Hi peoples!

The Dark Phantom:: Book One: Growing Pains:: Chapter 3
11th Aug.
"DANNY TIME TO GET UP."
Said child looks up from the little red rocket he just landed. A glance to confirm that, yes, his hair is black. He settles his gaze on the woman that stops in the doorway. She squints her eyes and tilts her head at the empty doorway.
"We still need to replace your door?"
As he nods, she shakes the confusion off.
"Well, come on down to get breakfast; we need to pack the Fenton Family Ghost Assault Vehicle."
Following her as she enters the kitchen, he can smell pancakes and see plates on the table. She places some syrup in a maple leaf-shaped container in the center of the table, as Danny hops onto his seat.
Jazz walks in as the adult is splitting pancakes. Jazz's hair is flying everywhere. She is wearing a frown as she flops onto her chair and crosses her arms. Jack bounds into the room and plops himself next to a tower of pancakes.
"Looking good, Mads!'
Jack proceeds to drown the stack in syrup and digs in, causing food to go flying everywhere. Jazz glares at him and proceeds to repeatedly stab her pancakes with a fork. Danny sits there, munching on pancake pieces like popcorn, as though watching a movie.
"Danny, Jazz, you put your bags into the G.A.V., then there will be a pile of ecto-guns for you to put NEATLY into the G.A.V. Jack, you are going to help me bring up the ecto-guns we want to show off at the convention; bring the smallest one up first. NOW GET TO IT!"
"YES MADDIE!"
Jack shouts before lumbering down into the Lab. The kids trade glances, while Maddie follows.
The sun kisses the tree line as a white head of hair breaches the top of the pool. A pair of arms drag his small body to the shore, the lower half has a white tail tipped with a green fin.
The mer-child props himself up, picturing legs that end with feet in place of the tail. Two legs and ten toes.
Tingling starts at the tip of the tail and goes upwards. The tingling of a limb that fell asleep. The tail splits becoming legs. The child smiles.
The sun is just starting to dip below the horizon when Maddie pokes her head out the back door.
"Come, Danny. Your father cannot wait another minute to get on the road."
Danny nods then gets up and follows the woman to the front of the house here the G.A.V. sits rumbling like a sleeping dragon.
Danny stirs from where his head rests on a pillow on some machines. Blue eyes blink open, looking at headphones resting over red hair and an ear. Her eyes flicker across the pages of her book. He can hear from the front: Jack's slurping and Maddie giving directions.
The darkness seems to seep into the vehicle as the youngest shifts and closes his eyes once again.
12th Aug
The sun is high in the sky as the G.A.V. rumbles to a stop. Maddie pokes her head around the seat.
"The boxes need to be taken out and over to the booth. Then the G.A.V. will need to be set up for tonight. The convention will open in an hour. Kids don't leave the hall and Jack; we will be setting up the booth. GO!"
Jazz and Danny slide off the seat then lift the top. Underneath are some flat boxes. They each grab one, Jazz leaves and heads to the back, while Danny pops open his. Opening the storage underneath the seat, he carefully puts the ecto-guns into the box.
About halfway through, Danny turns with an ecto-gun in hand to see a small blue light resting on the box. He blinks, then sets down the weapon.
"Wha you doing?"
The light just flicks and snuggles closer to the cardboard. He sighs.
"Blue, ge off."
It doesn't move, so Danny scoops it up and places it onto his head. Then he continues to pack away the ecto-weaponry.
Danny sits in the doorway next to his sister, watching as the adults run around. They grab all the boxes and sets them into a wheelbarrow.
"Everyone, let's go."
The woman states as she heads up to a large building.
The child and light wander through the grounds within the HUGE building. Lecturer's voices are heard over the crowd.
"The moon's phases are shown to affect certain ghost powers, this study explains the theory."
"THIS week seems to exponentially grow the powers of ghosts before they settle back into the power levels from before, according to this study."
"Different core types seem to prefer different seasons, shown in this study."
The Fenton's sit in a booth of a diner, the adults chatting away about all the things they learned, Jazz reading a book, and Danny staring out the window at the stars.
He lies wide awake between the two adults, his arms curled around Blue. Longing to be back at home, to swim and play in the trees.
13th Aug
