Austin's POV
It's like being set on fire. The sickly sweet smell of something close by caught my attention.
Probably my burning flesh.
Or at least, it feels that way.
I try to scream, but am met with warmth over my lips, preventing my sound from escaping. I need saving, that's for sure.
I began to squirm against the embrace surrounding my body. My breathing picks up, this hurts worse than anything I'd ever felt in my life.
My eyes flutter open and are met with Ally's chocolate brown eyes.
My eyes widen, as my eyes meet with Ethan's, kneeling beside her.
The scent is coming from him.
I struggle against Ally, a throbbing in my throat I hadn't noticed intensifying.
She holds me down even tighter.
"Austin, please forgive me." She whispers, her eyes twinkling with fresh tears.
I relax at her expression. She's been crying.
"If I move my hand, promise me you won't scream…" She pauses, glancing back at Ethan. "I know it's hard, I know it hurts, but we're still in Whitechapel, and Jesse could be close by."
I take a huge gulp as she moves her hand away, holding down the scream in my throat.
I'm burning.
I close my eyes momentarily, and open my mouth to speak, hoping it may dull the pain.
"Ally what's going on…Why does Ethan smell-" I pause, licking my lips as the sweet scent hits me again.
"Austin…I turned you." She says slowly, a stray tear falling across her cheek.
Turned me? TURNED ME?!
"I'm a vampire?!" My voice rises, my breathing picking up once more. Suddenly the burning sensation picks up in my throat.
BURNING FOR ETHAN'S BLOOD.
"Nononononononono….This isn't happening, Ally this is a mistake." I begin to ramble, my heart racing.
"I'm so sorry, you were dying. I couldn't let you go!" She begins to sob, as I remember what had happened before I had woken to Ally's face.
Anastasia's fangs at my neck. She bit, she nearly bled me dry…Ethan untying me, and helping me to the floor…Ally singing to me, my vision blurring in and out…She holds up my wrist, and bites me.
"Ally." She saved my life. She saved my life because she couldn't lose me.
She glances back down at me, her eyes red.
"I understand if you hate me…for turning you into a monster." She sniffles, glancing away. Ethan places a hand on her shoulder.
My mind went back to the fight at Anastasia's castle. Ally had held onto my stupid words all this time?
"I'm the one who's sorry. You've been hurting all this time for what I said to Anastasia, and I hadn't noticed…Or maybe I had, and I chose to ignore it. I've been horrible. You've been hurting, you've been dealing with your transformation by yourself. Ally, you're not a monster. I love you for everything you are, everything. And I'm the monster for not letting you see that." Her eyes met mine again.
"Austin, you don't have to prove anything to me," She tries, but I cut her off.
"I could never hate you," I continue, not allowing her to apologize further, "You saved my life, you saved us all. I've never been more grateful to have a small piece of your heart, Ally. I was shocked, is all. But I'll get over myself. You gave me my life back, you gave me us back. I'll never lose you again,"
"And now, I'll never lose you," She chimes in, her voice shaking.
I try to reach for her, to wipe her tears, until I realize I'm still under her grip. I know now it's because Ethan's there, and I agree, I can't erase the throbbing in my throat right now, if she lets me go, I might just attack our friend.
She leans closer to me.
"Tell me we'll be ok," She shakes her head. "I just, I really need to hear it."
I look to Ethan. His face tells me that there is so much more than my almost death that's bothering her. But I know she's not ready to talk about it.
"We'll be ok Ally. We'll never lose each other again." I assure her.
As I say the words, I see Ethan clutch his head suddenly, shutting his eyes tight, groaning. I can tell he's biting his lip hard to prevent himself from screaming.
Ally turns to him.
"Ethan," And he takes a deep breath, opening his eyes, scowling. Just like that, he's back to normal.
I decide not to ask.
"What did you see?" Ally asks him gently. He shakes his head.
"We need to get out of here, now."
"No, we can't leave without Trish and Dez," I protest.
"They'll be ok, but you two? No, not when you're both vampires." He continues.
"Ethan what's going on? What did you see?" Ally says seriously, a tone in her voice I can only read as pure fear.
"Remember when I told you about the Lucifractor explosion?" She nods.
"The Lucifractor is a weapon that destroys all immortals," He fills in for me. "Anastasia knew what was going to happen to her council. I don't know how, but she knew that we would take down Trent and even her eventually. So she had a backup plan, and let you kill her quick, so she wouldn't suffer and could still get her revenge."
"No…This is bad, this is very bad." Ally shakes her head, looking back to me. "I'm so sorry," I hear her murmur.
"She found it, you need to leave." He finishes, standing up.
"We can't leave Dez and Trish, not with Jesse!" I exclaim, as Ally loosens her grip on my arms, preparing to raise us both to stand, still a safe distance from Ethan.
I try extra hard to ignore his mouthwatering scent, and the growth of fangs in my mouth, something I don't think I'll ever be used to…
"Austin's right, we won't leave our friends. I was the one who got them into this," She glances at me, "I have to get them out, before anything else happens."
Ethan hesitates. "I can find them, but you need to go, warn Sarah not to come."
"Ethan you can't face Jesse alone, he'll kill you!"
"Ally, when I woke up here, the first thing I saw was the Cubile Animus with your soul in it. I refuse to let you die again."
"Then we'd better find Trish and Dez fast, and get out of this prison." She helps me up, holding tight to my hand. My willpower works against me, my body straining not to pull away from Ally and run over Ethan.
She takes Ethan's hand in her other.
"Hold on tight." Her voice softens, "No one is going to lose anybody anymore. This is the end of that part of the story."
We go flying out the doorway and into the halls…
A/N: This is it guys, Anastasia and Trent are gone, but have left behind a destructive weapon set to destroy any immortal left in the 'prison' when time is up. We're wrapping up Secrets, the final battle is coming! Hmmm, maybe Sarah, Erica and Rory should rethink going to Whitechapel to save their friends?
*evil laugh*
