I hope you guys are liking the story so far. I know it might be going a little fast and it's not so detailed but as long as you enjoy it. I'll also try to make the chapters longer. I feel like they're a little short. I'm trying to work on this story, another Makorra story, and unfortunately I have another idea in my head. Anyways voting will close after this chapter because Asami and Iroh will be making an appearance soon! I know it's a little early for Iroh to come in since I'm following the original plot, but don't worry! Let's go on to the story then.

Mako and Bolin took a seat across from Tonraq and their Uncle Narook, waiting with anticipation.

"As you may or may not know yet, we were originally in the South Pole before we came here. Most people believe we moved here because of a job transfer, but really that was only a cover up. Once Avatar Aang died the White Lotus began a search for the next Avatar in the water tribes. Korra's mother and I grew worried for Korra's well being after hearing that the White Lotus would take the child away to their compund for training and "protection". Our worries were put at ease seeing as Korra showed no signs of being the next Avatar until she reached the age of three. She was playing around in the kitchen when her mother saw her begin to lift rocks up from the ground, something only an earth bender is capable of doing. Soon after she melted away any snow around her, actions of a fire bender. We had to accept the fact that our little girl was the next Avatar," Tonraq took a deep breath and sip of water before continuing his story," Our worries came back. We didn't want Korra to go off to some compound for who knows how many years. We had to find a way to prevent Korra about finding out about her special abilities. We went to the only person we could confide in and that boys was your Uncle Narook here."

"You and Uncle Narook were friends back then?" Bolin asked.

"Yes we were and we still are. Been friends since he arrived at the South Pole," Narook grinned and gave him a light slap on the back.

Tonraq chuckled," Old man was a good man. We could trust him with anything which is why we went to him. We weren't sure how to stop Korra from discovering any further knowledge about her bending. Your Uncle suggested we visit an old relative of his, a sorceress to put it lightly. We're not sure what she did but she was able to block the other three elements and wipe away any memory involving them. Since then things went back to normal until the Water Tribe received news about Amon. It was said that he was planning an attack in search of the Avatar so I made up the story of a job transfer to flee here in Republic City. We got word from the Water Tribe that there was never an attack. After putting pieces of the puzzle together we realized it was only a plan to get the Avatar closer to him and find out their whereabouts. How he ever found out that the Avatar was here baffles me to this day. Now he's got Korra captive."

"He must've done it to see who would end up leaving the Water Tribes. Maybe he had some spies back in the Water Tribes taking record of who left" Narook added in.

After hearing this story the boys were left stunned. Their friend, Korra Martinez, was the lost Avatar. Not only that but their Uncle himself knew about everything. It got very quiet in the restaurant. Mako's mind then began to wander off to earlier today when Korra ran away.

Mako broke the silence," Mr. Tonraq, sir, you said the sorceress somehow blocked the other elements, right?"

"That's correct?" he answered suspiciously.

"Well, earlier today after lunch I noticed something. Korra had sneezed and when I turned around she wasn't there anymore, she had ran off. Her books were on the floor singed on the edges. I'm not sure if I explained that right, but do you think maybe... the other elements are starting to resurface?" after hearing their story it all made sense. How else would her books be burnt? They were the only ones outside and their is such a trick of sneezing and fire bending together.

Tonraq thought about it for a moment," It's a strong possibilty. Have you seen her show any signs of earth or air bending?"

He shook his head. Bolin hadn't said a word, he was too busy thinking about another problem. If Korra didn't know about the other elements and Amon wasn't sure who the Avatar was, how did he find it was Korra in the first place?

"One of Amon's henchmen is working undercover at the school!" Bolin blurted out, startling everyone.

"What are you talking about, Bolin?" Narook asked.

"Think about it. Neither Korra nor Amon knew that she was the Avatar so how did he even find out about it? The only way that could of happened is if someone wittnessed what happened outside today, right?" they glanced at one another. Is it possible the enemy has been amongst them the whole time," It either has to be a faculty member or a student."

Narook took a deep breath and sunk deeper into his chair," I'm getting too old for this. So much new information to take in."

Tonraq chuckled," You've got a few years left in you, Narook."

"Tell that to my back."

Suddenly, there was a loud ringing noise throughout the room. Tonraq reached into his pocket and excused himself from the table to answer the phone call outside leaving the other three alone. There were so many questions the two wanted to ask, but now was not the time to ask them all. Their brains were on overdrive trying to process all the information that has been given to them. Tonraq came back into the room and grabbed his keys.

"My men weren't able to locate Korra, but they were able to catch an Equalist. They've been taken in for questioning. You all are welcome to come along."

They nodded and followed him to the police station. They arrived and entered the building. Officers were going in and out of the building reporting to their commanding officers. When they saw Tonraq they saluted him and carried on with their business. They were led to a room with three more officers and a large window. On the other side of the glass was the Equalist and the Chief of Police, Lin Beifong.

"Chief Tonraq, sir!" the three officers saluted.

"How's the questioning going?" he looked over at Beifong and the Equalist. She was giving him quite the menancing look and under the mask there was most likely a scared man.

"She's been questioning him for fifteen minutes but still no answer."

