Chapter 28
Looking up as Carly storms intotheir bedroom as he finishes buttoning up his dress shirt he questions as he
notices the irritated glare across her face "What?"
"Where the hell is Jase?" Carly questionsangrily since Max had just informed her that Sonny had sent Jason off onbusiness out of town.
"Jase is working" Sonny spats out in a mocking tone of voice to hide his jealously atCarly asking about Jason
"Max said he left town on your orders"
"Like I said he's working. What's your problem?" Sonnyasks since he didn't like that Carly was so upset over the fact Jason was outof town.
"Jase and I were supposed to watch the movie I ordered online together"
"Work comes first over some stupid movie"
"It's not a stupid movie it's a classic! And I want to know why you sent him out of town Sonny"
"I told you already he left town for business reasons"
"Oh please! Just fess up! You sent Jason out of town because you're jealous" Carly remarks as she places her hands ontoher hips
"Jealous? I have everything Jason has and then some. Why would I be jealous of Jason?" Sonny questions back
"Because I actually like Jason and what we-"
"And what we have is just sex." Sonny cuts heroff with an aggravated tone of voice. Since if it was up to him it would bemore than sex between them
"Yeah" Carly sighs out heavily; trying her best tofight back the tears at Sonny pretty much telling her that there was nothingbetween them but sex and their unborn child. At least Jason liked her for hereven if he only viewed her as a friend.
"I'm not jealous of Jason as far as I'm concerned I've got the better deal" Sonny tells her since he wouldn't give herthat kind of power. He wouldn't let her believe that he felt more for her whenhe knew he meant nothing to her. Hell she was only living under his roof becausehe made her.
As he walks past her Carly blinksher eyes shut as tears stream down her cheeks

Tossing ice into an empty glass Sonny lets out a heavy sighas his penthouse door opens…
"Boss Virginia Benson is here to see you"
"Let her in" Sonny grumbles out; in no mood to deal withher.
"Mr. Corinthos" Virginia greets him as sheplaces a box onto his desk
"What's in the box?" Sonny questions
"I held onto the baby clothes I had of Caroline's before I left Florida as a way to keep her close to me. I'm not sure if you're expecting a boy or a girl but some of the clothes could work for either one. I just thought Caroline would want her baby clothes for her baby" Virginiacomments
"I doubt that Carly wants anything from you but I will show her the box and let her decide if she wants to keep it or not"
"Thank you" Virginia remarks with a heavy sighsince it was obvious to her that Sonny didn't plan on letting her see Carly "I have to get back home to my job and my life but if Carly wants to contact me I
left her my cellphone number in the box along with some of her baby pictures as well."
"Bye" Sonny simply states as he pours himself adrink.
With a heavy sigh Virginia makes herselfleave.
With his drink in his hand Sonnywalks over to his desk where Virginia left the box of Carly's baby's stuff.
Placing his glass onto the desk Sonny opens the box. Picking up the pictureframe that was in the box Sonny glances down a picture of Virginia holdingCarly in her arms; a small smile forms across his face.
Placing the picture frame beside hisdrink he picks up a pink jumper that was in the box. As he holds it up in theair he silently wonders how it was even possible for anyone to be that tiny.The thought of holding something so tiny in his arms both scared him andexcited him. He couldn't wait to meet his child but it also scared the hell outof him knowing how fragile and small their baby will be. He didn't know if hewould be able to stop all threats but he did know he would die protecting hisbaby.

Walking over towards the dresser Carly opens the wooden boxthat was on top of Sonny's dresser. The box had a few man rings in it andbeside one of the rings was a velvet box. Nibbling on her lower lip she glances
towards the doorway to make sure Sonny was nowhere in sight before grabbing thesmall box into her hands. She had a feeling she knew what was inside the boxand a part of her knew that she shouldn't open it but she couldn't helpherself. She was curious to see what kind of ring Sonny would buy for his
fiancé; even if she wasn't someone he was in love with.
Opening the box Carly mutters out "Damn" as she realizesthe ring box was empty.
Placing the velvet box back inside of the wooden box Carlysilently wonders where Sonny put the ring he surly bought for her.

"What are you doing here?" Luke questionsannoyed as Virginia Benson walks into his office since he didn't want to take achance someone would catch them together in the same room
"I'm just here to tell you I'm leaving town"
"Good" Luke sighs out heavily "By the way our secret is safe my guy worked his magic and it worked since Sonny obviously doesn't know his bundle of joy that's on the way is half Spencer. If my partner knew he would have come by now to confront me about it"
"That's good…do me a favor Luke keep an eye out for my baby girl"
"Sonny will keep his family safe you don't have to worry about Carly she's in good hands" Luke reassures her since he knewSonny would give up his life for Carly and his unborn baby. The day Carly wasshot he saw the love his partner had for Carly. He never saw Sonny so scared inhis life before and he prays he never sees that look on Sonny's face everagain.
"I should get going I have the next bus out of town" Virginia remarks before walking out of Luke's office.

