It was the first night that she hadn't had a nightmare and the first night she had had a full nights sleep. She usually slept for three hours a night with 3-4 hours of meditation per day. With her grandfather around, it was usually a lot more. She groaned as she awoke by the movement next to her. She had not fully come to the conclusion that was in someone else's bed or that she was next to someone other than Ben. She felt a hand placed on her arm before she felt a pair of lips press down on her cheek before the bed moved.
Half conscious, with all her senses dulled, she opened her eyes to find herself no longer in her own bed, nor Ben's for that matter. She moaned turning in her spot watching as the dark haired boy a placed grey long sleeved shirt on before placing a black shirt over-top and grabbing his pants. She sat up, holding her head wondering why she was in pain.
She heard the boy moan as he turned to see the redhead beauty finally awaking from her sleep. He had been watching her for the last 10minutes, watching as she slept peacefully.
He was enjoying himself, listening to her breathe so softly. I mean, he had been with a few women in his life. Most of them being one-night stands others stayed around for longer but none of them were like her. None of them were amazing and full of life like her. None of them would risk their lives for someone that they didn't even know. None of them had been as broken as them.
"Good morning" He mumbled towards her, watching as she scratched her forehead and sat up in bed.
"Morning!" She muttered groaning before her eyes fluttered open realising that she was completely naked. She blushed madly as she pulled the covers up to her chest avoiding eye contact with him. She was no longer a virgin, she realised that. That's probably why her lower region was in pain. She had just had sex with her cousin's nemesis, her families enemy...her boyfriend. She gulped feeling her body freeze as he touched her cheek trying to awaken her from her distant gaze.
"I'll grab you some breakfast" He smiled down at her as she finally looked his way.
"Thanks" She mumbled, looking around for her clothes.
A quick shower and a change of clothes had made all the difference. She was now officially ready to tackle the day starting with her first real morning with her partner who was currently making her a cooked breakfast, including a tea.
"Surprised you don't drink coffee" He muttered towards her. It caught her attention as she sat at the table.
"Huh?"
"Just thought a student would be drinking like 12 cups of coffee per day" He shrugged as he made her a herbal tea.
"Oh, not really. My grandpa kind of stops me from having any stimulants" She muttered back as he placed the tea in front of her.
"Guess it would make sense. You being an Antodyte; guess you don't need anything to wake you up"
She shrugged.
"I'm half Antodyte. I still get tired and have to eat and sleep. Just not as much as everyone else"
"So to become a full Antodyte you'd have to get rid of your body, right?" He asked, placing the cooked eggs onto one plate before frying up some bacon.
"Yeah, it almost happened when I was younger. When I lost my folks but Ben and grandpa were able to stop me"
"So if I had left you out there in the forest, you would've become an Antodyte"
"That's kind of a painful way to go"
"Yeah but-"
"Would you have really of left me out there to die"
He rubbed the back of his neck.
"I never thought you were as bad as Tennyson, so no"
"My hero" She muttered as she checked the time. It was almost 8am. He placed a plate of eggs, bacon and bread down in front of her before kissing her cheek. She blushed.
"How come you never went with your grandma when you had the chance"
"I still do"
"Yeah, but I mean like as soon as... it happened?"
"Oh," She stared down at her plate picking up a fork as he sat down beside her.
"I, um, I didn't want to abandon Ben and my grandpa and I-"
"You felt guilty"
She nodded as she sipped on her tea. He noticed her quiet demeanor and placed a hand on hers.
"I didn't mean to bring it up"
"Guess I can't escape it" She mumbled before turning back to her food.
"Anyway, what are we going to do today, I was thinking the beach" She looked over to him noticing him completely taken back. He was surprised by her sudden change of demeanor. He was surprised to see someone try and forget something that quickly. He coughed before nodding.
"I'll stop by the shops to grab you something to wear"
"Don't want to stop by my house?" She smirked. He groaned not wanting the cousin's anywhere close to each other. In fact, he would prefer it if they never even contacted one another.
"No!" He stated sternly.
She shrugged before she took out her phone checking if she had any messages. None, not one. Not since she last saw her grandfather anyway. She flicked open her facebook to see if he had tried to contact her through that. She and her cousin had had to take up different names since they had become famous. Gwen had changed her last name to 'Swanson' though she had tossed up for a few days whether she was going to go with 'Knope' and her cousin had changed his name to 'Dwyer'. She rested her head on her arm as she scrolled through her messages. None from Ben. It was weird. Maybe grandpa had spoken to him, or Julie. She hoped both.
"Everything okay?" He asked her, watching her carefully.
She nodded, placing her phone down on the table.
"I guess, Ben hasn't messaged me since last night so I guess grandpa spoke to him. It's actually kinda weird" She picked up her knife and fork.
