Hi there. I am back! I am very sorry for the late update. I was stuck with my two ongoing fics and I didn't have the time to update this one. I hope this worth the wait.
By the way, the picture that I use in this fic is me. A friend of mine took a picture of me when I was walking in the park. We were currently playing badminton that day and were thinking of exploring the park for a while. The park is pretty close to my home too.
DISCLAIMER: I do not own the Prince of Tennis, Konomi Takeshi-sensei does.
Mayu-chan – Yeah, that explains it. They will become roommates from now on… tee hee hee.
Chapter 2: First Day of Hassle-mess
Chapter Summary: She was excited on her first day but she didn't expect it to be full of surprises.
"Ryuzaki-chan, I want you to meet your roommate," Momo said waving his hand to him and introduced the boy in front of her;
"Echizen Ryoma."
Her eyes suddenly became widened while her cheek burned unconditionally. The boy that she wanted to see in that school was actually in front of her. She couldn't find her voice until Momo jabbed her to her side.
"Hey, speak up." Momo reminded her.
She blinked her eyes twice before bowing, not forgetting to act like a boy, "N-nice to meet you, Ryoma-kun, I am Ryuzaki, Ryuzaki Jerry desu. Yorushiku onegaishimasu."
Ryoma just stared at her feeling a bit odd, "Yorushiku." With that he turned back at what he was doing a while ago and ignoring them there.
Momo was the first one to react. He quickly walked to his table and scolded him, "What was that about? How rude of you to treat your roommate like that; Echizen?"
"I greeted him, senpai, and that was not rude." He said not looking at him.
Momo pulled his own hair due to frustration when he replied like that, "You're impossible to deal with, agh!"
Sakuno just looked at them creating sweat drops to her head. She had a hint that Ryoma was indeed difficult to talk to and she knew that somehow. Momo walked to her and said;
"Well, I did warn you about him, but he's kind," Momo said and then started to walk away, "Gotta go; nice meeting yah."
Sakuno bowed to him once again, "Arigatou, Momo-chan-senpai." She looked up again before entering the room. Now it was the two of them alone. She didn't expect that she could see him that easily and it was her first day at the dorm and him as her roommate. She approached a bed which she assumed that was hers and sat there.
It is so quiet here. How am I going to ask him if he didn't want to initiate a conversation? She thought while fidgeting with her fingers.
"Hey."
"H-hai?" she immediately looked up when the boy spoke and was looking at her. She blushed because of that. He was looking good when she saw him this up close.
Ryoma looked at her like he was examining her features. She became anxious when he was doing that;
"What is it?"
"Have we met before?"
She was a bit surprised and panicked inside when he asked that, "N-no, t-this is our first meeting, I believe."
"Hmmm." He responded as that.
D-did he recognize me? But that is impossible. I am a boy now or… maybe he discovered my cover that easily? Oh my, I am in big trouble if he did. I hope he didn't. She thought randomly as she looked down. Ryoma was still looking at her. And really she was blushing hard, he might thought that she was weird blushing like that… at least for a guy.
"Just be careful."
"Eh?!" She looked up again but the boy was facing his table once again, "W-what do you mean by that?"
It took seconds before he replied, "You'll know tomorrow."
She blinked her eyes twice wondering what he said. That thought was being kept in her head all night. Whatever the day would be, she would face it.
Next Morning:
The day was like normal for her, aside from few stares that she was receiving. W-why are they staring at me? Is there something on my face? I-is my disguise been discovered already? She thought as she walked to her classroom. Ryoma had left their room earlier and she didn't know where he'd gone to. He should've woke me up at least. That guy…
She entered the room and as usual all eyes were on her. She was starting to get anxious at their stare. Just what was on her face that they couldn't look away from it?
"Ah, Ryuzaki-san, you're here. Kindly introduced yourself to everyone."
Sakuno bowed to her professor and introduced herself in front. She was assigned to a seat second to the window. The teacher was about to start when three students ran in to the room.
"Satoshi-san, Katchiro-san, Katsuo-san, you'll do the cleaning duty after class." The teacher said once they sat to their own seat.
"Sensei, no fair." The three of them complained with different pitch of tones.
"Then, come to the class in time if you don't want to be punished." The teacher said glaring at them making them to shut up.
Sakuno found them a bit funny. She thought of making friends with them. Her thoughts were cut when another student appeared at the back of the class. Her eyes widened in shock.
"Sorry I am late sensei, I took a wounded horse to our clinic." The late comer explained.
The teacher closed his eyes as vein popped on his head, "There's no horse in the academy, Echizen-san. Don't give me that lame excuse."
Ryoma walked to his seat which was next to the window beside her actually. As long as he sat comfortably there he continued explaining, "The horse jumped to the wall with a large arrow on his stomach."
