Bella's POV
Everything happened so fast. I was so worried when I decided to bring Percy down to La Push for the bonfire. Ever since I noticed Jake visibly quiver with jealousy when Percy and I first pulled up. I just wanted to try and make Percy happy again. I vaguely remember how he always loved the water, or anything that happened to be blue, when we were kids playing. I thought he would absolutely love coming down to La Push. He even looked more similar to the natives then I was.
Everything was going well and all hell broke loose. I was confused, shocked and irritated when Sam accused Percy of not being human. Then to make matters worse, Paul had to literally explode. My confusion and shock comes from the fact that instead of cower in fear or show any semblance of being scared, Percy demeanor visibly change from being his joyful self to something to a frightening vengeful spirit. Plus the fact that he pulled a sword out of nowhere and actually fought the raging wolf.
The most shocking and irritating thing was when Leah and Seth showed up. Seth appeared to be usual jovial self. He even appeared to having met Percy before. Leah on the other hand was looking like her usual pissed off self. That quickly changed as Percy ran into her as he was getting away from Paul. As he quickly helped her up, they both met eyes and visibly stilled. Heck, the entire attendance froze in shock besides the Quileute's helping Paul. When Jake told me that Leah imprinted on Percy I was visibly livid.
"How could you," I shouted brushing by Jake. Leah appeared frozen for brief seconds before she rounded on me.
"Shut up," Leah shouted, "Shut up. You have no right getting involved with affairs you don't understand."
"Understand, no right," I shouted venomously, "I have every right to get involved. He is my cousin and the only reason he came to Washington was to get over heartbreak."
"You are so fucking ignorant," Leah shouted after a minute. I noticed that her facial express looked pained when I mentioned why Percy was here. "If you truly knew what imprinting meant then you would have stung Jacob along. You have known this entire time that he had feelings for you, and you constantly string him along. You such a filthy Leech lover."
Before I can retort, I felt solid hand clamp down on my shoulder. Following the arm up to its body. I noticed that it was Jacob. Guilt washed through me as I finally realized what Leah just said.
"Just don't," he said noticing the questions and guilt pouring from my eyes, "let me give you a ride home? The parties over."
"Get that filthy leech lover out of here," I heard Paul spit out, "figures all of her family are freaks too."
Jacob Held me back as I rounded on Paul, but the words fell short looking around, I noticed everything was ruined. Most of the pack were gathered around Paul. Sam had reprimanded him or Emily did anyway as she cleaned his face. The entire top half of his body was covered in blood as the pack lifted him up and carried him towards the house. The elders were silently conversing as they cleaning up some of the mess. Sue Clearwater was over conversing with Leah. Leah's face looked torn between anger and pain as her mother tried to calm her.
As Jake steered me away, Leah looked over in my direction. She quickly looked away as she spun around and ran into the forest.
On the way back to Charlie's, I tried several times to start up a conversation with Jake, but to no avail. Every time, he would shut me down in ways that I felt compelled to listen. After a while, we made it back to Charlie's. The cruiser was in the drive and the only light came from the living room. Charlie must be watching one of the rerun games. We pulled noiselessly into the driveway, well as noiselessly as that truck could get, and stopped the car. Jacob got out first and helped me out of my side.
"Jake," I pleaded, "please talk to me."
"No Bella," he said softly, "please leave this alone. If you see Percy please try to bring him by. I don't know how long Leah will be able to last without him."
"Jake," I said, "But we need to..."
"I said leave it alone Bella," Jake shouted. With that he ran out into the woods. Behind me I heard the front door open. Charlie made his way out on to the porch carrying his gun belt.
"Bells," he said, "Is everything alright?"
"Yeah dad," I said softly, "it was just Jake."
"Did he hurt you," Charlie asked urgently grabbing the butt of his gun"
"No dad," I answered, "Jake wouldn't do that. Have you seen Percy?"
"I thought he was with you down in La Push?
"Something happened that caused him to run," I said, "I thought he might come here."
"That's a hell of a walk Bella even for him," Charlie said, "what happened?"
"You should ask Billy," I lied, "I am not quite sure. Something was said to Percy that just got him off." With that I pushed past Charlie to go inside. I wasn't particularly hungry, and I noticed Charlie had a couple take out boxes, so I made my way up to my room. My head was exploding of ideas from what happened today. First, I have conformation that Percy is different. Now I have this whole mess with Jake and the other Quileute's probably hate me right now. All because Paul was his usual prick. What else will go wrong in my life?
