Chapter 5: Secretly Busted

Chapter Summary: He was surprised, shocked, flabbergasted, dumbfounded, and stunned at his discovery. One thing was; how was he going to react to it? Find that out.

"R-ryuzaki… is a… girl?"

His amber eyes were wide as a marble as he unbelievably looking at the other bed in the room. From that bed, a girl was lying there and was unaware of the things around her. Leaning on his own bed, Sakuno turned to her sideways… facing her back to him. He slowly went down to his bed and carefully walked closer to his roommate.

And had one more look at her.

His blush was still present as he completely confirmed it. Ryuzaki was a girl… there was no doubt about it.

"M-momo-senpai." He immediately remembered his senpai. Walking backwards, he tried not to create a sound as soon as possible. And when he finally got out, he dashed on his way where he could reach Momo. He thought that his senpais hadn't walked that far from his room.

…Which he was right after all.

As soon as he turned into a corner, he immediately spotted the dunk smasher and called out to him. The one being called turned to his direction.

"Echizen," He said as he saw him panting when he reached him, "What's the matter? Why are you running? Is something wrong happen to Cherry-chan?"

Ryoma quickly grabbed his shirt without warning, "Ryuzaki! Girl!—Must see!"

"What…?" He twitched an eyebrow.

"Ryuzaki is a girl!" He leaned closer to him saying the words directly at him. Curses for making him blush at that moment but he was really shocked… having a girl to be his roommate.

Who wouldn't panic because of that?

He only flinched when Momo just laughed at him, "W-why are you laughing, senpai? It's not funny!"

"Are you still drunk?" Momo said as he tried to stop from laughing, "Did you drink Inui-senpai's juice or anything? Why are you red then?"

"I am not joking here! Ryuzaki's really-"

"Stop that already," He slapped his back for several times still laughing at him, "That's impossible Echizen. There's no way that Cherry-chan is a girl. "

"But-"

"He may look like a girl but that is all to it;" He leaned closer to him, "And lower your voice down. Someone might hear you and believe it. If that happens, he would be at stake and it would be all your fault."

"What…?" He frowned this time. If he told everyone about his 'little' discovery, she would be really in trouble. But why would she be enrolling here in an all boys school anyway. She must've a reason. Upon realizing that, he looked down as he leaned away from him.

"Seriously, Echizen, you look funny today," Momo commented as he placed a hand on his waist, not trying to burst a laugh again, "It's rare for me to see you like that."

Trying to be calm, he closed his eyes as he looked sideways; his hands were in his pocket, "Che."

"Just don't fall in love with him; he's such a beauty as we all know about it." He teased.

"Stupid senpai." He only retorted back at him.

Momo pushed him way back to his room, "Go back Echizen, We're going to be doomed if we pass our curfew. I don't want to receive any detention you know."

Without replying to his words, he slowly walked away from him. At least he had calmed down a bit. He shouldn't be panic like that. It was not his character at all. As he reached the door to his room, he slowly opened it and peeked inside. She was still the same like how he left her there. He sighed as he walked inside and went to the sleeping 'boy'.

It was the situation that hated him especially when she turned back to the way she was. He only blushed when he remembered that her shirt was still opened. Reluctantly, he slowly walked closer to her and carefully closed her shirt. He had successfully closed it without waking her. It would be a problem if she did.

After he did that, he slowly walked back to his bed, sat on the edge and stared at her. He's a girl… why is she here then? He thought as he watched her sleep on her own bed. There must be reason why she was here.

'Y-you kinda saved my sister from bad guys…'

His eyes flinched when he remembered their conversation on the second night of her admission. Could she be the girl that I saved back then? No wonder that she looked familiar to me. He thought as he continued staring at her.

'S-she said that she wanted to thank you personally but she couldn't enter this school. So she had me enter this academy to thank you personally.'

His eyes widened when he remembered her reason. Could it be that he was the reason why the girl was there enrolling in Seigaku? She wanted to thank him personally because he saved her once? Upon realizing that, he let himself collapse on his bed as he draped his arm over his forehead;

"That's why girls are weird." He whispered to himself. If his memories were strong, he remembered that she used to wear braids at that time and not admitting it, cute in her own way. Even she cut her hair; it was unnatural for him to recognize her, though he unconsciously did.

He didn't bother to change her clothes. She would suspect it if she woke up in the morning. Even he wanted to change her clothes, he knew that he couldn't. Somehow, he understood why the girl kept her secret hidden. He hoped that she wouldn't catch a cold in the morning.