The child blinks awake and finds himself trapped between two large shapes. He rolls off the side and calls upon the icy water as he phases through one of the large shapes and off of the seat turned bed. He lands on his back, facing the ceiling.
He scampers to his feet then darts off to the bathroom.
The woman turns to her other side and opens her eyes. Over the top of Jazz, she sees the youngest sitting in the passenger seat looking out the windshield.
She carefully extracts herself from the bed and walks to the child.
"What are you doing up?"
"Cloud looking."
"Okay, let me get your father and sister, and we can go get breakfast, k?"
He nods and goes back to cloud gazing, with one hand absently scratching the other arm.
Danny sits bored on some boxes as Maddie argues with someone over how ecto-weaponry is more effective on ghosts then say verses or holy water.
14th Aug
As the sun peaks just above the horizon, the small child jolts awake and stumbles through things and into the bathroom. As soon as he clears the door, the white rings snap open and change him.
He curls up onto the floor and whimpers. The heat even worse in his form.
Danny and Blue once again find themselves wandering the convention floor when they come across an emptier section.
They cross one booth that has a labeled cartoon diagram with two ghosts. (I'm gonna cut off here and say biology) Very quickly, the two make their escape and hear other things that make Danny even redder.
"While ghosts may be hell-bent on destruction, they supposedly have mates. Research shows that one separated from its mate will do anything to get it back."
"An emotionless being will do anything for one another simply because they are mated."
"An interesting theory is that ghosts may have destined mates."
The Fentons are sitting in a fast-food restaurant and consuming food when the oldest woman says: "Tomorrow we will leave early morning, so make sure you have everything packed tonight."
"But, Mads."
"No, Jack, today was the last day. We are not going to be kicked out of another convention.
15th Aug
The smallest child jerks awake, kicking at the older woman.
"Danny! What's wrong?"
A hand comes up to cover his mouth, and the other cups his stomach. The woman's eyes widen, and she grabs the child and vaults over her husband.
As soon as he is at the toilet, last night's dinner makes its way up. The woman gently rubs his back.
"Do you need anything? We don't have any crackers or soup."
He shakes his head; she gives him a sad smile and leaves.
Once she stops moving, the blue light makes its way into the bathroom. Turns on the cold water and starts splashing the water everywhere.
Danny lets out a relieved moan as the water hits his overheating skin. Then the tingling starts as the black tail replaces his legs. Danny spins around, lifts his fingers, and realizes he feels better.
He blinks, looks down at his tail, then back at Blue. The heat has lessened, though it is still lingering under his skin like a shark waiting to bite.
KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK
"Danny, we are ready to go. If you're feeling better, please come out."
Danny goes wide-eyed at Blue, then focuses on his tail.
"Danny? I'm coming in."
Maddie opens the door just as the slightly green human child stands.
"Oh, sweetie, you still don't look great. Do you think you can come sit in front for a while?"
He nodes and follows her.

Yo im liking the story so far has a nice feel but can get dark if needed. I think you should do option 3 where danny is the dark loner and has a crazy mechanic as a friend. Plus an idea for the crazy mechanic, you should let danny meet him when he is still young like 5 or 6 and hus name should be Aunty Jim cause every mechanic is named jim plus since he is a dude it will add to the crazy factor by calling him aunty. And danny will find this funny cause he's 6 then later on in life it can turn into an inside joke. But don't make it a transgender thing its just a joke to cheer up a sad kid from the nechanics point of view. Cause what im feeling from the story is that danny is basically invisible and will grow distant from his parents and later on not not recognize them as such cause they were never there for him.
I like both dark humor and light stories, so I am not surprised if that reflects in my writing. Also kinda like angst. Thank you so much for your vote, you swayed the voting pool actually. I love your idea for the mech, but this option already had the most devolved plot actually. I was already going to have Danny meet them at like the age of 4… You are so right about that, great minds think alike.

Hay you again! I love your username!
This one was harder to rewrite, but it's here! Also, Minecraft has taken over my life again.
