Chapter 12,
I run through the hallways and look in every room I can find. I can't find him and I don't know how much time we have left. I wish I was in a movie right now. The bomb says 1 minute and I'm running around for another hour…That would be perfect right now. 'Constantine Justine!' I turn around and see the Italian lady standing with a needle filled with greenish stuff. 'I don't have time for you.' I say and turn around to run again. 'You should make time for me.' I look over my shoulder and see how she injects herself with it. Her body is changing and I hear her scream. I look horrified how she changes in something slimy and stinking. She laughs and throws a slimy ball towards me. I jump into a room and lock the door. I look around and see a window. I take my chances! I run towards it and jump through it. What I didn't know was the part I would fall outside.
A beast catches me and I know immediately its Raymond. 'Where have you been? I was looking all over you!' I try to sound angrily but I know I don't. When we land on the ground Raymond changes back. From the corner of my eyes I see in slow motion the facility blowing up, as reaction I push Raymond away and catch the blow. I yell when the heat touches my back. When it's over I can't move. Raymond crawls away and curses. 'Constantine, can you move?' He asks carefully. 'No…I don't feel anything.' I whisper because it feels like I'm using too much strength to talk. He lifts me very careful of the ground and walks away to the others who are standing by the car.
He lays me down on the ground and I see Mallory crying. Actually everybody is crying. Raymond let himself fall on his knees and asks me if I'm okay. I blink with my eyes. 'Watch out!' Mallory yells. I hear a shot and someone falling. Raymond's eyes widen and I know she is dead. My best friend just got killed..'So we can do this the easy way or the hard way.' It's the captain. I recognize his voice. Raymond jumps up and screams he has to piss off and he will never get us back again. 'I DON'T CARE YOU ARE ALL COMING WITH ME OR I WILL SHOOT YOU ALL!' He talks with consumption…yuck.
I feel the urge to use my last bit of strength. I scribble up and pant while doing this. 'You…are…not…taking us back.' I pant. 'YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO BE DEAD ALREADY WITH THAT HOLE!' The captain yells and point his gun at me. I'm so tired and I feel so heavy but I try to focus. 'Why don't you shoot cap.? You know you want too, honoring your own made codes doesn't exist anymore does it?' I taunt him and take a step closer. 'Stay where you are' He warns me. When I take another step he shoots me in my chest. Raymond screams. 'I won't' I scribble up again and take another step closer. The captain jumps back and shoots me in my belly. I squeeze my jaws on each other and scribble up again. 'Keep shooting me, I don't care, you don't have bullets later and we are with more….we are stronger' I pant. He shoots his last 3 bullets in my body and I fall down. The others start hissing and I see eyes lighten up. 'Stay where you are!' he screams again. But this time they have enough courage and they run towards him, attacking and fighting him.
Raymond falls on his knees and supports my head. 'Constantine you stupid woman…I can't save you this time…' He whispers, letting a tear roll from his cheek. 'It's fine…actually I think…we are even now' My eyelids feel heavy and I pant because I have a short on oxygen. ' I will miss you' He whispers. 'I know…stupid..macho…dude' I smile weakly. 'Goodbye…Raymond' He kisses my forehead and whispers his goodbye. I close my eyes and let the flow of darkness pull me away from my body.
