An extra long chapter for an extra long apology? I'm so sorry i let this story hang out to dry but I'm trying to get it done. There are trigger warnings for abuse in this chapter. Again I'm so so sorry. Also, this isn't beta'd so any and all mistakes are mine.

"Kara, GO!" Jesna yelled out as she dodged a punch from one of Astras men. She took the aliens neck and threw him at the wall, breaking it.

"I won't leave you here!" Kara yelled out through the storm of bullets.

Alarms were blaring and red lights were flashing all throughout Fort Rozz as the two girls fought the aliens.

"Kara take Cat and just GO! She's being held two floors above us. I'll be fine. I can handle this!"

Before Kara can say anything else, a bomb exploded in between them causing the hallway to crumble down.

10 Hours Earlier.

"KIERA!" Cat yelled out. She was pacing around her office, holding different layouts in her hand.

"Yes Miss Grant?" Kara asked, rushing into the room. Cat looked at her and sighed. Kara was slightly disheveled and currently doing her best to fix herself up without making it obvious. I'm surprised she came here right after her fight

"The gala is tonight and I still haven't heard from Antoni. Where is my dress?" Cat asked as she sat back down at her desk putting the layouts away, still not making any eye contact.

"I will call him right now and get an update." Kara didn't wait for anything else before she began to head out. And she was right to do so considering Cat didn't say anything else.

Kara sat at her desk and put her head in her hands for a brief moment. It's been three days. Three days and Cat is as stoic and strict with her as she was on her first day when she was testing Karas capabilities. She picked her head up and dialed Antoni's Glamour Fashion number to see what the hell is taking so long with Cat's dress. She spoke with his assistant and urged the importance of having that dress done by tonight. After stressing Cat's annoyance, Antoni's assistant said, with fear in her voice, that the dress will be done in three hours. Kara hung up the phone and prepared herself.

"Miss Grant? Your dress should arrive in about three hours." Kara said. "Is there anything else. Cat looked up at her for a few seconds and dismissed her. Kara simply nodded and head back to her desk and worked with a few emails, waiting for the hours to go on by.

Speaking of hours going on by, Kara noted that tonight is the night Kara goes to check up on Jesna, to see if she made it back alright. She's giving her the benefit of the doubt. But Rao she is hoping that she's home by now. She had a terrible feeling in her gut when Jesna went down to the base and it still hasn't gone away. Alex's distrust in Jesna isn't exactly making things better either. She's still pushing Kara on having her and a team come with her to Non's base if Kara really has to go. At one point she told Kara to just let Jesna be but no way in hell would Kara be okay with that. She just got Jesna back and she refuses to lose her again.

"The gala will be hosted tonight." Astra told Non as they make the final adjustments to their plan.

"Is everything else set?" Non asked.

"Yes everything else is all set. We'll invade the gala and lure out Supergirl. Something has been bothering me though." Astra said looking at Non.

"What is it?"

"If Kara knows where this base is, why hasn't she made a move yet? Why hasn't she contacted her government allies?"

"What makes you think she hasn't?"

"There would've surely been some sort of invasion by now." Astra said bluntly. "What are they waiting for?"

"Do you think Jesna is working with them? Acting as a spy perhaps?" Non asked, getting more irritated at the younger girls presence.

"Jesna has a hatred for governments that can rival ours. I don't think she's helping them out in any way." Astra defended. She knows Non doesn't like Jesna. Only reason why he ever showed any interest in the girl was because of her strength.

"Yes but you said she was quite close with your niece. I wouldn't be surprised if she had managed to convince her." At this point they stopped what they were doing and stared each other down. Astra was determined to defend Jesna and Non could see it. He hated how she let her emotions carry over every now and then.

"I don't think three years of a childhood friendship," Astra began, getting closer to her husband, "Is enough to overrule more than two decades of hatred for the very system that gave her a punishment worse than death." They were silent for a moment before a nurse walked in and announced herself.

"Jesna has woken up. The stimulant we gave her worked." The nurse said.

"I'll be right there." Astra said. She gave Non one final look and left the room.