He fixed himself on his bed as he thought of something. It was a stupid thing to approach Momo and told him about her identity. Good thing that his senpai didn't believe him. Knowing her identity was troublesome for him but he didn't find it annoying.

…To keep it to himself as well.

This was a new challenge for him. And it wasn't boring at all. He was bored enough and this was worth an entertainment for him. For now, he would try to figure anything out… on how to deal with her.

The Next Day:

She woke up early for an unknown reason. Frowning as she sat up, she felt wondrously lighter than before. What happened to me? She thought as she felt her head. Then, she remembered about the welcome party that the club prepared for the newcomers and drank Inui's juice.

Yeah, she fainted.

She remembered that she was being carried but she couldn't remember when she passed out after that. She looked at her clothes as she remembered that she was on her uniform. Irking to the sight, she was still on her uniform but she could feel how awful she was. Her clothes were dried of Inui's juice.

She had slept on her uniform with the juice in it.

"Chissu…"

…Upon hearing that, she looked at her sideways and saw Ryoma standing up.

"O-ohayou guzaimasu, Ryoma-kun."

He just looked at her and nodded, "Aren't you going to change?"

Her eyes widened when he asked that. She looked down as blush appeared on her face, "Yeah, I'll go change." That wondered him, no one changed her clothes especially when they saw that she was soaking wet. But on the other hand, it was a good thing that no one dared try or she would be in trouble.

"Were you the one who carried me here, Ryoma-kun?" She said as she finished changing her clothes. They were on their way to the court to have their practice morning. They decided to have breakfast after the morning practice that day.

Ryoma yawned before he answered, "No… Momo-senpai carried you. You were too heavy for me to carry."

She pouted when he said that, "I am not!"

"Heh," He smirked as he inserted his hand in his pocket, "Also you were a fast sleeper. You made me sleep right away."

"Oh really?" She said as she narrowed her eyes at him, "Then why are you yawning?"

He looked at her maintaining the smirk on his face, "Because there was some guy in the room who was snoring so loud that it had me a hard time to sleep."

"What?!" This time, she blushed when he said that, "I—I don't snore for your information."

"And how do you know that? You were sleeping."

"Y-you-" She tried to retort back but she didn't know what to say, "You are unbelievable, Ryoma-kun."

"Mada mada dane, Ryuzaki." With that he walked ahead of her, smirking in the process.

"Ryoma-kun no baka…" She pouted as she whispered that catching up to him as they continued walking to the court.

Tennis Court:

"Where's everyone?" Ryoma walked to the trio when they saw them fixing tennis balls at the court. They couldn't see any regular playing inside the court.

Horio looked at them and replied, "They are inside the club room. The coach is not there yet but Tezuka-buchou is having a meeting now," He leaned closer to Ryoma, "You should go now. You two don't want to run laps, do you?"

Upon hearing that, they looked at each other before walking their way to the club room. Ryoma opened the door and announced their appearance.

"I know who you are!"

Sakuno was shocked when a finger was pointed at her. She blinked at it for several times, "W-what…?" her eyes went to the acrobatic player who was pointing a finger at her.

"Eiji!" Oishi grabbed his partner's shoulder from behind and retorted, "You know that it's rude to point a finger at someone."

Eiji smiled as he pointed down his finger but not until he grabbed her on the shoulder, "I know who you are, Cherry-chan."

She gave him a frown. Somehow, she didn't like what he was talking about, "W-what do you mean by that, s-senpai?"

The acrobatic player pulled her to a swivel chair and forced her to sit down, "Guys, you will be surprised. I present to you… the real Cherry-chan."

Everyone looked at them. Ryoma was a bit worried but he didn't show it. Sakuno was tensed what her senpai was talking about. She was about to ask something when the acrobatic player spun the chair at an unbelievable speed.

"S-s-s-senpaiiiiiiii~" She closed her eyes to avoid from fainting and hoped that she could survive it.

And in an instant, the chair was stopped from spinning and she was presented in front of them… in a different get up. Everyone sweat dropped at her new appearance.

Still on the chair, she was sitting on it with her feet on top of the chair. Her dress was in pants and white t-shirt and she was holding a phone to her ear… in a weird way.

"L!" Eiji shouted at them, "The amazing detective ever!"

Silence.

TWACK!

"EIJI! 50 laps around the court, now!" Tezuka said holding the fan that he used for hitting him.

"B-but Tezuka, isn't he Ryuuzaki? He's looking for the real Kira, right?" He pointed at her, "Look at him."