"You seem worried"
"My cousin's persistent"
He placed his hand on hers hoping to at least give her some comfort but nothing lasted forever and he knew her cousin would come after her eventually. Instead, he had to come up with something that would distract her. He knew what girls liked- well sort of. He knew they liked going to the shops and movies and chocolate so he was going to go with those for now. He'd take her out to dinner in the evening and then she could stay another night round his. It would be perfect; the whole day dedicated to her. They would just have to take a detour out of town to avoid the troubling family member.
"So, beach right?"
Gwen nodded, smiling at the boy as she held his hand and finished off her breakfast and tea.
A hit and a miss. That's what Kevin had called it when they skipped a town or two to visit a shopping centre just over an hour north of Bellwood. On the bright-side, Ben was no where to be seen, on the other side...
Gwen had been consistently interrupted by her adoring fans. Some girl's wanting photographs and selfies while some guys wanted to get a little more closer to comfort.
"How do you stand this?" He asked her as he carried a few bags in his hands. She smiled as she autographed a girl's highschool book before turning around to face her boyfriend.
"Just get used to it; I guess. I mean my cousin and I have been famous for years"
He rolled his eyes as a brown haired boy came over to her just above her height, maybe around 5f 9. He wrapped an arm around her waist as he pulled her in for a hug. A close hug, like real close. Her body was pressed up against his as he held the camera higher, their heads coming together.
"Cheese" Both said in unison. Kevin grumpled, jealous of the guy, wanting to rip his head off. He left after giving the redhead a hug and telling her that he loved her and that he was her number one fan. She blushed at the boys comment. It was unexpected to the point in the dark haired, onyx-eyed boy was surprised and now extremely jealous.
He came over to her and wrapped an arm around her.
"I hope you aren't falling for him" He kissed her cheek making her blush harder.
"Right," She smirked watching as the other boy walked away.
"He's quiet charming" Gwen smirked teasing the Osmosian. He grumpled as feeling sorry for himself.
"Sure you wanna date someone who looks like your cousin"
She scoffed.
"Don't even joke about that!" She threatened as they walked into the next store. He shrugged as she walked over to the different types of clothes and picked a set out as he sat over in a brown leather seat waiting for her to finish shopping so they could head over to the beach.
He rested his head on his hand as he watched her, attention focussed on the details of her contours. Her soft smile. He didn't want to forget it. He was head over heels in love with her and he hated being apart from her. He would ask her to move in with him tonight. Somewhere where she could feel happy and safe with people she loved. With him. He heard a small vibration from one of the bags. He opened it to find her purse inside the plastic before unzipping it. He could see the phone on top of her other things and noticed the name on the screen. It was Ben. He sighed. Of course it was Ben.
He took a quick look over to the redhead noticing her back turned to him picking out a black bikini. He placed the phone up to his ear.
"Hey Gwen" It was Ben's voice, relaxed, almost tired even.
"Grandpa said not to bother you. Said you were staying over your brother's last night and said not to bother you"
He didn't even realise she had a brother. A brother that was still alive.
"Still, I just wanted to know if you were alright. I mean, I know you and Ken are still having problems but-"
The brunette waited for her to answer but no response came from him.
"Anyway, I was looking for you last night. Realised you weren't at Julies and caught up with grandpa who told me you teleported to California uni. I should have believed you before when you said that you weren't going to go round Kevin's. I mean, he's our arch rival; you couldn't. Anyway, you are the closest thing I have to family and we're a team. I'm heading out tonight on a mission, seems like Dr. Animo's got a new stream of giant toads" He snickered like it was a joke.
"If you're around, I could really use some help. We can get Mr. Smoothies after?"
He waited for her response but nothing came from the other end. He was beginning to get worried.
"Gwen?"
The phone went dead. The Osmosian had shut it off the exact second the redhead had turned round and began walking over to him, with a receipt in one hand and a bag in the other.
"Hey!" He muttered quickly throwing the phone into the bag as she ran a hand through her hair.
"Finished" She smiled.
He smiled back at her and stood up taking her bag before wrapping an arm around her.
The beach was desolate. Not a person in sight which meant he could finally have some alone time with her. She had fallen asleep on the beach towel after a quick swim in the ocean. He should've bought a surface. Not like he could surf but it was good weather for it. Unlike her, he was bored. Underneath her blackened, aviator sunglasses he could see the pink magneta in her eyes, which only meant one thing. She was meditating. He wondered why she had chosen now to do it. Now, when they were suppose to be spending time together. Laying on the beach and suppose to be playing in the ocean. He was desperate to wake her up but decided against it. She had said something about needing a few hours of meditation a day for some reason.
He couldn't recall what but it was important. So instead of waking her up and probably annoying her he decided to take a dip in the water to cool off. At least it would give him something to do. He walked in just over knee deep, the tips of his fingers dancing on the water's surface as the cold water began to climb up his legs. He was cold and he didn't care. Instead, he kept walking almost until the water line was just below his belly button, where the water began to get less clear. Foggy almost. Maybe the sand had been swished around in the area but there were no waves in this spot.
