Today, like any other weekday, I woke up to the sound of my phone's alarm. It's been the same thing since I got it two years ago. Right now, it was just the worst sound in the world. I was up too late.
My phone had a message on it. My boss said it was fine if I stayed home, so I basically woke up for nothing. I heard rain on the roof. Nobody likes going out to eat on a rainy day. I know I don't. Normal people don't go out in the rain anyways.
I thought about last night. I didn't die, which is nice. There weren't any holes where my kidneys should be.
I walked out to the living room with a yawn. Oh yeah, I brought home a Russian drug lord. She was sleeping soundly on the couch, a thin, yet warm blanket covering her.
Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy?
I wanted to learn more about her situation from her, but it certainly wasn't reason enough to wake her. I can wait.
With nothing else to do, I took a quick shower and put on some fresh clothes. With consideration to my guest, I got the clothes first and brought them into the bathroom before I showered.
She was still asleep by the time I got out. Which she had every right to be, of course.
Guess I'll just get something to eat.
I went back into the kitchen and poured myself a bowl of cereal. The soft pitter-patter of rain and the clanking of my metal spoon against the glass bowl were all I could hear.
It was a small bowl that was soon emptied. I didn't really want a second bowl right now. I drank the milk and rinsed it out.
I was just waiting for her. Waiting... waiting... waiting... This is creepy. I hope she wakes up soon so I can stop feeling so awkward. Still asleep. Now what?
I didn't have any reasonable ideas right now. Chores were loud. Instead, I grabbed a chair and opened my laptop. If I looked like I wasn't watching her sleep, it wouldn't be as creepy. Right?
She started to stir about half an hour later. She rubbed her eyes and stared at her hands, still questioning whether or not this was real. She looked towards me.
"Good morning, Princess."
"So it is." She sat up, her blanket falling into her lap. Her hair had lost some of yesterday's brilliance due to bedhead. She gave off a yawn and looked at me with sleepy eyes. "I'm still alive." she said, as if she had really expected me to do her in.
An astute observation. "Yep. Did you sleep well?"
"It was the same as any other, I suppose."
"That's good... That's good..." That was enough small talk. "So... let's talk." I set my laptop down and looked at her. This time, I was waiting for her to start.
She rubbed her eyes again and stretched her body out. "Alright." she yawned, "You wouldn't have happened to think of anything that could help me, would you?"
"No. Nothing realistic, at least."
"What about the unrealistic?"
"Well, I guess if you want, we could search around for that mirror."
"Why isn't that realistic?"
"There's just a lot to get through. It's a big town for that kind of thing."
"Do you think there's a way for me to go back to Equestria?"
"No idea. Doubt anything here can help you."
"Then what should I do?"
"I don't know. I don't think there's much you really can do, Princess."
"Do I just stay with you?"
"If you want. You're free to leave anytime, though."
"That's not what I meant. I'm grateful for this. I just don't want to impose on you."
"It's no problem to me, Princess. Just try not to break anything."
She smiled. "I'll try. Yesterday... you said that you believed that I was Princess Celestia. You said that I had 'convinced' you."
"Yeah, I believe you."
"Why about when you invited me here? Did you believe me then?"
"I gave you the benefit of the doubt. If anything, it would just be my mistake. This is kinda scary, though."
"Scary? How could I scare you? You're a lot bigger than I am."
"No, not that. Well, not exactly that. It's scary because you're not from this world."
"I don't understand."
"You're Princess Celestia. You're the Princess Celestia. You're something I never thought was... real. Your voice, your hair, your eyes, your mannerisms, your emotions... It's like some kind of fairy tale or storybook. It's not normal. That's what scares me."
"You're not alone when you say you're scared. I can't use magic here. I can't contact my sister. I may not even be able to go back home at all. It makes me feel so... helpless."
"You'll go back soon, Princess. You'll see." I smiled at her. "I know what'll cheer you up. Ice cream!"
"Ice cream?" she smiled and started to laugh, "Ice cream... That sounds amazing."
"Great! Wait here."