"60!"

He flinched as he walked on his way to the door, "Hai, hai," He looked at Sakuno who was sweat dropped at that time, "See you later, Cherry-chan." He blinked before completely leaving the room.

Everyone sighed after the short scene. In an instant, Sakuno's 'cosplay' disappeared from her. Seriously, how did Eiji do that? He was amazing in some way but in weird way as well. Momo walked up to her and offered her his hand;

"Gomen about that Cherry-chan," He said as he smiled at her, "Eiji-senpai reads manga about detectives and mysteries and other stuffs like that."

"I-ie, that's okay," She looked at the door, "He's funny really... and weird."

"Well, Echizen's the weird here," He commented as he whispered to her ear, "He thought that you were a girl last night. He must've drunk or something."

Upon hearing that, she quickly leaned away from him and looked at Ryoma who happened to have heard of it, "W—what do you-"

"Senpai," Ryoma interrupted her, "You must have been dreaming. Or are you the one who got drunk?"

"What did you say?"

Ryoma looked away from him and tried to hold back a laugh, "Can't you recognize a joke from the reality?"

Both Sakuno and Momo looked at each other. Sakuno gave him a weird laugh while Momo realized what Ryoma had been saying. He simply looked at his junior and retorted;

"You stupid, Echizen!"

Ryoma just stuck his tongue out while placing both of his hands to his head still not facing them.

"Echizen! Ryuzaki! 50 laps around the court now!" Tezuka suddenly announced.

Momo used that chance and smirked at Ryoma, "You are late Ochibi… involving Cherry-chan too."

"Che." With that, he quickly walked away from the crowd not missing to look back at them, "Ikou, Ryuzaki,"

Sakuno flinched when he called her. She bowed at them before catching up with him.

Fuji and Kawamura looked at their freshmen. The tensai was smiling at their location.

"Interesting..."

"What's so interesting, Fuji?" Kawamura asked the tensai.

"Ryoma never called out to anyone like that, aside from Momo of course." He said as he still smiled.

Kawamura just shrugged before replying to him, "Well, they are roommate. I guess they could get along."

Fuji just nodded accepting his answer. It could be. But on what the tensai was thinking… no one would know.

Three days later:

'So… you just called me because you were busy?'

'Hai…'

'And your roommate is happened to be the person who saved you before?'

'Hai…'

'And you became a regular student and a member in tennis club?'

'Hai…'

'But a senpai from the club discovered your identity and he promised to keep it a secret as long as you date him?'

'H-hai…'

'…'

'Tomo-chan…?'

'That. Was. Awesome.'

'Eh?'

'Luck is still on your side. Don't you know that?'

'I guess so… but I still need to be careful. I am glad that Fuji-senpai kept my secret with him.'

'He must be very kind… and handsome.'

'Ah… h-he sure is.'

'Well, who do you pick then?'

'What?'

'Your Fuji-senpai or Your Ryoma-sama?'

'T-tomo-chan!'

'Hahahaha! Well, good luck then. Watch yourself next time okay.'

'Un, I'll call you later.'

She dropped the call after that. Sighing as she put her phone back to her pocket, she realized that talking to her best friend was pretty relaxing and calm. She could freely breathe after the talk. Smiling to herself, she looked behind her;

"Thank you for allowing me to stay here for a while," She blushed a little as she talked in a girl's voice, "Fuji-senpai."

Fuji smiled back at her and said, "Well, Tezuka will be staying up all night at the club with the coach, so it will be safer for you to make your calls here."

"That's why I am so thankful of you."

"You know that you have to make up for it." Fuji said as he walked closer to her.

Sakuno looked up and stared at her senpai. Her heart beat faster for an unknown reason. She secretly flinched when he grabbed her hand and kissed it.

"You owe me a date on Saturday." He said opening his eyes while doing so.

Blush appeared on her face as quickly as that. She immediately pulled her hand away from him, "S-senpai… stop doing that, will you? W-what if someone sees us?"

Fuji stood straight while still looking at her, "Don't worry about it. It almost the curfew time so no one would come and walk by."

Upon hearing that, she suddenly stood up and began panicking, "T-then, I should leave now. I don't want to be caught. Ryoma-kun would be waiting for me too." She walked to the door and was about to open it when she looked back to him, "Thank you again, senpai. Good night."

"Sakuno-chan…"

Her plan of opening the door was halted when she heard her real name from him. She looked at him once again waiting for him to say something.

"Don't forget our little date." His eyes were closed at that time.

