Red Rides And Retribution
A/N: Sorry about the delay. Life has been a little hectic. I will try to be regular, but I do apologise if I am not. Please enjoy this chapter. Thanks.
Chapter six
Lisbon's black car pulled up outside her apartment, and the two of them were ushered inside by Pike and Rigsby. Rigsby had a cut above his eye, which streamed blood down the left side of his face. Lisbon knew it wasn't as bad as it looked, but she handed him a rag all the same.
Jane looked out of the front window, and noted three bikes and riders stationed outside. "What happened back there?"
Rigsby looked at Lisbon. "The boss was under threat. Anything goes when that happens."
Jane looked at Rigsby. "Are those two guys okay?"
Rigsby nodded. "It was probably not even ten seconds. Just enough to divert the cops, but not long enough for either of us to get caught."
Jane looked confused, and Lisbon sighed. "The cops. They knew that we were there. The line is bugged, and the cops were very loosely watching the place. All would have gone well, but those guys ruined it all."
Jane nodded, and took of his suit jacket. Lisbon indicated he throw it over the nearest dining room chair, while she headed into a back room to get out of her dress.
When Lisbon was finally alone, she sank down onto the bed and rubbed her temples. The stress of the evening was bad enough, without this recent incident. On top of the last few days, she was lucky she hadn't actually gone mad. She unzipped the dress and tossed it onto the bed. She pulled on her jeans, and a dark grey t-shirt. She scrubbed her face, and then headed back to the lounge area.
Lisbon's apartment was small, with a two-seater dining table, a three-seater sofa, and a small kitchenette in the front room. The back room contained her bed, closet, and a tiny bathroom. It was all se needed, and she barely used it. Jane was sitting on the sofa, and he had his eyes closed. Rigsby headed over to Lisbon, and guided her into the kitchenette. "Boss," Rigsby whispered. "He can't go back home. Not until the heat is off."
Lisbon nodded. "I know, Rigger. The cops will know who he is, and watch his place until they are sure he won't go back."
Both of them nodded, and Rigsby left with Pike, leaving Lisbon and Jane alone in the small apartment.

Detective Samuel Bosco sat back in his chair. He and his partner had been following Teresa 'Trigger Lizzy' Lisbon for the evening, and had ended up in the middle of an incident. The two men sat opposite him on the other side of his desk. "So neither of you knew the woman or the man?"
Both men shook their heads. "We were out drinking," said one, named Donny Culpepper. "And I saw the woman and the man. They were just walking. Me and Adam, we walked past them. I turned, and saw that thing on her back. Recognized it as Outbackers. So I said something about it. Made a joke about this tough woman in a biker jacket. I mean, who wouldn't want to wear a piece of outbacker hard wear?"
Bosco turned to Adam Reed. "What happened next, Mr Reed?"
Adam Reed had a bruise on his cheekbone, and a spare rag wrapped around his hand. His knuckle had split. "Donny grabbed the woman's arm to stop her. I don't know, I guess we were just being stupid. Anyway, suddenly these two guys appear out of nowhere. They grab us. The woman and man disappeared, and these guys held us back. I swung my arm to get free, and hit the tall guy in the face. He let me go and hit me back. Suddenly, the sound of motorcycles revving was all we could hear. The men were gone, and we were alone as you guys arrived."
Bosco nodded. He stood up. "Stay here and wait for the uniform to release you."
Both men nodded as Bosco vanished into another part of the Northern Sacramento precinct. He found his partner hunched over a laptop viewing video footage. "What have you found, Gale?"
Detective Gale Bertram looked up. "The CCTV confirms what they say. And it looks like her alright. Don't recognize the man as one of her regular associates, but that is definitely the Boss."
Bosco bent down and watched the fight. It happened pretty much as the two men had said. When the gang appeared, Bosco could recognize several people. "Gale, we need to get this to South Sac right now."
Bertram nodded and closed the laptop. The two men headed back into the office and Bosco picked up his phone. He dialed a number, and held the phone to his ear.

Somewhere in the south of Sacramento, a police chief received a call he had been waiting for. He ended the call and stood up. He headed for the door and pulled out his own cell. He dialed the top number and spoke briefly to the person who answered. Things were falling into place.

Cho sat at his bar. His meeting had turned up nothing. Nobody was brave enough to own up to anything. He was worried, because people in his business would do anything to get into his position. He was keeping a close eye on his gang, and his most trusted men reported back at intervals.
A figure appeared at his side, and he turned to see a man standing there. It was Thomas 'Tank' Volker, and he was reporting back to Cho. Nothing much had happened, and Cho wasn't sure whether to be worried, or relieved. "Thanks, Tank."
Volker nodded and disappeared. Cho took a sip of his drink, and sat deep in thought. He picked up his phone. He had a few calls to make.
A/N2: thank you for reading and I hope you enjoyed. This is a shorter chapter. It is a scene changer. Please leave me a review. Thanks again.