"I see. I'll be right back," Tonraq left the room and appeared in the interrogation room. He nodded over at Chief Beifong and as if they had communicated without any spoken words, she nodded back.

Once they heard the light static of the intercom come on they paid close attention to the questioning,"Well, since you won't talk to me let me introduce you to my friend here. This is Chief Tonraq Martinez, otherwise known as the father of Korra Martinez. The girl you and the rest of Amon's henchmen captured."

"Nice to finally meet one of the men who took my daughter away from me," Tonraq's voice was so deep and menancing it made the hair on the back of the boys neck stand up," I was told you didn't want to tell my comrade where she is being held at. Let me take this mask off and take a good look at you."

The Equalist didn't bother to put a fight when Tonraq took the mask off. Instead of it being an older man like they expected he turned out to be a boy who looked around Mako and Bolin's age. His pierecing green eyes glared at both officers. Everyone was a bit taken aback. Tonraq glanced over at Beifong and she stepped up to the table.

"Tell me, kid, why are you involved with Amon's plans? You're still so young. You could have had a bright future ahead of you," his facial expression didn't change and they were growing frustrated.

"What's your name?" again no answer," Look here, son, if you tell us where she is it will help get you a more lenient sentence."

The boy only looked at them, not a single word escaped his mouth. They spent the next ten minutes trying to get him to answer one question, but failed. On the otherside of the glass Mako and Bolin were becoming more frustrated than the other two. Just the fact that Tonraq could keep his cool in front of him was amazing. Mako left the room, Bolin following in pursuit while their Uncle just watched. There was a knock at the other door and Tonraq answered. You could hear bits and pieces of the conversation, but barely enough to make out what they were talking about. Tonraq called Beifong over and they went outside. The next thing Narook and the officers see are Mako and Bolin walking into the room. Tonraq and Beifong enter the other room and order the other officers to leave.

"What are they doing?" Narook asked in confusion.

"Your nephews are very persuasive, Narook. Very stubborn as well," Beifong smirked," You'll just have to see for yourself."

Bolin sat down in the chair in front of the boy while a

Mako walked over to him. Bolin leaned over the table and started playing with the buttons on his shirt," Dude, you realize the faster you answer these questions the faster you can get out of here."

The boy chuckled," They couldn't crack me themselves so they send in a pair of guys my age to scare me?"

Bolin glanced at him," Well, you're talking to us now aren't you?"

The smirk on his face quickly disappeared. Mako leaned in," Tell us where they are keeping Korra."

"Yeah, right."

"You don't want to test my brother's patience, man. He's got a really short temper," Bolin warned him.

"What's he going to do to me? He can't hurt me," he laughed.

Mako grabbed him by the collar and shoved him up against the wall," Don't fucking test me."

"Come on, Mako, don't be too rough on him. Give the guy a chance," Narook finally realized what they were doing. I guess watching TV pays off after all.

"He's had enough chances to last a lifetime," Mako growled," Talk!"

The boy backed his face away from Mako's," You can't hurt me so why should I talk?"

"Because the minute I find out you're out of jail you can believe that I will find you. Once I find you I'm going to make you wish you were back in your jail cell protected by the bars," he threw him down onto the floor and got his hands warmed up.

"I could call him off if you would just tell us where she's at," Bolin casually leaned over the table as he just looked at the boy on the floor.

"You've got ten seconds," he noticed the flames in Mako's hands began to grow bigger and bigger.

"You can't hurt me! You'll go to jail!"

"Yeah, well so will you and I can make your life a living hell while I'm there!"

"Six seconds, dude, come on. Tell us and I'll call my brother off," no answer just glares," Five."

Mako continued the countdown," Four. Three. Two. One!"

Before Mako could strike he put his hands up defensively and shouted," Stop! Stop! They're keeping her over at Aang Memorial Island!"

The flames died down and the brothers left the room. Bolin peeked back into the room with a cheesy grin," Thank you for your cooperation, man. Pleasure doing business with ya."

"Nice job, boys. I was beginning to have my doubts about your good cop, bad cop game," Tonraq dispatched a team of officers to Aang Memorial Island.

"You two should think about joining the force after you finish school," they looked at Beifong in surprise. Was this a sort of compliment coming from the oh-so-serious Beifong.

"Um, t-thank you, Chief Beifong," Mako stuttered.

"The team is on their way to Aang Memorial Island. We should get going. Thank you for help boys, but we can take it from here."

"Wait, we want to come along!" Bolin shouted.

"It's too risky not to mention too dangerous," Tonraq appreciated their help, but a mission like this wasn't fit for two young boys.

Narook placed a hand on each of their shoulders," I'm afraid I have to agree with Tonraq. Amon is a very dangerous man."

"But Uncle!" the two protested.

"I'm sorry but no is no."

The two opened their mouths to speak but decided against it. There was no point in arguing during such a crucial time. Tonraq and Beifong gave them their thanks and joined the rest of the taskforce.

Korra awoke from her unconscious state. Her head was pounding, her body felt weak, and she was covered in sweat. She tried to move but she was unable to. Her arms and legs were tied up. She blinked her eyes a few times to get a clear look at her surroundings. There wasn't much to see except for the four walls around here and two Equalists in front of her.

