Right, okay.. here we go.

Firstly, an apology. I know, it's been almost a year and I'm sure most of you who were following this story have long since given up on me, which is entirely my own fault. I got sucked into school and work and basically this story got put aside, as did all my inspiration.

I'm also really sorry because this chapter's a big shorter than usual and not very well written as I'm so out of practice.

This one is Finn's POV, as my tribute for Cory Monteith.

Disclaimer: I don't own any of these characters or Glee etc.

"This one's for Quinn" Finn said, a ghost of his usual smile playing upon his lips. "I mean, I know the girl dies at the end and that's the last thing we all want" he added in an awkward manner that could only be described as 'Finn-like' "But she really is an angel". As he spoke the last sentence, his gaze drifted over to Rachel where he was expecting to see her wearing the jealous scowl which always appeared when the boy mentioned Quinn, but even Rachel lacked her usual verve. There was no pep in her, there'd been no pep in any of the Glee members since Quinn's accident and his almost wedding.

White lips, pale face

Breathing in snowflakes..

Finn began singing. In truth, his choice of song wasn't brilliant but none of the other Glee members felt like stopping him. Plus, the way Finn sang was so moving; the song eerily suited his voice and everyone knew the emotions he was trying to convey.. despair and guilt but with an edge of hope. Finn threw everything he could into his voice, as if that would make Quinn better. He felt awful for hurrying Rachel who, in turn, hurried Quinn, ultimately causing her accident.

Finn turned towards the sound soft strumming behind him to see Sam, eyes clenched shut and head down as he played the guitar.

It's too cold outside

For angels to fly

An Angel to fly,

To fly.. to fly,

For an angel to fly.. to fly.. to fly,

Or an angel to die

The last like was barely a whisper with the forbidden 'd' word lingering on Finn's lips. He had manipulated the last verse to specifically mean Quinn. There was no denying it, even when she went into HBIC mode, she was an angel, the most beautiful girl he'd ever seen. Finn had not lied to the blonde on prom night last year, but, even so, his heart belonged to the brunette whose gaze he'd just caught. Rachel nodded to him gently, communicating that she understood. The corners of Finn's mouth upturned slightly. Though he hadn't married Rachel, he intended to do so one day, what did it matter if they waited a while. Quinn's accident had taught him that he should cherish every moment with Rachel he had, rather than arguing about labels.

As the sound of muted applause died, Finn made his way to the seat next to Rachel, who instantly took his hand. But the boy couldn't listen to Mr Schue's closing remarks, he was too busy staring at Sam who looked most devastated by the accident. Finn could see it in the other boy's blue eyes, usually shining with life, now limp and dull; and the six o' clock shadow that hung across his jaw.

"Come on Finn, everyone's gone" Rachel's sweet voice cooed. Snapping him back to the present. He looked around the room, and, true to Rachel's words, it was empty.

"Yeah alright then" Finn replied, taking hold of the small girl's hand and allowing her to drag him out of the classroom.

Finn glimpsed Sam just as he was walking, heavy footed, to football practice. Usually, in these awkward situations, Finn would have pretended not to notice Sam, who was his main rival for the quarter-back position and quick footed it to practice, but today he bee lined straight for the blond boy.

"Hey Sam.. you coming to practice" Finn started, lifting his football helmet to punctuate his words.

"Er.. no?" Sam replied hesitantly. Finn knew that it wasn't a great opener, considering Sam hadn't come to practice all year, but it was the only thing he could think of in the current situation. "I'm on the swim team now" the other boy added.

"Right" Finn nodded awkwardly. "I.. er-" he started again before noticing something sticking out of Sam's bag. Peeking out of the backpack, as if gasping for sunlight was one of what Finn could only guess to be a magnificent bouquet of flowers of a white so pure that it gleamed. "Wow, are they for Quinn?" he asked bluntly. "..sorry man" he added hastily. Finn and Sam had never been great friends for many reasons, one being Quinn, another being football and the last being that they both had a strong sense of leadership.

