Once the game is over, the king and the pawn go back into the same box.

In the end, she supposes, none of it matters, because she's just where she was before: Poised between sacrifice and selfishness, both sides so tempting, neither without its downside.

Technically, she's no longer vulnerable and helpless. She saved them all; she had the strength necessary to play the hero for once, to save those she loves.

And yet, it's all been a gigantic game of chess. She started as the pawn, finished as the queen. But she'll still end up in that same box.

-sigh- STILL don't own Twilight...

Very short, like everything I write seems to be lately. One hundred words exactly (I trimmed it down a little; it was at 101 when I finished). The quote is from the same site where I got the inspiration for "Purposes and Wishes", but this one comes from an Italian proverb, or so I'm told. Hope you like it! But whatever your opinion, I'd love if you told me in a review!

Oh, wow. i just checked, and with that above note, the piece is 201 words. MY AUTHOR'S NOTE WAS LONGER THAN MY DRABBLE. Wow, sad. And this is making it even longer... I'll shut up now. xD