'What happened?'

/FLASHBACK/

Korra and Bolin were on their way to the docks but made a quick stop to a hot dog stand close by.

"Bolin, how many hot dogs did you order?" Korra asked, looking at hot dog vendor as he piled on every topping onto four hot dogs.

"Just four. I'm a growing boy!" he grinned as he paid the vendor," Thank you, sir."

Korra picked up her hot dog and took a small bite out of it," Growing boy, huh? Don't scarf down those things too fast or you'll end up getting sick again." By the time she finished her sentence he had already ate one and a half of them.

"Can't blame me for being hungry."

"When aren't you hungry, Bolin?" she giggled. Before she could take another bite out of her hot dog someone knocked it out of her hand," Hey!"

"Don't you know not to waste a perfectly good hot dog?" Bolin's eyes met with the mask of an Equalist,"Oh... Hello there."

"We've come for the Avatar," one of them claimed as he got his electrified kali sticks ready.

"Well, I've got some bad news for you, but we don't know where the Avatar is," Korra took two steps back and readied herself in a fighting stance.

"Oh, I'm sure you do. She's a lot closer than you think."

"Bolin."

"Right," Bolin put a rock wall in between them and Equalists so the two could make an escape.

Careful not to knock into or hurt any pedestrians, Korra and Bolin made a run for it while the Equalists were distracted. The wall could only give them a few seconds to get away from them before they were back to chasing them.

"Why are they even after us?" Bolin asked as he zigzagged his way through the crowded street," We don't even know who the Avatar is!"

"I beg to differ," the Equalists landed in front of him and hit Bolin in the side," If you just give her to us we could avoid this whole thing."

Korra gathered up some water and tied a whip around his ankle. She pulled on the whip and knocked him onto the ground. She grabbed Bolin's wrist and led them to an alleyway. After they knew that they lost the Equalists they stopped to take a breather.

"I... What do we do now?" Bolin panted.

Korra leaned against the wall, holding her chest," We can't lead them back to the restaurant."

"Don't worry, you won't have to," the Equalist struck both her sides with the kali sticks making her fall unconscious.

"Korra!" Bolin reached out to her but soon sunk into a world of darkness.

/END FLASHBACK/

"Right."

"Boss, she's awake," she heard a male voice say.

"Good," Korra picked up her heard. That voice was so familiar. The one that has been haunting her dreams for the past two weeks. He came into view and there looking at her was the masked man himself," Nice to see you awake, Avatar."

"Amon. What do you want with me?" her words we barely audible. There wasn't much energy left in her to start a full on argument.

"Don't toy with me, girl. I know you're the Avatar," he took a few steps closer to her and grabbed her face," There's no point in hiding it anymore."

She tried to pull away but failed," I don't know what you're talking about."

He looked her straight in the eyes and let go. The tension in the room grew stronger. He raised his hand as if he were about to take her bending away.

Korra closed her eyes tight,'This is it. A nightmare come true.'

"Amon!" that voice. Why did it sound so familiar?" We know you're in there!" 'Could it be?'

Amon's arm dropped to his side," Looks like Daddy came to the rescue."

"Want us to take care of 'em?" the Equalist asked.

"No," he stroked Korra's cheek, sending chills down her back," She'll be the perfect messenger to tell the city what I am capable of. To tell the city that I am not afraid of the Avatar. Move out!"

They all ran out of the room leaving Korra there to pass out once more.

The next time Korra opened her eyes she found herself lying in a hospital bed. She still felt weak but she forced herself up anyways. She rubbed her eyes and realized she was in the room alone. She tried to remember what happened and cringed at the thoughts that came back to her. She touched her cheek and rubbed it as hard as she could.

"Korra?" she stopped and looked to see who had entered the room," Mako?"

"You're awake. Why are you sitting up? You should be resting," he placed the glass of water he had in his hand on the table and tried to lay her back down," You've been through some tough shit."

She laughed," What a way to put it."

He smiled and sat down beside her on the bed," Just speaking the truth. You want some water?"

She nodded. He handed her the glass and she chugged it down in a heartbeat. It was silent for the next few minutes until Mako built up the courage to ask," Your nightmares about Amon is the reason you've been so jumpy and hostile lately hasn't it?"

She couldn't deny it any longer. Everyone was going to find out sooner or later. The tears welled up in her eyes, ready to fall down her face. She embraced Mako and started crying into his chest," I- I was terrified. I felt so helpless."

Mako, taken aback by the action, gently wrapped his arma around her and clumsily stroked her hair trying to comfort her. He never really knew how to deal with a girl in such a broken state, but he acted on instincts," It's ok. The nightmares over now. Did- Did he take your bending away?"

She shook her head and he sighed in relief," I-I didn't want to admit it... admit how scared I really was of him after seeing what he could do."

"It's ok. It's over now, it's over."

DUN DUN! How did that go? Still too fast? I know I left some things hanging like the whole Avatar thing but don't worry thats coming up next. Don't forget to vote. Voting closes after this. Don't forget to review! Tell me what needs improving, what sounds, any suggestions you have. Until next time.
