Mr. Wrong

Chapter Five

Two weeks had passed after the twins met their father for the first time. Neither of them had mentioned their run in with the business tycoon to their mother, and Rin had kept her meeting with the Takahashi man to herself. The twins had figured that they were in the clear since they hadn't heard from him again… until Hotaru came running to them one Tuesday afternoon during their lunch break. "You guys are not going to believe this, oh my God!"

"Um? Hotaru, what's gotten you all riled up," Naru asked her best friend; irking a silver brow as she waited for an explanation. "You're actually overly hyper for some odd reason, more hyper than you usually are."

"Sesshomaru Takahashi, that beautiful, beautiful silver haired dog youkai is here looking for the two of you," Hotaru squealed excitedly.

Two heads of silver hair turned to look at one another, both speaking at the same time, "Shit."

"I wonder what he wants with the two of you though," Hotaru continued on as she placed a finger to her chin, completely oblivious to their turmoil. "I know he met Naru a few weeks ago when we were out with your Uncle Miroku. But I'm not sure how he even knows Haru at all…"

"You didn't tell her," Haru demanded of his sister.

"Tell me what," the confused teen asked looking between the twins.

Naru sighed heavily, placing a hand to her forehead. "No I didn't but I may as well now. Hotaru, do you remember when I pulled you away as soon as Sesshomaru came walking towards us a few weeks ago?"

"Yeah, I still don't know why you did that," Hotaru answered. "But why do you ask? Does it have something to do with what you have to tell me?"

"Well, I did that because I didn't want you to find out that Sesshomaru Takahashi is actually Haru and I's father," Naru answered her question. "We found out a few years ago, but our Mother asked that we keep it a secret and that's why I couldn't tell you or I would have. Not to mention that he isn't exactly the person you would deem father of the year. Please do forgive me for not telling you sooner, it was just a protective measure that we had to take for our own safety."

Silence enveloped the small group of three for several long moments as Hotaru stared at the twins, allowing everything she had just learned to sink in before she finally yelled, "WHAT?!"

"Hotaru please keep it down, very acute hearing over here," Haru said as he and his sister rubbed their ears, trying to sooth the ringing caused by her shouting. "Even though we're only hanyou, our ears are still extremely sensitive."

"Sorry, sorry," Hotaru apologized. "But oh my gosh, I can't believe this. He's your father?!"

"Unfortunately yes he is," Haru answered for his sister. "And we wanted to keep that information to ourselves not only because of protective reasons, but because we didn't want everyone asking so many questions. And like Naru said, he's not exactly father material. He told our mother to abort us when she told him that she was pregnant. That didn't sit well with either one of us."

"Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry," Hotaru said placing a hand to her chest.

"It's cool, you didn't know," Haru said before turning to his sister. "So, I guess we should go see what his highness wants, eh Naru?"

"I guess so," Naru said rolling her eyes before the twins stood from their seats on the ground. The silver haired girl turned to her best friend with a smile. "Thanks for letting us know, Hotaru. We really appreciate you looking out for us. Even if you didn't realize you were doing so."

Hotaru nodded, "Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you."

"Call the cops if you don't hear from us again," Haru joked before he spoke again in all seriousness as they began to walk away. "But no seriously, if something happens to where we don't come back, call the cops and call our Mom. We have no idea what this guy is up to and if we go missing, we want them to know that he's the last person we were seen with."

The raven haired teen nodded as she watched the two walk away before turning to head off herself. She just hoped that nothing happened to them. She didn't know what she would do if she lost her best friend.

Naru and Haru walked into the office where their father was waiting for them. Naru folded her arms over her chest and rolled her eyes as she took a seat opposite of him followed by her brother sitting at her side. He had turned to look at them as soon as they walked into the room, obviously picking up their scent due to his sensitive nose. "Your scents are faint in here, I supposed you don't visit this office often."

"We're actually well behaved." Naru's comment was quick and full of sass, something her mother was sure came from Sesshomaru's mother. She had commented several times in the past that she reminded her a lot of InuKimi. "You must have done a background check or something on us to find out where we go to school because here you are. And obviously you want something, so out with it. What can we help you with Mr. Takahashi?"

"If there were any doubts you were my child before, there are certainly none now," Sesshomaru commented dryly. He absolutely hated his father for forcing him to do this. He would have been better off just visiting Rin in the first place with the invitation. They were, after all, almost eighteen years old so they should be able to make their own decisions. "You certainly get your mouth from my mother. She would adore you I'm sure because you're just a miniature her."

"So I've been told," the silver hair said rolling molten golden eyes. Sesshomaru couldn't help but notice exactly how much she really looked like him in that moment. "Seriously, what do you want Mr. Takahashi?"

"It is not what I want, it is instead what my Mother and Father want," Sesshomaru answered. "Father will be hosting a Gala this Saturday to commemorate the opening of one of our many companies and wishes for the two of you, as well as your mother, to attend. I will be visiting Rin next to inform her of the invitation when I am finished speaking with the two of you. Funds will be left with Rin for the three of you to acquire clothing that is appropriate for the event. A limousine will arrive at your home at seven pm sharp. Please be ready by that time, I would prefer if you were not late to this event."

"And if we refuse to show," Haru asked; irking a silver brow at his father. "What will you do then?"

