On with the story!

"It's getting late Shu I should go," Arabella explained as she rose to her feet and dusted off her uniform issued skirt.

Following her lead, the young man also stood up in a low tone he whispered, "About you being a bitch, I'm sorry. What I said was way out of line. I'm just in a shitty mood."

"Why is that?"

"My brother, he destroyed something precious to me intentionally because I didn't do what he wanted as soon as he demanded it."

Choosing her words pensively Arabella inquired further, "Well what exactly is the precious item?"

The young duo made their way down the stairs back to where the indoor pool was before Shu had finally responded.

"It was an MP3 player that my brother had given me before he starting hating my guts when our mother had still been alive. It felt like the last bit of any happiness I have experienced since my mother's passing; thus, the death of any normalcy I could experience in a familial setting. My brother—more accurately my half brother, Ayato, the one who broke my iPod knew how much I cared about it and intentionally destroyed it knowing how much it means to me solely because he didn't get his way and was throwing a temper tantrum."

"How immature, I'm sorry to hear that. Did he apologize at least?"

Shu scoffed, a humorless chuckle slipping past his full pink parted lips, "An apology entails acknowledging that you've done something wrong and that alone is impossible for that egotistical redheaded idiot."

Despite my best efforts to try and reconnect with I'm not some puppet that he can order around especially when I'm doing him the favor of teaching him balance and humanity yet he thinks so highly of himself it makes me want to kick his frickin' ass and show him who's boss!

Calm.

Stay calm Shu…

When the hell do I ever even get riled up? Sure, I'm pissed, but I've usually been able to internally manage all of my emotions.

Simultaneously an image of Ayato's smug face flitted into his memory and Shu could feel his blood boiling anew as his fangs involuntarily fought to further reveal themselves.

"Earth to Shu are you alright?"

Shrouding the view of his mouth his pale palm the orange haired teen muttered a quiet affirmation as he sped ahead of his female companion.

"Let's get out of here Arabella," He used his free hand to clutch hers and couldn't ignore how right it felt to be warmed up by her touch.

"Shu are you alright? You feel as cold as a corpse!" Arabella exclaimed.

That single line was enough to make Shu guffaw unintentionally revealing his lethal fangs.

"What is it? What's so funny?" The girl huffed with an embarrassed heating up of her face.

"Nothing, just that I'm already dead on the inside so it's funny that you mentioned something as lifeless as a corpse."

Pretending to disapprovingly shake her head the wavy haired female giggled, "Low key Shu you're sort of emo, you know?"

The boy just shrugged, as they headed out of the school towards the main gates Shu's watchful eyes caught sight of a shivering Yui.

I don't really feel like acting concerned but whatever…

"Yui!"

Panicked the young girl swiveled around, "Shu-san, Arabella-chan!"

"Hey Yui," Arabella greeted.

"What the hell are you still doing here after hours?"

Flinching at the tall teen's tone she murmured, "Well the others went to go check on Ayato at the hospital after school let out and I was left behind. When I tried calling Laito he said I'd be better off not seeing Ayato in such a sorry state especially if he's thirsty upon waking up so I've been trying to think about how I'd even been able to come back home."

Shu remained stony as he slipped his hand in his pocket finger through for feel of sleek slim metal once he retrieved his phone he dispassionately called for a limo to pick them up since he couldn't teleport with Arabella around and couldn't use his speed to whisk Yui away with the seafoam haired student still around either.

"Do you need a ride back home too Arabella?"

"Thanks for the offer but I'm fine. I was thinking about maybe going for another swim or something."

Yui paled, "At this time of night?"

"What can I say," she smirked mirthfully, "I like to live on the wild side, don't you?"

Intrigued the orange-blonde haired vampire couldn't help but lightly grin a such a risky response.

While engaging in pleasant small talk which was mostly the girls chatting while Shu occasionally put in his two sense a Sakamaki issued limo pulled into the driveway stopping by the school's marble fountain in the center of the serene garden entrance.

"Bye Yui, bye Shu. Hope I see you around you, better not try to avoid me Shu!" Arabella hollered as the two strode off parting ways.

Smirking Shu joked, "We'll see, as long as you don't talk my ear off."

Upon entering, once the two were comfortably seated Shu felt his annoyance rise.

With other vampires like the Mukami's out there and countless other shady creatures how the hell was leaving Yui alone by herself a good decision in the slightest? Those brothers of mine must be brain dead.

Save Shu's silent fuming nothing of interest transpired during the car ride back.

The immortal male eventually cleared his throat, "Yui from now on your riding to school with me in my car.

