20th March

"Are the boys nearly ready?" Laura asked Bill from where she was sitting in the living room helping Katie roll from her stomach to her back.

"When I checked on them, they were packing the last of the toys they wanted to take" Bill replied sitting down next to Laura and Katie.

"Okay good, Katie's things are packed and waiting by the door as well" Laura said as she hid a stuffed bear behind her back, and then pulled it out to the giggles and excitement of Katie.

"Are you looking forward to tonight?" Bill asked wrapping an arm around her shoulders. Tonight they were both having their respective bachelor and bachelorette parties, and Evelyn and Joseph had volunteered to watch the kids until tomorrow afternoon, so that Bill and Laura didn't have to worry about being completely responsible for the night. Although they were both slightly worried about what their respective best friends had planned.

"I am, it will be nice to spend some time with the girls and just be carefree, but I still think I'll be worrying about the kids all night" Laura replied laughing.

"Yeah me too, but I am looking forward to having the house all to ourselves tonight" Bill said with a wink.

"That will be a special treat" Laura replied, before turning her head at the sound of a car pulling into their driving way and adding "I think your parents are here, can you go and help the boys bring down their bags please".

"Sure" Bill said kissing her on the cheek and heading up the stairs.

"Hi Evelyn, they should be ready to go in just a minute, Bill's just helping the boys with their things" Laura said as she opened the front door.

"That's fine" Evelyn replied with a reassuring simile, before lifting Katie in to her arms and cooing "look at you with your two front teeth".

"We've been having to learn about not biting Mommy when it's feeding time, haven't we" Laura said chuckling.

"Bill was the same when he was a baby, but they soon learn quickly that Mummy isn't happy when they bite" Evelyn replied bouncing Katie, just as Lee and Zak came running down the stairs and into their grandfather's arms.

"Marcy and Ellen are here, when's Saul coming to pick you up?" Laura asked stepping into her off white stiletto pumps.

"He should be here in a few minutes" Bill replied, before wrapping his arms around her waist.

"You look amazing" Bill said, admiring the fitted v neck off white lace overlay dress she was wearing that ended just below her knees.

"Thank you honey, I've finally lost most of the baby weight, only three stubborn pounds that don't seem to want to shift" Laura replied wrapping her arms around his neck.

"You always looked beautiful, especially when you were carrying our little girl" Bill said cupping her cheek in his hand.

"I love you" Laura whispered kissing him softly.

"I love you too, I'll see you later tonight" Bill replied, kissing her soundly just as the pair heard a car horn honk outside.

"Here you go" Marcy said handing Laura a glass of champagne, "you don't have to worry about any kids until tomorrow afternoon, so you're going to let loose a little".

Laura looked at her friend dubiously, but took the drink anyway. "So what are we going to do tonight?" Laura asked curiously.

"You'll just have to wait and see miss, we're in charge of tonight's activities" Ellen replied, "but I will let you know that we have another stop tonight at the place of a friend of Marcy's".

"Come on let's go into the kitchen where Cheryl, Abigail and Elosha are cooking" Marcy said steering Laura into the nearby room, before Laura had time to think about where that place may be.

"It smells amazing girls" Laura commented walking over to each of her friends, and giving them a tight squeeze.

"Well we had to make something special for tonight, so we've got chargrilled zucchini, marinated feta and sundried tomato bruschetta for an entrée, chicken and spinach tortellini bake for a main and chocolate mousse for dessert" Elosha replied smiling.

"Plus plenty of wine" Cheryl added grinning.

"That sounds fantastic, thank you" Laura said sincerely.

"You're welcome, nothing has been spared for the celebration of our friend's upcoming nuptials. We've all got you a few little gifts as well, but you'll have to wait until after dessert for those" Abigail replied, as she poured everyone another glass of champagne.

"I do have a little gift for each of you" Laura said walking over to her handbag and taking out four white gift bags. Each of the women gasped in surprise at the sight of a peach coloured silk dressing gown, each embroidered with bridesmaid or in Marcy's case Maid of honour, and the girl's names.

"Laura this is beautiful, thank you" Ellen said holding up the gown, before embracing Laura.