"I could care less whether or not you three show up," Sesshomaru answered honestly. "It was not my idea to invite you in the first place. However, I would imagine that Father would be quite displeased with your decision not to attend something he invited you to without legitimate reason."

"Fine, we'll be there," Haru agreed.

"Good, your mother will discuss proper etiquette for this event with you when you return home tonight," Sesshomaru said as he stood, the bell signifying the end of the lunch period ringing overhead. He began to walk out of the office as he turned to look back at the twins. "Good day. I suggest that the two of you get to your next class."

"Yeah, yeah, just make sure you keep your hands to yourself when you visit my mother. If I find out you've harmed her in any way, I won't be so cordial" Naru said as she and Haru followed him out. They separated once they crossed the threshold, the twins heading towards the stairs and Sesshomaru for the door. It wasn't until they were inside the stairwell that Naru turned to her brother. "Think we can trust him?"

"Absolutely not," Haru answered immediately. "I only agreed to go to find out what the rest of the Takahashi clan is like."

"And how do you think Mom is going to take the request," Naru asked, taking the stairs two at a time. "And when she finds out that he's made contact with us?"

"She's going to fucking freak when she finds out that he knows who we are," Haru answered truthfully as they exited the stairwell at the third floor. "Especially since we didn't tell her about our run ins with him. Not to mention the fact that she hasn't seen his family in over eighteen years. So this is probably going to be super awkward for her being in a room full of Takahashi's."

"This week is going to be ridiculous," Naru groaned. "The news about our father is going to spread like wild fire and people are going to ask questions."

"Bring on the headaches," Haru sighed.

"You said it," Naru greed as they walked into their next class and took their seats.

She hummed along to the music as she looked over the case file she had been working on when she heard the knock at the door. Placing the file down, she made her way to the door and peeked out the peep hole. Her heart immediately sank to the pit of her stomach when she saw that it was Sesshomaru standing at her doorstep. How had he found her?! She was quite sure that she hadn't given him any of her contact information when she ran into him a few weeks ago. Hell, she had barely even spoken to the man! So how had he found where she lived?!

What do I do, she thought to herself? Thank Kami I didn't yell coming when I was making my way to the door. Should I just hide out and hope that he leaves? Or should I open the door and see what he wants?

"Rin I know that you are in there," Sesshomaru called out to her. "Open the door, there is a matter I wish to discuss with you pertaining to our children."

He knows about Naru and Haru?!

"Open the door, Rin. I will not ask you to do so again."

A heavy sigh escaped her grasp before she unlocked the door and opened it. A smile was plastered on her features as she stepped to the side to welcome her ex-boyfriend into her home. "Sesshomaru, what a pleasant surprise. Please do come in. Can I get you anything to drink? Anything to eat?"

"No, thank you for the offer but I won't be staying for very long," Sesshomaru answered as he entered the home. He paused at the wall that housed the family photos of Rin and the twins. One in particular caught his eye. Picking it up, he examined the photo of Rin holding two bundles in either arm, resting on a hospital bed. "I came to discuss a few things with you briefly then I will be on my way."

"Then please, join me in the kitchen," Rin offered as she gestured for him to head into the room first. He did, her following close after. She didn't miss how he kept the photo in his hands. Rin returned to the seat she had been sitting in before, moving her case files off to the side as Sesshomaru took the seat on the opposite end of the table from her. "So…"

"As I said before, I am here to discuss a matter that pertains to the twins," Sesshomaru stated. Upon the stunned look on her face, he continued. "Yes, I know about Naru and Haru. We have all met once before. They're… both very charming children."

"Let me guess, Naru sassed you and Haru acted as if he was uninterested in holding a conversation," Rin inquired to which Sesshomaru nodded the confirmation she needed. "I've told those two about doing that."

"It's fine," Sesshomaru said waving it off. "They are, after all, half my own so their behaviour is of no surprise. But, the reason I have come is because Father and Mother know about the twins as well now and wish to meet them. As do Izayoi, Kagome, and Inuyasha. One of the many Takahashi companies will be holding a Gala Saturday to commemorate it's start. Father wishes for yourself, Naru, and Haru to attend the event." He reached into the inside pocket of his blazer and handed her a wade of one hundred dollar bills. "This is for you to take the twins and acquire the appropriate attire for the Gala."

"Sesshomaru, I'm not sure that the twins will…" Rin started before she was cut off.

"I have spoken with them already and have been assured that they will be attending," Sesshomaru said quickly shooting down her statement. "A limousine will be here at seven pm sharp to pick the three of you up. I would suggest being ready by then so that you are not late."

He stood to leave, calling over his shoulder as he walked to the door.

"We shall see you Saturday Rin," he said as he placed the photo back in its place before walking out the door and closing it behind him.

Rin just stared, her mouth agape. Did that really just happen? And what were the twins going to say when they found out that he was here? Not to mention the fact that they had neglected to tell her they had met their father. She could feel her world beginning to turn upside down once again. She was sure that when she left eighteen years ago she had put Sesshomaru and everything else behind her. She was stupid to have thought so… especially since she had carried and delivered his children. He was bound to come barreling back into her life eventually. She had just hoped that it would have taken a few more years for it to happen.

And after 5ever, I'm back with another update. I'm so sorry for my long hiatus. But motherhood and work take up the majority of my time. Hopefully I'll have another update to this soon. But I can't make any promises that it'll be another few months before you see more updates again.
