As a quick note I just wanted to say that I got the information about the prawn trap from the YouTube Channel Primitive Technology

Rin's thoughts

Rin POV

I made my way outside of my home where I kept a prawn trap and net that I wove laying around the I believe Kagome-san called it a patio? I scooped it up and grabbed a clay pot I had made as well and walked towards the forest following the same path I had used for years, it lead me to a freshwater spring with a small cascading waterfall flowing through it. The walk would be confusing to someone who didn't know the area, luckily from all the travelling I had done with Sesshomaru-sama I had enough survival skills where something like that wasn't particularly a problem. The freshwater spring was a great source for food and water, despite the walk, it was lush and everything around it was so green and healthy, it was like a hidden little paradise that only I knew about.

I tied my kimono up so it wouldn't be dragged through the water and waded over to a patch of tree roots where I placed my trap under it. I headed towards the opposite side of the spring and cast my net to try and catch at least one fish. I pulled my net in slowly and unfortunately luck wasn't on my side yet, no fish yet. So far about three prawns had fallen for the trap, just three more to go. I cast my net again and this time I was able to catch a smallmouth bass. It was a perfect size for two meals. I kept the fish in the net and waded over to the prawn trap, I removed it from its spot and removed the woven part that kept the prawns from escaping. I put all the prawns in the clay pot I brought and started to walk back home through the forest. Along the way I accidently tripped on a tree root and almost dropped my pot with all the prawns in it. I was met with a pair of golden eyes with a hint of amusement in them.

"Rin, you have kept this Sesshomaru waiting for too long." His face was emotionless as usual but there wasn't any sign of annoyance in his voice which put me at ease.

"I'm s-sorry Sesshomaru-sama, I didn't think it was going to take that long to catch a decent meal for the day." I apologized out of habit.

"Hn, well it's important that you eat. When you traveled with me, you had to eat multiple times a day as well." His statement brought back some memories most of them were nice despite Jaken-sama berating me for everything that I did or didn't do.

"I'm going to prepare breakfast, I'll try to finish up quickly." I said.

"Hn." Sesshomaru raised an eyebrow and said nothing else. He took the pot from my hands along with my net and trap and turned to walk back towards my house.

"Sesshomaru-sama, I am perfectly capable of carrying my stuff!" I exclaimed.

"Hn, this Sesshomaru is aware of that…" he paused for a moment, "as well as the fact that you can walk by yourself." I covered my mouth to hide my silent laughter.

He was never the type to say he was helping out so instead he acts as if you've inconvenienced him hence the excuse for taking too long. The great and powerful killing perfection patiently waiting for me to do human things is some sort of accomplishment, now that I think about it since I've grown up. We walked up to the side of my house where I had made a small fire pit. Sesshomaru found a comfortable spot to sit leaning against the side of my house. He closed his eyes as if he were taking nap.

While he was resting, I grabbed some vegetables that I had saved and placed them in the pot with the prawns, I made a fire and placed stones in it and waited for them to heat up. Using tongs that Kagome-san made for me I grabbed the rocks and placed them inside of my pot allowing the water to boil. After a few minutes I was able to drain the water and eat the perfectly cooked prawns and boiled veggies. I continued onto the smallmouth bass after I was done eating, cleaning the fish and sectioning its meat into strips I left them out in a safe place to dry for the rest of the day. I finally finished up everything that needed to be done and I went to check on Sesshomaru. He opened his eyes and stared at me without saying a word.

"I'm ready, did I take too long?" I asked him.

He said nothing and stood up from where he was sitting. I took this as a sign to walk to where Kagome-san and Inuyasha-san lived. We silently headed down the path to the village while I kept thinking to myself if Sesshomaru would leave for another long period of time. Would he leave without saying anything or would he offer to take me with him? I shook my head, there were many questions I wanted to ask him, but now might not be the best time to find the answers. First I had to survive the family reunion between the two brothers.