"Yeah" Sam said sheepishly, scratching the back of his neck. "I was going to get roses but then I thought they'd be too romantic. And then they were going to be yellow but that's too much 'sick grandma' so yeah.. white orchids". Finn was surprised at how open the blond boy was, but he put it down to fatigue, the heavy circles that decorated Sam's eyes suggested that he hadn't had a decent night's sleep in a while.

"It sounds like you put a lot of thought into it" came Finn's honest reply. He frowned, it was strange that Sam cared so much about Quinn, considering what she- well they'd- put him through.

"Yeah well, like you said, she's an angel" Sam echoed Finn's words from Glee club. "Good song choice, by the way, man" the other boy said, if not wholly sincerely.

Finn nodded soberly. "Listen man, about last year.. I'm sorry.. for everything. I shouldn't have done it, but, well, we just didn't have any closure" the tall boy mumbled. He wasn't proud of what he'd done to Sam, exactly what Quinn did to him, and he knew how much that hurt.

"Yeah, I know how that feels" Same twisted his large lips. "It's alright, can't live in the past, can we? What with so much going on"

Finn exhaled deeply, feeling as though the thick smog of guilt which had been hanging over him for the past year, had finally lifted. "You're a good guy, Sam. She deserves someone like you"

"Oh!" Sam gasped, looking taken aback. He twisted his lips once more, scratching the back of his neck with his right hand. "I didn't think anyone knew about that- anyways.. gotta go, you know, give these to her" he said, jerking his head towards the flowers; and, before Finn had a chance to ask what 'that' was, the blond boy had already disappeared.

An angel with white lips and a pale face lay on the sterile white bed. She looked so small in the hospital issued bed; delicate to the point of fragile; as though one touch and she could just shatter. Quinn looked drained, there was no colour in her face, even her gleaming green eyes were shut away.

This was the first time Finn had come to visit Quinn alone. He hadn't even told Rachel, which was bad practice considering they were engaged to be engaged, but Quinn was a whole separate part of his life, the Finn before Rachel, and it was a part of him that he needed to let go.

The girl in front of him looked plain to the point of unnoticeable, but, Finn knew that, when she reopened her beautiful eyes, and the life gleaned back into her, she would turn heads wherever she went, probably including his. Finn reached forwards, gingerly taking hold of one of Quinn's hands, afraid that she would break.

"Quinn-" but the words were stuck in his throat.

He tried again, "Q-".

A drop of liquid broke the banks of his eye and rolled down his cheek. "Quinn" he started, clearing his throat and speaking much more clearly. "They say that coma patients can sometimes hear, so here goes.. I love you. Well, I loved you, and I'm pretty sure you loved me too. And even though we're both over that now. I still care about you. I'm so sorry about the wedding, about pushing Rachel, about everything. It's my fault, I made you rush, I made Rachel test you- sorry" the sentences were pouring out of his mouth so rapidly that you almost couldn't distinguish one from the other. "I know you'll pull through this Quinn, like the everything else you've done. You're the strongest character I know – except Rachel – and you've got big things ahead of you. Bigger than marrying a Lima loser" he said, a tad bitterly.

Finn caught eye of white orchids sitting in a pot on the side table and involuntarily smiled. Sam had captured her so perfectly in these flowers. They were as beautiful, pale, and delicate as she was. "Although, speaking of, there's someone who cares about you a lot more than just a friend" he whispered, nodding towards the orchids, even though he knew the girl couldn't see. "Sam's a great guy and he'll take care of you – I mean, if you want him to. I know you're strong enough to take care of yourself.. I.. yeah" the boy trailed off.

Finn knew what he was trying to convey, but the words were all jumbled in his mouth and the chances were, Quinn couldn't hear him anyway. So, instead, he thought the words, standing by her bedside for a further ten minutes before finally leaning down and placing a gentle kiss in between her eyebrows and exiting the room.
