Sunlight fought its way through the small gap in the satin curtains that decorated the window belonging to the bedroom of one Uchiha Sasuke, formerly Uzumaki Naruto. As if vengeance for not letting it's presence openly flood the room and having the audacity to partially close the curtain, the Sun struck full force in the face of said owner of room. The combination of heat and light began to drag the reborn 12 year old from his peaceful and pleasant dreams.
Unfortunately for the Uchiha once he awoke and opened his eyes, the Sun shone directly in his black depths. This caused him to cover his eyes and flail. It didn't seem to be Naruto's day as when he flailed he was on the edge of the bed and the movement caused him to fall off the edge of the bed. Even worse, since he fell back first he wasn't able to catch himself which resulted in even more pain.
He gave a low drawn out groan before picking himself up, grumbling all the while. He let out a yawn before deciding that he might as well as get up and ready despite it being half an hour before when he would typically get up. After eating, brushing his teeth, doing his morning work out, showering, and finally throwing on his clothes. Once he was done, he glanced at the clock and saw that he only had an hour before the academy starts. Figuring Naruko wouldn't want to miss graduation, he grabbed his phone and called her to make sure she was actually awake.
Her phone was a gift he brought her for her 10th birthday. She wouldn't stop texting him for a week, most would figure being text non-stop would be annoying but he was just glad that she liked her present and was putting it to good use.
[Uchiha Oddity] (Author's Note: This scene is awkward and I couldn't think of anything I could to fix that without losing the point this scene is supposed to portray. So your going to have to forgive me for making this scene so… jagged and stiff)
Naruko was happily dreaming of eating ramen and spending time with Sasuke when a ringing noise slowly brought her from her wonderful sleep. Her eyes snapped open when she realized it was the specific ringtone she set for Sasuke. Sitting up suddenly, her pj covered body was visible.
Longish blonde hair was a hot mess. The hair which looked as if it was woven from gold was set with nine distinct ends. One falling one each side over her shoulders and other falling right in front of her face which was then haphazardly tucked behind her right ear. The rest fell carelessly in six distinct locks that went down to her mid-back.
Sapphire eyes gleamed tiredly that comes from sleep and they crinkled as she yawned widely. Sun-kissed skin made her whisker marks that ferally marred her face stand out and it seemed the birth marks themselves called attention to her soft, light pink lips. To sum it all she was the very definition of adorable.
Frankly all she would need to be Queen of the Elemental Nations would be to shed a couple tears and pout and all the Kages and the Daimyos would gladly hand over the reigns in order to ease any sadness she could have possible felt even if the tears were obviously fake.
Swiftly grabbing the phone with long, slim, delicate fingers she quickly answered the phone.
"Hello!?" She asked (yelled) eagerly.
"Finally!" The voice came through the phone was obviously relieved, "I've called you 20 times!"
Hers widen as she glanced at the phone and found right, right in her face was flashing "20 missed calls from Sasuke-kun".
"Oh my kami! I am so sorry!" She stammered as a blush raced across her cheeks, embarrassed he had to call so many times to wake her up. A chuckle on the other end made her cheeks darken further.
"It's fine," Sasuke easily dismissed, "But, you should probably hurry up and get ready, you're almost late for graduation. Don't worry about breakfast, I made you a bento after I called for the fifth time! Just grab your clothes and get ready!"
Horror overtook her face as she glanced at the clock on her phone and gulped audibly.
"Oh Kami! I'll be there in a minute, thanks Sasuke-kun!" She rushed out before hang up, not even giving him the chance to say goodbye. She quickly threw a oversized, black jacket over her spaghetti strap glowing orange nightshirt and tossed her sleep pants off in a random corner of the room before quickly pulling on pants of the same color as her shirt. After slipping her feet into her sandals and sliding her phone and headband into her pocket, she set off in a mad dash toward the academy only barely remembering to lock the door behind her.