Perplexed the girl spoke, "I didn't know you knew how to drive Shu-san!"

With a shrug of his shoulders he decided to acknowledge the blonde's comment, "Yeah, I know how to drive, problem is Reiji claims that as the sons of Karl Heinz we must all leave and enter school at the same time to maintain the air of noble upbringing and status."

"That's rather pretentious of him," Yui mused more to herself than to her companion but considering that Shu's a vampire of course he heard her and snorted at the comment.

"You're pretty comical Yui you should be a bit snarkier more often or at least when you're with me you can be."

A pretty little blush dusted Yui's fairly pale skin her eyes softened, "Thank you Shu-san."

"Whatever." He deflected her feelings of gratitude but knew she was rather endearing.

Shu unlocked the door ushering her out, "After you."

Once the two made it back into the manner they caught Subaru panting, his eyes grew wide upon their return, "The actual fuck! Shu where have you been what are you even up to! All those blood donations were eradicated by your unquenchable thirst. I wasn't sure if you were hurt or—"

Shaking with fury the albino's fists clenched and unclentched, "You know what, nevermind, I don't even know why I gave a fraction of a damn. You don't care so why should I?!"

Subaru's face was red, his voice had cracked during the rant, and Shu with his above average vision noticed that his baby brother's eyes were moist.

"Come here."

"Why the hell should I, you can't just give me orders you sloth!"

Ignoring the younger vampire's bluff, the orange-hair blonde never broke eye contact as he approached Subaru, "Shh," he whispered, "It's okay, I'm okay Su-su."

"Don't fucking call me that!" He shouted a blush a the tiniest of pouts as his older brother embraced him with a hug which the white-haired boy hesitantly reciprocated.

Yui was beyond dumb founded by the humane scene displayed in front of her, her heart beat rapidly.

Why can't Ayato be like that, I had no idea there was so much depth to Shu…

Naturally, he had managed to pacify the raging Subaru.

Shu is really amazing! The young blonde swooned at the sight before her.

Subaru shoved his older brother aside with minimal force, "I'm glad you're alright, but don't starve yourself again okay. You had me frickin' worried you're the only semi-sensible one around here. I'd kill myself if I was stuck with the rest of those idiots."

"No promises," Shu smirked before frowning, "Are the rest of them still with Ayato?"

"As of now, yes, but they'll probably be returning soon. You really did a number on Ayato even with our regenerative properties he's still in pretty critical condition."

"Serves the bastard right," The orange-blonde haired vampire seethed in a steady tone, "If I was really lacking self-control he'd be dead, maybe if I were thirsty enough I'd have sucked him dry." Shu voice grew more sinister as he thought of his fiery tempered brother Shu's fangs elongated his entire demeanor was threatening.

"God damn it! Now I'm thirsty again, I don't understand all I had done was think of Ayato, why is that enough to trigger this kind of reaction!" Shu screamed clutching his head as he dropped to his knees the temperature in the entire house dropping drastically.

Fear took the place of the admiration she had been feeling for the practically golden orange-blonde vampire.

"What's wrong with Shu?!" The blonde girl queried feeling intense worry.

Subaru crouched down to rub Shu's back in circles, "Think of your music, think about your favorite song."

Shu heard Subaru's voice growing distance as he struggled to recall the notes of Ode to Joy; somehow it had managed to carry his troubled spirit away as he felt waves of anxiety, blood-lust, insanity, and rage try to drown him within himself but the more he thought of the harmonies and melodies he felt those hateful parts of himself shutting down freezing over his unfiltered temper with usual nonchalance.

Gradually the temperature of the Sakamaki manor returned to normal; however, Shu's body felt like ice and he began shivering uncontrollably.

"So cold." He whimpered in a fetal position.

The younger vampire's usually harsh red eyes softened, "I'll get him upstairs."

In a flash they had teleported, the blonde on the other hand sped to Shu's room as fast as she possibly could.

After stepping in she closed Shu's door behind her.

"Subaru!" she cried, "What can I do to help?!"

"Honestly you could give him some blood."

The blonde haired vampire's ear perked up to the suggestion, eyes currently half orange and half pale blue fully opened with a stare made of daggers, "No, don't I refuse," He croaked despite the pulsing of his canines.

"Come on Shu don't be an idiot!"

"Please!" Yui begged sobbing, "Let me help you!"

"Promise to ride to school with us from now on Su-su," Shu's lids became heavy as his eyes shut again.

Subaru's ruby eyes watered, "Shu…"