When Astra walked into the medical ward, she saw two doctors hovering over Jesna, checking her vitals. "How is she?" She asked.

"General," One of the doctors spoke up. "Her vitals are normal and she shows no sign of external trauma. We are now receiving the data we received from her body when she was exposed to the sunlight. We will be comparing them shortly." Astra looked at Jesna and paid no mind to her annoyed face.

"Bring all the results here. I want to see them myself." Astra said. The two doctors agreed and left the room. "How do you feel?" she asked.

Jesna looked around at her surroundings, seeing all these machines around her, all these needles and patches on her made her a little uneasy. "Well my body is still tingling if that's what you're asking. And all of this," she motioned around her. "All these tests, are a bit overwhelming. I certainly did not expect to face the sun in hopes of feeling better."

"You don't feel even the slightest bit rejuvenated? Stronger?" Astra asked her. She doesn't want to assume anything until she has seen the results herself.

"Not really, no. I've been out there in the world for the last 12 years. If the sun made me feel stronger I would've known by now. But all it does is make me feel pain. The excruciating kind." Jesna reminded Astra. "Don't get me wrong I'm very thankful for you taking the time to try and help me but I really don't know if it'll work."

Astra smiled. "That's why we have science. Just because you feel one way doesn't mean it's true. We'll take a look at your results and we'll find out for sure."

"Okay" Jesna sighed. The two doctors walked back in with three different tablets and Non behind them.

"So what we have here is her body before the sun exposure," He handed the first tablet to Astra. "We compared your blood to her blood and noticed that she has these platelet like spikes that flow in and around her bloodstream. These we assume is the enzyme that you mentioned before. She has millions of them all throughout her body. Here is her body and blood during the sun exposure." He showed all of them the second tablet.

"As you can see, the spikes increase in size and absorb heat faster than your skin does when exposed to sunlight. This is what we believe is the root of the pain. These spikes get swollen from the ultra violet rays of the sun, causing increased pressure on the surrounding nerves."

"That would explain why I feel a billion different burning knives are sprouting within me every time I go out in the sun" Jesna scoffed. Although she is relieved to know how all of this is happening. As far as she knew before, her blood boiled at the sight of the sun, literally.

"So her body enflames when exposed to the sun's rays. Is that all?" Non asked impatiently.

"Well it's here that we found something interesting." The other doctor said, gesturing to the third tablet. "Jesna was outside in the sun for 3 minutes and after she was brought back in and rested, we noticed her spike count decreased by 0.001%."

Jesnas mouth opened. No way. No fucking way. This can't be happening.

"So it's just as I thought." Astra said turning to Jesna. "The sun is healing you." Jesna didn't quite know what to say. On one hand she was so happy to know there was a cure. On the other hand though, that cure came with the price of excruciating pain. Pain that makes me pass out for Rao knows how long.

"I know it hurt you. But surely this is good news for you, knowing you can be cured." Astra said with a small smile.

"Y-yea. I um, don't really know what to say at the moment." Jesna said with a laugh, trying to levy the situation for herself. "Thank you though." She said looking at the doctors. The doctors nodded and left as Astra dismissed them.

"So we will keep working on this then. Everyday we will let you out in the sun little by little. Nothing too big, perhaps when it's just rising or setting." Astra suggested. "We can monitor your progress here and continue working from there."

"I guess," Jesna said worriedly. "If thats the only way."

"Then its settled." Astra declared.

Shit Jesna thought

"I'm happy you have found your cure so now there is something I have to ask you." Non said all too seriously. Astra looked at him, having a hunch at where this is going.

"What is it?" Jesna asked confused.

"You came here with Supergirl didn't you? She knows of our location?" Non asked, looking Jesna straight in the eyes. If she was caught off guard by the question, Non noticed she didn't show it.

"Why would I ever join forces with Supergirl to find you? Isn't she after you guys?" At their nod she continued. "Had I told her about your whereabouts you wouldn't have been able to help me. Besides, I haven't seen or spoken to Kara since before I was sentenced. I can't exactly go outside a lot."

"So you have no connection with her what so ever?" Non asked leaning closer.