Walking into their bedroom Sonny frowns as he watches Carlygoing through his suite pockets that were hanging in their closet. "Looking for something?"he calls out to her causing her to jump startled by the sound of his voice
"Gosh! What are you trying to do give me a heart attack! Make a sound when you walk into a room!" Carly utters out as sheplaces a hand over her chest as her heart rate went up.
Placing the box Virginia brought for Carly on top of hisdresser he utters out "I didn't mean to scare you but that doesn't explain why you were going through my pockets"
She wasn't about to tell Sonny the real reason why she wassearching his pockets because then he would think she would want to marry himwhich she didn't…well okay maybe she did wonder just a little how it would feellike to wear his ring but Sonny was the last person she would ever tell thattoo.
"Carly what are you planning?" Sonny questionssince she had yet to answer him.
"Nothing I'm not planning anything at all. I was just looking for gum"
"Gum?"
"Yes gum or do you hate that too along with everything that's good to eat in the world"
"I chew gum once and awhile" Sonny admits.
"Okay so do you have some or not?"
"Not"
"Figures" Carly mumbles out as she shuts the closetdoors closed.
Frowning Sonny questions since the wooden box lookedslightly moved from its usual spot "Did you touch my wooden box?"
"No! Why would I touch that ugly thing" Carlyremarks as she silently wonders how the hell he knew she touched it.
"That box is handcrafted and I paid a lot for it and it's not ugly by the way and it looks like it moved silently that's why I asked"
"Well maybe the maid did it" Carly states asshe walks towards their bed.
"Her name by the way is Graciela and she would never steal from me if that's what you're implying"
"But I would?" Carly asks back with a scoff
"You were the one going through my pockets" Sonnypoints out; not that he thought she was stealing from him since he gave hermore money than she needed.
"I told you I was looking for gum" Carly sighsout heavily
"Right, gum" Sonny mumbles out before going on toask "Aren't you curious about the box I brought up"
"Why is it something else you think I was trying to rip off you?"
"No" Sonny remarks as he picks up the box andwalks towards their bed where she was sitting on "Virginia brought this over for you"
"I'm surprised she's still in town"
"She told me she was leaving town actually because she had a job waiting for her. She left you her phone number if you want it."
"I can't imagine ever wanting to use her number"
"I don't blame you" Sonny remarks before going onto say "She had a friend ship some of the baby clothes that belonged to you and some pictures she had of you as a baby. If you don't want it I can send the clothes to charity…or you know we could put it in the guest room closet if you want to hold onto it."
"Throw it all in the trash. Don't need to give those closed to some poor child. If you ask me it's a box of bad luck and I wouldn't wish that kind of bad luck on my worst enemy" Carly remarks before hoppingoff the bed
"Where are you going?" Sonny questions
"To watch my movie"
"I thought you wanted to watch it with Jason"
"I did" Carly remarks before leaving their bedroom.
Letting out a heavy sigh Sonny makes his way towards hisdresser. After placing the box back onto his dresser Sonny opens his wooden boxand a smile forms across his face as he notices the engagement box ring hasbeen touched. Pulling the ring out of his pants pocket Sonny grins widens as headmires the ring he had purchased awhile back for her.

