hey there demons, it's me ya writer with an inconsistent writing schedule here. before I start off with the pre-chapter author note, if you also read my other dxd fic 'Sister' I updated it a couple days ago, so if you haven't seen it yet, go check it out thanks.

Anyway, for 2018 I wanna try to update more, but idk that really depends on how I'm feeling.

now onto your comments:

Hei Draken: ?

Parker: I'm glad I'm not dead either Parker. I really want to keep writing this story, bc my mom may have raised a child that procrastinates, but she didn't raise a quitter. Also, I can agree with that a bit since some of the Club's characters seem to be lacking something in the character department, so I hope to fix some of those things (fingers crossed tho)

War Historian-Freedom2134: You're not wrong lmao. But in this 'verse' I limited Vali's power just a bit, like she probably could fight them, but winning would probably be a bit more difficult.

HeathLedgerJoker4Life: Maybe?

Now onto the chapter

And just like their 'King', the women of that Turkey's peerage looked just as overconfident as he did. Sheesh, did these people know anything about the word humility?

Giving the group a once-over, Vali's nose crinkled. It's like that guy literally had a different girl for each of his fetishes. Ugh, as if he couldn't be anymore creepier.

"Yubelluna," Riser raised his hand, beckoning one of his girls over.

She was a busty woman with long, wavy purple hair. The dress she wore was quite form fitting, and the headband she wore looked similar to a tiara. Although she wasn't into girls as much as guys, Vali could appreciate a good looking person when she saw one. Now, if Vali's current hunch was correct, this woman was probably the Queen of this peerage.

Yubelluna walked to her master's side and before anyone could really say anything, Riser grabbed her chin and pulled her into a deep kiss. Well damn alright then.

"Oh no," Vali began dryly, "Someone should stop them before they do it right in front of us. There's a thing called a bedroom, I think you'd make a fine investment in one, turkey."

[Let's hope they don't choke on their own tongues.] Albion replied.

Everyone else, unsurprisingly, looked plain disgusted (and poor Asia looked downright appalled). Grayfia's face remained stoic, but if one looked close enough, then they would probably have seen the annoyance in her eyes.

The two pulled away, Riser had the usual smirk and Yubelluna's cheeks were flushed pink as Rizer wrapped an arm around her waist, also pulling her closer, if at all possible.

"Rias, I'll advise you for the last time, control your pawn," Riser said with a sneer, having heard Vali's comment, "Or perhaps I shall teach you a thing or two about respect myself."

Vali's eyes flashed dangerously, half a smirk forming on her face while as she took a step forward and in Riser's direction, "Oh?"

Riser's arm was raised again, beckoning another girl from his group over. This girl was shorter than the Queen. She had her blue hair tied into four ponytails in different directions, with some bangs framing her face. She wore bandages on her arms and shins and looked to be wearing one of those traditional martial arts outfits, covered with a red coat. In one of her hands, she carried a long wooden staff, the rounded ends covered.

Vali raised an eyebrow.

"Mira."

With her master's command ('All he even said was her name!'), she moved swiftly, aiming to hit Vali right in the stomach with her staff. And if it weren't for her reflexes, Vali was sure to get hit. Fortunately for her though, Vali caught one end of the staff in her palm. A shocked look appeared on the girl's face, and on the faces of the rest of that Turkey's group (including their ringleader).

Gripping the staff tightly, Vali smirked as the girl struggled to get her staff back.

Leaning forward, Vali spoke just loud enough for everyone to hear, "If you really want to land a hit on me, you definitely have to try harder than that." Then she let go of the staff, and since that Mira girl was tugging on it, she nearly fell on the clubroom floor, except another girl with a mask covering half of her face caught her in time, how unfortunate.

Brushing the imaginary dust off of her shoulder, Vali then looked at Riser with a bored expression on her face, "Was that all teach? 'Cause no offense, but, that lesson was pretty boring."