"Not a single one."

"So you wouldn't mind if we disposed of her tonight would you?"

Jesna leaned closer herself. "Her family is the reason why i'm here suffering. I literally couldn't care less what you do to the remainder of the house of Zor-El." She showed no pain in her voice, no doubt what so ever. She looked over to Astra who showed no emotion in her face.

"Good then you'll help us." He said.

"How so?"

"Tonight is a special gala and all of National City's elites will be present. We will attack that gala and lure her out. We'll bring her here and imprison her since she already knows where we are."

"If the doctors clear me i'm all yours." Was all Jesna said.

"They will." Non said and with that he left the room, Astra following behind him.

"See you soon" She called after them. She sighed when they left and put her hand on her head.

Double shit.

To say the gala was impressive, is an understatement. Kara looked around ballroom, taking in all the lavish decorations and all the fortune 500 CEO's dressed in attire thats more than her paycheck. The sun has set and as the moon rose, more and more people began entering the ballroom with their respective partners.

Kara was snacking on some hors d'oeuvres when her hearing picked up an all too familiar heartbeat and clicking of heels. She turned around and chocked on her little sandwich when she saw her. Cat, walked in like she sponsored this entire gala herself. Her deep emerald dress contrasted perfectly with her blonde hair and her light pink lipstick matched the blush on her cheeks. This is such bull-

"Wow Cat looks good!" Winn said, interrupting Kara's train of thought. Kara nodded in agreement. The dress was a good choice for Cat. It was flowy, but not too flowy and stopped right above her knees. A somewhat deep v-neck cut ran down her chest and thanks to the lack of sleeves, her arms were shown off in the light. "Kara you alright?" he asked.

Kara turned to look at him, finally tearing her eyes away from her boss. "Y-yea I'm fine, Winn. I'm just counting down the time until I have to leave." She told him. It wasn't exactly a lie, that's what she was doing. But she was anything but fine. She was worried about Jesna and Cat didn't call her in for the rest of the day until after her dress came. Clearly the older woman was still mad.

"Thats right you have to go make sure everything is okay. How much longer?"

"One hour. I'll sneak away when the speakers start giving their speeches." Kara said, turning back around to the table full of food. She took a plate and began putting Cat's favorites on it.

"Keep eating like that and I won't be the only one who finds out. Who else can eat for an army and remain fit?" Cat said from behind her. Kara turned around and blushed.

"These are actually for you. I was going to bring them over to your table, unless you don't want them."

"Do what you want, Kiera." Cat said as she walked away to her table. Kara sighed and looked down.

"Thats rough buddy." Winn said apologetically. Kara looked at him and gave him a small smile.

"Just 57 more minutes." She said as she walked over to Cat, determined to bring her food.

Three steps in is when it happened. The ceiling caved in and the screaming started. It took Kara all of three seconds to realize what was happening. She recognized the alien suits in front of her. She used the commotion to her advantage and snuck away to change. She was back four seconds later and in three after that, she knocked down one of the aliens. She called for Alex on her comms as she dodged an attack and knocked away another suit.

She stood in the middle of the ballroom as more aliens surrounded her. She eyed them all carefully. The room fell silent as three figures flew in from above. Kara's eyes widened as she saw Astra and Non enter with..Jesna.

"Hello Supergirl." Non said as he stepped forward.

"Non" Kara said icily, her eyes not leaving Jesnas who remained stoic.

"If you want everyone here to remain alive, I suggest you surrender." Non said simply.

"As if you're a man of your word" Kara spat out as she lunged towards him. Non didn't move out of her way because it was Jesna that intercepted Karas attack and threw her back across the room.

"Now now Supergirl, thats a lieutenant you're speaking to. Show some respect." Jesna said, her voice cold as she saw Kara getting back up. Before Kara got a chance to say anything, Jesna shot her heat vision at Kara who just barely shot her own back.

Kara pushed herself but she saw Jesna was unaffected. The latter began walking towards the hero, her heat vision growing stronger with each step. Before it could get too bad, Kara flew up and dodged the beams.

