From The Ground Up

This life will go by in the blink of a eye but I wouldn't want to spend it without you by my side. Sarah x Connor and all that comes in between.

The Story Of Tonight

"Guys, really I have to study." Sarah groaned as two of the boys sat her down on the couch. Connor came back with microphones and a speaker in hand.

"Mom, really we've been working really hard on this okay?" Finn smiled. "Please?" The ten year old begged. "5 minutes tops."

She sighed. Out of all her children, the first two seemed to have a keen love for all things theatrical, which came as a hidden talent of Connor's she had discovered quite early into their relationship as he'd managed to tickets to Hamilton.

"Babe, do you really want to disappoint them?" Connor gave her a glance. She couldn't fight those blue eyes for the life of her, sitting back on the couch she watched as the kiddos began their elaborate plan to present her with their idea for the talent show at school, enlisting the help of their ever willing father and little sister.

"Lady and little lady." Ollie began. "Welcome to our opening number."

Jamie clapped her hands excitedly. It was clear she already knew the basic scheme of this as her brothers had clearly been practicing on her. "The Rhodes brothers present a rendition of the Broadway classic, the Story of Tonight, written by the increible mind that is Mr. Lin Manuel Miranda." Luke said in a deep voice.

Sarah's eyes caught Connor's for a minute as she smiled expectantly. winked at her.

A familiar tune began to play in the background as Luke began:

Luke:
I may not live to see our glory!

[Ollie, Finn and Connor :]
I may not live to see our glory!

[Luke]
But I will gladly join the fight!

[Ollie, Finn and Connor :]
But I will gladly join the fight!

[Luke:]
And when our children tell our story…

[Ollie, Finn and Connor :]

And when our children tell our story…

[Luke]
They'll tell the story of tonight

[Finn :]
Let's have another round tonight

[Ollie:]
Let's have another round tonight

[Luke:]
Let's have another round tonight

[Connor :]
Raise a glass to freedom
Something they can never take away
No matter what they tell you
Raise a glass to the four of us

[Connor and Finn:]
Tomorrow there'll be more of us

[Ollie, Finn and Connor :]

Telling the story of tonight

[Luke]
They'll tell the story of tonight

[ALL :]
Raise a glass to freedom
Something they can never take away

[Luke:]
No matter what they tell you

[Finn/Ollie :]
Let's have another round tonight

[Connor:]
Raise a glass to the four of us

[ALL :]
Tomorrow there'll be more of us

[Connor and Luke:]
Telling the story of tonight

[Ollie and Finn:]
Let's have another round tonight

[ALL ]
They'll tell the story of tonight (Raise a glass to freedom)
They'll tell the story of tonight (Raise a glass to freedom)
They'll tell the story of tonight (They'll tell the story of)
[ALL:] Tonight

Sarah was in awe. She'd be sending them to theatre camp in the summer. "So?" Finn gasped.

"Too much?" Ollie inquired.

"I sounded off key. I knew it!" Finn said hiding his face in his hands.

Sarah smiled. "I honestly don't know what to say. How long have you been..."

"A few weeks, dad's been giving us pointers." Luke said. "He's the Hamilton expert."

"Of course." Sarah smiled. "Jaimie, what did you think baby?"

Jamie sat back, deep in thought.

"Uff.. boys we might be in trouble, future critic Jamie Rhodes is taking notes." Connor put in.

"Jamie? We need feedback here." Luke said in exasperation. She raised her arm to shush him.

"One thing..." The four year old said in a wide smile. "Angelica's song is better, you should have done that one."

Luke sighed as everyone broke into laughter

This was a nod to Colin being the Broadway star that he is and the magic that is Hamilton, I own nothing, pelase review!
