HELLO EVERYONE! WELCOME TO THE NEW CHAPTER OF DEATHSTROKE: REBIRTH! IDK WHY I'M TYPING IN ALL CAPS. I'M JUST EXCITED TO GET THIS CHAPTER OUT. BUT IT MIGHT BE BECAUSE I'VE MADE IDEAS FOR THE SEQUEL ALL READY. WE'LL SEE LATER.

Chapter 9

-Konohagakure no Sato-

A haggard looking Team 7 was running through the forests. No sounds were made; silence was everywhere. Everyone was lost in their own thoughts, some saddened, some stupid and others were just insane.

Kakashi was thinking about how he'd break the news to the Sandaime. The Kami no Shinobi was a ruthless man on the battlefield and in politics, but when it came to his family, he was like everyone else; he broke down and cried. Whether it'd be in private or in his office, he didn't know. He was also hoping that Kushina and Minato, especially Kushina, weren't waiting for him in Kami's domain, ready to tear him a new one for letting their son die before he did.

He felt a cold shiver run up his spine as he felt a hand on his shoulder. He looked back and saw nothing, but he heard a voice that sounded familiar whisper in his ear, "Not on your life. I'll be waiting on you for getting my Sochi-kun killed."

Kakashi gulped audibly, noting how his students glanced at him slightly. Kakashi just nodded, his face returning to it's lazy quality.

Sakura was slightly green in the face. Her thoughts kept whirling around what Naruto must've felt in his last moments. She wondered if he was brave or if he felt fear like the baka that he was. She inwardly laughed at how he probably thought he was awesome, dying in a fire with the Sandaime Tsuchikage like that. But at least she finally got some alone time with her Sasuke-kun. That was all that mattered after all.

Said Uchiha on the other hand, well he as thinking about the strength that Naruto had. He was a fool, sacrificing himself like that. He had power and he could've used it. But now it'll be mine. I'll get the council to give me his house and all of his secrets. The Sandaime will be forced to give me Naruto's training.

He chuckled evilly after that, making Kakashi glance at him warily, ready to strike at a moments notice while Sakura looked at him with hearts in his eyes. The trees slowly began to give way to sunlight, and the Konoha team broke through the treeline, landing on the ground in a crouch.

They slowed their speed to a walk and walked through the gate. The Eternal Chunin, Izumo and Kotetsu looked at Kakashi and looked around, wondering where Naruto was. Kakashi's eye flashed briefly, and Izumo and Kotetsu's eyes widened at what they saw. Grief.

"Kakashi?" Kotetsu asked, his voice slightly breaking. "Where's Naruto-gaki?"

Kakashi closed his eye and nodded his head solemnly. "It's as you think guys. Can we come back in?"

Izumo nodded as he checked their papers and as the seemingly depressed Team 7 (with two of them faking saddness), they walked through the streets of Konoha. People noticed Team 7 back and there were murmurs among the populace. Sasuke and Sakura assumed they were about Sasuke's safe return. Kakashi's eye twitched when he noticed people whispering about the earnings they made with Naruto's death.

Kakashi turned to the remnants of Team 7, his voice hard and cold. "Return to your homes and write your reports on the matter. Have them to me by 1900hrs tonight. Be as thorough as you can and leave nothing out. Afterwards, you will report with me to Konoha Medical for a mental examination by a member of the Yamanaka clan. This is non-negotiable and will go on your records if you do not follow them. I'll be reporting to the Sandaime. Have a good day."

Sasuke scoffed as he looked at Kakashi. "You think you're going to order me, an Uchiha? I'm better than you you no life loser. I should be the one giving the orders and you should be the one taking them! I will do as I please and I refuse to go to a damn hospital for a mental exam!"

Kakashi punched Sasuke in the face, the boy's nose making an audible crack. People gasped at the display and began to circle around while Kakashi growled.

"I am sick and tired of you and your kami-damned insubordination!" Kakashi all but roared. "Your high and mighty attitude would get anyone that is put on this team killed and I won't allow it. It's my job as your sensei and commander to beat that out of you and if I have to do it right now in front of Konoha's populace, I will not hesitate to do so."