"She doesn't seem to be too surprised to see you." Non commented, clearly looking to stir up trouble. Jesna looked at him and back at Kara.

"You can't blame her," She began flying up to match Kara's height. "She was always a slow girl." Jesna drawled out. It was then the DEO barged in, shooting every hostile alien down on sight. Jesna took this opportunity to get to Kara but Kara was prepared and began fighting back.

Jesna easily blocked her attacks and grabbed her in a chokehold from behind and inhumanly fast whispered in Karas ear.

I'm sorry.

And threw her down as she rammed down the DEO agents.

"Astra! Take Cat Grant! We could use her!" Jesna yelled out over the fire. Astra nodded and used her super speed to grab Cat. Kara's eyes widened with anger and pinned Jesna to the ground.

Alex came in with her suit donned, ready to take out the threat. "Supergirl are you okay?"

"Doesn't matter if she's okay, one more step and this pathetic human gets her neck snapped!" Non said. Kara looked up and saw Non's arm wrapped around Cats neck. She tried her best to look fine but Kara knew she was scared.

Kara looked back down at the woman under her. Jesna had no emotion in her face which made Kara all the more confused. "Get off me." She said. "It's best for everyone if you comply."

"Listen to her Supergirl." Astra said. Something is stirring up inside her. She doesn't know what exactly it is. She's assuming it's because she sees her beloved niece finally for the first time in decades her only true friend from Krypton is back but under such unfortunate circumstances. As much as Astra helped Jesna, Jesna helped Astra. Jesna was Astras reminder of Kara in Fort Rozz. She was a light in that dark world. To see them both fight, made her feel uneasy, but she still didn't lose sight in their mission.

Kara slowly got up. She can't afford, no, refuses, to do anything that puts Cat in anymore danger. Jesna got up from under her and stood facing her. "You're coming with us."

"Like hell she is!" Alex yelled out.

"If I get a whiff of you government dogs coming after us, you can say goodbye to both of them." Non said. "In fact, lets keep you all busy." He pulled out a remote and pressed a button which was followed by an explosion. As well as more aliens running towards the building, fighting off the DEO agents outside.

Kara stood still with her face angry, staring Jesna right in the eyes as her friend stared back. "What happened to you? What did they do to you?" Jesna didn't say anything and before Kara could react, Jesna punched her right in the stomach hard enough to knock her out.

"Supergirl!" Both Alex an Cat yelled out. Alex aimed at Jesna but Astra appeared in front of Alex and the two began fighting, blocking each other's punches as one tries to pin down the other.

Jesna placed a device on Karas chest and flew off with her. Non followed her with Cat and Astra left just before she could get shot. The three Kryptonians raced off towards the base, leaving the DEO agents in the ruins behind them.

"I knew that girl was no good! I should've shot her when I had the chance!" Alex yelled as she slammed her equipment on the table.

"What happened out there?" J'onn asked as he looked at the monitors.

"Non and his crew attacked. And guess what, Jesna was with them. Knocked Supergirl out and flew away with her. Winn I need a location NOW" Alex was frustrated to say the least. Winn quickly sat in his seat and began searching for his friend.

"They shut off her tracker." He said.

"They're probably at their base. Winn check Supergirls coordinates from when she and Jesna went searching for Non's base." J'onn ordered.

"They scoured the entire desert, it'll take a while." Winn said as he began working. Alex hovered over him.

"Work. Faster." Alex gritted out.

Winn broke his typing record.

Kara's head was spinning as she was waking up. When she opened her eyes, she squinted at the bright lights around her and quickly noticed the restraints on her arms, legs and head. She was sitting upright in a chair and across from her, was Jesna. She was standing against the wall looking right at her, or so Kara assumed. Jesna was wearing her sunglasses so it was harder to tell what the girl was feeling.

"Hey princess"

"Don't you dare princess me." Kara said. She was furious, hurt. Jesna gave a small smile. "Why are you smiling? Did you plan this from the start? What happened to you?" Kara nearly yelled out as she tried to fight out of her restraints. A second later Jesna was in front of her, her hand ghosting Kara's neck. Kara heard her take a deep breath and step back.