"Now you've gone and gotten us all emotional" Marcy commented squeezing her best friend tightly.

"Come on, let's go have a crazy night" Cheryl said wiping a small tear away and grinning.

"I have arrived with our esteemed guest" Saul said walking into his living room, where David and Sherman were setting up a triad table.

"How many bottles of ambrosia did you buy?" Bill asked concerned at the sight of a bench full of tumblers, ice and five bottles of ambrosia.

"This is a special occasion, it's not very often that my best friend gets married to the love of his life" Saul replied with a mischievous grin.

"Here you go, I made it especially for you" Larry said handing Bill a tall glass.

"Gods that's strong, I feel like I could breathe fire" Bill replied after taking a sip.

"Good that's what I was going for" Larry replied grinning, "oh and the steaks are done Saul so I put them on the bench next to the cook top.

"Great let the festivities begin" Saul said grabbing himself a drink and heading over to the triad table.

"I'll fold" Bill said placing his cards back down on the table.

"I've got three up, can anyone beat me?" David asked

"Prince high red, read it and weep boys" Saul replied grinning and reaching his arms out to collect his winnings.

"Dammit Saul, are you rigging the game or something, that's the fourth round you've won out of the last eight" Larry said jokingly.

"Sorry boys, it seems that I'm just too good for you, it's all the practice I've had during my time with the fleet" Saul replied with a mischievous grin.

"Then why do you seem to be losing as badly us Bill?" Sherman asked teasingly.

"It's because he's out of practice and his mind is most likely on Laura" Saul replied rolling his eyes.

"Do you know what the girls are up to?" Larry asked grinning at Saul.

"I don't know, Laura just…."

"Ah you said her name, drink up buddy" David said while laughing at Bill, earlier in the night Saul declared that mentioning your significant other by name would require you to down the rest of your drink. And Saul knowing Bill so well, knew he wouldn't be able to last too long, but at least he lasted an hour.

"Dammit, that burns, I don't remember agreeing to this rule" Bill said grimacing as he placed the now empty tumbler on the table.

"That's because you never had a choice in the matter, I'm the best man and I'm in charge of tonight's activities" Saul replied, refilling his glass.

"I should've chosen someone else as my best man" Bill said in jest.

"We both know, I was always going to be your best man" Saul replied as he dealt the next hand.

"You're right, who else would I chose to make me look better" Bill said grinning as he picked up his hand.

"Oh my gods" Laura said looking around at Marcy's friends place, "you didn't tell me we were going to a night club, it's been years since I've been to one".

"I know, and this is you're last night of freedom without being a wife or having the kids around, so you're going to have one hell of a night" Ellen replied.

"Oh dear" Laura said with wide eyes.

"Don't worry, George sectioned off a private area for us, so we can just focus on ourselves, dance and let loose a little" Marcy replied leading Laura towards the back of the night club.

"Here you go ladies, compliments of the owner, he mixed this drink up especially for you" a waiter said placing a tray of peach coloured drinks on the small table in front of them.

"Thank you" Ellen replied picking up a drink and handing it to Laura.

"Cheers to you and Bill" Marcy said raising her glass in the air.

"Cheers" Laura replied clinking her glass with the other girls, before taking a large sip "yum, what's in this?"

"It's great isn't it! It's made up of champagne, cranberry juice, Irish whiskey and brandy, I've told George to keep the drinks following tonight" Marcy said grinning.

"Well we better not waste it then" Laura replied taking another sip.

"How long have you been home?" Laura asked as she walked into the living room to find Bill watching an old cartoon.

"Not long, only about five minutes, how was your night?"

"It was good, I missed you though" Laura replied wrapping her arms around his waist.

"I missed you too, I can't believe that this time in three weeks I'll get to call you my wife" Bill said grinning from ear to ear and placing his arms behind her neck.

"I know Mrs Laura Adama" Laura replied kissing him softly.

"It does sound pretty amazing doesn't it" Bill said squeezing her tightly.

"Do you know what else is pretty amazing" Laura replied, quirking her eyebrow and taking his hand in hers as she led him upstairs.