Naruto leaned up against a tree with a bento in his hand as he waited for the blur that was a rushed Naruko to coming speeding toward the academy. As if to answer his thoughts said blur nearly slammed into him in her hurry. Casually hand her the bento and chopsticks like she hadn't almost steamrolled him, she gave a quick "thanks" before attacking her food with all the savagery of a ravenous bear.
Once, done she grabbed his hand and began dragging him into the academy building. There were a couple of glances but really it wasn't anything new and they had mostly gotten used to it. He remembered Fugaku's reaction to him befriending "The Orange Bullet" as was Naruto's nickname due to her love of the color orange and her constantly speeding around.
[Flashback]
Sasuke stared up at Fugaku as said man stared down at his son trying to see if he could the use the Yamanaka's mind walking technique by sheer will power alone. Sasuke in return just raised an eyebrow, asking the silent question of when was Fugaku going to speak. He opened his mouth to say something but quickly closed it. A pause.
"You have befriended the Uzumaki child." It was a statement, not a question.
"Yes."
"Why?"
"Why wouldn't I?"
"She is despised, being associated with her will lower our clan's standing."
"Why is she hated?"
"You are a child, there is no point in informing you."
"If you will not give me information I will not discard our friendship."
"I am your father and clan head! You will do as I say!" He was obviously become annoyed at my subtle defiance.
"No. She has to many uses." I knew I had to use logic to convince him that the gain out weighted the reward.
"Oh? Then what are they?"
"Her chakra reserves are massive, once she learned the Henge she was changing into anyone she could think of. I counted 137 shifts, most of my peers never got over 10, and the ones that did never made it to 15. Her reserves are larger than mine and I have more chakra than anyone else in the clan. If she was bred into the clan, it would significantly increase our clan's chakra capacity.
Not to mention her last name is Uzumaki, I feel there is a large chance that she is related to the clan despite the lack of the famous Uzumaki red hair. If this is true than it could be possible she could be adept at sealing, if not then there is always a chance she could a sensor or have chakra chains. If any of those happen to be true then she could be an incredible asset to the clan even if she isn't bred into it." I hated about my best friend like some sort of object but if I didn't he would never approve of our friendship. While I could ignore him if he tells me to not be her friend any longer, he would make it very difficult for her if I did ignore her. It seemed like I was waiting for hours for a response but eventually gave one.
"Very well."
I muffled my sigh of relief as best I could but felt as if some of it escaped by the subtle raise of Fugaku's eyebrow and his look, both of which I ignored completely in my elation.
[End Flashback]
He sighed happily as he remembered the outcome, glad that it fell so much in is favor. He was pulled out of his reminiscing by them stopping at the classroom door. Where they were promptly greeted by Sakura's bloodline limit, the Screech Release.
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING NARUKO-BAKA!" Everyone in the room grabbed their ears in pain, except Naruko who proudly pointed at her headband.
"I'm a Genin, too." Her response was filled with so much self pride that he could help but chuckle, though he felt bad that she wasn't actually a Genin until she passed her Jonin-sensei's test. Though he hoped that he didn't screw up everything too bad and they still got on the same team.
"Settle down!" called Iruka as he walked into the room, surprisingly everyone did and he didn't had to use Big Head jutsu.
"Right, now I am going to list off your teammates and assigned Jonin-sensei. Team One: …." Iruka began listing off the teams, as he was checking for any differences, thankfully there weren't any. "Team Seven: Uchiha Sasuke, Uzumaki Naruko, and Haruno Sakura. Team Eight: Hyuuga Hinata, Aburame Shino, and Inuzuka Kiba. Team Nine is still active so the next team will be Team Ten: Yamanaka Ino, Akimichi Choji, and Nara Shikamaru."
He was barely listening after Iruka-sensei listed off both his and Naruko's name on same team. He smiled. Everything was going his way.
I was originally going to put the genin test in here too but decided against it, expect the next chapter to be a longer wait but besides that, I hoped you enjoyed the chapter. Please leave your thoughts or anything else in the reviews or PM me if you want to do that instead. Regardless, have a great day or night! ^^