"I'm sorry." Jesna said as she faced the wall. She took another deep breath and turned back around. "I owe you an explanation. A story, if you will." Jesna said, hoping the familiar word would get the blonde to calm down.

"I don't care for your stories. Where are Non and Astra? Where's Cat?" Kara started to get angrier and Jesna noticed.

"Non and Astra won't bother us until i'm 'done with you'. Cat is fine. She's with someone I trust." Jesna explained. She left Cat with Arnil, yea he hates humans but she asked him nicely.

"That doesn't comfort me in the slightest."

"I mean, you're not exactly supposed to be comfortable here now are you?" Jesna said, referring to their situation. "Please, just allow me to explain. Non and Astra think i'm tearing you a new one. Taking out my near three decade resentment against your family on you."

"You're an idiot if you think they don't have this room bugged."

"They don't. I made sure of that. So please," Jesna pulled up a chair and sat across from Kara. "Let me explain everything. From the beginning."

"Fine. You won't have long. I'm sure Alex is already getting a team together."

Jesna smiled. "Remember that time we went to the Ryend? You read about the purple sharths. Said you had to see one in person." Kara nodded, fighting the urge to smile at the memory. Purple sharths were rare creatures in Krypton. They were originally brown but became endangered because their fur could be sold at very high prices. Purple ones were even more rare. "We spent the whole day looking and couldn't find even a brown one. You had to get home before it got too dark so we decided to call it a day. I came home a little later, I took the longer route home. Despite that, when I came home, my father was already drunk."

This got Karas attention. "Drunk?" Kara asked. She didn't know much about Jesnas father, just that he worked in the mines.

"Yea my father was what you call here, a druggie. A raging one at that. In the mines there was a mineral that the workers used to get more energy. I don't remember what it's called, but I do remember that it affects everyone differently." Jane sighed. "For my father, it made him angry and violent." She saw Karas face change to worry, Jesna gave a small smile. "Don't make that face, it was a long time ago."

"Jesna, what happened?"

"That night wasn't anything new. He was always like that. It drove my mother away. I still don't know why she didn't take me but I stopped asking myself that years ago. Anyways, he acted out. He yelled, threw shit, broke shit. And then he got bored of that. I made the rookie mistake of going to the bathroom. When I saw his face I got scared and ran away. He chased after me for a few minutes but despite being a mine worker, he was a sloth. I outran him.

"I ended up going back to the Ryend. I thought that if- if I could at least find you a sharth, it would all be worth it." Jesna said with a smile. "I wouldn't have cared about him because I know the smile you'd get would shine brighter than any sun. Problem with the Ryend is that at night, the trees block any light from coming in. It was insane. It was darker than closing your eyes at night. But I didn't mind, walking in blind was something I did everyday. It was at least, until I met you. You were the sun in my life and the day I met you I wanted to never walk blind again."

"Jesna, I-"

"Let me finish." Jesna saw how Kara was clenching her fists. "After walking for who knows how long, I figured it's time to go back. I won't be able to see a sharth in this darkness anyways. As I started to head back, I heard something rustling around me. I picked up my pace because I didn't want to get into anymore trouble. But I wasn't fast enough. A Kryer tackled me and bit me in my side."

"A kryer?!" Kara yelled. She read about them when she was young. Dangerous creatures that should never be engaged. She remembered what they do to people. "Oh no, Jesna-"

"I said let me finish. Stop interrupting. Rao, twenty something years later and you still can't sit still huh? A kryer bit me but I managed to push it off and run away. I never ran so fast in my life before. I thought that the adrenaline I was feeling then was because of what just happened. I didn't know what a kryer was. I just thought this beast attacked me and I needed to escape. But it turns out it wasn't just adrenaline running through me. But pure rage.