I went back out to the kitchen, pulling out some bowls and spoons. I retrieved a half-eaten tub of cookie dough ice cream from the freezer in the bottom of the fridge.
I tried to scoop some out, but only ended up bending a spoon.
I showed the spoon to Celestia. She giggled. I like that sound. After that, I just bent it back.
I waited a little while for it to thaw, but not long enough. It was still hard to get through. Eventually, I had filled the two bowls.
I gave her one of them. She slid over on the couch, pulling the blanket with her. She smiled at me, gesturing to the empty spot with her head. I sat down next to her, making sure I was closer to the edge than I was to her. I still wasn't sure whether it was alright if I was close to her, yet.
As I sat, I noticed small bloodstains on her pants. That's right, she fell... "Hey, did you want to clean those, or... put a bandage on them or something?" I asked, pointing to her knees.
She pulled up her pant legs. They were somewhat loose, so they easily slid past her knees. There was a lot of dried blood, but she didn't seem to mind. She licked her thumb and wiped some of it away. "It's nothing to worry about."
"Sure? Alright."
She pushed her pant legs back down.
I retrieved my laptop again. She stared at the screen as I opened it again.
"This is called a laptop." I said, "A portable computer."
"Computer?"
"Right... Let me see... How can I explain it? It's a personal data storing and accessing device. That's not a very good explanation..." I opened up the 'computer' article on Wikipedia and gave it to her. "Careful, it's kind of expensive."
She silently read what the screen said, then looked at the keyboard. She tapped the down arrow and more text showed up, as it should. She was learning how to use it rather well.
"This is a lot to take in. You humans are amazing." She intently read the article. "Wow..."
"There's a lot more information than that on just about everything. See that bar up there?" I pointed to the URL bar. "That tells you what website you're on. Right now, you're on Wikipedia, which is... what was it... It's pretty much the most complete public knowledge database we have. The world's best free encyclopedia."
"I hope you're not expecting me to know what you're talking about."
"Right..."
She continued her reading.
What is the ruler of Equestria doing on earth? Why is she even here? She doesn't really seem to mind being here, but she was all sad earlier. Why's this pretty lady in my house? Did I die or something? This has to be some kind of divine punishment.
I looked to her. Normal. Almost normal. In terms of looks, not normal at all. She was too perfect to be normal. A perfect human being. Hehe... Boobies...
She seemed content right now, but I was sure doubt was still circling around in the back of her mind.
I had completely believed her. It was a bit much to delve this far into a fandom just to rob someone, and she was pretty coherent when I found her, if a bit shaken up. Even if she was insane, I guess it would be fine with me. Something in my head told me that she was real, and I'm not usually a gullible person. I don't think, at least.
"You're staring at me." she said, glancing over to me. It didn't even sound like she cared that I was staring.
"Sorry."
I looked away. I was clueless, but she seemed happy. If someone else was happy, then I would be happy with them.
She was learning more about computers right now.
"Why am I here?" she suddenly asked, "I don't mean this world, but here, in your house? I don't mean any offense by this, but you don't seem to be all that special. Why were you the one to find me?"
"I dunno. I don't think there is a real reason. I'm not exactly the best person out there, and by no means am I a saint. So, if there was a reason, it's definitely not my personality. There can't be a real reason for it."
"I'm beginning to think the same thing. But... Why here? And why now?
"What was the last thing you remember?"
"It was just another normal day. I had bid my sister goodnight and I had fallen asleep. There was nothing out of the ordinary."
"What about Twilight Sparkle? Do you think something she did had anything to do with it? What did she do last?"
"I don't know. I'm sure that she would've told me had something happened."
I shrugged. "Nothing really to explain any of this then, is there?" I gave some thought to a few possible reasons, but none of them really made sense. Didn't really expect them to.
"Will I live here with you until it's time for me to leave?"
"It's all up to you, really. If not... I don't actually know. Never really had that problem."
"I'm finding it comforting to be here, but... isn't it strange to you?"
"Well, yeah. This whole thing is strange."
"That's not exactly what I meant. An unwed man and woman living in the same house. Isn't that indecent?"