"Then do it you pathetic waste of space," Sasuke said as he popped his nose back into place.

"Kakashi," a voice said, halting Kakashi's sprint at the Uchiha. Kakashi turned and saw the Sandaime, his hat atop his head, smoking his pipe. One eye was clouded in shadow and Kakashi could see the warning in the Sandaime's eyes. "Do not beat your genin unless you've good reason to. Now where is Naruto-kun?"

Kakashi sighed as he bowed his head. "He died on the mission, in an explosion as he tried to stop Danzo-teme, Sandaime-sama."

Sasuke scoffed. "He probably screamed like a bitch and died like the fool he is. And if he survived, he's probably gonna get all of Konoha destroyed."

The Sandaime took a breath and dipped his head, taking his pipe from his mouth. "Kakashi?"

Kakashi looked at the Sandaime, an eyebrow raised behind his headband. "Hai, Hiruzen-sama?"

"Teach him a lesson. Full power authorized. Just don't kill him." With that, he walked away, placing his pipe in his mouth and his hands behind his back.

Kakashi nodded as he lifted his headband, the sharigan eye spinning wildly. Sasuke gasped and growled at such a revelation, thinking he stole the eye. Kakashi's eyes lost their lazy quality and his lips set in a thin line.

"How did you get that eye!" Sasuke growled in anger. "How dare you take what's mine!"

"I didn't steal anything Uchiha-gaki," Kakashi said as he looked at his wayward student. "It was a gift from a long dead teammate."

Sasuke began to retort, but as he did, his face contorted into a grimace of pain, and spit flew from his mouth. Kakashi's fist was buried in his gut, digging in and possibly rearranging organs.

I didn't even see him move! Sasuke thought in pain.

Kakashi's eye was narrowed, but not in laziness. There was a seriousness there that hadn't been seen since the last war. His reflexes, honed from years of battles and surviving to what counted as old age, he twisted his body into the air, kicking Sasuke in the head and launching him into a wall. The Uchiha growled as he landed and picked himself up, wiping the blood off of his lip.

"You really think a weak attack like that is going to affect me?" Sasuke said cockily.

"It knocked a few teeth loose Uchiha," Kakashi said, popping his neck. "Plus, who said anything about me being finished."

The Kakashi that Sasuke was speaking too popped in a puff of smoke and the real Kakashi rose from the ground, punching Sasuke in the chin. Kakashi did a back flip into a hand stand and kicked Sasuke in the chin and flipped forward as Sasuke rose slightly, punching him in the back into the ground. Kakashi raised a foot and stomped down, but Sasuke rolled out of the way in time.

Sasuke drew two kunai and threw them at Kakashi, quickly making handsigns. "Kage Kunai no Jutsu!"

Kakashi drew two kunai of his own, blocking them quickly and efficiently. He saw the Uchiha run at him and began a taijutsu battle. Punches and kickes were blocked on both sides, but Kakashi dealt more damage than he took, showing a testamony to his skill as he was currently fighting with his sharigan eye closed as Sasuke had his two tomoe activated.

Sasuke grabbed Kakashi's arm as he punched at the elite jounin and Kakashi blocked with the guard on his glove before making a palm and slamming it into the Uchiha's arm, making it numb. Kakashi stepped inside Sasuke's guard and elbowed him in the face and punched him in the stomach twice before finishing the combo with a kick to the chest, sending the boy skidding back and clutching his stomach with the exertion of the fight.

Kakashi shook his head and ran at the Uchiha. He began punching the Uchiha quickly, which the Uchiha managed to block until Kakashi began gradually increasing his speed. Soon, Sasuke couldn't block and only took punch after bone shattering punch. While Kakashi's punches didn't have the strength behind it that Gai's did, they were still powerful. Kakashi finished his assault with an uppercut that sent Sasuke off his feet before he landed on the ground.

