Chapter 16
Everyone is sitting at the table enjoying dinner after an eventful preparation. Between Silas and Rafe debating on who made the better Alfredo sauce, who cut the cucumbers the best, and Sam being made guinea pig in taste testing the sauce it has been a night for the books. Sam looked around at her guys, all smiling and laughing. Trying to figure out what Danny is babbling on about. "Wow I could get used to this." Sam smiles to herself. "Sam, are you ok?" Rafe asks. "Me? I'm fine." "Are you sure? You look like something has got you puzzled." Silas added. "I'm good." Sam says ignoring Rafe's instinctive looks. They continue to talk and eat. Sam's phone goes off with a message. "When are you going to give him the letter-Rafe" "After dinner. Let me get Danny situated." Sam texts back. "Ok what's going on? Both of ya'll got quiet on me." Silas asks. Sam and Rafe both look at each other and then back at Silas. "Did I ever tell you how blue your eyes are?" Sam says avoiding the question. "(coughs) weak." Rafe lets out from under his breath as Sam glares at him. "Countless times Samantha. But that was really weak." Silas states standing up. Sam eyeballs Rafe in return getting a "told you so" expression.
Silas and Rafe start to clear the table as Sam takes Danny, who has fallen asleep in his highchair, upstairs to Rafe's room. Inside she is putting Danny down on the bed when she notices a picture of the four of them together. She couldn't help but smile. Meanwhile, Silas and Rafe are doing the dishes. There is a moment of silence before Rafe blurts out "Uncle Silas, me, you and Sam need to have a talk between the three of us." Silas looks at Rafe strangely. "About?" "I'll explain when she comes down here. Just know it's really important." Rafe says finishing loading the dishwasher. They finish cleaning the kitchen and head for the living. While waiting for Sam, Silas couldn't help but wonder what could be so important that it had to have him and Sam together at the same time for Rafe to tell them. Sam appears in the room, breaking Silas out of his thoughts. "What's with the sullen expressions?" "Come on Sam. We've got to get this over with." Rafe says as Sam sits beside Silas. "Get what over with?" Silas questions as Sam nods at Rafe to begin.
"So when I was going into the penthouse lobby today, I met this man. He stopped me and asked me did I know you. I told him I did and he gave me an envelope to give to you. He said that you would know what to do with it." Rafe says after a moment. "A man looking for me…at Sam's place?" Silas inquired. "Yea." "What did he look like?" "I didn't get a good look at his face because he had on dark sunglasses and wore a lot of black." "Did you see anything that you could identify with anybody you know?" Sam asks. "No. Even though I felt like I heard his voice before. But I didn't think anything of it." "So where is the envelope?" Silas asks. "I gave it to Sam." Rafe says as Sam hands him the envelope. "You gave it to the P.I. and it's still intact?" Silas jokes as Sam playfully hits him. "I was getting ready to open it but you called." Sam says matter-of-factly. Silas inspects the letter. "Just looks like a regular letter to me. Why did they give it to you? They could have just come to the hospital or better my house." Silas says. "That's what I thought." Sam says.
Silas is still holding the letter as everybody looks at him. "Well Uncle Si, are you going to open it?" "Probably later. Right now I'm not concerned with it." "Ummmm sweetie, I got a bad vibe from that letter. I mean the person who delivered it obviously knows that you have been to my house. I think you need to open it." Sam says. Silas looks back at the envelope and goes to open it. He pulls out a piece of paper. "What does it say?" Rafe asked. "Well looks like you have made it back to Port Charles. My old stomping grounds. You are brave for showing your face in this town. I hope you don't plan on making this a permanent place. By the time I get done with you, you're going to wish you never left home. Have fun while you can…..C." Silas reads out loud. "Who is C?" Rafe says as he takes the letter from Silas. "I don't know. But whoever C is means business. Who have you done pissed off with your cheerful demeanor?" Sam asks sarcastically. "You have jokes. But I don't know anybody by the name C." Silas says as he gets up and heads for the window. Sam stars to wonder what is going on when that same thought pops back into her head. "Sam you have to warn him…" Sam shakes it off "Well ok Sam let's get started with this. We have to figure out who this person is?" Rafe says standing up.
"We? Who says you are getting involved in this? This could be dangerous. I mean we don't know who we are dealing with." Silas says. "So? I'm not going to let somebody just come and threaten you like that." Rafe states. "Ok, like I said we don't know who this person is. You are not getting into this." "I'm sorry Uncle Si; I got involved in this when he came up to me." Rafe says as he heads upstairs. Silas lets out a heavy sigh. "I swear the more he gets older, the more he reminds more of my brother." "Is that a good or bad thing?" Sam asks as she gets up and heads over to him. "A little of both." Silas says wrapping his arms around her. "But he's right you know. You're not going to be alone in this. We're going to find out who is threatening you. They aren't going to get away with this while I'm around." Sam says gazing up at him. He smiles and places a kiss on her forehead. "You know, I could get use to coming home and seeing you and the kids here." Silas smoothly says. Sam smiles and says "I'm going to let that comment sink in as we get started. Come on Silas, we've got some digging to do." Sam says leading Silas upstairs. He stops them halfway up the stairs. "I love you." He says as he kisses her. "I love you too Silas." They share another kiss and head upstairs to his study.