"Is it bad in Equestria?"
She shook her head. "Some of our societies view it as indecent. I don't."
"Well, does it make you feel uneasy?"
"No, I'm fine. I was just curious."
"Then it's fine." I briefly glanced at her before letting out a sigh. There isn't a whole lot I could do for her right now.
And so, I waited. I didn't know what exactly I was waiting for, but I still waited.
She gave the laptop back to me and stood up. She stretched herself out. "Do you have anything for me to eat? Other than ice cream."
"Yeah, there's some stuff. The cupboard by the fridge has some food in it. Just pick something that looks good, I guess."
She started walking to the kitchen, then paused. "Humans eat meat, right?"
"Yeah, most of them. Is that a problem?"
"Ponies don't eat meat. We're close to the animals. They're... our friends. I can't imagine killing them for food."
"I dunno. It's just always been that way."
"Our diet is vegetarian. Vegetarian and copious amounts of sweets. I understand that meat is an acceptable source of food here, but I do not want to eat it."
"Alright. No prob. I can get a little stock of veggies and the like later. For now, just go ahead eat whatever you find. I got plenty of stuff that you'll like. Probably."
"Thank you."
She walked through the doorway. I picked up our two now empty bowls and followed her out of the room. I rinsed them out as she opened the fridge.
It was pretty boring in there. I didn't buy extravagant or expensive food. There was an old pizza in there, though. Old pizza sounds kinda good. I joined her.
"This is almost depressing." she said to me as I grabbed a piece from the box.
"Really?"
"Is this all you have?"
"I don't like having a lot of food. I eat a lot when I'm bored."
She chuckled. "You and I are the same in that regard. I suppose I expected more. The royal kitchen is filled to the brim with the best of the best, but here, I wouldn't be surprised to see mold."
"Hey, that's rude." I took a bite of my cold pizza. "I don't let my food get moldy."
"Your pizza is moldy."
I looked at it with my jaw hanging. She let out a small laugh.
"You've swindled me."
"Sorry." she said, a pleasant smile on her face.
"I got some carrots down there." I pointed to one of the drawers in the fridge. "Meat's in the other one, so you don't need to open it. I don't think I have any fruit right now." I got myself a glass of apple juice while she reached into the pizza box. Apple juice is great.
She inspected it, then took a bite. "Better than I thought it would be."
"It's better fresh."
"One would think." She closed the door.
So we both stood there, eating cold pizza. She didn't seem to mind. Neither did I.
"So the rest..." She swallowed the piece in her mouth. "Sorry. So the rest of your food is in here?" She pointed to the cupboard next to the fridge.
"Yep. And that one over there has cereal." I pointed to the cupboard underneath and to the right of the sink. "And... I think ramen and mac and cheese. The big stuff."
"What's in this one?" She pointed to the one above the microwave.
"You can look, you don't need my permission to open stuff in the kitchen."
She smiled like a kid in a candy shop. Almost immediately, she started to go through the cupboards, learning where stuff was if she needed it.
"Having... fun?"
"Uh..." She closed the cupboard she had opened. "Sorry. I got a little excited, is all."
"Over cups and forks?"
She gave off a small, embarrassed laugh. "It's not every day I see the inside of someone's house. I'm usually never in the kitchen, especially when I'm away from the castle. But this is... Well, it's a little disappointing."
"Hey."
"Sorry, I just expected more. Do you like it like this?"
"It does the job." I rinsed out my empty cup and put it upside-down in the sink. It's just a cup. Cups can be used again. Speaking of dishes, I gotta wash the dishes.
"If you want more food, we can head to the store. It'd be nice if you had some things to snack on while you're here, don't you agree?"
She nodded.
"Also, I need some more... stuff, so I guess I'm going regardless."
She stared at me as she took another bite of her pizza.
"You seem to be adjusting rather well to this."
"I've done with little before. I don't need luxury."
"Really? I thought you were always like that."
"Not always. Until my sister and I discovered the Elements of Harmony, we weren't royalty. After Discord had been defeated, we were made proper Princesses of Equestria."