His classmates snickered to his lame excuses and he heeded no attention to that. The teacher was pissed already.
"Echizen-san, join the trio after school for cleaning duty for being late."
He slouched further when he heard that, "che…"
Sakuno chuckled at him because of his behavior. So he had that attitude as well and she found him interesting to watch. Ryoma suddenly looked at her causing to be shocked a little. She smiled at him when she recovered. But like yesterday, he was still ignoring her. She pouted. What a snob you are! With that she returned her gaze to the front, not aware that the boy saw what she did and smirk afterwards.

The class went on and was good so far. She was very thankful that she understood everything, well except English. She couldn't understand English that much and she was shocked that Ryoma could speak English fluently. Ryoma was really genius at everything. No wonder that he had that guts to answer the teacherwith confidence a while ago. She sighed really hard. If she wanted to become a regular student in Seishun Academy, she needed to pass all the exams and English was no exemption.
Later on:
"A club?" she asked her teacher after class. The teacher had asked her to stay after class and asked about clubs.
The teacher nodded and continued, "Each student here has to become a member of a club and you are no exemption to that. Well, you have a week to choose since you are currently for observation but if you pass the exam you have to join a club."
"H-hai." She nodded thinking of how was she going to join a club.
"You better see a club before deciding to join one. If you are thinking of a club already then it's good."
She nodded once again. She thought of joining the cooking club but it was for girlish thing. It wasn't that boys couldn't cook but she was a boy now. If she joined that club, she was like giving herself her secret away. In the end, she changed her mind and said, "N-no… there is none sensei."
"Is that so?" the teacher thought and then looked at the detainees, "You can ask for their help afterwards."
The boy named Horio reacted, "W-what? Us?"
"Why Satoshi-san, do you have a problem with that?" The teacher asked him.
Horio sweat dropped and continued cleaning the room, "I-ie sensei."
"Good."

"Gomen! Minna. I didn't mean to bother you."
"Hmmm," Horio started, "It's nothing. It's for a change anyway."
"Well, what club do you want to join?" Kachiro asked her.
She thought of something, "I-I am not pretty sure yet." I can't tell them that I joined cooking club before.
Horio was about to say something when someone appeared in front of them, mostly in front of Ryoma.
"Ochibi!"
Sakuno sweat dropped, "O-ochibi?..."
Ryoma tried to struggle as he retorted, "Kikumaru-senpai, let go of me!"
"Haha, you are getting used of him huh, Echizen."
"Momo-chan-senpai." Sakuno, Horio, Katsuo and Kachiro said at the same time and looked at each of them at the same time as well.
"You know our senpai?" Katsuo asked her.
She nodded, "He helped me find the Principal's Office yesterday," with that she bowed in front of him once again, "Thank you again for yesterday, senpai."
Momo flailed his hands once again, "Hey, I told you. No need for formalities.
Out of the sudden, the one Ryoma called 'Kikumaru' leaned closer to her. She sweat dropped and blushed at the same time, "A-anou…"
"You are the humored transferee," he said as he examined her, "Hey, what's your name?"
"R-ryuzaki, Ryuzaki Jerry-"
"Cherry-chan!" he exclaimed making the rest sweat dropped.
"C-cherry… chan?" she also sweat dropped.
"Your name's Cherry-chan," he confirmed, "No wonder you look like a girl."
She wasn't prepared at that. Everyone looked at her and examined her thoroughly.
"Now that you mentioned it, he looks like girl." Horio said putting a finger to his chin.
"Well, I thought of that when we first met yesterday," Momo said and then looking at his kouhai, "Do you feel the same too, Echizen?"
Ryoma looked at her making her heart skip a beat. He then closed his eyes and said, "Betsuni."
"Hmmm," Kikumaru looked at her, "You are not a girl, are you?"
Sakuno panicked as they leaned closer to her, even Ryoma was doing it, amazingly. Her eyes wondered elsewhere as she remembered Tomoka's advice.
No matter what happens, deny the fact that you are a girl.
Upon remembering her best friend's words, she suddenly burst out, in a manly attitude, "Otoko da yo! Baka!"
They leaned back when she said that. She gave them a slight fright actually, "Gomen if I looked like a girl but I am a boy, you hear me."
"If you say so," Kikumaru said, "The name's Kikumaru Eiji. Be careful for the other boys here, they might fall in love with you."
"E-eh?!"
"He's right," Momo agreed, "you see, Echizen here is actually receiving love letters to the other boys around here. He snapped one day and threw his stalker a tennis ball and then he stopped pestering him."
"Momo-senpai!" Ryoma retorted.
"Really, something like that happened?" Sakuno said, couldn't believe what was happening to him.
Ryoma glared at her, "Stop it."
