Changing the point of view also so let's see how that goes.
DISCLAIMER: I DO NOT OWN THE LEGEND OF KORRA
"I think Bolin got himself into a mess that I'm going to have to get him out of."
"Mako," Korra sat down beside him," What's going on?"
"Bolin has a knack for getting into stupid situations," he sighs and gets ready to leave," See you later."
Korra grabbed his wrist before he even turned the door knob," I, um, could help you look for him ya know."
"Nah, I got it."
"Hey, cool guy, let me help you," she put on a small smile and grabbed her sweater," Like someone once told me, maybe people should quit being so stubborn and accept the help when needed."
Mako stood there a little stunned. Here stood a girl who hadn't even known the brothers for that long, yet she was willing to help him search for Bolin. For a stubborn, annoying girl she had a good heart. He snapped out of his daze and smirked.
"Alright, but don't get into any trouble while we're at it."
She gave him a wink and shoved him out the door and into the car, "So, can I ask you something?"
"Shoot."
"What was that you said about Triple Threat Triads?"
Korra had heard about the Triad from her father. She had also heard about the other gangs here in Republic City. She noticed that he didn't respond and looked over at his face. A tight line formed on his lips, his brows furrowed together.
"I, um, sorry for asking. You don't have to tell me. I know I'm still sort of a stranger," he chuckled, which confused her.
"You're not a stranger, Korra. We've passed that line now."
They were silent for most of the ride. No other sound but the rev of the engine and low sound of the music from the radio. There was the occasional glance here and there until a phone call broke the silence. Mako looked at his phone with an irritated look and picked it up.
"Alright, tell me what you know Skoochy… Yeah, you'll get it tomorrow just tell me what I need to know… Sounds like there's a turf war brewing and Bolin's about to get caught right in the middle of it. Can't you just tell me where?"
He gripped his phone and flung it into the cup holder, causing Korra to jump a little. Korra could hear him mutter a few things under his breath clearly enraged. She tried to find something to say, something that could help comfort the brother, but she was at a loss for words. She lost her train of thought as Mako took a sharp turn, making Korra slam into the door.
Mako looked at her apologetically, "Sorry, really sorry. I just got a hint from… an old friend of mine. I think I might know where he may be."
-AN ABANDONED BUILDING NEAR THE OUTSKIRTS OF THE CITY-
"Where are we?" Korra asked as she looked at the rundown building in front of her.
"Triple Threat Triad Headquarters."
He remembered the last time he was here, the memories that this place held for him and his brother, and the reasons why they resorted to such level. He was snapped out of his thoughts when Korra placed a hand on his shoulder.
"We'll find him."
"Something's not right," he cautiously approaches the door," There're usually thugs posted out front. We better be cautious."
He presses his back against the walls and slinks into the shadows. Although, Korra isn't as cautious as Mako, and takes matters into her own hands. She casually walks towards the doors and kicks it down. Mako pokes his head out with a stunned look on his face. They enter the building only to find it empty, broken furniture lying everywhere. They spot something moving around under the rubble and out pops out a Fire Ferret's head.
"Pabu!" the little Fire Ferret scurries over to Mako's side and onto his head," This is Bolin's little pet! He must have been here!"
They hear a truck engine roar outside and run out to see who it was. Just as they arrived outside they were able to see a truck and a few motorcycles getting ready to drive off. Masked individuals surrounded the truck, guarding it. Inside the truck they spotted him.
"Bolin!"
They ran back to the car and sped out to the side of the building, beginning their pursuit on the unknown vehicles. Two of the masked motorcyclists looked behind their backs and threw small grenades which produced a screen of green smoke to throw them off. Of course, that wouldn't be enough to stop them. Mako rolled down his window and sent a blast of fire their way, but they avoided it. Korra gathers water from a nearby puddle and tried to water whip them but they swerved in the other direction.
The motorcyclists stop and hop off the motorcycles. Mako and Korra stepped out of the car and stood in their fighting stances. Each flipped into in the air and landing on opposite sides of Mako and Korra. Korra begins to water whip her opponent they elegantly dodge each one and flip over her. Korra left an opening on her right side and gave her opponent the chance to punch her in various spots on her side. She staggers back, her right side numb. Korra was able to tie a water whip around their legs but they escaped from her clutches and punched her several times on her left and back side while distracted. Korra tries to hit them with another water attack but nothing happens. While she is off guard, her opponent kicks her straight in the chest sending her flying in the air and crashing hard onto the ground. Mako soon joins her on the ground, clutching his right arm as the motorcyclists got away.
Korra stands up, brushes herself off, and takes another attempt at trying to bend," I can't bend!"
"Calm down, it'll wear off. Those guys were chi blockers. They're Amon's henchman."
"Amon? The anti-bending guy?"
