Well here's the next chapter, I hope you guys like it.
The Past
It was another typical day in New York City. The skies were clear and the sun shined down on the streets. Everywhere you looked it was full of people walking and driving. It was a normal city with normal streets and normal people…well, except for one place. There was one street in this city that was different from the others. In this street sometimes things happened that most people would consider strange and weird. This street was called Waverly Place. The reason for the strange things was because of certain individuals. The very same individuals that were walking the street this very moment. One was a tall young man with dark hair and brown eyes. The other was a beautiful young girl, also with dark hair and brown eyes.
"Alex I can't believe you failed your math test." The young man said with a disappointed look. "Oh, wait…yes I can" he said thinking it over.
Alex gave him an irritated look. "It's not my fault, math is just supposed to be about numbers why are there letters in it!" She said looking at her test. "Alex is called algebra pick up a book and learn about it." He said it like he was speaking to a nine year old.
"Oh shut it." She said angrily.
"What are you going to tell mom and dad?" He asked. They could see their family's sandwich shop far up a head. "What they don't know won't hurt them." She said as she put the test inside her backpack. "Whatever just don't come crying to me when you get caught" He said, knowing that their parents will eventually find out.
"Don't worry, I won't" She said smiling at him. He just rolled his eyes.
As they kept walking Justin suddenly had to stop. He began to feel a small sensation in his chest. It was like pressure was building, but not enough that would hurt. It was just really uncomfortable. He looked down and began to breathe a little heavily.
"What's wrong?" Alex asked a little concerned. When he didn't respond she touched his shoulder to make him look at her. When he turned his face to her, she saw that he was becoming pale.
"It's nothing, its just…I been having this weird feeling all day that makes me a little dizzy." He explained while taking deep breaths.
"Maybe you should tell dad about it, it might have something to do with you know what." She said with the last part more quietly.
"This coming from the girl who is hiding her failed math test." He said sarcastically as they started to walk again. Alex gave him a look. "Justin I'm serious, this could be more important then a failed test." Alex said.
Justin started to get annoyed, but then his face softened when he saw that she really was concerned. "Alex I'm really am fine." He said.
As they reached the sub station Justin opened the door for Alex. Alex gave him one last glance and gave up on trying to convince him. She walked in with him soon following.
The station wasn't that packed today. Jerry was attending a few customers on the cashier while Theresa was getting the orders. It seems there wasn't that much work to be done. Justin and Alex went inside the lair to leave their backpacks and then came back out. As they went over to stand behind the counter, Theresa walked over to them and sat down at the other side.
"Hi kids, how was school today?" Theresa asked.
"Oh you know the usual." Alex said casually. That's the thing that made Justin jealous about Alex. He wished he could lie like that. She was so good at it. Jerry came over as he finished taking care of the last customer.
"Hi guys." He said "Max is still at soccer practice, so will start the magic lessons in a little while when he gets back." Jerry was about to leave, but stopped when he saw Justin's face. Justin was a little pale. "Hey Justin are you alright?" He asked concerned. Theresa and Alex looked at Justin.
"Ay mio hijo are you getting sick?" Theresa asked worried as she touched his forehead. Justin looked over at Alex. She was pointing at their parents with her head, telling him to tell them. "No, I'm fine I just didn't sleep well last night." He lied glaring at Alex. "I'm gonna go rest for a little while." The weird feeling he had been feeling all day came back, but this time it was stronger than ever. Justin started to walk towards the lair, but stopped and held his chest tightly. His chest was beginning to burn up. He didn't know what was happening, but it got to the point were he couldn't stand it anymore. He collapsed on the floor.
"Justin!" All three of them yelled.
Justin was beginning to black out. He closed his eyes tightly as they started to burn. He tried to open them, but only managed to do it for a few seconds. All he could tell from that short amount of time was that Alex was kneeling right next to him. He saw the worried look on her face. He couldn't stand it anymore he had to close his eyes. He felt like his whole body was burning on hot lava, he thought if he touched anything it would melt. He got to the point were he thought he would pass out from the pain. All he heard was Alex yelling at her parents to do something and Jerry telling Theresa to call 911. She nodded and stood up, but before she got to the phone something happened.