"I came home and my father was asleep. But the mere sight of him just sent me ablaze and I began to attack him. He woke up from my hits and started to fight back but I was faster, stronger. I couldn't stop. I didn't want to stop. The feeling of my fists and nails connecting with his face just felt too good. I didn't want to let go of that feeling so I held on to it as long as I could. Longer than he was awa-alive." Jesna took off her sunglasses and rubbed her eyes. She put them back on and looked up at her friend whose face can only be described as stunned. "I was sentenced to Fort Rozz for the violent murder of Rasno Dral, a mine worker." At that, Karas jaw went slack, and then tightened as she clenched her fists tighter. The room was quiet for a moment before Kara spoke up.

"But-but you were bitten by a kryer. Surely that had to account for something? You weren't in control!" Kara was fighting back tears. Tears for her friend that unknowingly to her, led such a hard life.

"After explaining to them what happened, and my father's history they ruled it as a crime of passion. Your mother also apparently received statements from people saying i was always a 'problem child' and that what i did was 'inevitable' for someone like me. Besides, news of a kryer attack would be a political nightmare so they sealed away my case and put me where I wont bother anyone of importance."

"No, I refuse to belive that. My mother wouldn't sentence a child to Fort Rozz." Kara shook her head. Jesna clenched her hands together.

"A child who committed the crime of an adult, Kara. I was around 15 years old and I was infected so they locked me up. I don't regret what I did though." Kara's attention piqued at that.

"What do you mean? You don't regretting killing your father?"

"Not in the slightest. He wasn't a man deserving of life." Jesna said non-chalantly. "I genuinely feel no remorse for taking his life. But, I do have one regret." Jesna took off her sunglasses and looked at Kara, squinting a little at the light. "I regret not saying goodbye to you."

At that, Kara let out a few tears. She couldn't hold them back anymore. Her best friend, tormented far longer than she thought. Longer than Fort Rozz and Kara had no idea. And this only happened because-

"Oh Rao, this is my fault." Kara said, shutting her eyes.

"Wait-what?" Jesna was lost. "Wha-what is your fault?"

"You went to Ryend for me. If-if I hadn't been so insistent then-" Jesnas laughter interrupted Kara.

"Kara! Stop!" Jesna got up and squatted in front of Kara. "Not once, did I ever blame you. Everything I did was of my own volition. If anything, thinking about you and how you were doing, and sharing stories with Astra is what made the darkest days in that prison just a bit more bearable. You were always like a little sister to me." Jesna smiled.

Kara looked into Jesnas eyes and took a deep breath. "What about now? Are you still infected? Surely you can't be, you'd be dead by now."

"Fort Rozz's lack of time progression stalled the spread of the infection. And because even the damn air is different here, the infection seems to be going away, ever so painfully and slowly. I still have some symptoms but it's not worth getting into now." Jesna got up and went back to her chair. "Non and Astra, well, just Astra really, figured out a way to heal me."

"So thats why you're working with them." Kara scoffed. "Can I just ask you something?" Jesna nodded.

"Why did you take Cat?" Kara asked, a pleading look in her eyes.

"Insurance purposes." Jesna stated. "We needed you to come alone. But don't worry." She said as she walked behind the blonde.

"Don't worry?" Kara asked, surprised as she felt the restraint on her head get unclasped.

"Mhm. Because we're going to destroy this place and you can go save your girlfriend from the nasty villain. Get you some bonus points after lying to her. OH and yes Denz may or may not have outed you but it was not his intention he thought she already knew." Jesna quickly as as she unclasped Karas hands.

"She's not my girlfriend. I don't understand, I thought they were helping you." Kara asked, even more confused. She'll revisit the identity issue with her later.

"They were, but then Non threatened my little sister. I was ready to shove my hand through his hole of a chest." Jesna said as she undid the last of Karas restraints. Kara got up and looked Jesna straight in the eyes.

"This isn't another ploy?" Kara asked seriously. She was done playing around. Jesna lifted up her pinky and in her other hand were two comms.

"I swear on my life, I will get the both of you out of here." After a moment, Kara took Jesnas pinky in her own and put on a comm. Jesna smiled. "Im willing to bet five dollars that there are armed guards ready to shoot us down right outside those doors."

"Make it ten." Kara said as they walked to the door.

"Thats my girl." Jesna said with a bigger smile as she opened the door and lo and behold, three guars, armed and ready.