"Well, if you forgot what we are doing now, I would like to remind you, we are here to help Cherry-san here to find him a club." Horio suddenly talked.
"Really, I want to help too." Eiji suggested.
"I want to help too." Momo said, "let's help cherry-san find his club of choice."
Sakuno was happy that everyone was helping her to find her a suitable club. But she was only pissed of something, "Minna-san my name is Jerry not Cherry!"
"Yeah, Cherry-chan," Eiji lookd at her, "let's go."
In the end she sighed, she had a feeling that she was about to have a nickname of her own in that school.
Later On:
They went to different clubs. They visited the archery first, Sakuno tried the bow and arrow but she couldn't budge it. Eiji tried it too along with the two. The acrobatic player had reflexes but his aim was out of balance. Momo couldn't aim even the target and Ryoma… ummm let us leave him.
"Get out of here!" The club captain shouted at them, "You cannot join two clubs, now off you go."
Sakuno bowed in front of her. The captain just shook her head before going back inside.
The seven of them continued looking for her club. The next was the basketball club. Sakuno tried to shoot a ball as everyone watched her, but the ball didn't even touch the ring. She sweat dropped;
"L-let me try again," She said blushing a little. She did but it was the same;
"…"
"Again," but it was the same;
"…"
"O-one more time." But it was all the same.
"You have tried enough, let's go." Eiji said grabbing her from the back of her neckline. Eiji was somehow embarrassed with her shots.
"K-kikumaru-senpai, M-matte!" she protested but no to avail.
"W-where's Echizen?" Horio suddenly asked when he noticed that he was not following them. Everyone looked back even her just to see Ryoma trying to shoot a ball to the ring. Just like Sakuno, he tried to shoot the ball but it couldn't touch the ring.
Momo and Eiji narrowed their eyes as they sweat dropped;
"I-is that the young prodigy?" Eiji asked Momo.
Momo created a vein on his head, "I'll stop believing that he is if he continues doing that," with that he approached him and dragged him out of the court.
"M-momo-senapai!"
"Quit it, Echizen! You're embarrassing us."
"Like you didn't in the archery club."
"SHUT IT!"
Next was the sumo wrestling. They watched two people who wrestled in the small ring. They had bigger weights and the way they forced themselves out of the ring was too daring. They watched at the corner as they sweat dropped;
"No?" Sakuno asked them.
"Definitely." Horio said.
"Yap." Momo, Eiji and the two agreed while Ryoma just looked away.
They visited drama club, well they passed it and she was thankful of that. If she acted in front of them, they might notice something odd from her. Drama club was something similar to cooking club.
They were easy to discover her true identity.
They tried football club they could play but not as good as those real players, although, Ryoma had the potential to become a member.
"Please Echizen-san, join our team!" Both captain and the vice pleaded him.
"I-I…" he tried to say something when the rest interrupted.
"NO!" With that he grabbed Ryoma and ran away leaving Sakuno behind.
"W-wait!" She said before bowing in front of them and followed the rest. The Captain and the Vice Captain sweat dropped.
They tried every club but they still couldn't find a suitable one for her. In her case, she hadn't found the club which was right for her. Then she remembered something. She looked at them and said her thoughts;
"A-anou-"
They looked at her and gave her a questioning look before they could ask her she asked them first;
"I sense that you all belong to one club, right?" she started, "Say, which club do you belong to?"
They looked at each other before looking back at her. They gave her a smirk even Ryoma had one. Eiji answered her question;
"Well, we belong to a prestigious-"
"Ne, Abunai!"
Eiji was cut with his words when someone shouted not far away from them. Everyone looked at the direction where the voice came from only to be shocked. A baseball ball came as fast as the speed of light and it was directing to Sakuno's head. Sakuno who was petrified at her location did nothing but to stare at the ball coming towards her.
"Ochibi!" Eiji shouted getting Ryoma's attention. The acrobatic player jumped from his location and threw something at him while Momo gave him a broom stick which was not far from him.
Ryoma focused on the ball as he caught the broomstick and ran to Sakuno's direction. Just as he reached Sakuno's front he hit what Eiji threw at him and went to the ball which was coming their way. The fast ball went to a different direction when Ryoma's shot met it. Amazingly, the ball created a dent.
Sakuno saw everything. It was a powerful hit as her eyes widened. She remembered a scene from the past and how could she forget that. She looked at Ryoma once again, "Y-you are…"
"If you are thinking about it, you are right, Cherry-chan," Momo said and at the same time Ryoma looked at her with a smirk as the former continued speaking, "We are from the tennis club."
She was a bit shocked even though she already knew about it. But as Ryoma was standing in front of her, everything was different. She felt that her cheek burned a little.
"Hey, Cherry-chan, don't tell me you fall in love with our Ochibi now?" Eiji teased when he saw her staring at him.
