A short oneshot I thought of randomly. But these two are so cute together!
Everybody was born with dark blue numbers on the inside of their right forearm. With each second that passed, the dark blue numbers would tick down, minute by minute. When the numbers reached zero, the person would meet their soulmate in the same second. After the soulmates made eye contact, the dark blue numbers would fade to light gray, and remain there for the rest of the person's life.
Kuroko stared down at his own arm. 00:03:16. It had been a long time since he'd last checked, so the short number surprised him. Three hours and sixteen minutes... he looked at the clock. Ten forty-six. He had a class at two, so did that mean he would meet his soulmate there?
Most people around him would obsessively look at their arm over and over again, as though staring at the dark blue numbers would magically make the numbers tick by faster. The last time Kuroko had checked, the numbers had read 09:5:23. He hadn't really cared that much. No matter how much attention he paid to the numbers, there would be no difference.
By the time he was at the door of his classroom, he had forgotten all about the countdown. As he opened the door and prepared to slip in, unnoticed, for the millionth time, someone walked past, and they collided.
Looking up, Kuroko prepared to apologize, but faltered. Blue eyes met red and gold, as he and the other person looked at each other.
And unnoticed by either of them, the numbers on their arms clicked to zero.
