Note:
This particular piece of fanfiction actually doesnt mention anything about fullmetal alchemist (except for the planet and how the culture was started) Untill chapter 3 or so. Its more of a story created using some of my own characturs. I hope you enjoy it anyways!
The Early Adventures of James and Sneis on the Forgotten Planet of New Discoveries.

Preface
What a long, tedious job, Thought Benjamin R. Oorman, the leader of the main team in charge of keeping the archives updated. The Galactic Trade Union was notoriously bad at anything involving filing or information, so it fell to those who liked keeping things neat. That meant a solid, well-paying, boring job for such people like historians who had nothing really better to do, or secretaries, who always needed jobs.
It was something to do, and had set hours with set pay, so at least everybody got to go home to their families each night. There were rare occasions where a politician requested all known information about certain planets or sectors, and sometimes those lead to all-nighters, but those were rare, and came with some handsome overtime pay, so Benjamin really couldn't complain.
Today, he was working on a small and out of the way area called the Andrian Sector. There was one planet, called Shamela, Benjamin noted, that could support life, and was about the same distance and position of earth. Checking the details again, he noticed it was exactly the same distance from its sun as earth. And, looking deeper, the landmass to water ratio was exactly the same as well. As Benjamin's brain tried to assimilate the sheer impossibility of such a thing, he took a look at its known history.
It was colonized in 2325 by a religious sect called the Ancients. The believed that the Arcane knowledge of Alchemy could truly be useful, and were something along the lines of the Ancient Amish Society. They used ancient methods of farming, and were rather hostile to anyone who wanted change. They requested permission to colonize a new found planet, and stated they would revert to a primitive society. They were given permission, and no one was really sad to see them go. They had lived on the most fertile grounds in the world for countless ages, and now the commercial producers could come in and exploit the area.
They had been forgotten, and no note about them had ever been made, save by a long-dead official that said the colony should be reconnected after a "suitable period of time." Benjamin thought that maybe their time to return to the federation had come, and sent the file to the Interstellar Biological Society, who would decide if it was worth looking into. And since the matter was now out of his hands, Benjamin moved on. There were other planets to re-discover. This one was finished according to him.