Riser's eyes narrowed, and Vali couldn't help but feel satisfied with seeing that expression. Rias, however, looked livid, moving to stand in front of Vali and the others of the club.

"Grayfia, inform my brother that I will go against Riser Phenex in a rating game," She announced. It wasn't a surprising result really since they weren't really getting anywhere when the two were sitting and attempting to discuss with each other, but Asia, Akeno, and Kiba all looked surprised at her choice. Koneko simply watched.

"He will be informed immediately," The maid responded curtly.

"Believe me when I say that we will win this game," Rias spoke, glaring at her 'fiance'.

Rizer only smirked in return, "Well I suppose I'll look forward to it darling. We'll see you at the game, where I'll take great pleasure in showing you the might of the Phenex."

A magic circle glowed brightly where the group was standing, and a large fire swirled around them, the wind blowing around the room, and when the fire dispersed, they were gone.

Hmph, and good riddance too.

"The nerve of him!" Rias exclaimed in anger, "Just who does he think he is, attacking one of my servants like that!"

Technically it was his servant, Vali wanted to remind her, but seeing as how she also made her own remarks towards him and his group, just to rile him up especially, it didn't seem like a great idea. She did her fair share of fueling the fire.

Vali felt a sting in her hand and when she looked, she saw that her palm was beginning to turn a bright red. Then again, she basically did slam her palm on the end of that girl's staff. But compared to the injuries those mercenaries Rizevim hired (she practically died too), this was nothing more than a tickle.

Once some moments had passed, the clubroom was beginning to regain its usual atmosphere and the tense feel that Riser and his peerage's arrival had brought on was already going away.

"Rias, are you certain that we can defeat Riser?" Akeno asked, concern showing her features.

She didn't answer, looking uncertain about the rating game.

"Because of your youth and lack of experience in rating games compared to Riser's," Grayfia began, "A handicap has been allowed to be given to you, it will allow you to have 10 days to prepare for the game."

Rias crossed her arms, a frown on her face, as she stood near her sister-in-law,"As much as I hate to admit it, you're right. Extra time for everyone to train would definitely help us."

She watched as her newest pawn attempted to assure Asia that her hand was indeed fine and that no, she did not need Twilight Healing for it. Rias had been surprised that Vali caught the staff in time, almost thinking that she indeed got hit with how fast Mira had moved after Riser ordered her too.

With these 10 days they were given, Rias wanted to start right away. The opportunity couldn't be wasted.

Vali's Apartment

Vali was, for a lack of a better word, bored. Tomorrow Rias would be bringing them all to some place up in the mountains to train for 10 days before the rating game against that Turkey, Asia had been accompanied by Akeno as she got another client before they left the next morning.

After finishing her homework, she had decided on a bath. The water was hot, just as she liked it, and she could feel herself relaxing and she closed her eyes, letting out a pleased sigh as she sunk more into the water.

She was enjoying her bath, that was until she heard a noise come from down the hall. Vali opened her eyes, lips thinning in annoyance. She heard more noise again, so she stood up, water dripping from her body. Wrapping a towel around herself, she walked out of the bathroom, the faint noise of conversation reaching her ears.

The noise was coming from her room, of course, just her luck.

"It's your fault, nyan! Teleporting us randomly into someone's house!" A female voice reprimanded, annoyance very clear in their tone.

"Well I'm sure this was the correct place," A male voice responded, sounding more easygoing than the first, "Besides mistakes happen Kuroka."

Vali raised an eyebrow in interest, there was only one person she knew that had that name. As she got closer her door was open, and the lights were own so she could somewhat see parts of their silhouettes. It definitely was them.

"You know, if you guys wanted to be more sneaky I would suggest being a lot quieter," Vali said crossing her arms as she stared at Bikou and Kuroka, two members of her team.

"Vali!"

"I was enjoying quite a lovely bath before you two decided to be loud. What are you guys doing here anyway?" She asks them, going towards her dresser to get changed.

"We came lookin' for ya, of course," Bikou answers with the usual grin on his face.

