Chapter 10

the material world

Hara and Grimmjow stood on a rooftop, staring out at Karakura town. There was light coming from the crescent moon, and it made Hara smile. She turned to Grimmjow,

"How come you told them to come here in two hours if we were leaving now?" He smiled,

"So you could do whatever you wanted, before we have to fight." Hara smiled at him,

"Aww, that's sweet of you," she said as she kissed his cheek lightly. He stared at her happily,

"So what do you want to go and do?" Hara turned and looked down on the city, in the distance she could make out the flashing lights of a fair. She smiled and turned around to face Grimmjow,

"Let's go there!" she said, pointing. Grimmjow looked and then stared at her, a grin on his face.

"As you command." he laughed. The two of them leapt from rooftop to rooftop, unseen by any normal human who happened to look outside.

the fairgrounds

"It's so noisy!" said Grimmjow as he followed Hara through the fair, she laughed,

"Of course it is!" A roller coaster caught her eye; she stared up at it, her eyes wide and exited. Grimmjow caught up to her and looked at the mechanical monster before them, "Hey Grimmjow, have you ever been on one of these?!" she asked over the screams of the people who were presently going down a steep drop.

"No! What is it?!" he yelled back. Hara turned and grinned,

"Come on, I'll show you!" She grabbed his hand and dragged him over the fence. Because they were invisible to human eyes, there were no lines they had to stand through. Hara led Grimmjow onto the platform, where they waited for the next roller coaster car to pull up. After a minute wait, one did. She pushed him into a seat, and sat down next to him.

"Ready?" she asked as she pulled down the safety bar. He shrugged,

"Sure." As he said it, the car started and away they went up the first big hill.

Hara leaned against Grimmjow's side, wondering how he would react to the ride. He looked down at her,

"This isn't so bad-" as he said it, they reached the crest of the hill. It was a big drop, a very, very big drop. Grimmjow shut his mouth and stared in surprise. Hara held even tighter to him. They began to tip forwards slowly,

"Hold on tight!" yelled Hara. Grimmjow did just that, not knowing what he had let her lead him into. They suddenly zoomed down the drop at an enormous speed. Hara screamed and Grimmjow yelled, both clinging tight to each other and the safety bar. They did a few flips, sharp turns and one more drop before they returned to the boarding platform. Grimmjow led Hara off, her legs shaking slightly.

"That was fun!" he cried enthusiastically, he had enjoyed it greatly. Hara smiled at him,

"I thought you'd like that." she clung to his side as they walked down the crowded walkway.

"Where to next?" A small stand caught her eye,

"Ooh let's check that out!" she said pointing. He nodded and led her over to it, his arm around her shoulders. It was some sort of food stand, making a strange pink material on a stick. Grimmjow had no idea what it was. Hara seemed to, and when no one was watching, pinched a handful of it out from the machine. She hopped over to Grimmjow,

"Its cotton candy!" she said cheerfully. He stared at the pink material in her outstretched hand.

"You eat it?" he asked. She nodded,

"Yep," and pinched a piece off and ate it to show.

"Mmm!" she said her eyes closed. She swallowed and stared at Grimmjow,

"You said you don't need to eat usual food…but can you eat it if you wanted to?" He nodded,

"Yeah…" Hara pinched off another piece of the cotton candy,

"Here, try it." she said putting the piece to his lips. He took it and ate it. Grimmjow's eyes widened and he choked on it a bit,

"Its sweet." he managed to say. Hara laughed,

"Well yeah, it's made of sugar." He smiled at her and took another bite, "Do you like it?" she asked. He nodded,

"Yeah…it's different." Hara laughed delightedly and dragged him to the next ride, a spinning wheel like contraption. They rode it, and Grimmjow came off a bit dizzy. Hara laughed as he nearly fell

over as they left for the next ride. He glared at her and then laughed too.

They went on a few rides more, and then swiped some food from the area of food stands. Afterwards, they went back to the roof top, where they lay staring up at the stars. Hara smiled and looked at Grimmjow,

"Thanks Grimmjow, I had a great time. I haven't had that much fun in ages." He grinned,

"No prob." he sat up, "I've never done anything like that before. It's not like Aizen lets us arrancar stroll around the material world, doing as we please." Hara laughed,

"Aizen's not the fun type." Grimmjow laughed too. Hara sat up, "So, they should be coming soon, right?" He nodded,

"Any minute now." Hara turned to look at him,

"Be careful, okay?" she said. Grimmjow stared at her,

"What do you mean 'be careful'? He's weak! I could take him out with one cero blast!" he protested heatedly. Hara put up her hand to silence him,

"I know." she said, "I just have a bad feeling."

They were silent for a few minutes, before they both felt the presence of the five numeros as they approached. Grimmjow's expression was calm,

"Ready?" he asked. He stood up, so did Hara. "You didn't let anyone see you, right?" he asked. The tall one, Shawlong shook his head,

"Of course not." he stared at Hara and Grimmjow, "Although in coming here, I couldn't help noticing some very powerful spirit pressures." The arrancar around him nodded. Grimmjow frowned, his hands in his pockets.

"Tch! Turn up your peskis to full throttle!" Hara remembered that peskis were a skill that added extra sensitivity to nerves to increase the scope in which spiritual pressures could be felt. It was an arrancar only trait. Nevertheless, she did the same, only using her own powers of detection instead.

There were eight. Hara turned to Grimmjow, his eyes were closed, one hand to his temple.

"I knew it. The signals are multiplying like crazy!" He grimaced, "I bet they even went so far as to call in some replacements from soul society." Grimmjow looked at his men, "Well it looks like we got our work cut out for us. Like I said, killing them ASAP would have been the best plan of action." He stared out at the city, "This is why I say you're full of it, Ulquiorra!"

Grimmjow glanced at them, "Don't hold back. Don't even bother distinguishing one from another. It doesn't even matter if they have a miniscule amount of spiritual power…I don't want you to leave a single one of them standing! We're going to kill them all!" His expression was fierce, angry. The numeros cheered in answer, and Hara walked towards Grimmjow, wishing to stay with him. He glanced at her, and then at his numeros.

"All right guys, you ready to go and get them?" All answered, making Grimmjow smile. "Let's rock." Hara held back a laugh, "I don't want you to even let one of them get away!" In a flash, all the arrancar shot off in different directions, all aiming for their target. Grimmjow turned to Hara,

"You gonna fight too?" he asked. Hara shrugged,

"Only if I have to, I'm just along for the ride." He shrugged in response,

"Suit yourself. Either way…" he looked towards the way D. Roy had gone, "Ichigo Kurosaki will die!"
