Hey guys! Sorry this is late, but I've been trying to catch up on my other stories. Thank you all for being so patient with me! Enjoy!
The next morning, Akihito woke up with Kou and Takato sprawled out across the floor on cushions from the couch Akihito himself was still on what was left of the couch. One look around and Akihito knew he had a lot of cleaning to do. The coffee table was strewn with junk food wrappers and empty soda cans. The game they had been playing was still up and Akihito honestly didn't remember finishing the game.
Groaning, the blonde stretched before standing up and grabbing a trash bag from the kitchen. He couldn't help but snicker at thought of how Kou is going to feel when he woke up. Sugar was like alcohol to him. He couldn't handle too much before falling into a sugar coma. When he woke up he was going to have a killer headache.
All the sodas had been dumped and bagged when Akihito heard one of his friends stir. Looking over, he saw Takato sit up with some serious bedhead.
"Man, what time is it?" Takato grumbled as he rubbed his face.
"Almost noon. You didn't have work did you?"
"I came over didn't I? Naw, I don't have work 'til tomorrow, and my wife is at her moms."
"Oh, you didn't want to go see the in-laws?" Akihito snickered.
"Ha-ha, laugh it up. My mother-in-law is fine with me, but my father-in-law hates me. I don't care what my wife says."
"Oh, come on Tak. Do you really think the man can hate the boy who married his daughter? I mean she's your whole world. You would sooner jump off a cliff than allow her to get hurt."
"I know, she's my everything. But the man glares at me every time we see each other. The guy doesn't trust me."
"Sounds to me that it's his daughter he doesn't trust." Takato snapped his head in Akihito's direction.
"HUH? What do you mean by that? Of course he trusts her."
"Really? Well then shouldn't he trust her to pick a good husband that will take care of her? As a father he needs to protect her, I get that. But he also needs to teach her to protect herself and that includes her heart. If he didn't do that, then he's slaking. You should say something the next time you see him."
"And risk dying?!"
"Eh, the choice is yours to say something. But I know one thing you don't have a choice in." Takato looked at Akihito skeptically.
"And what's that?" Akihito tossed him a warm, wet rag.
"Get off your ass and help me clean up. I didn't make this mess myself." Takato rolled his eyes and grumbled, but got up and started to clean.
"What about Kou? Shouldn't he be helping us?"
"Be my guest to wake him up if you can. Though I highly doubt you'll be able to."
"Point taken." Takato went back to wiping off the surfaces that Akihito had just cleared and the then took the trash out for him.
Akihito had been right about that sugar headache that Kou got. After the living room had been put back in order, Kou woke up and buried himself in the blankets on the couch until the meds Akihito gave him kicked in. After that he called take out for lunch and paid for it since he didn't help with the clean up.
Now the three of them were sitting in the living room eating ramen and watching old reruns. It was around two that Akihito's cell starting going off. Wiping his hands off on a paper towel, Akihito stood and grabbed his phone.
"Yellow?"
"Aki, it's Yama. Hey I got something big coming in and I want you to come down and check this out. When can you get here?" Akihito sat for a moment stunned.
"You've got something already? That was quick, but I got some buddies over and I didn't really plan on going anywhere today."
"Akihito, I need you down here within the next hour. I'm not joking."
"That serious, huh? Alright, I'll be down there in 30 minutes."
"Alright, I'll meet you at the LAB." Akihito hung up and walked over to his friends.
"Hey, guys. Sorry, but Yama-san just called and said that he's got something for me. I got to head out."
"Yeah, sure thing Aki-chan."
"Kou, you really need to stop calling me that."
"Why? It's funny."
"It's irritating. Anyway, you two need to scram. I'll call you guys later, Kay?"
"Yeah, we got it Aki. We'll talk later." Takato and Kou grabbed their things and said bye before walking out the door. Akihito got dressed into better clothes and picked up his keys before going out the door. Just as Asami had said the day before, his Vespa was sitting in it's usual spot in the parking garage under his building.
Akihito scowled as he got on and was soon out of the building. The streets were traffic free with everyone in work and the lunch rush over. For a while, Akihito just enjoyed himself with the ride. The feel of his Vespa under him. The wind whipping across his skin. Yup, this was bliss of another kind.
Unfortunately that stopped with a red light. Akihito waited behind two cars and just sat and thought. The call he had received from Yama was a bit strange. He almost never got something else that fast and to be meeting at the LAB made him have sudden concerns. The last time Yama had sounded like that was when he was still a teenager and he was constantly getting into trouble.
One day Akihito had gotten into trouble of a different kind. Unknowingly he had been involved with a drug trafficking ring and when he was busted, he apparently knew more that he thought he did. His information brought down one of the scariest men in Japan and ever since then, Akihito had found his calling.
That was how he discovered criminal photography and his sense of justice. His juvenile record would've made it difficult to be a cop, but there were so many rules. Akihito had to keep his rebellious nature somehow. After everything was said and done, that was also when Yamazaki took Akihito under his wing. He taught Akihito everything he could and used his camera for the perfect shots.
His parents had been proud of him too. He was doing something crazy and staying out of trouble. What more could parents ask for? It wasn't long though, before the accident that took his parents from him when he was 17. Yama had him move in and he's been on his own since he was 20. Yamazaki to him was like the long distance uncle that you sorta looked up to.
The light turned green and Akihito stepped on the gas. He was so focused on the road and trying to guess what Yama had found that he didn't notice the car that ran the red light to his left. It all happened too fast. The next thing Akihito knew, he was on his back on the pavement, dazed. He must've hit his head again.
He wasn't in any pain, so he couldn't have been hit that hard, but he didn't really understand what was happening. Suddenly he was grabbed from both arms and he was being dragged. Akihito caught a glimpse of a black car to his right as he was being brought to the back. The trunk was opened as the men dragging him reached it and threw him in.
It went black around him, but Akihito didn't know which happened first: The trunk closing or him losing consciousness.
Dun Dun DUUUUUNNNNN... Anyway, I hope you guys look forward to the next update and please review. They really do help me. Until next time! Asami in the LAB!? And what is the LAB? Wait, who is the Evil Dude? EVEN I DON'T KNOW YET! ... No seriously I have no idea who this guy is... meh I'll figure it out LOL.