When Sasuke landed, there was a puff of smoke and a battered Sakura was in Sasuke's place. Kakashi's eye narrowed as he looked around for Sasuke, his rage boiling. He heard a chirping noise behind him and turned, seeing Sasuke clutch his wrist with lightning shooting out of it in all directions. There was an evil glint in the young Uchiha's eye.

"Thanks Sakura," Sasuke said. "You provided an excellent punching bag to give me time to prepare this technique. Now Kakashi, I can use it against you and finally achieve my dreams of killing Itachi! CHIDORI!"

With that, he gave a Joker-esque laugh as he raced at his sensei, the technique creating a crater in the ground. Kakashi's eye narrowed to Yamamoto-like levels and he calmly stood there waiting. As Sasuke got within 15 feet of Kakashi, he did some quick handseals. Lightning chakra sparked in his hand in a faster fashion than Sasuke's; Kakashi raced forward, meeting Sasuke's charge head-on.

Kakashi's hand was pulled back, the lightning chakra's visibility creating a shadow across the visage of the elder Konoha-nin. Sasuke thrusted the Chidori towards Kakashi and Kakashi quickly opened his eye and dodged, the attack barely singing his mask, headband and hair.

Kakashi thrust his attack forward. "RAIKIRI!"

Sasuke substituted and blood splashed across Kakashi's face and his eyes widened in shock. The person thrust upon his arm whimpered in pain, a cry escaping their lips.

"Ka-kas-hi-sensei?" Sakura said as dripped from her lips.

Kakashi dropped his arm down and she fell off of him, her body making a squelching noise and her innards falling out slightly. Kakashi looked at his hand in shock and barely registered the chirping bird noise he heard before he dodged out of the way. He growled as he saw the Chidori that was meant for him slam into Sakura's chest, ending her suffering. Kakashi's sharigan quickly morphed, changing from a single shuriken, to two spinning in opposite directions.

He felt a surge of energy in his chakra coils and quickly did the handsigns for a Raikiri, making one that was larger than the normal one he used.

"Sensei, you wanna know how I learned your technique?"

Kakashi's eye narrowed.

"Well I was watching you train one day after Itachi killed my clanmates, and I noticed how I understood the inner workings of your jutsu. Without realizing it, I'd activated my sharigan. Yours was the first jutsu I stole and I plan on taking many more."

Kakashi didn't give him the luxury of an answer, but read Sasuke his rights. "Uchiha Sasuke, Genin of Konohagakure no Sato, for the murder of Haruno Sakura, Genin of Konohagakure no Sato and attacking me with the intent to kill, you will forfeit your life. Do you understand this?"

Sasuke laughed as black, flamelike markings appeared on the left side of his face. He laughed as he pumped chakra into his chidori and it quickly turned black and got louder.

"You really think with the power that I have that you'll be able to take me alive?" he asked cockily.

"You have the Cursed Seal of Heaven, a seal derived from Orochimaru's twisted head Sasuke," Kakashi said. "The only thing that does is make you a slave. But I have passed judgement on you for murder. Your sentence, is death!"

Kakashi ran at Sasuke, his Raikiri sparking and creating multiple gashes in the ground. Sasuke tried dodging the attack, while thrusting his Chidori at Kakashi's head, but Kakashi ducked, elbowed the boy in the stomach and stabbed him in the chest. Sasuke smirked and he turned into a civilian, all ready dying.

Kakashi searched around with his senses, not finding Sasuke in the immediate area. He flared his chakra and ANBU and chunin who weren't all ready in the area appeared, bowed for whatever reason.

"Sasuke Uchiha has caused the deaths of a Konoha genin and civilian. Find him while I report this to the Hokage!"

All nodded and disappeared. Kakashi quickly shunshined to the Hokage's office. The Sandaime looked at Kakashi.

"I saw it all. As of this moment, he is declared a C-ranked nukenin. I want his head on a platter and his body and eyes destroyed when he is found," the Sandaime ground out.

"And what of Naruto, sir?" Kakashi asked.

"God help him," the Sandaime said. "And you need to stay awhile because we need to talk Hatake-san."

So this was obviously a filler chapter. But it's to set up the story for later or even possible sequels. Hope you enjoyed it.