"The Vali Team simply isn't complete without their leader," Kuroka purred, "After all, just what kind of team would we be if our namesake wasn't there?"

These two statements, oddly enough, felt comforting in a way and Vali couldn't help but let a small smile grow on her face, "You both really are saps, you know that?"

Bikou snorted, "What are you doing in this town anyway? You know that Lucifer's little sister lives in this town."

"Trust me I'm well aware of that," Vali answered, dropping her towel after drying herself, putting on a bra and underwear, "I would know, I'm one of her pawns after all."

The shocked look on their faces spoke for them well enough and then Vali continued, "You could say Rizevim is the reason why. I was able to escape from him like how I originally planned. Unfortunately, he also hired some 'help' in getting me back home, I couldn't get to Italy straight away, so I had to take a detour, the chase was longer and more tedious than I thought, and then I ended up here. I died, and now here we are."

"You died?" The nekomata asked, eyes wide in disbelief.

"Pretty much yeah," Vali confirmed, shrugging on a shirt and then putting on a pair of shorts, "Then she brought me back to life as her pawn."

"So that's what happened, hm, you had us worried, ya know?" Bikou remarks, "Even poor Le Fay was ready to start looking for you herself."

As amusing as the mental picture looked, Vali did understand that being MIA for so long and not contacting anyone on her team was a bit concerning, especially since they knew the gist of what kind of man her grandfather was.

"Kuroka, you remember telling me about your little sister?" Vali asked, bringing the conversation to another topic.

At the mention of her, Kuroka stiffened, "What does little Shirone have to do with this?"

"Well, apparently I was too preoccupied that I didn't notice this," Vali answered, "But I'm pretty sure that Shirone is now a member of the Gremory girls peerage." Honestly, Vali should have noticed it sooner, their similarities were pretty much uncanny. She guessed that she could've excused that because after all, she died.

However, unlike her sister, Koneko's powers were closed off, probably sealed away by Rias' brother or something.

"How is she?" Kuroka asks, uncharacteristically quieter, "Is she safe?"

"Yeah."

It was quiet for a moment, even Bikou remained silent, knowing often times he did tease the nekoshou, this was not one of those times.

"I see that looAk in your eyes Kuroka, what are you planning?"

Kuroka blinked innocently, her coy attitude returning, "Well now that we're gonna bring you back, I can also use this as a chance to bring little Shirone with me."

At this Vali involuntarily grimaced, "Yeah, uh, funny story about that..."

After attempting to explain to the Nekomata that no she could not just barge in the middle of their training to get her sister, and no, she could not have Arthur teleport them there and interrupt the rating game, Vali felt more tired than she did before her bath. At least she also managed to convince her two teammates to give her more time before she left with them again. Her reasoning was that it was that leaving now would cause too much suspicion to arise, and then it wouldn't just be Rizevim that was after her.

However, that also brought up another issue. How on earth was she going to leave this place to go back to the Brigade? She saw what happened to stray devils, she took part in fighting one once. It was another one 'lesson' that Rizevim had drilled into her head. If there was one thing that man hated more than half-blooded devils, it was that he absolutely despised reincarnated ones.

Just thinking back to that memory caused a shudder to run through the silver haired girl's spine.

{I told you so didn't I?}

Vali rolled her eyes at Albion's words, "You sound happy about it."

She may not have been able to see Albion physically, but if he had a face, she knew that he would be smirking, {Qell I do enjoy being right. So yes, I told you so.}

Vali scoffed but did not respond.

{As much as I enjoy this hollow victory, you do understand your position in this situation, don't you?} Albion's tone held a bit more compassion, causing her to sigh.

"Yeah."

{So what will you do?}

She frowned, before shaking her head, "I...I don't know."

The dragon was silent for a moment. {Either way, know that I will be by your side, partner.}

"Thanks, Albion."

whoop we got a flashback, boys

Unknown Location, Underworld

Years Prior

A much young, more vulnerable, Vali stood shaking, knees weak. It was all she could do really, as the blood red eyes of a stray devil stared down at her.