Concluding that it was just the water being water, he ignored it and began walking a little deeper so the water came up to his chest and he could remove his feet from the sandy floor and swim out. He got at least a few metres out to see before he felt something tug on his leg. Nothing too hard, nothing too sharp just an innocent tug.
He turned round trying to find what had caused the altercation but he saw nothing, no black patch, no spec of seaweed. No nothing. He frowned, looking over to a clear patch in the water and swimming over to it to reduce his anxiety. Kevin wasn't the greatest swimmer in the world. In fact, he avoided it as much as possible. There had been a few incidences of shark attacks across the North West shorelines which had thrown him off seeing the beach again. Yet, here he was swimming in an isolated area, with his girlfriend asleep on the shoreline. Actually, now that he thought about it, he couldn't actually see her. Two beach towels were layed out, one beside the other but noone was there. His eyes lit up. Where was she?
He started to panic. Maybe Ben had been following them after all and he had grabbed her when he was distracted.
Ignoring the previous pull on his leg, he began to swim back, unaware of the dark patch following him from behind.
"GWEN!" He called out to the shore line. His heart racing as he swam for it.
No answer. Of course, there was no answer. She's been kidnapped and probably thrown in Tennyson's trunk to teach her a lesson.
"GWEN!" He shouted again. The dark patch close to him. Something pulled on his trunks this time. Something big, something teeth. He jolted, his body freezing in shock as he turned to see the massive black outline of a creature with a fin protuding out of the water. His nightmare had come true. He was going to die.
He screamed, jumping back as the head of the animal lifted itself out of the water and stared the dark haired boy down. Blood thirsty teeth drooling in his direction. He was done for. That was until he noticed the beasts eyes. Hazed with a tint of magneta pink. He could hear laughing in the background. A girl giggling like him being eaten was a joke. He turned to see the redheaded beauty resting on the rocks, less than 4metres away from him.
"Gwen?" He stared her down noticing her pink eyes and hand balled into a fist.
"Never thought I'd see the day you were afraid of something" She called back. He took one quick look back at the animal noticing it wasn't going to move. He breathed out, sweat running down his forehead as he swam back over to her. He really thought he was going to die.
"How'd you-" He climbed up on the same giant rock she was on.
"My grandma showed me how to take control of animals a few months ago. It's a neat trick I use when my cousin's annoying the shit out of me but it still works as a pretty cool party trick" She smirked controlling the animal to come over to them.
He glared at her, not finding her efforts amuzing.
"That's not funny. It's a freaking shark" She bend down to pat the 8f animal as it glided past the rocks. She shrugged.
"An animals an animal. To be honest I think people are much more dangerous. Least you can predict what an animals going to do" She muttered avoiding eye contact and watching as the great white swam back around to do a loop so she could pat the human-killer again.
He frowned at her statement. He knew she had been hurt by a lot of people. It was probably where all her trust issues came from. I mean, she protected them but she didn't trust them in the least.
"Sorry if I made you jump. I was just having some fun" She smiled at him. He scoffed, breathing out as he thought about her comment.
"I wasn't scared"
"No?" She quirked her eyebrow, a smirk plastered on her face.
"I mean, I heard you scream"
"I didn't scream" His voice raised as pitched. She snickered before she smiled.
"If you aren't scared then you don't mind taking another dip?" She asked, taking a step back to the water's edge. His eyes widened as he saw the shark coming in to the rocks to swing past again. Oh god, what if she had lost control of the fish, then she would be eaten alive by the stupid animal. She would die over some dumb party trick.
"Gwen don-" He grabbed her holding her closely as the shark swam by. Without a moment's hesitation, he held her close to him, his body wrapping around her.
Her eyes dulled as she lost focus on the shark and she was in shock that someone was holding her close, afraid to let go. Afraid that she might get hurt. She had never felt something like this before. It was knew to her and she didn't want to let it go. He pulled her back noticing her now vibrant green eyes and the smile no longer apparent on her face.
"Don't ever do that again" He told her, his heart and breathing trying to slow as he held her tight. She nodded, watching as the shark began to slowly make it's way out of the beach and into the depths of the ocean.
Kevin touched her face, wanting her attention back to him. She had noticed that he constantly stared at her and watched her closely to the point that it kind of scared her a little. He liked her. She got that, but she wasn't a beauty queen.
She nodded at his comment before composing herself and closing her eyes.
"So dinner?" She asked.
He was star-struck as she asked like nothing bad had happened. She almost jumped in the ocean with a shark and now she was hungry. He gulped nodding as she began to take his hand and walk back across the rocks to their towels.
He thought he had a sick twisted sense of humour. He knew her cousin had a dark, twisted sense of humour. But her. He had always thought she was so innocent and trusting of everyone. He only now just realised that they were the same.
I know it takes me ages to update. Can't promise when the next chapters coming out but it will come out. I'm set on finishing the story so please review.
