One of my first memories is of the sun.

It stands to reason that sometime after that Roger told me it wasn't healthy to look at the sun, as doing so for an extended period of time would result in blindness.

In fact, I could not even stand in the light of the sun, as harmful rays would damage my skin and cause cancer. Not unless I was covered head to toe in sunscreen.

Instead, I stood in darkness.

I do not have many memories of the sun. Not even of sunsets or rises. I only looked at the colors of the clouds, the shallow affect of that star on its surroundings.

I once heard that if you see the face of God you go insane.

If you see the sun, you go blind.

I do not think it is beneficial to be protected. If I am protected I will lack certain experiences, and experience is needed, to an extent, to understand.

Is that why I don't understand?

If the sun is God then I will look at it.

If I go blind at least I'll know I've seen more than just the ground.
