Saix gazed at the occupant of the stasis chamber with intense disapproval.

"This is not a good idea," he said flatly. Vexen gave a weary shrug.

"Superior ordered it. After the relative success of Nise, he insisted I start Phase Two."

Saix raised an eyebrow, "Nise?"

"Short for 'Nisemono'," the Chilly Academic clarified. "We had to choose another name, both because Xemnas became concerned that constantly using the name 'Riku' would trigger unwanted memories in the Keyblade Bearer and because the copy himself developed enough of a separate identity from the original that he wanted his own name."

Saix turned back to the stasis chamber with a derisive snort. He could care less about Vexen's little pet. What concerned him now was this…thing. "And Xemnas expects me to be responsible for this…creature?" he growled with distaste.

"Girl," Vexen corrected. "It's a girl, VII."

"Are you sure about that?" the Diviner sneered nastily.

"As sure as I am you are male," was the cold reply. Saix shot the scientist a dangerous glare. "Our own existence and form are, at best, only fractionally more stable than hers. As she gains experiences and memories of her own she will become more real. Just like every single one of us. She just has further to go."

Saix sighed and pushed a strand of hair out of his face. "And this is the best you can do?"

"Yes," he replied icily. "This is the best I can do and still have her be a blank slate. I'm working from even less than the bare minimum as it is. If I had the original I could do better but all I have are the scraps that were left at Castle Oblivion."

Number VII folded his arms. "Very well. Open it."

Vexen tapped the command into the control program. "Saix, do try to remember that this is supposed to be an honor. And that, initially at least, the materials are delicate."

Yes, he did remember, and the memory only made his frown deepen. "I understand that. What I fail to understand is why."

"Because," Vexen watched carefully as an existence so fragile a Dusk had more substance opened her eyes, her first view of the world containing the intimidating visage of the Lunar Diviner.

"There has to be three."