"Yeah, he's the leader of the Equalists."
"What do they want with the Triple Threats?"
"Whatever it is," he starts up the car," It can't be good. I can't believe Bolin got himself into this mess!"
Korra steps into the car and lays a hand on his shoulder," Mako, we are going to save your brother. I promise you that."
They spent the next few hours driving around trying to look for him with no luck. Soon Korra began to doze off and fell asleep. Mako took notice after he she didn't answer his question. He took a look at the time, 2:34.
It was pretty late and it was too late to take her home. He could take her to his house, it only seemed like the better choice and he was getting pretty tired himself. He took a turn and headed home. When they arrived he tried waking her up but she would only stir in her sleep so he had to carry her inside. He noticed the lights were on and took one guess, Uncle Narook. He shouldn't have stayed up.
There to greet him at the door was, sure enough, his Uncle.
"I see you brought a guest over," he looked behind Mako's back to see if he was there. Mako sadly shook his head, his Uncle's face fell in disbelief," Take her up to Bolin's room. Poor girl looks tuckered out."
Mako did as he was told and took her to his room. When he tried to put here down on the bed she would only cling to him more, snuggling into his chest. He to admit, it was actually pretty cute. After setting her down he woke her up and handed her one of t-shirts and gym shorts to wear. From what he could tell she was awake, barely enough to realize what was going on but enough to move. He left the room for a few minutes and knocked on the door to see if she was done. When he heard no answer he went in to find her changed and back to sleep. He went back into the living room with his Uncle. They sat there in silence.
"I'm sorry," was all Mako could say.
"What?"
"I'm sorry, Uncle Narook. I should've kept a better look out for Bolin. I failed in finding him too," he dug his head into his hands. How could he have lost his brother, his only brother? He felt a hand fall on his shoulder.
"It isn't your fault, Mako. You couldn't have known about what Bolin was planning on doing. You tried your best to find him. That's what matters," he patted him on the back and took a sip of his water," I see you had a partner to help you."
Mako smiled," Yeah, she insisted on helping me. Even if I had said no she would've come either way."
His Uncle chuckled taking another sip of water," A good heart that girl has, willing to help anyone in need."
"Even she won't accept any help for herself," his Uncle looked at him confused," It's another story for another day. Uncle Narook… Amon has Bolin."
"What?!"
"We found his henchman taking him away along with the rest of the Triple Threats. We would've caught up to them if two of his goons hadn't fought us off."
"Well, all we can do is pray to the Spirits and hope we find Bolin safe and sound," he stood up and washed his cup," Go to sleep, boy, it's not good for you to stay up so late."
Mako walked back to his room, checking up on Korra before he did. He changed into some gym shorts and a shirt. He took off the hidden garment he had under his shirt, wrapping his fingers around the red fabric. He gently laid it on his nightstand and drifted off.
-NEXT MORNING-
Korra woke up from the suns bright rays. She rubbed her eyes and stretched out when she noticed where she was and what she was wearing.
"How did I get here?"
She stepped out of the bed and slowly walked out into the hallways and walked downstairs to be welcomed to the delicious aroma of eggs and sausage.
"About time you woke up Sleeping Beauty," Narook welcomed her," Come, grab a plate and eat. You must be starved after what you went through yesterday."
"How―"
"It was very late when Mako carried you in. I see he let borrow some of his clothes as well," he noticed the slight blush appearing on his face," You don't have to worry about your parents. I called your father last night to tell them about your heroic doings. Tonraq's an old friend of mine actually."
"Really? My dad never told me that he knew you Narook."
"Please, call me Uncle Narook. That's what everyone who knows calls me," he grinned.
"Well, Uncle Narook, this food is pretty delicious," she said as took another bite.
"Well, thank you very much. Now if you don't mind I'll be off to the restaurant now. Don't worry about working today. I got some other regulars doing me favor. Y'all have a good day now," he waved goodbye before heading out.
Narook's a good man. How does Dad even know him though?
Her thoughts were soon interrupted when she heard footsteps coming down the stairs.
"Good morning, Sunshine," Korra smirked as Mako tried fixing his hair.
"Good morning to you too, bed head," she hadn't even noticed that her ponytail was now flopped over to the side, her hair standing out. Her cheeks began to heat up a little, Mako took notice," Don't worry, I've seen Bolin's bed head. Has my Uncle Narook left already?"
"Yeah, said not to worry about working today. Um, thanks for the change in clothes."
"No problem," he took a bite of his eggs and looked over at her while she washed her plate.
Even when her hair is flopped to the side and she's in a t-shirt and shorts she looks beautiful. Wait, did he really just think that? What was he thinking? Why was he thinking? Where did that even come from? He shook his head and finished the last bit of his food.
"Well, time to continue on with our search."