I nodded. "Will your sister be fine without you? And everyone else, too. Will Equestria be alright without you?"
"My sister is a fine leader in her own right. They should be fine without me. It's a bit sudden, but they're capable. Equestria is capable."
I smiled at her. "Well, at least they aren't alone. They have all their friends with them. And even if something goes wrong, you still have Discord on your side."
"I suppose."
"What was with that, anyways? Why did you need him?"
"That's... something I'd rather not discuss with you."
"Alright, then. Still hungry?"
"Somewhat."
I nodded. She got another piece of pizza from the fridge.
"You know, usually people eat cereal or toast for breakfast. I don't usually have pizza and ice cream in the morning." I said.
She smiled at me.
She took another bite of the pizza before turning towards the doorway. As she ate, she wandered, randomly walking through my house. I kept a close-ish watch on her. Granted, there wasn't a lot she could look for. It was a one bedroom, one bathroom home with a basement. Even so, she explored the house that she had slept in. It seemed like she was habitually attempting to use magic to grab things and open doors, only to fail.
She was bracing herself on the walls around her to walk. It seemed like she was slowly learning how to walk as a human.
Nothing really caught her attention until she got to my room. She stared at my door. I nodded at her, then she opened it. A bed, a little shelf next to it, and a dresser. Notably boring. I walked in after her and saw a brief look of disappointment on her face.
She looked at the closet door, then to me. "Don't go in there. It's a huge mess. Something could fall on you if you open it. It's on my list to organize it." It might actually be that messy. I don't remember when I opened it last. Right now, I didn't want her going through my mess.
She shrugged, then continued to look around.
She looked at another door in the front room, but didn't seem too interested in it. I think the excitement ran out. It was just my basement, though. I had a gaming computer down there, and a washing machine and dryer. And another couch.
"You seem disappointed." I said to her.
She sighed. "I know it's not my place to say this, but your house is boring."
I shrugged. "It's practical. You've seen everything but the basement."
"Why is the basement door so thick?" she asked. Guess she already knew what was behind the door. "The other doors are rather thin. It doesn't even match the style of your house."
"Basically the only possessions I value are down there. I'll show you later. Right now, I think it's a good time to get some extra food. Do you want to come with?"
"I suppose so. It should be an interesting experience."
"Alright, then."
I headed into the kitchen for my keys, then into my room for my phone. With these, we headed outside. I locked the door behind us. It was just out of habit at this point.
I paid attention to the Princess as she walked. If she needed help, I was ready. Fortunately, the short trip from the house to the car proved to be no issue to her.
Celestia didn't like my car. She was hesitant to even touch it. "Are you... absolutely sure that this is safe?" she asked me.
"I drove fine last night, didn't I?"
"I don't know. Yes?"
"You can stay here if you want."
"No, it's... It's fine." She got in, same as yesterday.
I opened my door, then paused as I saw the white bag on the backseat. I forgot my new headphones in here. Whatever. I grabbed the bag and hid it under my seat.
I started the car. The engine noises fascinated her. Maybe she would be interested in seeing the engine.
There was a Woodman's store not too far from my house. It was on the same side of town, at least. It would have everything we would want or need to buy in terms of food.
As is the norm in most societies, the town was a lot busier during the day. She looked all around, almost like a kid, silently taking all the details around her. Now that it was daytime, she could actually see the rest of the world.
Hmm... Now that I think about it, she might actually be here for a while. If she spends more than a few days here, she's probably going to want to shower, which means she'll need a change of clothes.
I asked her about it. Her reply surprised me. "This may sound like a strange question, but couldn't I wear your clothes?" she asked.
"What? You're a Princess. You shouldn't even have to touch my clothes."
"Well, it doesn't bother me too much. I'd rather not make you buy something for me if I don't need it."
"Are you serious?"
"Is there... something wrong with that? Oh, I'm sorry! I didn't know. Is... Is that a human thing?" she seemed worried that she may have offended me.
"No, no, it's... I mean... would you really want that? I mean... really, Princess? I just didn't expect you to be so..." I didn't really have a word for it right now.
