check if their families were ok.

Rain still pattering cold
Despite the heat of the youth
this is not heaven
Yet worst than hell

And it was strange when the humans attacked the carts and burned them so the elves could not have any more equipment.

And it was strange when the elves magicians, thought that there were secret weapons behind the wall, sent out a massive spell and the lightning struck behind the wall and soon everything was blazing.

Blood soaked grounds
Cries of mothers
fighting fathers
and now we sing the war song.

20000 BC
Incident of the seas
Trajan Vs Anglo

Seas crashing wild
this is an unholy time
of unease in spirits

Trajan was always presented as peaceful as the water but seas were quite fierce too… explaining the nature of humans. One time they would be at peace and at the next time, they would want war.

Anglo was always presented as beautiful as the fire but fire was misunderstood as power and power is something that human's greed for and they eventually die in its voyage.

Water and fire
the makers of the world itself
totally opposite…

It was kind of unfair and the result seemed quite obvious that Trajan would lose. Traders versus a highly sophisticated army of Anglo, it seemed like the end. The huge army ships surrounding the small convoy of the trading ships… it looked like a loin killing a mouse.

But the people of Trajan wouldn't fight in thoughts of losing neither of taking hostages but they fight to win or to die.

they are together to form balance
but they are against
to form oblivion

And the small battle on the sea started, soldiers jumping on the ships and the traders knocking them out or throwing them into the sea, trusting the water to do the rest of the job. Although they were less skilled and equipped, they put an amazing fight against the army.

Then came the bombs and the fire arrows by both sides, hitting each other in a merciless battle. Many ships were sunken and in the end, only two ships were left.

And it started to rain
washing away the blood
the sorrow, the tears, the loss

The traders had protected their city from getting a surprise attack from the Anglo.

And the Anglo destroyed the other ship and vice versa in the last battle of bombs and fire.

Who are the losers now?
There is no victory in war
we are all the losers now
and now we sing the war song

20000 BC
Battle of Anglo
War of Hiwatari Voltaire
Trojan and Augustria VS Anglo

Today it is cold and bare
Yesterday it was the same
we have forgotten the light

Everything was unfair in wars especially the part that humans were too engulfed in their own selves to notice others. Instead of fighting in a proper battlefield, they fought in the same streets of the city where once children played and markets were laid. And instead of fighting soldiers, they burned house and killed families.

Anglo represented fire and yet they were being eaten by it, piece by piece, the city was being burnt. Soldiers still fought in the streets, trying to protect what was left. The walls were broken. Everyone was dying.

Even if it is the time of war
Different nations against another
but the children are always the same

Was it because of the cruelty of the emperor that the war had started and everyone was dying? Or was it the cruelty of life for it being like this.

And after only a few minutes, the whole city was on fire and trapped within, were countless numbers of children sleeping in their bed, countless numbers of mothers trying to blow off the fire and countless number of soldiers still fighting.

It was literally the end of them.

And everything was burning
the humanity disappearing
innocent's tears dripping
and now we sing the war song

20000 BC
Battle of Ryun Shan
Agustria VS Evelyn

And the fire had died and there were no movements around, everyone had died, bodies were piled on one another, arrows struck through bodies, the wall broken down and thousands of little scraps of clothes that were once tents, rolled here and there aimlessly. A few toys, with which the children once played, were scattered aimlessly here but mostly everything was so destroyed that it was difficult to identify.

But the rain didn't cease but it was faster than before and it clearly indicated that it was crying over the dead.

Tears of sorrow
never cease
as it comes from death

In the depths of the deadly silence and piles of corpses, a sheet of wood moved. The same wood which was once a part of the carts; it moved slightly, breaking the silence with live rasp breathes from underneath. With a huge grunt, the sheet of wood was slightly pushed enough to create space for the person to scramble out and face the ruins.

Tears running down the little boy's face, he looked around. His clothes were stained with dirt and blood and there was a huge cut on his shoulders. He looked around; his slightly long hair a mess, his pointed ears indicating that he was an elf. But still a child.

He ran around, his shoes making contact with the fire burnt ground, getting wet from the harsh rain. But he didn't care as tears ran down his golden eyes and he looked around in panic trying to see if somebody, friend or foe, was alive. Shards of glass, of broken wood, of blood, of bodies… he looked but didn't find anything. He stopped soon and cried.

And he stood under the rain
his tears wetting the ground
the already blood soaked ground

It looked like that he had somehow fallen unconscious as he lifted his head from behind a huge rock and looked around at the slaughter. He got up slowly and suddenly there was a sharp pain in his head. He rubbed his warm head and suddenly remembered that he had fallen and knocked himself out. He touched his forehead and felt the a huge cut and realized that his face was covered with dried up blood.

Ignoring the pain of his illness, bruises, burns and weakness, he started to jog, trying to look for a movement in the motionless land of dead. He felt tears of run down his face as he recognized some of the soldiers but he kept running, trying to find his father, his brother, his mother or just anybody who was alive. His vision blurred because of the tears as his bare feet made contact with the blood soaked warm earth, touching his skin, making his lose all hope.

He stopped soon, feeling tired and sick, his body flaming because of the earlier fever and he slowly looked up at the black sky, raining on top of him.

"Why do you cry God?" he asked, innocently.

Suddenly feeling aware of someone staring at him, he looked straight again and saw an elvish boy, not much older than him, staring at him in disbelief.

They both stared at each other in silence before he collapsed because of the fever, hitting the ground face-first, too tired to move or to think.

The other boy ran over to him and looked at him as he visions blurred into blackness.

And whatever happens
Children are always innocent
with those tears and smiles
and that is why
we now sing the war song.

20000 BC
Incident of the seas
Trajan Vs Anglo

And it felt like only yesterday
when I used to play in the fields
which is now blood soaked

His father had thrown him into the sea and asked the vast water to help him and lead him to safety. He had argued even though he knew the situation was horrible and his father had no other choice. But his father had thrown him into the water and it was a matter of time when he had lost consciousness.

And he did not know whether the sea helped him or not but when he next opened his eyes, his was staring at a rocky ceiling. He was too weak to get up but only turn his face a little to see where he was. He blinked in surprise when he looked at the warm fire

burning only a few feet away from him and a boy, not older than himself, sitting by it, looking lost.

He looked at the him from above the fire and the little Trajan boy suddenly noticed that his face was tear strained and his arms were burnt.

Seeing him, he realized what was going on, and tears started to flow from his eyes and there was utter silence in the cave.

Who are the losers now?
There is no victory in war
we are all the losers now
and now we sing the war song