"Hello boys." Jesna and Kara greeted with a punch.

"I found it!" Winn shouted and spun around in his chair only to see Alex and her team already leaving the building, suited up and guns blazing.

"Send us the coordinates!" She shouted. Winn did just that as he saw Alex leave with a bloodlust he's never seen before.

"Agent Danvers we're 15 minutes out." One agent said as he sped across the sandy roads. Alex nodded and began to prepare herself. She's getting her sister back by any means necessary.

What she didn't expect to see however, was an underground base, blaring with alarms. That didnt stop her from sending her team in though.

"Kara, GO!" Jesna yelled out as she dodged a punch from one of Astras men. She took the aliens neck and threw him at the wall, breaking it.

"I won't leave you here!" Kara yelled out through the storm of bullets. When they got past the initial guards, alarms started screaming and more guards filled the halls.

Alarms were blaring and red lights were flashing all throughout Fort Rozz as the two girls fought the aliens.

"Kara take Cat and just GO! She's being held two floors above us. I'll be fine. I can handle this! Tell me when you get to her!"

Before Kara can say anything else, a bomb exploded in between them causing the hallway to crumble down. Kara gave one last look before breaking through two ceilings to get to Cat.

As she fought through different aliens, one grabbed her by her hair and yanked her to the wall. Kara stumbled getting up which allowed her opponent to continue attacking her. Before he could do any more damage, he was shot down. Kara looked up and saw her sister come up to her.

"Hey, you okay?" Alex asked as she helped Kara up.

"Yea thanks. I have to get to Cat." Kara said

"Where's Jesna?" Kara recognized that anger. She's seen it only a few times but she knew what was going on in Alex's mind.

"She's helping me downstairs. It's a long story but she's on our side. Don't do anything to her!" Kara said as she ran off looking for Cat and before Alex could object. She smiled as she heard Alex curse under her breath and shoot another alien.

Kara used her x ray vision to look through every room and stopped dead in her tracks as she recognized the familiar form behind a door. She barged through the door, scaring Cat (though the latter would never admit it) in the process. The two looked at each other, both automatically feeling safer.

"Cat" Kara breathed out. "Are you okay?" She asked, taking a tentative stepped forward. She suddenly felt like the timid Kara Danvers than the bold Supergirl.

"Well it took you long enough!" Cat said. "Honestly this terrible lighting is not doing anyone any favors." Kara just smiled and pressed into her comms.

"Jesna I got her." Cats eyebrows rose at the mention of the other girl.

The reply came almost instantly. "Okay good, now get out. I have a way of immobilizing everyone here but you'll get caught in the crossfire so I need you to leave now." There was grunting and more explosions happening on the other side of the line.

"Wait Alex and her team are here too. Will they be affected?" Kara asked as she took Cat's hand and led her out. Cat made sure not pay any mind to it.

"Shit. Yes they will. You guys have five minutes. I can't promise they'll be safe after that. Please Kara get them out of here and get as far away as possible."

"Wait what are you planning on doing?" Kara asked. She sees Alex at the end of the hallway.

"Its an electric pulse that the guards would use if theres a prison riot. It would paralyze anybody not in proper gear in an instant."

"Wait what about you?" Kara got worried.

"I'll be fine, I took some gear off someone. Now GO" Jesna cut the line.

"Jesna? Jesna!" Kara huffed as she got to Alex.

"What happened?" Alex asked.

"We need to leave. Now. Jesna knows a way to get everyone down but we'll be caught in it." Kara explained. Alex nodded and sent out a message through her comms.

"Lets go." The three women managed to exit the compound without running into too many aliens.

Outside though, they found Astra waiting for them.

"Hello, little one."

"Alex. Take Cat and go. I'll catch up." Kara said, not taking her eyes off Astra. Alex wanted to help fight Astra but knew that Kara's priority was Cat's safety.

"Listen to me very carefully." Kara turned around to face Cat, shocked at her sudden tone. "You come back. Do you understand? You come back safe." She enunciated that last word. Kara felt something warm blossom in her chest. She smiled and nodded.