"I don't want to be more of a burden than I already am. As I've said, I've lived with little, before. You clean your clothes, don't you? What's the difference?"
"Well, if you really want to, I guess. That doesn't change the fact that you'd need underwear."
"You have underwear, don't you?
"Well that's... Princess, that's gross."
"Do you not wash your clothes?"
"It's the principle, alright. I don't want you wearing my underwear. Besides, I'm a man. I don't have everything women wear."
"What do you mean?"
I did not want to talk about women's underwear with Princess Celestia, but right now, it was a bit unavoidable. "You, uh... There are two parts to women's underwear. The... Well, there's... And don't quote me on this, 'cause I've never really looked into it... But women have two parts to their underwear... panties and bras. I do not own any bras... and while you can wear men's underwear, which would... match up with the bottom part of the two, the, um... the panties... I think the difference is... that... panties are... more... form fitting? Maybe. Just... And..."
She thought about it, then said, "So this one is a bra?" She lightly pulled on her bra strap underneath her shirt collar, making her chest jiggle.
Oh, boy... "Yeah, that's a bra. I'm actually not entirely sure they're required, but..." The longer I held this conversation, the more difficult it got to even talk. I didn't even need to say these things. "Your... boobs... breasts are pretty big. A bra is for support. I... think. I don't wear them. I wouldn't know." I do not want to have to tell her that her boobs were big ever again. This conversation was painful.
"Breasts?" She poked her chest. "These?"
"Don't do that. It's not... It-it's not... proper... Not... appropriate..." I was treating her like a kid...
She seemed to get the gist of what I was saying. "Oh. Well, they do seem pretty heavy." She was making light of the situation. I'm pretty sure she knew how awkward it was for me to say those things.
"B-besides, I'm sure you'd like a robe, as well."
"That does sound nice. Thank you."
"Of course, Princess."
"Just... just Celestia is fine."
"Alright then... Celestia... Well, since we're getting you clothes, I'm gonna take us back over to Wal-Mart. That alright with you? There aren't any clothes at the store we were going to."
"Of course." she replied.
And so, I changed my destination to Wal-Mart. We had to take the longer route since driving towards Woodman's was out of the way, but I didn't mind.
I parked my car about midway through the parking lot. "Are you ready, Princess... Celestia?"
She looked at the building. Many, many people of all shapes and sizes were walking in and out of it. "I'm ready."
The two of us got out of the car and started walking towards the building. Celestia took slow, careful strides, making sure she was steady after each step. Like before, I was ready to catch her if she made a mistake. She looked up at the building in awe as we walked in. I retrieved a cart after we entered.
She was almost clung to me while we walked through the store, as if she were scared. Her hand was on the cart almost the entire time. There'd be no reason for her to avoid others, but she did. I think she wasn't used to walking just yet. On the other hand, maybe seeing so many people like this was a shock to her. All she knew here was what I had showed her.
I collected various things from various isles. It wasn't any different from normal shopping, except that I felt strange. With Celestia in tow, my entire experience was shifted from normal to exciting. It was so strange. She studied the foods that we walked by and stared at the people we passed. Throughout the whole thing, a smile was on her face.
After we had picked out the food, it was time to pick out clothes for her.
I brought her to the clothing area in the store.
"Hey, I don't know how much women's clothes really cost, so... don't go crazy."
"Phil, I don't need all this. It's alright."
"Don't worry about it, Celestia. All I'm thinking about is you heading home sooner than later. That happens, I'll have to return what you get, which at most would just be a minor inconvenience.
"Well... If you're sure, I suppose..."
Now that I think about it, we should've gotten the clothing first. I was gonna be lugging around a cart with food in it the whole time we were looking.
Celestia looked at the clothing available to her. She picked out one shirt because she liked the design, and a few cheap pairs of pants, along with a skirt after seeing that one of the mannequins was wearing one.
She was just like a kid.
"Think those will fit?" I asked her, talking about the pants she got.
"I have no idea!" she said excitedly, a smile on her face.
