The Dark Phantom:: Book One: Growing Pains:: Chapter 5
27th Aug.
"Hey squirt, wasn't expecting you out this late."
"EM!" Danny shouts in response, then looks up at the sky, confused. "Late?"
"Well, I guess by that clock, it's not late, but you typically are gone from the shop by this time."
He gives her a surprised face, then starts to giggle.
She raises her eyebrow at him, "Oh? And what's so funny about that?"
He just continues to giggle. She huffs in amusement, "Well, sorry kid, I gotta get off to work, Bye."
She raises her hand as she walks away from the giggling child; once out of sight, she ducks behind a tree. She quietly moves behind trees until she can see the child.
As she walks away, Danny looks at Blue and points the way she came. "Shawps there."
Blue just continues to play in the tree branches. Danny shrugs and wanders further into the park, to the woods.
In the clearing with the pool, the child jumps into the pool. A gasp emerges from her as she darts out from behind a tree. She sees him just as the change completes.
"What. The. Hell." She breathes out, then timidly, "Danny?"
Danny jerks out of the water, going far enough to end up with only the tip of his tail still in the water. His head fins closed, and his eyes wide as he stares at her.
"I'm… sorry I startled you." She says, staring wide-eyed back at him.
"Why?" He asks with a bubbly voice that makes them both jump slightly.
Seeing him also jump from the sound of his voice, she tries to give him a smile.
"I was curious about you, so when I saw you, I followed you, hoping I would find out where you live, maybe learn about your family. This," she gestures to all of him, "was unexpected."
As she explains, he props up on his elbows. He tilts his head. "Fenton."
"You're saying… you're Daniel Fenton, the son of the resident paranormal scientists. How did…" she trails off, once again gesturing at him.
The child gives her a long look. Looks back at his pool, then at her again. "Pool."
"The… Pool… did that?"
He nods.
She lets out a whoosh of air. "You… look like a creature of legend. Maybe, a mermaid or siren. A creature… that lures sailors to their… death by singing enchanting songs or looking unnaturally beautiful." She looks thoughtful for a moment, then jumps, "Class!"
She turns on her heels, then glances back. "Need help getting back in?"
At the shake of his hand, she starts running towards town.
A young woman starts as she sees a small black-haired child walking down the street as he passes under a streetlight.
"What. The. Hell. Why is he out this late?" She asks quietly.
She follows as the small child wanders towards the park.
The child walks up to the base of a tree and looks up—the woman following blinks from the sudden bright light that encircles him, his waist.
Once her vision clears, she notices the missing child. A quick glance tells her he's not on the ground, so she looks up to see a white-haired child. She blinks once, twice, then turns and runs. The child's green eyes following.
Chapter Stats: 2 pages 551 words.

This chapter was the other part of chapter nine that was not in the last chapter. Also, the part of the previous chapter that I didn't know was still chapter nine.

Nice filler chapter, really helps Em and Danny form that bond. Also we meet Julia! Cant's wait to read more also do the one shots they could be fun but don't focus on them too much (I mean what good is a spin off if theres little source material). Also what was up with Blue talking? Did he actually talk or was it just in his mind, i got a little confused there. Also when are we gonna see Sam and will she completely ignore Danny or do what Tucker did (try and befriend him but get pulled away by the mini A-list).
First, sorry for forgetting about this when posting the last chapter. I had it all complete like three day before hand and just flat out forgot.
As for the fact that it is or is not a filler chapter, we'll see cause I can be quite a bitch at times. As for source material that is what this story is for in the first place cause I both love cannon and hate it.
Blue uses color to talk… Danny understands it better than anyone else, but then he is little. So when I say it is flashing something I mean that it is rapidly changing colors and Danny somehow understands it. As for why I call Blue it, Blue is genderless and if you couldn't tell by the whole dream sequence from some chapters before it might have been a kitten in life.
Sam is moving in first grade and will befriend Tucker, who is more acceptable than Danny as a friend, then get pulled into the A-list after they find out she is rich while still being Tucker's friend.
*Update*
Blue projects emotions to Danny then change color to communicate. There are also some chime-like noises.
Looking up more information about Sam, more likely than not she will appear in second or third grade and how she will act will depend on how she wants to. Also known as she may or may not try to befriend Danny.