Sakuno replied as she blushed, "Chigau yo!" she protested and then looked back at Ryoma, "Sugoi Ryoma-kun. You are really cool."
Ryoma blinked his eyes twice as he stared at her. He looked away as he put the broomstick down from his shoulder, "Thanks."
"We all receive that." Momo and Eiji said at the same time.
"I've decided," Sakuno said getting everyone's attention, "I'll join your club."
They blinked their eyes twice before commenting, "What?!"
"I'll join your club."
Momo and Eiji looked at each other and then looked at their kouhais. Ryoma just shrugged indicating he didn't mind her at all. Horio was the one to ask;
"Are you sure, Cherry-san?"
She nodded making it as her final decision. She looked at them. Eiji then jumped at a higher place and pointed at her making her flinch as well as everyone;
"Cherry-chan! I choose you!" he said, "welcome to the club, nya!"
"Senpai no baka!" Momo retorted, "he needs to join the trial first and see if sensei agrees of him."
Eiji stuck his tongue out, "Hee hee, right," Eiji looked at her, "Well, good luck, Cherry-chan."
She closed her eyes forgetting to act like a girl for a while, "Hai, arigatou."
Because of that, she made them blush a little, even Ryoma who pinned his hat down for the first time. Since when did he have his hat by the way? She thought as she stared at him.
They shrugged after that short gesture as she returned acting like a boy once again. They smiled at her after that, finally deciding which club she decided to join once she entered the school as a regular student.
Night:
They were alone in their own room after that. Ryoma was currently doing his homework while she decided to fix her things at her closet. Even though she was not yet a regular student in that school, she thought of making her things neat and clean. They were boy's clothes anyway.
I need to call Tomoka-chan as soon as possible. I have to tell her everything; she's going to be shocked at this. She giggled at that thought as she yanked something out from her bag and something came out with it. She didn't realize it rolled on the ground and it stopped at Ryoma's foot. He grabbed it and studied it in his hand;
"Ne."
"Hmmm." She looked at him but was immediately shocked when she saw what he was holding.
"Why do you have this?" Ryoma was staring at it before looking at her.
It was a tennis ball. But what wondered him; there was a caricature… more like a doodle of a boy… a boy that looked like him. The doodle had a hat just like his and also had a stoic expression.
"I—I—err—that is…" she tried to explain herself. Ryoma was becoming suspicious before he could ask her; she said her thoughts first, "G-gomen, Ryoma-kun."
Ryoma blinked his eyes twice, "why are you apologizing?"
"I—I kinda know you, you see." She looked at him who was shocked, "I—I mean it's not me—it's my sister. Y-yeah, it is my sister."
"Your… sister." He raised a brow at her words.
"I-If you remember one day, y-you kinda saved my sister from bad guys. Y-you threw that ball to that person's face and saved her." she blushed as she remembered what happened back then. She lied to him a little about that, like she could tell him her little secret right now, hoping that he could buy her alibi. How she regretted about doodling his face in that ball so that she couldn't forget his look.
"Hmmm." He simply replied and looking straight at the ball. And then he quickly tossed the ball back at her.
"A-anou," she started getting his attention once again, "S-she said that she wanted to thank you personally but she couldn't enter this school. So she had me enter this academy to thank you personally."
Ryoma looked at her for a while making her blush a little. She did a good job right? She acted a boy all day. She didn't crack a voice as she could remember. She practiced a lot about this. But Ryoma was trying to see through her. She just hoped that he wouldn't see through her.
That she was actually the 'sister' she told about him.
That she was actually the girl that he saved back then.
"Sou ka," he started, "No wonder you look like a girl."
"E-eh?!" her heart beat faster than before. Was it the end of her? Was she discovered on her second day? "What do you mean by that?" she asked him pluckily.
Ryoma stared at her for the last time before returning to his homework, "I can see your sister in you."
Her eyes were slowly widened as her blush returning to her face. She turned around from him so that he wouldn't see her reaction. H-he remembered me. He remembered me back then. I am so happy. She thought as she smiled merrily. She quickly calmed herself down before Ryoma noticed her being crazy at her location. Before anything else, she continued fixing her clothes to her closet that night.
Done was this chapter? I am thinking of making this fic a slight parody. So anyone guess where Eiji got his 'phrase' a while ago? I think you knew already. Tee hee hee… So the genres of this fic are Romance, comedy/parody. Okay… ^_^
Once again, this is not exactly the hana kimi version. I am just getting some ideas but it is completely different for I have my original plot.
So that explains Sakuno's alias. Jerry sounded like Cherry to Eiji's ears. And that is how Cherry was born. I hope you like this… really.
See you soon… I hope… ^_^
Next Chapter: The Prodigies