Her Grandfather had told her to kill this abomination of a devil, or not even bother returning home. As much as the poor eight year old tried to let her go with him, he left her there, alone in this place.

Her tears weren't even close to being dried, as she continued to hiccup and sniffle.

This of course, made the devil's sinister grin grow even wider. It's razor sharp teeth and Glasgow smile haunted her.

"My my my~" It hissed, "A little girl has come into my part of the forest hm?"

Vali remained deathly quiet, blue eyes wide.

"Do you know what I do to those types, little one?" It asks, moving closer to her, causing the child to take a step back.

"They make a delicious snack."

That was when Vali ran, or at least, tried to run. But it was faster than she was at the time, and soon enough she was shoved harshly onto the forest floor, landing on her back. The creature's long claw-like nails traced down her cheek, and Vali flinched, feeling it cut into her skin.

"You can't run," It mocked.

She sobbed, begging the creature to let her go, but it ignored her cries, raising its clawed hand in the air, to land the finishing blow.

Vali closed her eyes tightly as she screamed in utter terror. But the blow never came.

Opening her eyes slowly, the eight-year-old was shocked to see what looked like wings blocking the stray devil. The 'feathers' glowed a bright blue, and they were attached to a silvery metal.

"I-Impossible!"

{Just what do you think you are doing to my host, you pathetic mongrelA deep voice demanded.

Vali was confused and still afraid, where was that voice coming from? But she couldn't dwell on that question any longer, as the stray raised its arms to attack her again, being blocked by the wings again.

{That won't work on me} The voice spoke in a dry tone. {Then again you're probably the most, if not one of the weakest opponents I've faced in my lifetime.}

The stray screeched in anger.

{Divide!}

Its eyes widened, as did Vali's. She felt magic flowing through her, but that couldn't be. She hadn't even used her magic, having been too busy being paralyzed with fear to do so.

{Divide!}

There it was again. The stray started moving sluggishly as if being drained.

{Divide!}

Hesitantly, Vali raised her hands as a ball of energy formed in front of her, it shot towards the stray, and once it came in contact, it burst, and she heard it yell in pain. Vali kept attacking it until her own magic had begun to deplete as well. The wings disappeared, much to her confusion. The smoldering and unmoving remains were all that remained of the stray. The stray's body unmoving, it looked as if it was trying to crawl away from the energy but was too weak to do so. Its face was practically burnt away, the eyes gazed up in an eternal horror.

"Vali-san!"

The little girl could do nothing but look away and retch in disgust.

"Vali-san!"

She remembered seeing her father approach, a mortified look on his face, gripping her arm tight enough to bruise, nearly shouting questions about what she just did to the stray. Knowing that the revelation of this new power would be the beginning of a living nightmare-

"Vali-san!"

Vali sat up with a loud gasp, eyes wide. Taking in her surroundings, she was not in that place, not anymore, but in the apartment that she shared with Asia.

Speaking of Asia, the poor thing stood near her bedside, eyes filled with worry, "I heard you from my room, are...are you okay?"

With a hand on her chest, Vali could feel her heart pounding in her chest, and she inhaled and exhaled before slowly nodding, "M'fine." Despite that, she could feel herself trembling at the memory of those times.

Clearing her throat, she glanced over at the digital clock on the nightstand, it was barely 6 in the morning, they'd be leaving for Rias' in about two hours... Vali hated nightmares sometimes.

"You should go back to sleep," She told Asia, "We don't have to be awake yet."

"What about you? Are you going to be okay?" The blonde asked worriedly.

Vali nodded, "Yeah, I'll be good."

Reluctantly, Asia exited Vali's room, closing the door softly behind her. Vali lay back down again and wiped a hand down her face with a sigh. She probably wouldn't get much sleep after this anyway.

...Staring at the ceiling could be fun for a while, couldn't it?

(No, no it really wasn't.)
