Chapter 3
~Time Skip 1year later~
Yuuki's P.O.V
It has been a year since the night of the welcoming gathering ball in the Aido family mansion, which my father had requested from the head of the Aido family. My father announced the opening of Cross Academy for our kind to co-exist. Also announcing my existence to the vampire world, the daughter of Jurri and Haruka Kuran. Thinking about that night still gives me shivers down my spine, because having to be the center of attention, where all eyes are on me. I'm just glad that it's over with everyone following my every move and the feeling of being a shiny new treasure.
Being able to go out and be in a school with my kind and the humans will be a step forward to knowing a life outside. Just the thought of how my life may turn out, wondering if I will make friends or not...As I walk through the hallways of the school building looking around my surroundings, I could see it as a peaceful place with the aura of the environment it gives off, I could sense the safe my mother and father had told me about. In the distance, I could see humans walking around with how they act and the expression they hold, but the thought of them not knowing who or should I say what we are.
I am heading for the headmaster's office to see him before I head to the dorm room, I will be staying in. Soon I arrived standing in front of the headmaster's office. I knocked on the door before entering the room. As I scanned the room my gaze fell upon Kaien standing at the window seal looking at the scenery.
"Chairman..?" I called out to him waiting for a response.
"Ah! Yuuki~ You finally came. I'm so happy you came to see me before you get settled in" Kaien spoke as his expression changed from calm and collected too hyper and joyful. Kaien ran towards me with his arms spread out wide running towards me as if he was about to tackle me.
My heart skipped a beat from the sudden movement, of course, I quickly jumped out of the way like usual since I don't know much about him, but my parents trust him, so should I.
I had covered my eyes when I moved out of the way then slowly removed my hands away from my face, opening my eyes up when I heard a big thud noise as if someone fell to the ground. I noticed the chairman was no longer there. I blinked a couple of times when I thought to myself where he is? I then hear a faint voice as if someone was crying, I slowly lowered my head to see the chairman on the ground on his knees weeping.
"Uhm...Uncle Kaien?"
"Waah! Why are you being so mean to your Uncle!" He looked up at me as his tears overflow in his eyes.
Kaien then started walking on his knees toward me, at first, I wanted to get away but this time I didn't and found myself being hugged around the waist.
Then suddenly someone entered the office probably to see what was happening. I looked up to see a silver-haired boy who seems to be glaring at the chairman, assuming it was because of the way the chairman is acting.
"What the hell are you doing? You look pathetic in front of the monster..." The boy growled at the chairman.
"Now you're being so cruel to me too! In front of Yuuki-chan!" cried the chairman.
"I'm always like this..." The boy mumbled.
"So cruel" The Chairman cried creating a mini river with his tears. Adjusting his glasses and his expression is serious.
Kaien starts walking towards his desk.
"Well, then I guess we should get started" The Chairman stated as he now took his seat behind the desk.
"Why is that here...?" The boy asked as he pointed at me.
"Yuuki! Will be attending the night class" Chairman corrected him.
"Will she be endangering the other students?" he asked
"No Zero, the other students will not be in any danger" the Chairman informed Zero.
Zero slammed his fist on the desk causing it to splinter, growling in a menacing tone.
"You're going to LET those monsters in!?" He shouted. "Are you insane!?...No don't answer that, when I know you are opening a perfect buffet for those leeches" Zero glared down at the chairman.
I felt like I wanted to step in and argue with him but remembering his past, his response is understandable.
"Vampire Hunter" I stepped in having to murmur in a low voice that sounded cold, making the room temperature drop. "Don't accuse my kind when we have more control over ourselves than you have of yours..."
Zero reaches for his gun but before he could remove it from his holster I stood in front of him, my hand over his stopping him from drawing out his weapon.
"Get your hand off of me monster..." Zero snarled at me.
"Zero stop this...at once" The Chairman cut between us.
Slowly I removed my hand from his and soon Zero withdrew his hand from his gun.
"You two should be nicer to each other, you are practically cousins," the Chairman said.
"I don't recall joining your family, to begin with" Zero said to him.
"Chairmen be more serious" I said to him. The Chairmen then begins to cry.
"Zero, why don't you ever call me father? Yuuki, why don't you ever call me Uncle anymore!?" Zero turns away heading for the door and throwing his bag over his shoulder.
"Drown in your tears for all I care..." Zero storms out of the room. When he had stormed out of the room I followed behind at a more leisurely pace. As I turned to the corner on my way out. Zero and his twin Ichiru were talking. Zero was complaining about the Chairman.
"Yuuki how are you?" Ichiru asked when he saw me, Zero stiffened when he heard my name, then turned to glare at me.
"I'm doing well Ichiru, how have you been?" I asked ignoring Zero and his wishes for my death.
"I have been great, apart from the Chairman's bad cooking and poor taste in teasing Zero" Ichiru said coming closer and hugging me.