A little while later as she hears Sonny let out anotherannoying snort she grabs the remote and presses the pause button "What!?"
"Nothing it's just that I'm telling you right now if you had furniture and rooms with candy walls you would have a major and I do mean a major aunts and critters problem. And don't get me started on that chocolate river. What's next are we going to see gold fish crackers swimming in the chocolate river?"
"Why are you here?" Carly questions annoyed
"Hey I'm just doing you a favor since you seemed so disappointed you had to watch the movie alone since Jason is out of town"
"Jason unlike you would like this movie"
Snorting at her response he laughs out "No he wouldn't which just proves you don't know Jason at all"
"Yes he would! He unlike you loves junk food; you know like normal people do"
"There is a reason why they call it junk food because it's made out of junk"
"Yeah? Then why do people call you Sonny? There is nothing sunny about you? I mean
really what kind of name is Sonny anyways?" Carlyquestions back
"You have a problem with my name now?"
"Yeah I do actually it doesn't suit you. If you ask me you should have called yourself Jack you know as in Jack Ass"
"That's funny…really funny" Sonny remarks asCarly laughs out loud
"I think so, so let's hear it"
"Hear what?" Sonny questions back
"Oh wow are you losing your touch? Normally you would have a quick comeback"
"It's called being the bigger person and trying to keep the peace."
"You expect me to buy that? I think you're just playing this bigger person crap act because you have no wise comeback to say for once"
"And I think you're trying to pick a fight with me because you're feelings are changing for me and that scares you. You like me more and more every second that goes by" Sonny declares which causes Carly to letout a snort… "And I'm willing to bet that you're even thinking about how it would feel like to be my wife"
"Oh wow, you're just so full of yourself. Your huge ego can't handle the fact that I don't want you so you have to make up this fantasy in your mind that I would actually want to marry you"
"Did my ego imagine someone moving my wooden box on my dresser?" Sonny questions back
"This again? I told you I didn't touch your stupid wooden box Sonny."
"The small velvet box had moved inside my wooden box are you saying that wasn't you who picked up the box to take a peek at the ring I bought for you"
"Never seen it"
"No? Well it doesn't matter because the ring wasn't in it which you already knew which is why you were searching my pants pockets. You were looking for the ring" Sonny smiles knowing damn well that Carly
was lying to him.
"I told you I was looking for gum, God you're so paranoid!"
"So you're sticking to your story then"
"Yes because it's the truth"
"And yet I don't believe you" Sonny comments
"Well that's because you're crazy" Carlyremarks as she stands up from her spot on the couch
"There you go again trying to start a fight with by calling me crazy because you know I'm speaking the truth"
"There you go again being all delusional and crazy because your ego can't handle the fact that there is a woman on the face of the earth that doesn't fall for your dimples and turn into mush when you walk into the room"
Grinning at her Sonny states "And there you go again lying because as I recall not too long ago you were calling out my name in the heat of passion so, so much for your declarations of being the only woman on the face of the earth that doesn't fall for my dimples and turn into mush when I walk into a room"
As Carly lets out a frustrated scream and walks away fromhim Sonny laughs out "Oh what's the matter Carly no witty comeback? You're just going to walk away? Guess I hit a nerve huh?"
Turning around Carly locks eyes with his, angry at him forseeing through her bullshit and angry with herself for somehow giving herselfaway. Of course it would be a cold day in hell before she told that smug son ofa bitch he was right that she had somehow fallen under his spell and she wasstarting to think about how it would be like to be his wife despite the fact heonly saw her as his baby mama and nothing more.
"No you didn't hit a nerve! I just tend to walk away from people talking crazy to me…. Okay I may have slept with you but only because I'm hormonal"
"And how did you get that way? Oh right by sleeping with me because you wanted me then and you want me now" Sonny points out
"Okay so maybe I slept with you a few times but it doesn't mean I like you!" Carly spats out before leaving the room in ahuff

"What brings you by?" Luke questions as hisbaby sister walks into his office
"I was going to apologize to you for thinking you were stepping out on Laura BUT that was before I saw that skanky looking woman leaving Luke's looking all upset" Bobbie remarks as she glares at her brotherfor making her feel bad about thinking he was cheating on Laura when all thelong he was since Luke's was closed so she had no business at Luke's.
"I'm not cheating on Laura!" Luke spats outannoyed
"Then why did she leave here crying? Come on Luke! Just admit you stepped out on your wife and broke things off with that home wrecker because you know Laura and I were on to you!"
"I was never involved with that woman! And since when the hell have you and Laura become so chummy anyways?! I mean I was always under the impression you hated her" Luke remarks as he silently cursesVirginia out for stopping by his office to begin with
"Laura and I may have had our differences in the past Luke but since she became your wife I put our differences aside because you love her and I love you." Bobbie declares as she sits down on the chair in front of his desk
"I do love my wife which is why I didn't stray" Lukecomments
"Okay so explain to me why she left here crying?"
"Because she needed a job and I couldn't give her one. Sonny is already in an uproar over Luke's not making enough green so he wouldn't like me hiring more help when we don't need it." Luke lies hoping
his baby sister bought his explanation since the last thing he wanted was forBobbie to start poking her nose into the situation.
"Oh…I'm sorry Luke. It just looked like she was crying over a broken heart and I came to the wrong conclusion." Bobbie sighsout heavily since she was sooooooooo sure when she saw that woman run out ofLuke in tears that Luke had lied to her. Normally her gut feelings were dead onbut she was obviously wrong this time.
"It's fine. Let's just forget all about this and move on"
"Yeah, okay. How about you the kids and Laura come over to my place for dinner tonight?"
"Sure" Luke nods as Bobbie stands up from the chairshe was sitting on
"Great, so I'll see you later"
"See you later baby sister"

