Chapter 21
Stephen is heading to the penthouse after leaving Rafe and Molly watching classic movies. "They're so perfect for each other. You've made me so proud. But once I'm done with you Rafe, Molly will know the power of a Clay man." Stephen says to himself as he parks and heads inside. "Stephen, you know this is wrong. And I will make sure you pay for what you've done." Silas' voice echoes through his head. "I'm not having this right now." "You know I'm right. She's a fighter. Samantha will never give into you." "Hush!" Stephen says as he gets into the elevator. "I'm not going to have you ruining my night with Sam. Get out of my head!" He reaches Sam's door and knocks. "It's open! I'm still getting ready!" Sam yells from the stairs. Stephen comes inside and looks around. "I could get used to this." Stephen says as he looks at a picture of Silas and Sam. He chuckles a little as Sam comes down the stairs.
"Hello Silas." Sam says as Stephen just stares at her. "Seriously? You act like you've never seen me dressed up." "Never like this. Where did you get this from?" Stephen asks as she comes up to him in a black and red backless halter-top dress that leaves little to the imagination. "Oh I had this for a party that never happened so I decided to debut it tonight." "Well I'm glad you did. Come here." Stephen grabs her and kisses her with such intensity. After a moment Sam looks at him weirdly. "Samantha, are you ok?" "Ummmm, yea I just had this weird feeling." "Like what?" "Like something strange is going to happen tonight." Sam says as they head to the door. "I wouldn't worry too much Samantha. I believe tonight is going down in the record books." Stephen says as they leave.
*Silas*
"Son of a bitch! I've got to get out of here. I can't let him get to them." Silas says as he tries to find a way to get untied from the chair. He bounces away from the wall and ends up falling over. "Damn it! Okay Silas, you got to use your head. Think like your brother. How in the world did he escape the institution? Without getting caught at that?" "He had help. That's how he escaped." A voice says. "Who's there?" "Silas, it's just me." Livvie appears. "What are you doing here?" Silas asks slightly annoyed. "I had to see what he did to you. To see if you were okay." "You knew what was going to happen? Why didn't you try to stop him?!" "I tried to warn you. Both you and Sam but you wouldn't listen to me!" Livvie says. "But you can talk him out of anything Livvie!" Silas states. "Not anymore. He won't listen to me because he thinks I'm still in love with you." Livvie says as Silas glares at her. "Well, you said that he had help escaping from the asylum. How?" Silas says as Livvie grows quiet. "Well, I'm waiting…."
Livvie walks away from him towards the window. "Did you help him, Livvie?" Silas asks with still no answer from Livvie. "OLIVIA!" He yells as she jumps. She looks at him with tears in her eyes. "I didn't physically help him if that's what you're wondering. But I did have a part in it." Livvie says as Silas just stares at her. "…what…" "I'm sorry Silas. I couldn't stand seeing him in that place. Just wasting away. Getting caught up in his grief. So I stepped into one of the guards' body that Halloween night. When the asylum had their annual party for the patients. And led him to unlock Caleb's room and let him out and to lock the room back up." Livvie says emphatically. "What the hell Olivia?! You let a deranged man on the loose and he ended up killing more people!" "He needed to find his "Olivia" and I was thinking if he found "her" he would get better." "He didn't find you Livvie, he found Sam." Silas growls. "I know. And it's killing me." "Well if you want to rectify your wrongs, you can help me get to Sam and Rafe. He's probably out with them right now." "No he's just out with Sam. Rafe is with Molly." Livvie points out. "Oh that's just even better." Silas says sarcastically. "Still can you help me Livvie, I need to get to Sam."
Livvie grows quiet once again and looks out the window. "Don't start this Livvie. I need to get to Samantha. Quickly!" Silas says. "She's strong. She can handle herself." "Livvie! I know she can handle herself. I've seen it myself. But she can't handle my crazy brother! He almost killed her that last time he had her. I don't want that to happen again." "Caleb won't kill her." "Olivia, you're stalling. I can tell when you don't want to tell me something. Just say it! If it's anything that can help me get to Sam. I can't lose her. She's a wonderful mother, a great person, and I…I…" "You love her…" "Yes. I do love her. So please help me." Silas says on the verge of tears. "That's the problem Si, I can't physically help you. I can't interfere. That's the whole thing with me. I can only tell you what to do. I can't tell you how or physically help you. That's my punishment for the hell I've caused." Livvie cries. "So you can facilitate my psychotic brother's escape from the one place that was keeping the people of the world safe, but you can't help me save the one person that means more to me than my own life." "I'm so sorry Silas." "Great. Well if you're done stalling me from getting to Sam. You can leave." Silas says frustrated. "Silas please, don't hate me…" "Livvie just go…" "Silas!" "GO!" Silas yells. Livvie, virtually sobbing by this point, starts to walk away. "You'll get to her Silas. The answers are within your reach." And with that she disappears. Silas stares at where Livvie was standing and lets out a frustrated cry. "Don't worry Sam. I'm going to get to you…" Silas whispers as he lays down.