"Alright, well there's a fitting room over there. You can try on what you got there."
"Oh, how useful."
"And make sure you're comfortable in them, alright?"
"Of course, of course."
I brought her over to where I thought it was, but I was a bit off. Thankfully, there were signs posted to lead us to it.
She took the clothes she picked out into the room.
I guess I just had to wait. There was a lady who worked here sitting just outside the changing station, watching for people who might want to snatch clothes. She smiled at me. I smiled back. What a nice lady.
After a while, Celestia came back out, clothes in her arms.
"Pick out the right clothes?" I asked.
She nodded. "Must be luck. I noticed something, though. The clothes I'm wearing now don't have any size tags."
"Really? Weird. Oh well."
She returned the clothes to the cart. Now she had to get underwear...
She just smiled awkwardly at me. She knew.
Hmm... Maybe...
I asked the lady at the changing station if she could help Celestia pick out some delicates. At first, she refused, but with some brief convincing from Celestia, she changed her mind.
I very much did not want to be involved with this part of the shopping experience.
I was completely sure that they did not have any bras in Celestia's size.
A few minutes later, Celestia and the worker returned. Celestia had clothes in her arms, including a bathrobe, like I had suggested.
Other than the robe, I had no idea what she got. I didn't touch them, I didn't check the prices, and I didn't look at them. I wanted to though. Quite a lot. Even more so if they were already on her. It didn't feel right to me. She didn't care at all.
"You're so embarrassed." she said, almost laughing at me.
"Oh, shut up."
We were done shopping, as far as I knew. I just trusted her judgement that she got the right size. I started walking towards the front of the store, pushing the cart along with me.
"That lady said that these were the largest size they had, but they still may not fit me."
I knew it. "Well, I hope they're comfortable, then."
"This was fun. We should come here often."
"Why are you acting like this?" I asked her, suddenly adopting a more serious tone.
"What do you mean?"
"You're... just... happy. It's like you don't even care. I'm over here freakin' out and you're just... calm."
"If I'm going to remain here, then I may as well enjoy myself. Is there something wrong with it?"
"No, it just seems weird to me. I like your attitude though. It's really nice to see you happy."
She smiled. "Thank you. For that and for... this." She gestured to the cart.
As we walked down the aisle to pay, we got a few strange looks. Food and clothing felt like a strange purchase.
Bras were a lot more expensive than I thought they would be. I mean, they were within an acceptable price range, but still...
I paid for what we got with my card. Hurt my wallet a bit, but he'll recover. We were within my expected price range.
I had money. I had enough money to live comfortably. I usually tried to save as much as I could, and with my limited lifestyle, I've saved up a lot. Enough to buy clothing for someone without thinking twice about it. My father was an impulse buyer, and I learned from him. I learned the benefits of simply not buying superfluous things.
I packed the food and clothes into the trunk as Celestia sat in the car. After returning the cart, I joined her. We went back to my home.
I pulled into my driveway. The two of us got out of the car.
"Go ahead and head inside." I said to her, handing her my keys. The house key was singled out so she knew which one it was.
"Are you sure? You don't want me to help?"
"You're a Princess, you don't need to help."
"I'm not a Princess here."
"Then... You're my guest. Guests don't have to work."
"Well, if you say so."
She headed to the door and went inside.
This time, I remembered the headphones I had bought.
I actually had a pair of headphones already. They lasted me a few years already and were still going strong. The new pair that I got yesterday I've heard were pretty good, so I wanted to test it out while it was still on sale. Of course, that didn't work out, but still.
This would take a trip or two. I went back and forth from the house and my car, silently regretting letting Celestia stay inside.
She looked over her new clothing while I brought in what I bought.
With the last bag, I finally closed the trunk. I brought it into the kitchen with the rest of the food and started putting it all away.
"Where should I store these clothes?" she asked me, standing in the doorway.
"Oh. Good question. I guess I could clear out a drawer in my dresser for you." I said. I was already acting as if this was normal, and that's not normal.
After I put the food away and cleaned up the mess of bags, I went to my room. I removed the top drawer of my dresser and dumped it into one of the lower drawers. Problem solved.
