Enjoy!
Syaoran didn't even know where he was. After falling from that hole, he found himself here. There was nothing, not even his friends. Only darkness greeted him. Usually, Syaoran could keep his cool, but he found himself beginning to panic. He was alone; no one was with him. Tomoyo, Sakura, even the annoying guardian Kero.
"Sakura." Syaoran thought in his mind, using her name as a mantra to keep his cool. "Sakura." Though she didn't know yet, Syaoran had a crush on her. As he was thinking the name, a light suddenly blinded him. Shutting his eyes, Syaoran began to feel heat. Nervous, he slowly opened his to find the source of the heat, and what he saw horrified him. In front of him was a city. It would have been quite beautiful had it not been burnt to black. Fire must have recently consumed the buildings because he could still feel the heat off the the charred remains. Burnt corpses scattered across the decimated ground. Upon closer inspection, Syaoran noticed that some were still alive, but they were at Death's door at that point. As he continued to look, Syaoran began to feel sick. Clutching his stomach, Syaoran suddenly heard loud sobbing from behind. He turned around and saw a small group of people, wearing strange clothes, surrounding a young woman holding a burnt body. The woman, whose wavy brown hair was plaited into two ponytails, was wearing strange colored robes not unlike the people surrounding her. There was a strange red mark on her forehead, partly covered by her bangs and jewelry. Her appearance was messy; strands of hair were coming out of her head bands, her fair complexion was covered by blood and dirt. As she held the body, the woman continued to sob as big tears dripped down her face. She cried out loud.
"WHY?! WHY HIM?!" She screamed towards the sky as though hoping for an answer. One of the people, a young man with glasses, tried to reason with the woman.
"It's too late." He murmured quietly. "The fire burnt most of his body off. We nee-" Whatever the man was about to say was cut off when the woman began to cry even louder.
"NO! NO I WON'T LET HIM DIE! MAKHI! MAKHI, MY BABY!" She sobbed. Suddenly, a small cough from the burnt body was heard, and the woman dropped her head to look at the dying person.
"M..Mother…" the person gasped out. A light seemed to glimmer in the woman's eeys.
"Shhh." The woman shushed as she gentle caressed the body's head. "You need to keep your strength. Don't worry, Makhi, I promise, I…" The small boy shook his head painfully.
"It's too late, Mom." The child whispered. The woman began to raise her voice.
"No, I won't…!" She began to refute. The child wearily grasped his mother's shaking hand.
"Mother, please!" the boy said a little louder, "There..is no...saving me." Immediately, the mother fell silent. Even when he was dying, the child gave a small smile through his burnt state.
"I...may not go to that place b-because of my...beliefs." The boy murmured. "But, I am content...M-Mother, please. D-Don't be s-sad...anymore. Live...a h-happy life..." Tears threatened to spill from the woman's eyes once again. However, she managed a smile back at him.
"Yes, darling. Mommy promise." The woman quietly answered. Smiling the boy slowly opened his eyes. Syaoran gasped in shock. The child's eyes were the same color as his own eyes- amber. Yet, there were flecks of gold in them.
"Thank y-you everyone…f-for everything…" He murmured before taking his last breath. The people surrounding the two began to grieve as the burnt boy became a corpse. Suddenly, the background began to dim. Soon, there was only the woman holding the corpse in her arms. Syaoran began to wonder what happened when the woman began to mutter to herself.
"Oh Makhi. I promised that I would live a happy life in your name, and I will." The woman murmured. She brought her head up and Syaoran saw the look on her face and he took a step back in fear. The light in the mother's eyes were gone, replaced with a maniacal glint. As insane smile stretched across her face as she continued to speak.
"Once I avenge you that is." She whispered. Suddenly, a black swarm of birds began to surround Syaoran, covering the two people. Syaoran felt his throat suddenly constrict and grasped his neck, struggling to breathe while trying to fight off the birds. Soon, Syaoran was consumed by the darkness, and he felt nothing more.
When Syaoran opened his eyes again, he found himself in some kind of room with a metal door. There were other people as well, but they all had chains around there wrists and ankles and wore nothing but rags as clothes. The walls were made of stone, with one of the walls cut into a square to make a window. Looking closely, Syaoran realized that there were bars in the window to prevent escape, like a prison. After further investigation, the brunette realized that he was in a cell. Syaoran tried to stand up, but was pulled down as he did so. Syaoran realized that there was also chains on him as well. In the process of examining the chains, the Li noticed that his clothes were gone and replaced with rags, like the rest of the people there. The only thing he recognized was the bracelet that his cousin, Mei Lin, gave to the brunette for his birthday. It was a silver chain with a decorative gemstone in the middle that resembles a yin-yang. For some odd reason, Syaoran noted, there was an eight pointed star glowing in the middle of the gem. As Syaoran tried pry of his chains, he heard someone speak.
"It's no use." They whispered. Syaoran turned around and saw a young adolescent girl, around his age. She had red hair and red eyes. Part of her hair was pulled into ponytail that laid at the side of her head, with the rest of her shoulder-length hair let down. Her fair complexion was caked with dirt and wounds, her eyes lifeless.
"It's no use." she repeated, "Once you're a slave, you can't be free from the chains anymore." Syaoran sat there, shocked at this revelation. A slave? Quietly, he asked the girl a question.
"Do you know how I got here?" Syaoran inquired. She looked at him sadly.
"I overheard the slave traders when they put you in here." She said. "Apparently, you were unconscious on the outskirt of the city. You were unlucky enough to have been seen by them." As Syaoran continue to process what redhead said, the brunette realized that he didn't know her name. Syaoran smiled slightly.
"Thank you for telling me." The Chinese thanked. "My name is Syaoran. What's your name?" The girl didn't smile back, but her eyes seemed to gain a little more life back into them as she answered his question.
"Morgiana." She replied. "Tell me, why were you doing in the desert before you were caught?"
Fate has now begun to fight against the oppression of the Nothing. Oh my reincarnations, my dear friends and guardians, my dear children...May we succeed...
Or else there will be nothing left...
Finally, the actual story will begin. If you are wondering, the first couple of chapters were considered prologues.
