Author's Note: Hey guys, Healmaster0927 here with chapter two of Secret of the Kitsune. Also a few things I want to discuss. Firstly, I'm sorry that the last chapter was short. This chapter will be longer than the previous one. Secondly, thank you "prowerboy" for correcting my on the spelling of Kitsune. That's all, now on with the story.

Chapter 2: The story begins…

Tails jolted awake from his nightmare, sweating profoundly. He had occasional nightmares about that night seven years ago.

"About time you woke up," A voice spoke from beside him.

Tails looked to his right and saw his older brother, and idol Sonic the Hedgehog.

"You were sweating and rolling around like crazy, mumbling things I couldn't even understand. Are you sure your fine?"

"I'm fine Sonic," Tails replied.

"Are you sure Tails, you haven't quite been acting yourself after what happened a couple months ago."

"Sonic I assure you, I'm fine."

"Alright, if you say so. I'll be downstairs."

Sonic then bolted out of the room, and Tails climbed out of bed. Put his shoes on. Then he walked over to his dresser and grabbed his gloves, but before putting them on, a thought crossed his mind.

"The gloves," He thought. "The only thing that keeps everyone safe from me. So that may never happen again, so that I may never again harm those I love."

Tails then put his gloves on and left the room.

Downstairs, Sonic was preparing to head out with Tails, they had plans to go searching for a Chaos Emerald today in some ancient ruins when he heard Tails coming down the stairs.

"Tails," Sonic asked. "You ready?"

"Yep," Tails replied. "Assuming you've already packed."

"We it last night, remember?"

"Then in that case, yes I'm ready."

"Alright then, let go!"

Sonic then walked out the front door, with Tails following closely behind. Then they both darted off towards the ruins, which were about five minutes away at their speed. Unaware of a nearby camera bot watching them closely.

At Eggman's lair…

Eggman watched the monitor that had shown their entire conversation and thought for a moment. He was going to let them find the Emerald for him, then he was going to snatch it off them and use it for his own evil intent.

"Metal Sonic," Bellowed Eggman.

Metal Sonic then dashed into the room and saluted Eggman.

"Yes sir," the machine asked.

"Assemble your team, and meet Sonic and Tails at the ruins."

"Yes sir."

Metal Sonic then flew out of the room and prepared for departure.

Back with Sonic and Tails…

Sonic and Tails had finally arrived at the ruins and found Knuckles waiting for them.

"Dang it!" Sonic yelled for he had been to the ruins by Knuckles.

"Sonic," Knuckles spoke. "YOU WERE SPOSED TO BE HERE A HOUR AGO! WHERE WERE YOU?!"

"Easy Knuckles, we just decided to sleep in a little bit and get some actual rest."

"Fine then," Knuckles replied before turning around and looking at the temple. "Let's start looking."

The three then proceeded to enter the temple, but unbeknownst to them there were three pairs of optics staring right at them.

Inside the temple…

"Wow," Tails spoke. "This place is HUGE!"

And it certainly was, the temple was the size of a Mayan temple, with an underground extension.

"Your right Tails," Sonic replied. "But that raises the question as to how we are going to find the Emerald."

"I'll just sense it," Knuckles answered. "Then we can get a rough idea as to where it is, after all I can sense Chaos Energy."

Knuckles then sat down and started to meditate.

"How long is this going to take?" Sonic asked.

"As long as you keep talking," Knuckles replied.

Back with Eggman…

Eggman was watching out of Metal Sonic's optics and saw Knuckles begin to meditate, and suddenly knew he needed a change of plans because he didn't think about that once they had the Emerald, Sonic could just Chaos Control out.

"Metal Sonic," Eggman spoke. "Change of plans, you attack now!"

With Team Sonic…

Knuckles was still mediating on the floor and was seemingly lost in thought. Sonic was running around in circles, bored out of his mind. And Tails was just studying the inscriptions on the wall. Knuckles then stood up and spoke.

"The Chaos Emerald is in the basement of this place, bottom floor." He spoke.

Sonic was about to reply, but before he could the wall was blown inward.

Metal Sonic then flew out of the explosion and charged toward Team Sonic.