She blushed once again before she shyly nodded to him opening the door in the process. Walking on her way to her unit, all she could think was their upcoming date on Saturday. It was almost at the end of the month and each month; all students of Seigaku had to leave the premises for a day visit for their family and friends.

But she was going to spend the day with her senpai for the date that she promised.

She stopped at their door but she wasn't going to open it for a while. Come on, Sakuno. It's just one date, there's no meaning to it. The person that I started to admire is… While thinking, she opened the door of their room and spotted her roommate sitting in front of his study table. Is him.

"You are late."

She flinched when she heard him suddenly talk, "Gomen, Ryoma-kun, I talked to my…" She replied closing the door behind her trying to come up with anything, "I talked to my girlfriend and we decided to meet this coming Saturday."

Ryoma looked at her and twitched a brow, "Girlfriend?"

"Hai…" She immediately replied, "We just ended up our conversation a while ago."

"…"

"Don't you believe me?"

He stared at her for a while before shrugging, "You look like a girl to have a girlfriend in the first place."

"A-and what do you mean by that?" She retorted.

"That's what I mean," He smirked afterwards before turning his head on his homework, "But good luck on your date with your girlfriend."

"Mataku…" She sighed afterwards and then remembered something, "E—anou sa, about my sister…"

Ryoma suddenly looked at her making her flinch in the process. Without further ado, she immediately bowed in front of him;

"Well… thank you for saving her that day. You were her life savior, really." Her eyes were closed at that time waiting for his reply. But he didn't say anything for the whole minute. Curious about it, she decided to bend her upper body back and was about to look at him;

"Your sister…"

"Eh?" She reacted as she finally looked at him.

"It would've been better if I could meet her."

Her eyes were slowly widened when Ryoma said that. Well, she wasn't expecting that from him. She wasn't even aware that she was blushing at that time. Finally registering what he meant, she slowly smiled at him, "She would be pleased."

Ryoma looked away after that as he continued making his homework. Sakuno sat on her study table and did her own homework as well.

Friday:

The practice that day didn't last long for they would be leaving the school tomorrow. All students had plan for tomorrow and some students weren't planning to leave the dorm that month. But all regulars and some members of tennis club would be going home tomorrow.

Ryoma was going to do the same. He would be spending one day to his parents' house like he usually did every month. Everything that happened to him for the past month was pretty interesting for him.

And it was all because of the girl who was disguising as a boy.

There were times that he wanted to laugh at her especially when she did something funny in front of him. Like talking to her girlfriend for instance, she must've talking about her friend or someone that was close to her. It was impossible for her to have a 'girlfriend' at all. It would be definitely true and would probably believe it if she was a boy. The day before he discovered that she was a girl was also a funny thing for him.

He could tease the girl about these things for it was the girl's fault after all. Who wouldn't stay up late thinking that he was sleeping with a real girl in one room? That was the thing that he should keep to himself.

…That his roommate was a girl.

"So what are you going to do tomorrow, Oishi?"

He could hear Eiji asking his partner as he neared the tennis court. His roommate was busy talking to her teacher about something so she would be a little late for the practice. She asked him to reason out for her to their Captain.

"The same just like last month. What about you?"

"I'll go to the supermarket first and buy my favorite toothpaste and then go home." Eiji answered.

"Typical of you E-iji-senpai, huh," he also heard Momo in the conversation. He quickened the pace after that, "What about you, Fuji-senpai?"

"Me? Well…"

He turned to a corner and he went face to face with Fuji as he answered Momo's question;

"I am going to have a date with a beautiful lady tomorrow."

Everyone was shocked at his answer especially him. They remained speechless as they never expected that the tensai would say that in front of them. Somehow, he felt that he wasn't going to like what was going to happen of his senpai's date tomorrow.

He had a bad feeling about it.

Done! How was this chapter? Waah…this is complicated. But I am glad that some of you ended up liking this. Thank you very much.

Once again… this is not completely a Hana kimi story. Some ideas were from the said action drama and the manga. I am going to change the plot because of that. For those who watched the drama knew what I was talking about.

Remember 'L Lawliet' from Death Note? Yep, he's the one… I just remembered that L is using a nickname called 'Ryuuzaki' in the anime so I thought of using it here too… tee hee hee… Well, in POT manga, Sakuno and Sumire's surname was spelled as 'Ryuuzaki' though, I prefer the anime version… tee hee hee… Oh and I don't own Death Note, not at all and never will.

Review please. Motivate me more. Let me make the next chapter as soon as possible. Domo… ^_^