The ground began to shake very hard. It was shaking so hard that Theresa lost her balance and fell on the ground.
"Theresa!" Jerry yelled as he ran towards her.
The sky became covered with dark clouds. Lightning and thunder appeared and wind blew hard.
The things on the shelves, tables, and counter began to fall. It was shaking so hard it looked like the ceiling was about to cave in at any minute.
Alex used her body to cover Justin as stuff began to fall.
The people who were eating got under the tables. Everybody on the street began to panic and scream. They ran not even knowing were they were going. Some people used the wall to stand up while others fell to the ground and covered their heads. Windows everywhere began to shatter, glass went flying all over the street. Street lights fell down to the ground. It was becoming total chaos out on the streets.
Justin could barely feel or hear anything anymore. All he could feel was something soft on top of him while he heard people screaming. The pain was unbearable, he didn't know what to do. As smart as he was he felt powerless and scared. He felt like he was about to die…
………….
Suddenly the pain went away just like that, along with everything else.
No earthquake, no lightning, no wind and no screaming, total silence.
Justin felt fine. He slowly opened his eyes and stared at the ceiling. After a few moments he finally got his senses back and noticed that Alex was in top of him. Her head was in the crook of his neck while she had her arms around him tightly. He lifted his right hand and gently touched her back. "Alex?"
Alex snapped her eyes open and raised her head to look at Justin.
"Justin?" She said with a few tears.
He saw the tears and that made him sad. He didn't like it when she cried. He used his left hand to wipe her tears of her face. "Why are you crying?" He asked softly. He hated seeing her like that.
He sat up laying his back against the counter with her straddling him. She quickly hugged him. "I'm so glad you're okay"
"I thought that you were going to…" She didn't even want to finish that sentence.
His face lit up with surprise as she hugged him. He slowly put his arms around her. "I'm not going anywhere." He whispered into her ear.
After a few moments they stood up and looked around. It was a total mess. Tables were knocked over with chairs on the ground. Broken plates with food were on the floor. All the things that were on the tables, ketchup, mustard, salt, napkins, were spilled all over the ground. Everything was a big mess. They didn't even want to look inside the kitchen. The customers who were hiding under the tables began to come out. Their eyes stopped scanning the room when they saw their parents.
"Mom, Dad!" They both said as they ran towards them.
Jerry was under a table that fell in top of him with Theresa under him. Justin quickly lifted the table off of them. "Mom, Dad are you guys alright?" he asked. Jerry stood up helping Theresa up. "Yeah, were fine." He said as he looked at all the damage.
"Honey, why are you standing?" Theresa asked when she saw Justin. Jerry immediately looked at Justin.
"Because…I need to stand to…walk?" Justin said slowly with a weird look.
"No I meant because a minute ago you were on the ground in serious pain." She explained looking him over strangely, trying to find something wrong with him.
"Well, I'm fine now." He said looking at himself. Before she could say anything else Alex cut her of.
"Hey, what's going on outside?" She asked as she watched the people outside. They were all running towards something that was down the street.
The street was full of glass everywhere and a few light posts were on the ground. There were some people on the ground who were injured on the street. Seven stores down the street from the sub station, a small crowd of people who weren't hurt began gather. Alex, Justin and Jerry went outside while Theresa went to the phone to check on Max. As they got closer Alex tried to see what all the fuss was about, but couldn't see much. All she could see was smoke coming out from whatever was there.
"Can you guys see anything?" Alex asked jumping up trying to see.
"No, all I can see is smoke coming out." Jerry said.
Justin didn't know why, but for some strange reason he had to see…whatever it was. His body got a mind of its own and started to push through the crowd. He didn't care about the looks he got from the people he pushed. Alex and Jerry looked at each other and decided to follow him. When they caught up with Justin in front, they saw what all the commotion was about. Something had crashed through a clothes store. The store's display window was destroyed. It was like a small explosion happened. Inside was the reason for the explosion. A destroyed motorcycle with smoke coming from it was laying there. It barely looked like a bike anymore. When Alex saw it she realized something.
