Anne sighed as she turned into the driveway, rubbing her eyes at seeing the Chrysler Pacifica. I guess Kim has company. She mused tiredly as she parked the car alongside it, removing the key from the ignition as she unbuckled her seatbelt. Closing the car door behind her, she wearily pressed the lock button on her remote as she trudged up the stairs to her front porch. Ugh, that last surgery was touch-and-go for a while. Taking the entrance key from her lab coat, she slid it into the keyhole and turned it until she heard the satisfying click. Pushing open the door, she took the key out of the keyhole and tossed it into the dish before locking the door behind her. The first thing she noticed was the light in the living room, soon followed by the duffel bags lined up against the wall. Sliding off her heels, she placed them to the side. "Good evening everyone." She called out, to which the post-secondary goers merely responded with an "Evening, Dr. Possible." Walking over to the living space, she smirked as she crossed her arms beneath her chest. "Kim, I thought you said that only Monìque and Tara were supposed to be over tonight." When the young redhead didn't answer right away, her cerulean orbs drifted over to the slumbering brunette in Kai's arms. Seeing the dried tear stains on her face, the neurosurgeon's jovial expression faded into a more somber one. "Alright, what's going on?"
The youth exchanged a glance amongst themselves before Tara spoke up. "Well Auntie Anne, it initially started with just Monìque and I being here." Looking to the expecting brunette, she sighed as she leaned back to place her hand on the Métis' thigh. "Then Briz called to tell us what happened when she told her mother about her pregnancy and how Lt. Rockwaller reacted to the news." The mother of three observed the downcast expressions in full understanding, noting with a light grin the way the noiret was delicately cradling the three-month-pregnant woman against his chest. Hearing the doorbell ring, the doctor excused herself to answer it. "Oh, hello Barbara. What brings you by?" the blonde cheerleader shifted briefly to pull her phone out of her jeans pocket, regarding the time displayed with a surprised look. "Hey Bon, when did you call your mother?" the turquoise-orbed student pursed her lips as she removed her Samsung from her own pocket, quickly unlocking her device and scrolling to the call log. "According to my call log, I called her twenty minutes ago." Hearing the front door close, the group of friends looked up to see Anne standing in the doorway with a duffel bag and a piece of paper. She placed the traveler case with the others before she came forward with the piece of paper. "Bonnie, your mother told me to give this to you." Once the young Health Major took it, she waved goodnight and departed upstairs to sleep after a long day.
All eyes were on Bonnie as she carefully opened the note, even Kai sat up a little straighter. Her eyes cursorily ingested what was written before she handed it to Kim. "Can I read what's in it?" the pensive brunette nodded as she leaned against Ron, who instinctively pulled her into a comforting hug. "Dear Bonnie, I know you believe that distancing yourselves from your father and I would be best for Brizenne. However, I beg to differ. Though your father went the wrong way about dealing with the situation, he meant well. We're not happy about what has conspired, but that doesn't mean we don't love your sister. Please come home so that we can discuss this in a more familial manner. With love, your mother." A moment of silence followed the vocalization, the atmosphere suddenly heavy with mixed emotions. "Familial manner, my ass." Brittanya yawned as she shifted against her makeshift bed, causing her to become the centre of attention once again. "Sorry Brit, did we wake you?" queried the redhead guiltily, to which the aforementioned shook her head with a soft smile. "No, I've been drifting in and out of sleep for a while now." Casting a cursory glance around the room, she sighed as she wearily threaded her fingers through her hair. "That's Mom's way of saying that they don't want me to grow an affinity for my unborn child." Monìque sighed as she huffed, "So, they're tryna get rid of what's rightfully yours?" the mother-to-be nodded stiffly as she placed her hand above her stomach. "There's no way that I'm gonna let that happen." Kai growled darkly, his arms drawing her closer to himself. The Royal Assassin sighed as she used her free hand to move the Native-mixed male's to rest on her stomach. "And I know you wouldn't, Kai." Looking to her friends, she pushed herself out of his embrace as she caught sight of the time displayed on the wall in the kitchen. "I think that quarter-to-eleven is a good time to sleep." furrowing her brow, she added in a motherly tone, "Besides, you all look like you could use the rest." Shuffling over to the pile of duffel bags, she couched down to retrieve hers.