"Ichiru! Get away from that thing!" Zero shouted grabbing Ichiru's shoulder and glaring harder at me.
"Nope! I'm hugging my cousin" Ichiru said holding me tighter and sticking his tongue out at his big brother, I brought my arms up and hugged Ichiru back.
"Yeah Zero, he is just hugging me don't be so mean to your cousin" I say to Zero throwing a little offended look at him. Zero just snorts and continues to try and split us apart. Ichiru won as his brother pulls him, it was hard not to laugh at the sight we made, a sudden flash made us all turn to see the Chairman with a stupid love-struck smile on his face, with a camera in his hand saying some silly thing as usual. Zero stormed up to him trying to grab the pictures and camera. The Chairman crying and complaining like a child shouting.
"No you can't take it, it's my camera!" Soon I got tired of the noise, so I used my power to bring the camera and pictures to me, they did not even realize the Chairman no longer had the camera and pictures. With such temptation who could resist so, I snapped a picture of Zero and the Chairman's little fight. Ichiru was leaning on the wall laughing at their stunned faces as I was fanning myself with the polaroid picture waiting for it to develop so I could see.
"Well as usual it was nice seeing you all I will be taking my leave now" I said as I rushed to the front door before Zero got over his shock and ran after me as I put the polaroids into my pockets.
Suddenly the door was blocked by Ichiru to my surprise, I turn to find another exit only to be blocked by Zero.
"And where do you think you're going with those?" Zero queried as he stalked forward causing me to step closer to Ichiru.
"Oh Ichiru how could you betray me at such a time?" I asked keeping Zero in my sights as clearly the bigger threat.
"Sorry Yuuki-chan, I can't allow you to get away with those my brother would never forgive me" Ichiru responded with a pout, though it was obvious he was fighting not to smile.
"Nowhere to run now Pureblood" Zero said smirking thinking his victory was a sure thing.
"Your right" I said as I face Ichiru completely having my back exposed to Zero, Ichiru starts to relax further not expecting me to fight back. He doesn't expect my sudden movement of throwing the camera up into the air, he immediately reacts stretching forward to save it, I feel Zero start to move behind me. I make my escape jumping over Ichiru's back.
I made it to the door behind Ichiru only to hear a loud crash causing me to turn back my attention to see both Ichiru and Zero had just crashed into each other and fallen to the ground.
"Better luck next time" I said with a smirk seeing both of them trying to recover as Zero looked up towards me before making sure Ichiru was okay. Ichiru groaned a bit and responded with a nod of his head only to notice Zero looked up towards me with the ready instinct to chase.
I made my move running out of the school building with Zero chasing behind me into the courtyard on the school grounds, I jump up to the top of the buildings and make a dash across the roofs to the new Nights Dorms. When the Night Dorms come into sight, I look behind only to notice Zero wasn't giving chase, I checked my pockets to see I still have the pictures. So why did Zero stop his pursuit?
Still questioning why Zero stopped his pursuit to reclaim these pictures while I continue my way towards the Night Dorms with a wary eye on my surroundings in case Zero was waiting to get a drop on me. As I walk into the mansion that acted as the dorms for the future night class as the moon dorms were being built.
"Yuuki-sama" Aido called and bowed "How was the meeting with the Chairman?"
"It went well everything is on schedule with the night class and the Moon Dorm buildings" I told him as I reached into my skirt pocket to pull out a packet of pocky, as I was about to eat it Shiki lean over my shoulder and grabbed it with his teeth.
"SHIKI!, you shouldn't take Yuuki-sama's things" Aido exclaimed as Rima walked up to Shiki's side.
"Thanks cousin" Shiki said as he finished the chocolate-covered treat, I gently slap the top of his head.
"You should ask first Shiki" Rima said as she sat down on the lounge, Shiki follows Rima sitting next to her, it's sweet how they're a cute couple but they don't state it so people just assume they are friends who have feelings for each other but can't tell the other and no one seems bold enough to just ask outright even though they don't even bother hiding their relationship. It's amusing how some people try so hard to get them to admit it or try catching them kissing, even now their expressions barely change yet they are so beautiful to watch.
Next Night
I sit in the armchair, waiting for the new students arriving tonight, I will need to explain the rules to them as well as make sure they sign a document stating their agreement of understanding and agreeing to follow and the consequences of breaking such rules. The nobles slowly start to arrive and enter the main hall standing and talking to their friends in hushed tones. Soon silence fell as I stood, all nobles bowed to me and Kaname as he entered. He makes his way through the crowd. I gestured to the chair across from me as I took my seat again, Ichijou and Kain standing on either side of Kaname. Shiki and Aido stood on either side of me Ruka stood behind Kain and Rima stood behind Shiki, soon all the nobles gathered as Aido went over all the school regulations and what was going to be expected of them. As he was halfway through a girl came into the hall as if she was not late. I signaled Aido to continue and ignore her, we will have to go over the rules again with her.