"I promise." Alex gave Kara her comm so they can stay in contact and led Cat to the car. They drove off, leaving the two kryptonian family members to battle it out.

Jesna took out all the aliens that stood in her way with an all too familiar blood rush. She cut off her comms with Kara, knowing that the girl will just keep arguing with her. Always has to have it her way Jesna thought with a chuckle. What a princess indeed. She finally got to where she was heading, the control room.

"Why am I not surprised" Jesna said as she entered the room to see the man whom she's been waiting for standing in the center. "You know Non, a leader is supposed to lead his men from the front lines, not hide behind in a room like a coward." She said with a grin.

"You brat. I never should've let Astra trust you. She was always weak like that." Non spat out.

"And husband of the year award goes to!" Jesna made finger guns at the man standing a few yards in front of her. "You know why I'm here Non. Best to just step aside and let me do what I came here for."

"Or what?" He asked, cocking his head to the side.

"Or else, i'll be forced to have some fun." Jesna said. She slid down her glasses and blasted some lights with her heat vision, allowing her to take off her glasses.

"What, you think just because you pop a few light bulbs you'll get an advantage?" Non asked, readying a stance.

"Oh no, not at all." Jesna said, taking off her sunglasses. "I just want to able to see with my bare eyes, all the blood I'm going to spill out of you." Her grin turned into a vicious smile as she lunged towards him. "This is for Kara!"

"Aunt Astra." Kara said, no emotion in her voice.

"Was it nice, seeing Jesna again?" Astra asked. Her question threw Kara off guard. "I just remember how fondly you spoke of each other." She gave a mirthless smile, but her eyes had a distant look to them. "Its a shame that it had to turn out this way."

"I couldn't agree more." Kara said. They gave one last look to each other and began fighting.

They took to the skies, giving themselves more agility in dodging hits.

"You know, when I saw Jesna walk in, my hatred for your mothers ideals only grew. How can she possibly send a child to such a horrid place?" Astra began talking. "Especially a child her daughter was so fond of?"

Kara couldn't say anything. What was she supposed to say? She didnt agree with the sentencing either but she couldn't let Astra know that. Even if Astra did know it, Kara could never voice it.

"I saw her walk in through the doors scared but ready. And that was the saddest part. This young girl is scared but she knows the horrors that await her so she prepared herself. I couldn't help but think of you. 'What if it were Kara here?' I asked myself. I banished the thought as soon as it entered my mind. I would never want you to endure such suffering." Astra continued talking as they fought. She could see the anger boiling up inside of Kara.

"So I took it upon myself to watch over her. To protect her, something your mother failed to do." She caught one of Kara's punches and twisted her arm behind her. "When Jesna told me what happened, I became more furious with the system. But i was mainly angry at the fact that Jesna didn't bear the same hatred towards your mother. Do you wanna know what she told me?" Astra asked and Kara nearly screamed in pain as her arm was twisted more. "She told me she couldn't hate the woman who gave her the most important person in her life. She said your name with such a smile and that is what made me realize that no justification could ever come from arresting this poor, innocent girl." Kara used her breath to push her back into Astra, causing the older woman to let go of her arm. Kara then put some distance between them. Astra wasn't done talking though.

"Jesna had a lot of anger issues so she got in trouble a lot but it was always the thought of you that calmed her down in the end. Tell me little one, how does it feel knowing that you saved those two women but you left your old friend in there to rot for a second time?"

"Enough!" Kara yelled out. "Jesna is going to get out of there and she is going to live her life the way she always deserved!" Kara shot out her heat vision to which Astra promptly countered.

"Oh, my dear. Non is there. He won't let that happen." Astra said as she pushed her heat vision further.

"Jesna has a plan." Kara said, focusing on bringing her opponent down. "Something about a pulse that guards would use to control all of you at once." Astra's heat vision was too strong and nearly blew Kara out of the sky.

Astra flew towards Kara. "There was no such thing." Astra said with a confused look. Kara looked at her, tried to call her bluff.

"Then what was she talking abou-" A series of loud explosions interrupted her.

Both women looked down to see Fort Rozz covered in flames.