She began neatly placing her clothes inside. Seemed like there was enough room.
"This is surprisingly fun." she said to me as she put the clothes away.
"Really?"
"I'm beginning to really enjoy myself. I think I'm starting to warm up to you."
"That's nice to hear, Princess."
"Please, Celestia is fine. Now that I have new clothing, I'm free to bathe here, right?" she asked.
"Uh... yeah sure. Just lock the door behind you."
"Alright. And... thank you."
"Yeah."
She grabbed her new robe, and walked into the bathroom. The water started running.
I sat on the couch. I think the reality was starting to set in.
Well, I think I snapped. I have gone loco in the coco. Mmm... cocoa... Oh well. It had to happen someday. Is this a punishment for something? I try to be nice. I stared blankly at the wall. The nicest, most beautiful woman in the world is using my bathtub. It's probably not a punishment. There has to be some kind of an explanation for this.
I sighed and calmed myself down. Whatever...
I waited for a while, not really doing anything. I don't think I was supposed to just be waiting for her to get out. Felt weird, but it's not like it was there was anything else to do. About thirty or so minutes later, she walked back out, wearing the robe, with a towel on her head.
"What should I do with my old clothes?" she asked me.
"Just toss them downstairs. I'll clean them when I get around to it."
"Alright, then."
She returned to the bathroom and retrieved the old clothes to put downstairs.
"Just... toss them?"
"As long as they're down there, I'll get to them."
She opened the door and threw her clothes down.
"Certainly not something I do often." she said to me, closing the door. She sat next to me on the couch and smiled at me.
I have never actually seen anybody wear a robe in real life. This was weird. On more than one level.
"Hey Celestia... are you really alright?"
"Hmm? You mean... about the clothes? Yeah, it's alright."
"No, about... just... being here. Staying here with me. Are you sure you're alright with that?"
"Phil, I'm fine. You don't have to worry about me."
"Well I... want to."
"I do appreciate it, but it's unnecessary."
"Alright then. Can you put some clothes on? Please?"
"Oh. Sorry."
She stood back up and went into my room. She came back out later with a new set of clothes on. Compared to before, her pants were tighter around her hips, her shirt was tighter around her chest and... her new bra was definitely too small. She had bare feet right now. She was drying off her wet hair with the towel.
I shouldn't have said anything.
"I suppose they're comfortable. A bit small, maybe. They were alright at the store. How strange. I liked my old clothes, though. My underwear didn't have any size indicators, either."
She sat next to me on the couch once more. "Is this all you do?" she asked.
"I do stuff. You know, like chores and... Speaking of... I should do dishes."
I stood up and headed into the kitchen. She followed me, watching what I did. How was this interesting to her?
I got them done pretty quickly, but honestly, I just wanted to waste time. I started doing some more housework now that I was in the mood for it. I took the day off, but I'm still working.
She was watching me as I worked, typically standing near the doorway of the room I was in or otherwise standing or sitting out of the way.
The rest of the day passed without much of anything else happening. Celestia and I spoke every so often, but we didn't really talk about anything interesting.
Towards the end of the day, I approached her.
"Hey Celestia, tomorrow I gotta get back to work."
"Oh. What about me?"
"I don't know. You'll be fine here, right?"
"Of course I'll be fine, I was just asking if you had a plan for me."
"Not really. You can always use my laptop if you get bored. I'm sure you'll get bored here."
"Actually, it's more exciting than Equestria usually is."
"Really? If you say so. And if you want, I can sleep on the couch. You can take my bed."
"Please, I'm just a guest here. I don't want to..." She gave up. "Thank you. That's very kind of you."
I nodded. "Is there anything else you'd like, Celestia?"
She gave me a warm smile. "Phil."
I smiled back. "Just had to make sure."
"Today was fun. If you don't have any complaints, I think I'll head to bed, now."
"Yeah, of course Princess... Celestia."
She kept her smile on her face as she disappeared into my bedroom. She was happy, so I was happy.
Yeah... I'm crazy.
