Starting Over

Drabble Summary: She was afraid to give him a chance. She did everything to avoid him but no matter where she went, he would always find her asking to start over.

She ran as fast as she could. She didn't want to get caught by a certain someone. She was running away from her chaser. She had enough pain and she wouldn't want to make more of it. He was chasing her to no end and she was getting tired, to think that he ran faster due to extreme trainings and practices.

Echizen Ryoma, her ex-boyfriend since three months was chasing her.

"Sakuno! Wait!"

"N-no, stay away from me!" she said still running away from him. She would never cry in front of him again, not ever.

"Just listen to me for once!"

She could hear him at a closer distance. Actually, she didn't know what got into her when the boy suddenly appeared in front of her in the classroom that afternoon after three months of ignorance and the boy wanted to talk. Before the boy could speak, she started to run away from him. Why is he doing this? Why would he be chasing me? He told me not to approach him anymore nor talk to him in private. Then, why is he doing the opposite now? She closed her eyes as if she gathered enough courage to speak, "W-why are you chasing me? I did what you told me, so go away!"

It was so unfortunate of her because she couldn't see anyone who could help her. It was time for the school to close. There were not enough students around in the campus anymore. It wasn't her strong luck when Ryoma finally got a hold of her and pulled her to a certain room which was the school's clinic. She tried to struggle but the boy had successfully cornered her on the wall.

"L-let me go, please." She looked away as she couldn't look into his eyes, "…Echizen-kun."

He was silent for a while, "Sakuno," he said in a concerned voice, "Talk to me."

She looked down. The boy was still holding her hands as he pinned her on the wall. The boy was keeping the distance to himself. Knowing the boy for those months that they had been together, he simply wouldn't give up on things that he desired. She bit her lower lip to control her tears to fall down, "D-don't touch me."

"Listen-"

"I-I'll talk to you," She said still looking down on the ground, "J-just… just don't touch me." She could sense that the boy was still looking at her. Then, she felt him loosen his grip until he released her from his grip but he put them on the wall still cornering her there. She slowly reached for her hands as she closed her eyes, "W-what do you want?"

He didn't say his words as if he was trying to see how she would react.

"Let's start over again."

She was shocked at his words. Him? Wanted to start all over again? What was he talking about? Her heart beat fast but it was failing her to accept everything. She momentarily shook her head.

"Sakuno… look-"

"N-no…" She shook her head once again. She didn't want to hear anything he would say anymore.

"Please…"

"D-don't say that… stop," She turned sideways holding her hands together in front of her chest, "L-let me go please… I want to leave now."

"I don't want you to leave." He said in a casual tone but she could sense how serious he was.

She was surprised at his words once again. Then she remembered some words that he said three months ago.

Don't approach me anymore.

Don't talk to me.

Pretend that you don't see me when we meet anywhere.

Don't call my name, it's disgusting.

"Why are you doing this?" She asked him but she couldn't look at him, "You told me not to approach you."

"I didn't mean that."

"You told me not to talk to you."

"I didn't want that."

"I stayed away like you told me to."

"I didn't want you to do that."

"You said that you didn't want to see me."

"I lied."

"You said that you didn't need my support."

"I lied."

"You said that I am proven useless to you."

"I lied!"

"I believed your words!" She blurted out but she couldn't look at him, "I always believed you… always." She waited for him to reply but she didn't hear any from him. She opened her eyes only to be shocked. The boy was about to touch her cheek. Her eyes widened, "You promised not to touch me!" She used that chance to get away from him but no to avail. He quickly grabbed her wrist and forced her to sit on the bed. She should award herself for not looking at his eyes all this time.

"I am sorry," He started making her flinch, "I knew I hurt you and I knew I was not that serious about you. I've never given importance to your effort. Believing those lies from the photos and stuff that Hyotei girl gave than your explanations added to worst case scenario. I knew that you wouldn't do those disgusting things."

"Don't say it to my face," She said gripping her hands on her lap, "I've forgotten all about it now. It's okay."

"Then… why won't you come back to me?"

She shook her head once again.

"Why… Sakuno?"

"I- I don't want…" She gripped her hands tighter, "I don't want to get involved with you anymore."

"Don't say that," He said in a strong tone. He held her cheek with both of his hands, forcing her to look at him, "You know that it's impossible for you to escape from me."

It was her first time to look at him on his eyes. He forced her anyway. She could sense seriousness and… regret in his eyes. She blinked hers as she shoved his hands on her cheek, "E-Echizen-kun… i-it's getting late. W-we should go now before we get stuck here inside."

"Ryoma." He said as he put his hands to her sides making her flinch.

"What?" She whispered.

"Call me Ryoma."

"I-ie," She shook her head for she didn't know how many times already, "Echizen-kun… onegai."

"I said call me Ryoma!" He said raising his voice a little. He was holding her on her shoulder now, shaking her a bit.

"Y-you told me it's disgusting."

"I lied."

"Echizen-kun!"

"Sakuno!"

"NO!"

The next thing she knew, his lips were on hers. The kiss was deepened by him, the kiss she never experienced before. She couldn't believe what was happening right now. He said that he was not serious about her before… well, it's true. They had been together for seven months but she could count the times he had kissed her on the lips. She felt humiliated. The guy was playing with her, had he had enough already?

…Giving more pain to her supposed-healing heart. Ryoma was still kissing her asking her to respond but she stayed still. She didn't do anything. She didn't struggle.

Then she couldn't hold it anymore. Her widened eyes were filled with tears and slowly fell down on her face. They were surprised by the slowly widened eyes of the boy in front of her. He slowly leaned back as he broke the kiss.

"Sakuno… I…" He started not believing what he just did. He stared at her intently and said his next words seriously, "I love you."

Her tears were freely falling down her eyes, and after a long silence, she bitterly smiled at him, "Y-you know… I'd been hoping that you would say those words to me before."

He continued staring at her, waiting for her next answer. She did as she looked down but her next words were a shock to his ears;

"But… I can't find it in my heart… t-to believe those words… anymore."

You guessed the final words right? Ryoma never said he loved her after all those months they'd been together. Okay… how was this chapter? Sakuno was badly hurt by Ryoma's words. I want to make these two-shots and see how it would end.

I know, it's another drama again… sorry… I really love drama… probably you'll read most of my fics in drama genre… aside from Romance, angst and comedy.