"That must have been what I heard earlier." Alex said to herself looking at the destroyed bike.
Flashback
Alex didn't know what to do, all she could do was make sure nothing happened to Justin. She was scared from all the shaking and screaming, but mostly because of what was happing to Justin. She held Justin tightly to block anything that fell on him, but also to make her feel better. Between all the shouting and screaming she thought she heard an explosion, but she wasn't sure. All she wanted right now was for Justin to feel better.
Flashback
But why would there be motorcycle riding in a pedestrian street in the first place. Alex wondered.
Jerry, like the people in the crowd, just stared at the destruction. Alex noticed Justin had a weird look on his face as he stared at the ruined store. He was memorized by it, like he wasn't even there. She waved her had in front of his face, but he didn't even blink. Before she could do anything else to snap him out of it, she caught something at the corner of her eye. She quickly turned her head at a small alley at the other side of the street right across the wrecked store. She could have sworn she saw a person standing there, holding his arm like he was hurt.
"Come on guys let's go back and see if your mom got a hold of Max." Jerry said walking back to the sub station. The people began to leave as the police and ambulance arrived. Justin snapped out of his gaze and turned to Alex. He watched with curiosity as Alex walked towards a small alley at the other side of the street.
The alley was like any other, it had a few open dumpsters with garbage on the ground and a fire escape on the building to the right. Alex knew she saw someone here. She started to slowly walk into the alley, but stopped when she herd some noise coming from behind the dumpster. She slowly got closer. When she almost got a view of what was behind there, a cat jumped right in front of her, but what scared her was the lid of the dumpster that suddenly fell shut. She jumped back hitting someone behind her making her scream.
"Alex is just me." Justin said holding his hands up in the air.
"Justin don't do that!" She said out loud, hitting his chest. "You almost gave me a heart attack." She added while putting her hand on her heart.
"What are you doing here?" Justin asked raising his eyebrow and crossing his arms.
"I thought I saw someone here." She explained looking behind her into the alley again.
"Well now you know no one's here." He said looking at the empty alley.
"But I-" He cut her of. "Come on, we need to go back and see if Max is okay." He grabbed her wrist and pulled a reluctant Alex out of the alley.
Unknown to them a figure was sitting right behind the dumpster Alex was just looking at.
When he went through the portal, he wasn't expecting to land here. He thought he would land in the water, but ooooh how wrong he was. One minute he was about to get crushed by a huge wave and the next thing he knows he was riding through a small alley at full speed with a store at the end of it. He only had a few seconds to react. He jumped of right before he went out of the alley, landing roughly on the ground. When he stopped rolling he heard an explosion. He knew what it was, man he was starting to like that bike too. His body screamed to just stay there and pass out, but as much as he wanted to he had to know where he was. He laid there for a few minutes then stood up. He slowly walked to the end of the alley holding his arm and saw a crowd gathering around his destroyed bike. After a few moments he realized what this place was, but before he could think of anything else he froze when he saw three certain people walking towards the crowd.
A…A…Alex? d…dad?
After a few moments of staring at them, he quickly hid behind a dumpster as Alex looked at his way. He didn't know why he hid from her. He knew she was coming because of the sound of her foot steps. Every step she took made his heart go faster. He couldn't let her see him, not now. She was getting closer, he had to do something. Luckily a cat came by and jumped in front of her, but knew that wasn't going to be enough so he pushed the lid of the dumpster, making sure that she didn't see his hand. He was glad when she jumped back, but then became angry when she screamed. He didn't care how hurt he was, he was going to beat the crap out of who ever made her scream, but relaxed when he saw who it was. He heard their small conversation and wondered if something had happened to Max. Was he hurt? He didn't know, but he couldn't stay awake any longer. As he went into darkness, he could help, but smile.
He had actually made it. He actually made it to the past.