As he walks into their bedroom he watches as Carly tossesthe picture frame he was looking at earlier downstairs of Virginia and Carly asa baby back into the box. "Are you okay?"
"I'm fine" Carly remarks as she walks away from thebox and makes her way towards their bed.
Picking up the picture frame Carly threw back into the boxSonny remarks "You look adorable in this picture. If we have a daughter I would love it if she looked like you"
"I think you better pray for a son" Carly commentsas he places the picture frame on his nightstand.
"Why because you would rather have a son who looks just like his handsome father?" Sonny grins at her
"No I just think you wouldn't be able to handle a daughter especially if she's like me"
"If I can handle you I think I can handle a kid version of you" Sonny points out
"You think? Just how well are you going to be able to handle it when she starts getting into boys?"
"Oh she's not going to date" Sonny remarks sternlysince no punk ass teen was going to ever lay a finger on his girl!
"You know my father said the same thing at first before he realized he was fighting a battle he had no hope in winning. My father realized that the more he said no it only made me want the boys more. I even use to sneak out of my window and climb down a tree just so I could hop into one of the high school football player's cars and drive off for a make out session by the beach."
"We live in a penthouse so there will be no tree for her to climb out of her window from" Sonny points out
"That's true we don't have big enough tress around the penthouse but we do have fire escapes" Carly smiles enjoying how crazySonny was getting over their maybe daughter dating someday.
"Which I will know the second she uses them because I will make sure there are guards guarding every fucking fire escape! No hormone crazed teenage boy is going anywhere near my baby girl and if they try they will have to deal with me!" Sonny huffs out as he balls his hands intofists. As Carly starts to giggleSonny asks "What's so damn funny?"
"You are for getting all upset over a possible girl we might have that is not even born yet. I mean you really need to chill. I was just teasing you. And if we do have a daughter I hate to break it to you but you being Sonny Corinthos won't stop our daughter from wanting to date boys."
"If we have a daughter you bet that I would scare off any punk ass kid who tries to make my baby girl just another notch on their bedpost" Sonny declares since he knew from experience that teenboys only had one thing on their minds.
"I stand by my statement pray for a son Sonny because trust me you won't be able to handle being a father to a girl like I was" Carlyremarks knowing that no matter what Sonny thought if their daughter turned outto be anything like she was Sonny wouldn't be able to stop their daughter fromdating the bad boy types.
"You have no idea what I can handle" Sonny declaresconfident that he could protect his little girl from those horny teenagerbastards.
Looking down at her stomach Carly laughs out "You hear that baby daddy thinks he has it all under control because he can't stand it not being in control of everyone and everything but he is about to find out as soon as you're born he's going to lose all the control little by little"
"I'm the king of my castle and no punk is going to lay a hand on my princess" Sonny asserts confidently
"Oh please if we have a girl she's going to have you wrapped around her little finger. She's just going to give you a puppy eye look and you're going to give into her demands. All fathers are suckers for the puppy eye look"
"I will give my daughter the world but I promise you no loser is going to lay a single finger on my daughter. And as for the puppy eye look it won't work on me. Just like with her mama I will know when she's up to no good and stand my ground"
"Yeah, good luck with that" Carly laughs out
"And you're so confident you will be able to handle every aspect of our child's childhood and I can't even though I can run Port Charles?" Sonny questions back
"Actually I'm not confident far from it Sonny"Carly admits with a heavy sigh before going on to say "But I do know if our baby is a girl she will date boys whether you like it or not"
"You're worried about being a good mother?" Sonnyquestions as he sits down on the bed beside her
"How can I not be Sonny? It's not like I had a mother growing up and as much as I loved my father he wasn't what anyone would call father of the year considering he had to bargain my future to try and save his life by getting me to agree to marry Savage. So yeah I have more than some doubts about being a good mother to my child. I mean what if I hold my baby in my arms and I don't feel the connection a mother is supposed to feel for their baby like my mother obviously didn't feel for me"
"Hey you're going to be a good mother. I have no doubts about it. I can see that you love our child already and as far as Virginia is concern despite her leaving you which I really think there is more to this story I do think she loves you. Why else would she hold on to some of your baby stuff?"
"Okay she loved me but just not enough to stick around" Carly sighs out heavily
Taking her hand in his Sonny tells her "I know how you feel about being left behind and because I went through something similar with my own father I know that neither one of us is going to make the same mistakes as they did because we know how it feels to be left behind. We're going to give our child the childhood we should have had and our baby will never know how it feels to live without one of his or her parents."
"Yeah" Carly smiles as a few tears rolls down hercheeks.
Reaching out his hand to her Sonny wipes away her tearsbefore pulling her into a loving embrace.