Aido continued as if he had not been interrupted, the noble who had just walked in smiled as her eyes landed on my cousin Kaname, who had not even glanced at her even when she entered. Soon I found myself having a staring competition with my cousin and could feel someone looking at me. I saw from the corner of my eye that it was the noble girl who was late, she was staring as if she'd expected me to do something for her and was giving her more insults every moment, I paid her no mind.
Soon Kaname also realized the girls staring and lifted an eyebrow in question at me, I just merely relaxed further in my chair giving a subtle shrug, as the staring contest continued, I soon crossed my eyes for a second but when Kaname saw it, his lips twitched from trying to keep a straight face and he blinked showing his surrender causing my lips to twitch in victory. Aido was informing everyone what was expected of them, then informed them to line up so they may get the number of the room they are staying in and what floor it would be on. Slowly the nobles were leaving to head to their rooms, carrying their luggage then the girl from before was standing in front of me expecting something, I just sat there staring straight back at her.
"Get out of my seat and take my stuff to my room" the girl told me, she clearly had no idea who I am.
"How dare you talk to Yuuki-sama..." Aido was cut off by the girl.
"How dare I? How dare she show such disrespect for someone clearly above her, she should be glad all I told her to do was take my bags to my room the useless girl..." the girl really had a death wish.
"Know your place girl..." Ruka told the girl glaring at her.
"I know my place, I'm Kurai my father is the second in command of the council, so I know my place the question is do you?" this girl is insufferable, Kaname stands and slaps her across her cheek with such brute force. She falls to the ground.
"It is you that does not know your place girl, it is you that is below Yuuki" Kaname says as he walks to my side looking at me meaningfully, I sigh as I release my full aura, the pressure of my aura being released caused the vases to break and the room falls silent. All bow to show their respect and knowledge that as a pureblood I had the right to kill them all and no one could question it. Kurai gasped and bowed through she did glare having her head raised as she bowed.
"Apologize to the pureblood princess Yuuki Kuran" Kaname commanded even though he hated the rules of our society that make our friends bow to us and address us with the title 'Sama', he did not like foolish people disrespecting us.
"I'm sorry Yuuki-sama, I did not know" she said even though she glared at me.
"Even if you did not know that is no way to treat your fellow peer, you bring disgrace to your name if that is how you treat people on a daily basis" I told her debating on whether to slap that glare off her face or not, instead Kaname slapped her and told her she should never glare at a pureblood it is dishonorable. Kurai then went to her room, as all the other nobles left for their rooms, I showed Kaname to his.
"Your room is next to mine, and I need to remind you of the paperwork for the night class needs to bare both of our signatures to be passed and we will both be doing the paperwork Kaname, so we will be sharing an office of sorts which is between our rooms and is joint to both of our bedrooms. We can't rest yet; can you send someone to fetch Kurai because we need to make her sit and listen to what Aido was saying before when she came in halfway through for being late" I told Kaname as he put his bags on the floor at the foot of his bed then followed me to the office room that joined our rooms.
Kaname sent someone to fetch the disgraced noble as we entered the office, Aido came to the office and entered as he is ready to repeat everything for the arrogant girl. When Aido had called out for the girl to enter, Kurai entered the room with a smile as if expecting Kaname to be all alone with her, what a stupid girl indeed. The girl's face quickly fell when she saw me sitting in the chair behind the desk as Kaname enjoyed the view outside the window as he stretched his legs. Kurai sat in the chair in front of me and Ado prepared to read everything again with her.
"You were late, extremely so that everything needs to be read out to you to make sure you don't miss anything and break school policy because of your ignorance" I told her.
Kurai glared at me as if I was wasting her time when she was actually wasting mine and everyone else's in this room. Soon it was over, and she asked Kaname if he would walk her back to her room. Kaname told her no point blank it was almost funny how quickly that flirtatious smile was whipped from her face.
"Kaname you should be more careful with lady's heart" I told him with a smile curling my lips as I turn my chair to face him still standing at the window reading over some papers I handed him.
"I would if she were a lady and not a spoilt little girl after my name and blood. You should feel no pity for the girl as she is after your name as well" he told me only glancing up at me a couple of times, showing he felt no remorse in his treatment towards the girl.
"True cousin we share the same name, but sadly the right of next family head falls to me as I have the purer Kuran blood, I would rather lead the head of family responsibilities to you so I could still enjoy my time in the sun" I told him with a smile and laugh at his shocked face.
"Hmmm Yuuki, you are the future head of the family whether you like it or not, you need to take responsibility and start acting like a proper heir" Kaname said looking straight into my eyes.
"In due time I will but so many men wish to be my suitor just to hold the Kuran family's power" I said with a frown, getting up and walking to the window seeing my reflection next to Kaname's staring right back at us.
